Starting point is 00:00:00 The Weekly Planet Welcome back everybody to another episode of The Weekly Planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday. Jesus. And with me as always is my co-host Nick Mason. It's great to be here. 2025, we're kicking off with a bang. What were you going to say there?
Starting point is 00:00:19 Do you have a secret podcast? No. Because you were like, welcome to another episode of Cure. I was going to do the carrying of garbage and try. Oh, okay. Right, right, right. But I would never, because I'm a professional. Professional, Mr. Cinderderb. Yeah, not professional enough to keep, to do whatever take. But it's a big week, isn't it, Mace?
Starting point is 00:00:32 It's been a big couple of weeks. And months. Yeah, that's true. Last episode, there was some stuff that obviously went on over the break at BigSandwich.co and also in the main feed. But now we're back for real to talk about the most anticipated and just movies that are coming out this year plus TV shows. Plus movies that we've seen.
Starting point is 00:00:49 We'll do a little catch up. You want to do a bit of that? I'll say did you see this? And you'll say no. And then I'll sort of loosely summarize it and I'll say, and you'll say did you read this? I'll be like no, I was busy. The Bible.
Starting point is 00:00:59 The Bible, yep. Did you read the Bible? Yeah. Okay. I was busy reading the Bible. I'm glad we both read the Bible. Before we get into that though, before we went on break, we did a live episode of Willosophy,
Starting point is 00:01:09 which is Will Anderson's amazing podcast, which you can find on the Tofop feed. That was part of the Cheerful EFL podcast festival. It went out live, people might have seen the stream version. Something like that, yeah. But I wasn't across it, but this came out in December and I missed it. And then when I was away, I was like, oh, I didn't promote that or announce it.
Starting point is 00:01:28 But it was a lot of fun. So it was, it was us talking to Will at Stupid Old Studios about like our friendship and how this kind of the podcast came together and what we want to do in the future. The same thing. That's right. Nothing new. Nothing new. But it was a rest on our laurels.
Starting point is 00:01:42 That's right. I mean, he's an incredible interviewer who has amazing guests and us. Yeah. And it was a lot of fun, uh, to do and hang out and, and, uh, do that. So that is, well, that'll be linked below, but it's, if you go to the Tofop feed, is it the Tofop feed? Everyone relax. Everyone relax.
Starting point is 00:01:58 That's right. Where all of their podcasts are. You might have to scroll down a bit at this point, but, um, it's also fascinating the way that will works because when you're backstage with him, he's totally chill 100%. Yeah. And then he's just like, now let's go. And then he's on.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Yeah. And then he's head on fire, his head on fire. He's like, I'm going to stay on. He said, I'm ghostwriter. You guys know this. That's right. And we were like, good reference, Will, do you want us to put that out? He's like, no, I'm fine.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Yeah. And then you finish up and he's like, he's super chill again. Yeah. It's good. He crawled into a drain and went to sleep. Isn't that weird? Not for Will. Oh, he's a lovely man.
Starting point is 00:02:30 And it was a lot of fun. Well, speaking of Mason also, this coming Saturday, the 1st of February at 1pm at Howler in Melbourne, I'm going to be on the live Confessions podcast. Well, but it's not just me because it's it's the last episode ever. Maybe. I mean mean I say that. He said that a lot. Our friend Sammy P said that numerous times. This is a real John Farnham last two ever situation.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Great reference. I'll do a version for the Americans. This is like Kiss's last two ever. I'll do one for the UK. Fish and Chips. Yes. It's like Fish and Chips' last two ever. It's like the Greg Sausage Roll last two ever. like the Greg sausage roll last to ever as if they're actually gonna
Starting point is 00:03:06 They're never gonna. It's an incredible lineup as mentioned. Will Anderson will be there Dave Lawson read down Ruben Kay, Mish Witrop Michelle Brazier digs the digs the dog Sammy Peterson's dog. How's that dog gonna fit into how like it is a big big dog Like big venue. It's a big venue, but the dog would fit then the The dog is even bigger than the dog. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Dave Warnocky, Oliver Clark, James Clement, that's me. Georgia Love, Stephen Hall, Jess Perkins, Liam Stableton, Evie Jones. So big and like, probably others even. Sometimes it would just show up. That's so many guests.
Starting point is 00:03:34 Yeah, it's a long show. Okay. So I'll be there. So it's good value for money is what you're saying. I don't know, what does it cost? I don't know. It says $400. That's good value though.
Starting point is 00:03:43 It's good value. Line up like that. So yeah, I'll be there. Come and, you know, That's good value though. It's good value. Line up like that. So yeah, I'll be there. Come and, you know, watch that and hang out a bit if you want. You don't have to. But yeah. What a room. Sam does a great live show also.
Starting point is 00:03:53 And he's got a stand up gig coming up this year, which people are going to love. I feel I've already seen it. Have you seen it yet? No, I haven't. It's really good. Although I did see our friends Dave Warnock and Mount Stewart did tapings of their most recent live comedy festival shows which I believe are coming out on YouTube at some point.
Starting point is 00:04:07 You said they were bad. No I said they were good. Once the editing's done obviously. Oh yeah yeah yeah. Bad on the night. Yeah. Good after the end. Good with the laugh track.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Exactly that's right. Oh good. They're both incredible stand ups. That sounds great. Mason. Gone. This is the news we're going to be talking about in the lead up to our topic. Time goes below Rob Collings who edits this and puts links below. He sorts this, doesn't he? He sorts it out.
Starting point is 00:04:30 We're going to make things even more difficult for him in 2025. Oh yeah, that's what he said. That's right. He said, you're going to make things more difficult for me. And we said correct. That's right. David Lynch is passing. We're going to talk about the Oscar noms. We're going to talk about the first look at Supergirl from the upcoming Supergirl movie. Some Star Wars movies that probably won't happen. We're going to talk about... You don't know that for sure. At least one of these will probably happen. We're going to talk about a Black Panther recast. We're going to talk about Resident Evil coming back, but a movie. We're going
Starting point is 00:04:59 to talk about Sigourney Weaver returning to the Alien franchise. Some trailers that came out. Cal Craven's mouth did a big, Craven's movie did a big CGI mouth. They did many CGI mounts, I think. Oh really? Yeah. I think we've talked about this. Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:12 But it was being confirmed, one of them at least. So yeah, let's get into it Mason with this. Okay. But some bad news, the passing of David Lynch, who died at the age 78 years old. They didn't say specifically but it's probably emphysema related. He was diagnosed in 2020. He relied on oxygen just to kind of... Well we all rely on oxygen. Yes, sorry. An oxygen tank.
Starting point is 00:05:35 I would say it's one of my life's essentials. If I were to do one of those GQ videos of my 10 essentials, I reckon number one would be oxygen. What if it was like what's in your bag? Oxygen. Yeah, just oxygen. My oxygen pills that I buy from that man down the street You've got to get these in here. Yeah, you know for full enrichment of your vigors totally There's oxygen pills. He recently announced that this obviously before his passing that no, no, I'm gonna continue directing But I'm gonna do it like via zoom. Mm-hmm, but it was obviously I don't know whether it took a turn or I'm not sure Specifically what happened and I would say perhaps even if you don't know the work of David Lynch, you would have seen many,
Starting point is 00:06:09 many films and TV shows and video games that were inspired by him. The Dune video game, the RTS. Sure, absolutely. Inspired by his Dune movie. So like a race ahead, Elephant Man, Mulholland Drive. That's the one I reckon. I reckon if you haven't seen any David Lynch stuff, I reckon start with Mal Holland drive. That's one of the few projects of his that I actually have seen.
Starting point is 00:06:31 Like looking at his filmography. Yeah. I'm like, I haven't seen a lot of this. I really got like twin peaks, never really seen and I should. I do love that scene that he has in the fabled man's a movie I haven't seen. Oh, wait, he's John Ford. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. He also acted. He did a lot of cool stuff. He was in the Cleveland
Starting point is 00:06:48 show. What? He's in the Cleveland. He's Cleveland. Yeah, he's Cleveland. No, he's in fact, David Lynch in the Cleveland show. Terrific. Um, yeah. And I, you know, he directed a bunch of music videos. And again, like if you've seen like, even this year, I reckon like movies like the substance or I saw the TV glow things like that If you know that they wouldn't exist in the form that they do if it wasn't for you know, the influence of David Lynch Games like Alan Wake control, you know the whole June RTS Did you not yes exactly the building of a dynasty or whatever it's called. Yeah, absolutely that Junisty You know and and also I I think you know people it's undeniable that our podcast is lynching in the sense that we record
Starting point is 00:07:28 it all, we speak backwards. And then Collings later, he turns it all around. Here's an example of it, James. Give me an example. I'm thinking of that episode of Red Dwarf where they go backwards. This will all be backwards. Where Rimmer and Crichton go to the backwards world and they start like a vaudeville routine of people who do stuff forward.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Yes. And then the guy shows up and fires them. He has a big speech that's backwards. Yeah, but what he actually says is if I remember correctly, he says something like this. He says, he'll have an ace in the air. And all this is backwards. Yeah, that's right. And this is our Red Dwarf episode. So the only way to access it is to turn it around.
Starting point is 00:08:17 There you go. Wow. With technology. Yeah. Anyway, thanks, Collin, for asking you to do more than ever. Okay. So yeah, I guess that sucks. It's bad.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I mean, he did smoke since he was eight years old. Yeah. And he, I think he said relatively recently that like, I'd like, even though he quit, he's like, I don't regret smoking. I love smoking. Yeah. He like transcendental meditation and smoking. And Coca-Cola.
Starting point is 00:08:39 And Coca-Cola. He liked going to Bob's big boy, which is that, that, uh, notable diner in, in Hollywood and getting a milkshake and a coffee every day. A lot of people, like, you know, it just seemed like a cool dude. It did seem like a cool dude. There's a video, I bet it's on YouTube. It's from...
Starting point is 00:08:54 The hair helped as well. Oh, incredible hair. Made him seem like an even cooler dude. Unbelievable hair. There's a video, I'm sure it's on YouTube now, and it's him showing you how to cook quinoa. Just a very odd, like it's a very odd, it's him, it's on YouTube now, and it's him showing you how to cook quinoa. Just a very odd, like it's a very odd, it's him, it's all black and white, and it's him like in a kitchen cooking quinoa
Starting point is 00:09:11 and explaining it and also telling a story. I think about how in the 60s he took a train from Greece to Yugoslavia and the strange things that happened to him on the trip. It's awesome. Very interesting. Quinoa. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Don't love it to be honest. No, I like it. It's all right. I prefer couscous. Okay, sure, wow. Yeah. Don't love it to be honest. All right. I like it. I prefer a couscous. Okay, sure. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Wow. Way to tarnish his legacy by saying you prefer couscous. Mason, we got to talk about these Oscar noms, I guess. Okay. Oh, Lost Highway is good too. And there you go. And I'll see Wild at Heart. It's got Nicolas Cage and Laura Dernet.
Starting point is 00:09:39 I think I've seen that one. Yeah. Have I? I don't know. I might have. I'll put it on my list. Mason, Oscar Noms. Where you at? You happy?
Starting point is 00:09:47 You happy about this? No, I'm never happy. And nobody's ever happy with Oscar Noms. The big winner thus far with the Oscar Noms, and also I think it's won some Golden Globes and et cetera. We have some results, I don't remember what they are. But the biggest Noms this year is a movie called Amelia Perez.
Starting point is 00:10:02 I'd only heard of this just before. Just now, yeah. It's got Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez in it. Okay. That's good. And it's got, I think it got 13 nominations. Whoa. Out of a possible 15. That's Lord of the Rings-esque. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's one shy of Titanic. The thing about Amelia Perez, and I cannot speak with any authority about this because I have not seen it, is that a lot of people are saying it's really bad. Like it's a really bad movie and people like this, it's, you know, even, you know, some
Starting point is 00:10:32 people are like, well, it's okay, but why does an okay movie get 13 nominations? I mean, often an okay movie will be nominated. Yeah. But people are saying this is crash. Do you remember crash? I remember crash. Not the people having sex with cars crash the Cronenberg crashed Yeah, the crash which is about our car crash solved racism or something. Remember that one? Thank God. Yeah, but that's stick by the way
Starting point is 00:10:54 Yeah, okay. Yeah, we're right. It's in Freenia. Okay, but I don't know I think because it's it's about transness trans identity It's about a dictator who wants to transition or something, a South American dictator, I'm not sure. But a lot of people like, well, because it's covering a topic that is in the- It's about something. It's about something. I don't know. But here's the thing, though. So this is from the Wikipedia page. Filmmakers Taylor Hackford and Denis Villeneuve both cited Amelia Perez as one of their favorite films of 2024. James Cameron called it bold and daring.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Emily Blunt called it a singular experience. Meryl Streep said it was good. The beautiful, sensual, incredible. Guillermo del Toro said it's so beautiful to see a movie that is cinema. Michael Mann called it a contemporary masterpiece. Yeah. When is it going to be a Michael Wollman? That's what I'm saying. Maybe after the success of Amelia Perez.
Starting point is 00:11:43 I hope so. Yeah, a lot of directors are like Well, this is good stuff. Yeah, but you got to bear in mind that everybody said that the flash was gonna be really good So yeah, everybody said that I were right. I saw it. I didn't like it. I didn't like it I'll stand by that. I thought it was crap This is news to me because you've always told me that you did like it Oh, is that what I said now this is from discussing film well like disgusting film well in my opinion Here's a tweet from them. I like discussing film. Yeah me too
Starting point is 00:12:10 But sometimes we do we do a little play on words and you see where it ends I don't want them to turn on me. I think we have a friendly relationship Why are you trying to we have any this week dude discussing film follows me really they don't follow me Yeah, look at this doesn't say follow back does because you're a piece of shit. I know. It's in their bio. Have a look. Whoa. Anyway, Disgusting Film, as far as I'm concerned, says, here's a list of major films that got
Starting point is 00:12:32 zero Oscar nominations. Now first is Blitz. I don't know what Blitz is. I haven't seen it. Okay. But here's some other ones. Furiosa, zero. Zero?
Starting point is 00:12:40 Zero nominations. Baby Girl, zero nominations. Which one's that? That's Nicole Kidman's in it. Oh, that's good, isn't it? Yeah. Dura number two, zero nominations. Long Leg, zero nominations.
Starting point is 00:12:50 What? The movie Civil War, zero nominations. That's fine. Challenges, zero nominations. That is wild. Not even score. That's crazy. Not even score.
Starting point is 00:12:59 We Live in Time, zero nominations. Haven't seen it, but have heard good things. Madame Web, zero nominations. Damn. Disgusting. Transformers 1, zero nomination. Haven't seen it but have heard good things. Madam Web, zero nominations. Damn. Disgusting. Transformers 1, zero nominations. What? I saw the TV Glow, zero nominations.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Haven't seen it but how? Right? Yeah. It's crazy. I bet the Transformers 1 Twitter fan base are going absolutely bananas. I bet that hype guy's all over it. He's like, wah. Wah.
Starting point is 00:13:22 Damn. I know people saying that like Dune is under nominated. Yeah. Cause it didn't get, you know, none of the actors were nominated. It's nominated for best picture, but not best director. Okay. And cinematography. So it did like, it has got some.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Nominations. But challenges is why. Again, did it come out too early in the year? Was that it? Maybe. People forgot. Again, like we, we don't know the inner workings of this sort of stuff. No.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Do you have the time? Do people... Thank you. Do you actually have the time? Do members of the Academy get their screeners physically, or do they get them on stream? That's a good question. Well, they used to get them physically, but they probably changed that. Because sometimes I'll buy like a Blu-ray and then I'm like
Starting point is 00:14:07 Blue I've plugged in a switch or whatever. Yeah, so I don't in order to plug in my blu-ray player I'll have to unplug something and plug that in I can't be bothered I'll just see if I can find the thing I just bought on blu-ray. Yeah dreaming So I'm wondering if they're like a lot of people are just like well This I watch this cuz was on streaming. Yeah, I watched you know this cuz it arrived to my house But I'm not going out to watch yeah, and I a lot of people apparently just vote for stuff their friends are in Oh, absolutely of course Yeah, it's all a big Hollywood
Starting point is 00:14:42 They all live in a compound. They sacrifice goats. Cult of Hollywood. Ozampic, etc. They're all doing cocaine Ozampic. That's right. They're all snorting that Ozampic. They're loving it over there. Who knows what they're thinking. It's cuckoo over there. Gotta say that Ozampic though, it's good.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You think so? The trick is to try and beat it, so you try and get ahead of it. You take it and then you eat as much as you can regardless. Oh, so it balances out. try and get ahead of it. You take it and then you eat as much as you can regardless. Also balances out. Yeah. Okay. And then you look the same. Sounds safe.
Starting point is 00:15:08 That's safe Mason. Safe-ish. Why not, eh? So there you go. Look, I, as always, I don't give a flying fuck about the Oscars and what is remembered often, like it all kind of comes out in the wash at the end, you know? Like 20, 30 years down the line. Yes.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Nobody remembers that Forrest Gump beat Pulp Fiction. No, whatever. You know, the the movies that were good stand the test of time. I mean, currently, that's also because some of you know, Pulp Fiction, everybody saw it at the cinemas. It's good. Like maybe future Academy Award losers will not do that because people just didn't, you know, they didn't they didn't rise to the top here's some results from the Golden Globes and this is often a You know a little preview of who's gonna win. Yeah, the winner of drama motion picture was the brutalist Yep, to me more one for actress in a musical or comedy the substance. Okay with that because I don't have our that speech Yes, that's yeah. Yeah. Yeah, Adrian Brody one for the brutalist. Oh, let's see Zoe Saldana one for best supporting actors for Amelia Perez
Starting point is 00:16:08 Wicked one for cinematic and box office achievement, which is that money most money? Oh, yeah Ted dancing won the Carol Burnett award. I guess that's for the actor who looks most like Carol Burnett I don't know how many nominees nominees were there? I don't know because if it's just him That's probably you watch that that show that he did the Netflix one no you mentioned it's good yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah We might talk about that later. Yeah, we might. And Challenger's won Best Original Score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Like we didn't do an episode on that because it's sort of, you know, it's not a big No blockbuster event kind of situation, but that was a great movie. Incredible. I mean, I think we both named it like the best movie we saw. We did. Which is better than winning an Oscar. That's right. Colin Farrell won Best Actor in a mini-series of The Penguin, of course. That's a good show. I think yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Anyway, there's some winners. Yeah, big winners. winners and some losers and some losers. Yeah, it's good Anyway, look forward to that whenever that happens. I don't know. Hmm. But do you who do you think will win Best Picture James? I'm just the Oscars easy list his list an aura the brutalist a complete unknown a conclave Dune parts to Amelia Perez I'm still here nickel boys the substance and wicked Perez. I'm still here Nickel Boy's The Substance and Wicked. I've only seen like two or three. It would be a while look at it be a wild result of The Substance 1. Was that nominated? It's nominated.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Read that again. Sorry. Onora. So that's the movie with Mikey Madison. Yeah. The Brutalist, which is the architecture movie, the second architecture movie. Oh, crazy architecture. Oh, a complete unknown, which is the Oh, that one. That's that's the Bob Dylan. Conclave. That's the pope one. Who's the pope? Who's the pope? Who's the pope? Right. Pick the
Starting point is 00:17:50 pope already. June part two which is who's the space pope. Who is the space pope? Paul Trades. Amelia Perez the thing we mentioned earlier. Yep. I'm Still Here. I can't remember what that one is. That sounds like I'm Not There which is the other Bob Dylan biopic. Yeah. Nickel Boys, The Substance and Wicked. Oh I'm Still Here. Oh yeah this Bob Dylan biopic. Yeah, uh nickel boys the substance and wicked I'm still here. Oh, yeah, this one. Yep. Okay. What is it? You're gonna it's about the woman's husband disappears, etc Oh that came out. He's still here. Ultimately. No, she's saying I'm still here interesting and he's gone. I think Wow Yeah, well I can go and see this Nowhere near me great terrific right great, but you can see Sonic 3. I'm gonna see Sonic 3 again
Starting point is 00:18:27 All right, cool. I don't know. What do you think? I think it's cool. I think you were correct. Who's gonna win? Oh, um You're probably Amelia Perez. It's gonna be a crash thing good. I think that's good cuz they're all the all the voters are the same Yeah, you know, I mean, yeah, you're on. Yeah. All right Mason. Let's talk about this James Gunn has revealed The first look at Supergirl from the upcoming Supergirl movie. Yes. Of course, Millie Alcock, who was recently in other things, Game of Thrones, new Game of Thrones,
Starting point is 00:18:54 is taking on the role of Kara Zor-El, who is the cousin of Superman, who's younger than Superman, despite being sent to Earth to look after baby Clark Kent, but she got stuck in a space time rift. Time dilation, yes absolutely yes. And this is an adaptation of Supergirl Woman Tomorrow which is written by Tom King and illustrated by I can't remember but it's about a kind of journey across space. So it's directed by Craig Gillespie who did Dumb Money, he did I, Tonya, he did Lars and
Starting point is 00:19:20 the Real Girl. Okay, so they're all quite quirky aren't they? I agree and the screenplay by, I can't even pronounce her name, Anna Nogueira? Great. She wrote on Hightown, which is good, probably. I haven't seen it. Incredible. Uh, but I'm really looking forward to this.
Starting point is 00:19:35 Sure. Absolutely. It's an amazing comic and apparently, I mean, I read it after it kind of became known, like it didn't do well initially. Like in the, within the industry, people were like, this is great, but it didn't get like a proper release or anything until it was announced. I'd already read it at that point. Yeah, me too.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Me too. We both read it. Yeah. And then it was like, here's the deluxe DC edition. It's hardcover and everything. You can read it now for real. So yeah. And it starts, the comic starts with Supergirls celebrating her birthday,
Starting point is 00:20:01 sitting in an alien bar, which is where the first image looks like it it takes place. Yes. I'm really looking forward to this. Now also Lobo is in this. Yes. He's not. Oh yeah, we should mention that. Yeah, he's Jason Momoa. Jason Momoa is gonna be Lobo as many people predicted. But yeah, he's in this. He's not in the original comic book. So he's gonna slot in. Not sure. There are some kind of alien bounty hunters and warriors and etc. in the comic book. So that's fine with me. Put him put him in there. Makes warriors and etc. Yeah, that's fine with me. Put him put him in there. Makes sense.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Yeah, so she's apparently also going to turn up in the Superman movie, which I'm looking forward to as well. We'll talk about a bit later. We got a message from James Gunn who says through to see cameras Roller Warner Brothers. This is a personal message. Yes, it seems to me on Supergirl with Craig Gillespie at the helm seems largely impersonal. Yeah, like if this is a message to you. No, I know.
Starting point is 00:20:46 This is just how we operate. So we... Sure. It's fine, isn't it? Seems a little bit like he's cut and paste and he sent it all bunch of people. James, I love you. And the phenomenal Millie Alcock. Was he talking to you there?
Starting point is 00:20:56 No, he's... I don't know. Was he looking in a mirror? Was he? I don't know. As Kara Zor-El, Craig brings an incredible sensibility to the story in Millie. As every inch of the unique super girl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evenley and Anna Neuquaer, I don't know whose name I'm pronouncing wrong
Starting point is 00:21:13 and I apologize. So yeah, I mean, I am very much looking for the Superman, but I would say, this might also be at the same level of looking forward to a thing. I mean, you know, And it's not just Superman again on Earth. It's like, here's a weird space Superman thing.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Absolutely. But it's Supergirl. But it's Supergirl, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And also because, you know, in theaters, we haven't had a crack at Supergirl really since the one from the 80s. Oh, really? What about the one that was in The Flash? Oh, yeah. I forgot about that on account of how good that movie was. Yeah. I forgot about that. On account of how good that movie was. Yeah. I liked her.
Starting point is 00:21:47 She was good. But yeah, I understand why they're not doing that. Yeah. So we're here. This is where we're at. And I'm okay with it. That's 2026. So I started filming.
Starting point is 00:21:57 It'll be not this July coming. It'll be the following. Or that US summer. Yeah. There we go. Here's a segment called here's some Star Wars movies that might not happen. We could do this. No, yes, you don't want to 25. I'm not like and I was and or two is coming out. I like and or like and
Starting point is 00:22:16 or yeah. Okay. All right. Fine. As by THR. Shereem of Doi Chinoy, who's directing the Star Wars New Jedi autumn movie, apparently, which is about Rey and a new generation of Jedi. 15 years in the future. Yeah, that's right. Well, it's still in our past. That's true. George Nolfe has been hired to write, who wrote on Ocean's 12, the Bourne Ultimatum
Starting point is 00:22:36 and 2024's Elevation, a movie I haven't seen. But you've listened to the song by U2. It's true. And it's good. It's one of my favorite U2 songs. Your favorite U2 songs are the ones that got delivered to everybody's phones. you. It's true. And it's good. It's one of my favorite YouTube songs. Your favorite YouTube songs are the ones that got delivered to everybody's phones. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. But after that, it's elevation.
Starting point is 00:22:50 It made my phone be worth more. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So you're an oceans 12. Apologize. Not you. I'm not. I don't like oceans. So he came around on it. It was funny. And it was self referential. And they weren't remember the first one. Bruce Willis is in this and he's playing himself or whatever I didn't a lot of people hate that. I don't hate that. I God mr. Revisionist history. Yeah, I am Unbelievable. What else don't you think happened from history? You got some things you want to know?
Starting point is 00:23:16 I'll write you a list to come up with it Do an episode on it next week of stuff. I didn't think really happened in history. Yeah. So, yeah, I mean, we'll see. Great. All right. Yeah. This is also by THR. Apparently Ryan Gosling might be joining Star Wars, specifically Sean Levy's movie.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Oh, Levy's movie? He did Deadpool and Wolverine recently. He did My Dad's in Star Wars, Ryan Reynolds, Can You Help Me Do a Star Wars? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And also Your Own Dad. This is also going to be separate from the Skywalker saga. Whoa, I don't believe it. Well, no, it's happening.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Apparently, if he signs on because he hasn't, this will move fast. They'll be like, well, let's go. Let's get this thing off the ground. I don't think this will be a very good one. Okay. Like exceptional. I think it could be like, yeah, all right. I think it would be like that. What do you think Ryan Gosling is going to play? Do you think he's going to play Watto's
Starting point is 00:24:09 uglier, weirder son? Yes. For example. Did you see this week, canonically in the Star Wars comics, Darth Vader is going to go back and kill Watto? Yeah, he did it earlier in another thing. I think in a non-canon thing. Yeah. You like that? I think it's just a funny contrast to have like this, you know, this this enormous Black clad kind of you know angel of death character show up and what hose there is all with his big snout guy Yeah, and he just gets chopped to bits with a lightsaber. I think it isn't that's funny and it's worth with the price of admission It took his time. I would have done it earlier. Yeah, I mean he probably should have done it when he killed all those kids Exactly. I mean if you're doing it you're killing weird freaks on a sand planet. When he killed the sand kids. Yeah. It's totally okay. I bet he got back to the ship and he's like
Starting point is 00:24:52 ah damn it. Yeah. Ah damn it I didn't kill Watto. I'll get him next time. Yeah. I got to kill that guy who enslaved me my entire childhood. And my mother. And my mother. Yeah. Do you think he would have explained who he was beforehand? Because I think that would have been funny if he was like, hey, remember me? And he's like, no. And he's like, I'm that fucking Anakin Skywalker or whatever. You know, tell him. I think it'd be funny if he didn't tell him. Because what has just gone through his day.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Why? Yeah. To me, this is normal being a slave owner, you know? But it's not. It's bad. Good point. Do you think he did it in between seasons of Obi-Wan? Yeah, great So what do you think about Ryan Gosling joining? I mean the obvious thing is like he's a Han Solo smuggler type guy
Starting point is 00:25:32 Yeah, that's what I'm guessing. Yeah, or a rogue Jedi. Oh rogue Jedi didn't get killed during Order 6060 Nobody got him he got out of it He probably rolled he probably rolled out of the way took the last bus with all the other Jedi's that escaped Order 66. Bunch of buses actually. All aboard! They're doing an Order 66 last call. Got on the train, there's 17 carriages. Put on a hood. Oh, we're filled up with all the Jedi's that escaped Order 66. Better get another train. Yep. God. It's good, isn't it? And this one's via My Time to Shine Hello. Why don't you think you don't love it? No, this is 66% etc. My Time to Shine. Hello. Why don't you don't love? No, this is 66% etc.
Starting point is 00:26:05 Or My Time to Lie. Apparently James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi movie is filming in December. It's going to be written by James Mangold and Andor's Bo Willimon. Which I don't hate. That's a good combination. And James Mangold, you know, he's worked with Disney before Lucasfilm before. If you remember, he made Indiana Jones 5. He sure did.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Which we both agreed on. Yeah. Did we? I think we had the same opinion. It was all right. Yeah. Yeah. It was...
Starting point is 00:26:32 What, do you hate Indiana Jones now? Yeah. Do you have my opinion but for Indiana Jones, not Star Wars? I don't hate Indiana Jones. I just think they mishandled it. Yeah. For decades. Sure did.
Starting point is 00:26:42 And they didn't nurture it, the brand. They didn't nurture that brand. Leading up to the new movie. That's right. No wonder it bombed. That's right And they didn't nurture it, the brand leading up to the new movie. No wonder it bombed. It's 80 years old. That's what we're all about here, nurturing the brand. Kids don't know Indiana Jones. They should have done that thing where Phoebe Waller-Bridge goes back in time and takes his role in all the movies. And whips his dick off. Yes, exactly. We talked about it. That's right. I mean, they're doing it now because of that game or whatever. That should have been two years ago. What are you doing?
Starting point is 00:27:06 Animated series. Re-release the movies like a year before the movie comes out. Young Indiana Jones. Whatever. Do comic books. No, just re-release the old ones. Like comic books. Like get it out there. They didn't. They were just like they tried to be like, remember Indiana Jones?
Starting point is 00:27:21 And most people were like, yeah, I guess. Isn't he really old now? Yes, he is. Yeah, he's, they could have they should have they should have done a sequel to young Indiana Jones called The Correct Age Indiana Jones. Where's the age where everybody can agree he's in his prime. Absolutely. Yeah. There we go. So there you go. That's Star Wars news. Yeah. Unless, of course, a complete unknown doesn't win any Oscars, which case man gold's probably gonna get fired oh he did that one did he he did yeah so which of those three you like so we got the new ray movie thank you for covering it again because I've already forgotten you ray you right we got Ryan
Starting point is 00:27:58 Gosling Sean Levy Star Wars Deadpool movie okay sure we've got James Mangold Dawn of the Jedi, which is happening but the filming is or might be happening but December. Probably the Mangold one. Me too. That's the one where I'm at and he did Indiana Giants. So true. They mismanaged it though and they made us watch that guy who whips Mason. Oh whippy whippersons yeah. They didn't make us watch him. They did. We were lining up outside they made us watch. yeah, but I walked away then I came back later It's not so we we can I couldn't have left cuz I'm holding the line. I know right. Yeah Well, I was with Dave Lee and Dave Lee's dad
Starting point is 00:28:32 I guess they could have they could have held the line they could have held the line It'd been like Dave Lee hold the line Dave Lee's dad hold the line with Dave Lee. That's right. Yeah, okay Mason The rumor is via my time to shine. Hello, that Marvel are looking to recast Black Panther. Yeah, we knew this. Yeah, some of the actors that Marvel Studios are proudly considering for this new version of T'Challa is John David Washington, Calvin Harrison Jr. and Aaron Pierre.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Presumably it wouldn't be Aaron Pierre now because he is- He is Green Lantern now. He's John Stewart Green Lantern, yes. Also he's British, did you know that? Yes, I did. Okay, I didn't know that. He's got piercing eyes. Listen up Kelvin Harrison, Jr. I do not recognize. I think he's meant Calvin Harris for a bit there.
Starting point is 00:29:12 I mean, that would have been good. Oh, he's in Fasa the Lion King. No wonder didn't recognize him. That was a was an animated. Aaron Pearce is also in. Oh, yeah. Is that what they just did here? Feels like it. It feels a little bit like it. It's almost like they took a shot in the dark based on some Disney actors. Disney actors. Yeah, that Lion King movie is doing pretty well.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Is it? Chipping away, yeah. Because it's just in cinemas? Just in cinemas. We saw it. And we've already seen Sonic 3. They're like, all right, we'll give this a go as well. I did see all the kids movies over this break.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I mean, I think we knew, you know, after the initial, you know, after the passing of Chadwick Boseman, they were like, well, we, you know, in our opinion, we have to do, you know, we can't do a recast, we have to move on from that character actually say he passed away in the movies. But then, but with the seeds planted to bring back a T'Challa of some sort. Again, I think they're going to do weird time travel thing. And the son of T'Challa, T'Challa Jr is going to be. Who is in the end of that last movie. Yeah. That was a, yeah, that was clearly setting up for something not too distant future. Also, I think it's the less that's probably what they perceived as the least ghoulish route to bring back to T'Challa. I mean, is it,
Starting point is 00:30:17 I think it's the more ghoulish route because they're just like, no more ghoulish is deep fake. Oh, that is the, okay. Look, the most ghoulish is deep fake. Oh that is okay look the most ghoulish is deep fake then the second most ghoulish is we'll do a roundabout comic book way to resurrect to swap in a character with the same name and hope nobody notices. That's the most ghoulish. That's the second most ghoulish I think. And the third most ghoulish is just recast. Yeah. Which they can't really do now because they have killed him. Yes. I mean I don't think they should bring one in from another dimension. Oh, that's also good. I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:30:46 So I think this is probably, he's got a son and then there's the legacy of Black Panther and you know you can delve into all of that. Apparently... He does some training in a Shadow Realm. Yeah, he goes into Hyperbaric Time Chamber. Doesn't it slow you down? I don't know, Dragon Ball Z. Mason, new to Charla will apparently appear, this is why my time to shine,
Starting point is 00:31:03 in one of the Avengers, in new Avengers movies and then Black Panther 3. So we'll see about that. We'll see about that, won't we? Yeah, I understand. It's only a couple of weeks till Captain America. I know, I've heard it's... It's not. What have you heard it's like?
Starting point is 00:31:24 You know? Yeah. I can't really say more. Sounds have you heard it's like? I can't... You know? Yeah. I can't really say more than that. Sounds like you're struggling. I don't know. I can't say. But yeah, I haven't seen it. Oh.
Starting point is 00:31:31 Yeah. Oh, because we spoke to a guy. We spoke to some people. One guy in particular. Let's not. Now let's say his name. The director. That's right.
Starting point is 00:31:39 He was like... Whose name is? And he maybe got fired. We think. Oh, no. Okay. I don't know. I don't think he maybe got fired, we think. Oh no, okay. I don't know. I don't think he's still out at the moment. At least he's doing the press conference.
Starting point is 00:31:49 I'd love to be surprised. Me too. Anyway, Mason, you just- Look, I like everybody involved. Not everybody. Some of the people. Yeah. You know. I don't know whether- I like Anthony Mackie. I think he's very charismatic and delightful. We've recently rewatched some of the Captain America movies.
Starting point is 00:32:03 Yeah, he's good. I think he's delightful. I don't know whether this is the right direction though. I don't know. We'll see. What do you mean? He's a bird. Oh, the direction being up. Yeah. You think it should be more on the ground? Yeah, he should be a mole man. Captain America mole man. You just told me this, but Zack Craig, who directed Barbarian, is directing a Resident Evil reboot. This is from the Hollywood Reporter. That's the real deal, James. That's a big deal. That's legit stuff.
Starting point is 00:32:27 That's not, and this is an exclusive. Yeah? Weekly Planet exclusive. That's ours. Nobody else is talking about this. Zach Craig it to tackle Resident Evil reboot igniting bidding war. Does that mean he's gonna tackle the previous one?
Starting point is 00:32:39 Just tackle it to the ground and be like, stop doing that. Yeah, maybe. Well, that's fascinating, because there's like in the last few years alone, there's been, hasn't there been an animated version of TV series and a live-action reboot Yes, all of which everybody hated on top of it think nine movies or ever came before you would think that this Franchise this IP as it were yuck this content. Yeah is Is dead and buried but I guess like a resident evil zombie
Starting point is 00:33:03 Yeah is dead and buried, but I guess like a Resident Evil zombie. Yeah. It's coming back from the grave because it's got tentacles and eyeballs on stalks and one big eye in its chest or whatever. Yeah. There's only six Resident Evil movies. Is that true? Maybe. I mean there's seven including the reboot. Sure. Studios are fighting for a package, eh heh heh, that will see the barbarian filmmaker write and direct a new movie based on the horror video game. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:24 Yep. Four studios are eluding for the to win among them Warner Brothers yuck and Netflix yuck yuck don't give it to Netflix no Constantine film which has held the screen rights to the title since the late 1990s and has been behind the previous movies will produce the reboot along with playstays and productions mm-hmm co-written by Shay Hatton who worked on John Wick chapter 4 and Zack Snyder's army of the dead oh wow one of those is good. One of those is very good. Craig is the reason studios are willing to shell out major money It says here. Yeah, fair enough. It's interesting that he went straight to this Yeah, well he's but we might talk about in a second. He is producing the movie companion
Starting point is 00:33:59 He produced yes, which is coming. It's not look out next week I do that in Nosferatu and maybe yeah next week But there's the he is following the follow-up to barbarian is a movie called weapons, which isn't out yet He's directing he's directed that oh, so there's one between okay. Yeah. Yeah, what's weapons? I don't know. I don't know anything about it beyond the title, but like barbarian perhaps It's better that you just go in without knowing anything. Yeah, you know Horror movie has Josh Brolin and Julia Garner in it. Julia Garner, Silver Surfer. They're everywhere, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:26 All sorts of Wolfman. Chisholm the Wolfman. Yeah, Alden Einreich. Benedict Wong. Oh, I like this cast. Yes. This is good. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:34 Okay, well that's good. A Hollywood reporter says the combination of Craigaped with an established intellectual property is also likely to be something too tempting to pass up, no matter the cost. Apparently the movie focuses on, I know you said you didn't want to know, but school kids in the middle of the night, police corruption, generational trauma, witchcraft, blood rituals, and religious abuse in a small Florida community. That's vague enough. Spoilers.
Starting point is 00:34:54 That's vague enough that I'll forget it. Yeah, no way when no one's going to remember this goddamn thing. It's coming out next January. Okay, all right. Yeah. All right. Get on you, Craigsy. I mean, you do good work. That one movie that I saw. Yeah. That's right. Get on you, Craigsy. I mean, you do good work.
Starting point is 00:35:05 That one movie that I saw. Yeah. That's right. It was good. Cool. All right. I'm up for it. I'm keen.
Starting point is 00:35:13 You keen as a bean? Nope. Mason, this is by Daniel Richmond. Oh, yes. What do you think about that in terms of scoops? Not bad. His track record's all right. It's better than the coin flip.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Yeah, it's true. Could be the banner on his Twitter page. Better than a coin flip. Better than a coin flip, bitch. You can true be the banner on his Twitter page We'll see what a coin flip better than a coin flip bitch You can use that in Richmond. We don't mind Apparently he mentioned that there's the alien Romulus egg, which is coming out directed by Fede Alvarez is going to have a DH Sigourney Weaver, okay, which does the ageing worked? Well the The the resurrection of the past as it were worked
Starting point is 00:35:41 So I fixed it they fixed they fixed it in post or they fixed it in Home video. I think they did fix it. I've saved the behind the side Besides each other size the parts of besides each other side an adventure. I didn't mind that movie I did not like that, but his family said okay, and everyone got paid. What the fuck do I know or care? Bring them all back The entire cast now if this was true, I guess that would mean they would either wipe out Alien 3 or take Sigourney Weaver out of the deep freeze in between Alien and Aliens. If at the end of Alien Romulus there's like a nine year frozen trip or something isn't
Starting point is 00:36:18 there supposed to be? Something like that, yeah. And that's set also just before the Aliens movie. So I guess that's possible. Like the timeline could line up. But, Fede Alvarez came to Twitter or whatever and said fun gossip but not true at all okay apparently he wants to take the whole thing in a new direction because he a new direction he said last sort of fits with the kind of the last
Starting point is 00:36:36 movie yeah well because the last one without spoiling too much of it okay how about this alien new directions I like it a lot. And the erection isn't... I don't think we see it. Oh not an alien like... No I don't think so. They all look kind of like weird erections you know. Yeah maybe it's just all pixelated. Interesting. So yeah I think though, oh Daniel Richmond then clarified that what he was talking about is a new project which is similar to what Neil Blomkamp was doing. Okay. Those people don't remember. Neil Blomkamp stole his ideas.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Yeah, Neil Blomkamp clamped a pitch idea which is like a new Alien 3, where they brought back like Michael Bean and Sigourney Weaver in their roles. But it was set not now, it was set at the ages they are now. Right. So it's a sequel to Aliens 30, 20, 30 years down the line. How about this James, Alien 3 and Alien 4, just a dream. Yeah, well people have talked about that hyperspace dream. Apparently there also is a book or a comic where Ripley is actually woken up in that
Starting point is 00:37:37 cryo freeze. Okay. Here's the way around this if they were to do that, which they're not. Just use Amanda Ripley. Yeah, right, the one from the video games. The one from the video game. Who is Ripley's daughter. Yeah, like a compelling character in herself, I think. And you can cast whoever. You don't need to de-age anybody. That's right. You could use Ian Holm. You could use Ian Holm. You could use his resurrected face. You could use that weird
Starting point is 00:37:59 puppet and they could stick a thing on it or whatever. That's right. So that's, I think there's room there. But again, apparently he's gonna go in a new direction. Interesting. A new direction. Well, the last one has mentioned was like, it was alien and aliens and Prometheus that was all kind of, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:13 which I thought was on the whole worked for me, not for everybody, but yeah, let's see new directions. Mason trailer's a hoi. Honk. The good ship trailer has returned to port. That's right. After a long winter at sea, we thought it had gone missing like the terror. That's right. Yeah after a long winter at sea We thought it had gone missing like the terror. That's right, but it's the trailer. But it didn't it came back. It came back
Starting point is 00:38:30 It's normal. It's good. It looks good. Nothing weird on it. No, no weird doesn't have any it doesn't even have any plague rats I don't think so. It's disappointing for me because I asked for. You eat plague rats. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah Daredevil, but Disney Plus got a trailer A huge creative overhaul that happened after filming a lot of this. They reshot the pilot. Apparently, it started with Foggy and Karen were dead. Sure. And they fixed that or die early on or something.
Starting point is 00:38:54 So they fixed all of that. Apparently, they want to make it more in line with the Netflix series. The series that everyone liked. Yeah, the series that everyone liked because I think the idea was at first that, no, this is in a different continuity and whatever, whatever. I think they realized that people actually liked that show and maybe don't do that. That's right. So it's, I know I've seen a lot of interviews with Charlie Cox who was so happy to come back because they thought they were going to get a season four and even though he's like, I'm old, but it's good to come back.
Starting point is 00:39:16 Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, this trailer's looking good. Him and Wilson Fisk have a little sit down in a cafe, David Lynch style. Oh yeah. We're going to sit down. We get John Bernthal's back as the Punisher. He's the Punisher. And so is it Wilson Bethel? What's that guy's name? Bullseye. Oh, he plays Bullseye.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Yeah, yeah. He's back. Action looks suitably brutal. I think it's... What does he have the DD yet? Why won't they do it? That's a great question. I love Daredevil.
Starting point is 00:39:43 He's pretty good, isn't he? Yeah, he's cool. We still have a good Daredevil. He's pretty good isn't he? He's cool. We still have a good Daredevil game. I mean there's that PlayStation 2 one which they cancelled. And of course they're doing the classic scene of like a bunch of guys decide to beat up this guy thinking he's blind and then he... I'm not blind. Well I'm blind. I am blind but you know. I can hear better than I can than you can see. Also I'm gonna wreck you just to be clear. Yeah I think you see him kick someone's knee out. Yeah oh yeah he yeah. He does that. Yeah, you see it He does the thing where he like what's the full force of his arm like behind a guy's elbow and breaks his arm Yeah, you know God did I look I gotta finish season 3 so he finished season 3. Yeah, I will I was like no
Starting point is 00:40:15 I'll know. Yeah. Yeah, then what's Jessica Jones season 3? I was there. Yeah, that's what they did too No, they did 3 my god. Yeah, I'm busy though. Three, the bloody, that lady, you know, the Australian lady. Yeah. She gets put in the raft. What? Yeah. Like the movie? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:31 Do you see it? Yes. So it rises out of the ocean and they put her in the raft. No, I think they just say she gets put in the raft. Wow. But it's weird that Captain America didn't release her as well. You didn't know her. That's true.
Starting point is 00:40:41 And she killed all those people. Did she? That's why they put her in the raft. Oh, why'd she kill, why'd she do it everyone? Well, she's got Hellcat powers. Oh. Yeah. That's true. And she killed all those people. Did she? That's why they put her in their arse. Oh, why'd she kill? What'd she do everyone? Well, she's got Hellcat powers. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Well, I'll visit. You'll visit her in their arse. I'll check it out. I don't think they allow normal people to go there. I'm Australian. That's a good point, actually. To say we're related. Yeah, no, that's true.
Starting point is 00:40:59 I don't know. He says he's related. And then it comes out of the ocean. What's her name? Rachel Taylor. Rachel Taylor. He says is related What's a racial title I do tailor this kills 400 dolphins every time we raise it out of the ocean I think with AI and the dolphins have to push it up and they get crushed Mason Okay, Mickey 17 also got another trailer. Okay, great. Really looking forward to this one.
Starting point is 00:41:26 So the book is called Mickey seven, because basically it's about an expendable human in the future, in the future. But the shades of red dwarf in this as well, I would say. Yes. So they go to future and he's expendable in the sense that if there's anything that they need tested, because somebody will die, they send him in and then they just 3d print him again. And they've done it 17 times. So he's experiencing and then they just 3D print him again. And they've done it 17 times.
Starting point is 00:41:46 So he's experiencing all these horrible deaths played by Robert Pattinson. And most of his memories survived to the next? Yeah, it's what he's basically got save points. All right. Yeah. But in the trailer, and this is similar to the book, they're only legally allowed to be one of him at any particular time. Right.
Starting point is 00:42:01 But they accidentally think that one of him has died and then they print him again. then there's this is classic. This is classic future. You get a clone of yourself mate. Pretty brutal. Exactly. The movie duel. Yes. The movie moon. Do you remember the movie The Seventh Day? Yes, vaguely. Arnold. That's the sixth day. Maybe. Yeah. There was also a seventh day. No, it took place over two days, the sixth day and then the seventh. Oh, sure. That's why it's a common mistake that you make. Yeah. Yeah. So, um, the, oh, this is also Bong Joon Ho who did Parasite and a bunch of other incredible movies, including Snowpiercer and Okja and Snowpiercer and the one about the weird tadpole monster that, the host, the host, which is incredible if you haven't seen that. Um, the host. The host, which is incredible if you haven't seen that.
Starting point is 00:42:45 So yeah. That was a good time for like monster movies in a period where like the West was not making. No, you're right. Was that post Cloverfield? I think it was, the host was 2006. Okay. So yeah, great.
Starting point is 00:42:59 I should watch Parasite again. You should. I don't care what you say, it's good. I don't care what- I said it's good. Yeah, I don't care. I don't care what you say. It's good. I don't care. Okay. It's good. Okay. Good. There's other trailers and whatever. I think Invincible is coming back. We'll talk about it. Right. Craven CGI'd a mouth on a person. This is sort of news. I think they CGI'd a lot of mouths. Do we need to do this? Why are they doing... Sorry. Please get into it. Please. So this is Ariana DeBose who was in this.
Starting point is 00:43:24 Calypso. Who won an Oscar for West Side Story Yep, West Side Story. We're on the West Side. We're on the East Side It's fine. It's good. It's good to live in different places and have different perspectives. Yeah, let's knife fights No, they they tie each other's hands together with it with a scarf and then they shake hands. Good. Yeah Because of how good friends they are. We're on the West Side. Anyway each other's hands together with a scarf and then they shake hands. Good. Yeah. Because of how good friends they are. We're on the West Side. Anyway, why did this happen?
Starting point is 00:43:50 Yeah, because why not just show Aaron Taylor Johnson and have her do the ADR? I think they just, I think if they did that- It's too ambitious. But it's too much ADR. Like that movie's already- Oh, that's what it is. These movies are already bristling with ADR. They're mostly ADR at this point.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Nobody's ever talking on screen in these movies. Maybe they blew the budget of ADR and they're like, we can't do it anymore. The ADR machine refuses to do any more ADR. This is that gag they do on late night where they cut out a celebrity's mouth and then somebody like talks... The lips it's called. The lips or whatever. Yeah, it's atrocious.
Starting point is 00:44:24 I can't say I noticed when I saw it, but I wasn't really paying attention. It also happens when, at least the one time I noticed it's when Craven is in prison and he speaks some Russian and they tweak the mouth because you're looking right at him. You got to look right at him. So we will do a movie commentary on this at some point soon. Have we not already done it? No, you've mistaken. We'll probably do the next one.
Starting point is 00:44:45 But while we're away, things continue to bigsandwich.co. We did a black widow movie commentary, which is just out because Thunderbolt's coming up and Captain America Bird time. I've got some very long-winded Thunderbolt theories in that. Oh yeah, you do, don't we? That particular commentary. So if you want to hear them, sign up to bigsandwich.co. I played Marvel Rivals online.
Starting point is 00:45:05 That's right. And pwned some noobs. We spoke to somebody who was a Big Sandwich subscriber. Yeah. And he said, you did really well. I don't think I did. And I'm like, I think he did, but I'm like, I didn't understand what's happening at all. I did okay. I think I got worse as I went.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Okay. I think because as I understand it, like all the, the idea behind the game is there's a bunch of different kind of Character types. Yeah, like there's like a tank and a healer and what-have-you and you're supposed to pick a team Yeah, it has all the strengths and weaknesses and then you work together But I think you just picked a character you like and just charged Yeah And then ran away and then ran away when you were hurt and then you died Captain America and then you got sniped from a Really long way. Yeah that I found a few times. Yeah, so we also covered Captain America the Winter Soldier for the comic book club That's right. So all that is out there at big sandwich.co
Starting point is 00:45:50 It is nine dollars a month if you do want to subscribe and support us You don't have to but also you can sign up and download the thousands of hours of stuff there and quit if you want That's right. Quit your job. Yeah, quit your job. Sorry your job now listening to us. Sorry boss I can't come in anymore. I've downloaded too much content. You'd be like I understand it's a world of content now isn't it? Isn't it? It's okay. That's okay.
Starting point is 00:46:11 I guess I'll find somebody else to be an ice road trucker. Well you know what boss I've come up with a compromise. What if I watched all this while driving my truck. Whilst ice road trucking? Yeah yeah yeah don't do that. Don't do it. Don't do it. Well.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Well. New movies am I right? Well well well. And TV shows. So true, isn't it? These are all the things that are coming out this year maybe unless Summer Delayed or Cancelled or Warner Brothers scraps them. Yeah. Or we just pretend they don't exist. That's fun too. Do you reckon you're going to see all of these? I'm looking at this list. It's quite extensive. Okay, let's put them in our tier list. By that I mean an imaginary tier list. Yep. We'll imagine in our minds perfectly. Yep. Different colors and levels, S tier, A, B, C, D, and I'm pretending it doesn't exist. Okay, great. Let's do that. Okay. So we're going to go through month by month.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Okay. And then we're going to know. So obviously dates will vary, depending on what region of the world you're in, also dates shift around or whatever. So, you know, but this is just a pretty rough idea of what's happening. We're going to look at January, seeing as we're still sort of in it. Aren't we? Well, we're in it. All right, we're deep in it Let's start with his den of thieves, too. Okay, but it's good. I watched it in a phase. Good, isn't it? I liked it. Isn't it heat light like it is hate. It's heat light. It's heat heat heat like it's What Heath like it Heath Heath ledger? Oh, no
Starting point is 00:47:25 mmm, not currently. Mm. Hmm. I quite enjoyed it. I actually watched I wasn't intending to watch it and I wasn't intending to watch the sequel but um, I I saw a Saw a blog from a Twitter user called vice Victus who does a lot of like Action movie podcasts. Yeah action movie blogs and tweets and so on and so forth He said it was quite good and I watched it and it is quite good. Everybody's a real grub. Yeah. We got Gerard Butler being a real grub.
Starting point is 00:47:49 Ah, he's good at that. But what I would say is if you are planning on not being spoiled for anything, maybe don't watch the Den of Thieves 2 trailer because it pretty much reveals the ending of Den of Thieves 1. Because only in the sense of like, oh, that character's still alive. Yeah. So kind of, all right. It also felt a little bit like the Ocean's movies, even the original Ocean's 11 movie. That's a terrible thing. I know, right? What'd you say that? I don't know. It just, are you mad at me? Yeah, that's right. But I thought it was a lot of fun. Yeah. It's good. It's got, it's got the original,
Starting point is 00:48:23 the first one has Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson, who is Ice lot of fun. Yeah, it's good. It's got um, it's got the original the first one has Gerard Butler and O'Shea Jackson who is ice cubes kid Yeah, and a person in his own right and Pablo Schreiber's in it and then a bunch of just guys with interesting faces Which you know, I love love that. Yeah. All right. That's the first movie. What about better man? I Haven't seen it. Yep. A lot of people people like people who have seen it like it It didn't the theick, it did bomb. It's bombed everywhere. It's bombed in Australia, it's bombed in the US, it's bombed in the UK, which is fascinating because you know, that's where Robbie Williams is a household name.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Robbie Williams did drop into Melbourne briefly to do a little concert at Federation Square. Wow. Yeah. There's the gimmick of, the gimmick of he's a monkey. You don't know who he is, but he's a monkey. Didn't work. No. Do you think they should have just a monkey you don't know who he is but he's a monkey didn't work. No, do you think they should have just done you don't know who he is maybe just start there. Maybe yeah, because that would have cost less money. I think so. I just used a regular man. But I mean, everybody who's seen it seemed to like it. And look,
Starting point is 00:49:17 what I what I do appreciate is that apparently the people at Paramount who made it said, we don't care. We don't care if this loses money. We think it's interesting. Yeah. And which is how movies used to be. Yeah. Like how the movie industry used to work is they would release, I don't know, 30 movies a year, like one studio, and some would do fine and some would bomb and some would be huge hits, which would pay for everything else. Exactly. But now the idea seems to be, well, everything has to be a billion dollar movie. And if it isn't, we cancel the franchise. Makes sense to me. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Because that's our content. Did you reckon they just said that after it bombed? No, we knew it would. And we're glad actually. We made it that way intentionally. That's right. Robbie Williams has some good music as well. I think you could enjoy this.
Starting point is 00:50:00 I haven't seen it, but you could enjoy it. You could enjoy it. Absolutely. You could see it. We're not currently supporting it. We're not currently in the cinema watching. It's fun to make fun of though, isn't it? The internet seemed to be a joy making fun of it Yeah, but I mean it's it's it's sort of pointless given that it is, you know, it's yeah
Starting point is 00:50:14 It's a movie that is making fun of itself as one scene. Also a friend Alexi. He loved it He's seen it a bunch of times Wow But again, sometimes people who really love movies get cinephile madness Yeah, that's true. You gotta see this and you're like, come on man. You've got cinephile madness and space dementia You've got space dementia. Then we've got Wolfman and Dogman two very different movies Okay, is Dogman a kids movie? Yeah, it's been off of Captain Underpants. I'm gonna say that with my kids probably You're gonna see Wolfman with your kids? No, that's bombing. I found that I thought that would have been really interesting. People have said it's okay. Yeah, I really like Lee
Starting point is 00:50:49 Whannell. Directed by Lee Whannell who also directs, I mean a bunch of things, you know, the Saw franchise is his, but he directed the Invisible Man, which is very good. Upgrade, which is incredible. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I will check this out when it probably when it comes to streaming though. Or maybe I'll see it this week if we talk about it next week. Yeah, we got it. We got a lot of stuff to catch up on for next week. Paddington in Peru. Okay. Apparently not as good as the other ones.
Starting point is 00:51:10 I know. But fine in a zone like- Some people say Paddington and Paddington 2 are perfect movies. Yeah, more like Paddington and the Pooh. This is the Shrek 3 of the Paddington franchise. Is that good? I don't think it's that bad. No, you've seen Shrek 3.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Have I? Yeah, we did videos on them. That's terrific. Yeah, that's terrific. They also recast The Mum. So it's that bad. No, you've seen Trek 3. Have I? Yeah, we did videos on them. That's terrific. Yeah, that's terrific They also recast the mum. So it was okay Sally Field. Yeah, Sally Field. She was from the Shape of Water. Oh, it was Sally Hawkins Okay, and then it became who's amazing obviously and then it became Emily Mortimer who's also really good Mm-hmm, but uh, not your cup of, seemingly. It's not what I said at all.
Starting point is 00:51:46 I like it. You said a real downgrade. I think Sally Hawkins was like a real, like, it was a good get for those. I think she really added to it. I think. Yeah. And then you said this new one's a real downgrade. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Then the movie companion, which is about a robot AI. That's your girlfriend. Sure. But maybe you don't like that. Maybe it doesn't like you. Maybe she gets reprogrammed to murder. I saw the trailer. It looks fun.
Starting point is 00:52:10 It does look fun. Well there's a new trailer and it looks interesting. Jack Quaid. Jack Quaid's got some big guys. He's in two big movies. Oh we've got another one. He's also in Novocaine, which I saw the trailer to the other day about a man who can't feel any pain and he's got to rescue his girlfriend or something.
Starting point is 00:52:22 Who's a different girlfriend from the one companion. He's not trying to rescue his murderous sex. No, no, no. That's so Sophie Thatcher is in that. And Lucas Gage is a good cast. I like it. Rupert Friend? He's no Rupert Friend of mine, Mason.
Starting point is 00:52:37 Why not? Because we've never met. Interesting. Do you think you would be a good friend to Rupert Friend if you didn't? It depends. I don't want it to be one of those relationships where like we feel obligated to do things for each other. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:47 You know, I don't want to feel like there is that give and take. I want it to evolve naturally where maybe occasionally we do kind things to each other, but it's more about just hanging out. I can ask him about Obi-Wan. Do you think Rupert Friend feels obligated to be people's friends because his name is Rupert Friend? Yeah, definitely. But I don't want to put that on him.
Starting point is 00:53:01 Do you think his attitude is Rupert Friend by name, your friend by nature? That's his motto? Do you know? That's his family motto. I don't know him put that attitude is Rupert Rupert friend by name your friend by nature That's his that's his motto. Do you know his family? I don't know him. But do you know him? No, he doesn't I mean he's in his Wikipedia photo. It doesn't he doesn't strike me as somebody's trying to be your friend He's got a little mustache. Yeah, though. He's looking stern You know, well Rupert friend shoot me a text. He's 43. So I reckon we'd have you know, we have some cultural references We have some culture and we've both seen the gel over one exactly I'd be like do you remember aggro's Cartoon Connection and he would say no because I'm from England probably Oh, yeah, we didn't get that. Do you remember British aggro's Cartoon Connection? I'll say it's right. You'll say yes, right
Starting point is 00:53:42 Also in terms of TV shows the rookie Rookie Season 7 started in January. Is this a joke that you're happy with bringing into 2025? Absolutely. Let's bring it in. The fact that I'm your contention out seemingly out of nowhere that I'm obsessed with the TV series, The Rookie, starring Nathan Fillion. I don't think you're obsessed. You just like it.
Starting point is 00:54:00 And that's fine. You said obsessed. I don't dislike it because I've had no experience with the TV show The Rookie. You would think at this point I would maybe try a couple of episodes and I thought maybe as a gag I would do that but I haven't. Do you like gags though? Imagine the god the raucous laughter that would occur. Oh my god yeah. God it would bring peace to the world wouldn't it? Are you gonna jump into season seven though? I mean you would because you've already caught up. I feel like Are you going to jump into season seven though? I mean you would because you've already caught up.
Starting point is 00:54:24 I feel like if I was going to start I might start at season seven. That's crazy. I know right. What are you doing? I'd watch a six season recap that I made and then I would watch season seven. Because I don't know I feel like, I don't know do I want to start watching the show that has only just found that it's still finding its feet in season one? Yeah good point.
Starting point is 00:54:43 All right let's do February. Love Hurts Mason. Which one is it? That's the Kehue Kwan action comedy. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Good. I saw maybe an Instagram post about this and Kehue Kwan, of course he won an Oscar. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:57 And then he's like, I'm not sure about, you know, sometimes post Oscar, you know, some people's choices are not great or the op things they're given. Ariana DeBose, for example, is in Craven. And then he went to Steven Spielberg and he said, Steven Spielberg said, you got any good ideas? And he went, what about this movie? And Steven Spielberg said, I'll green like that. So, you know, must be nice.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Must be nice to be friends with Steven Spielberg. I'm going to ask Steven Spielberg that next time I see him. Oh yeah. Sorry, for the first time I see him. Yeah. Will you be my Rupert friend? You could say to Steven Spielberg. Yeah, Rupert friend is not returning my calls. I need you to. Then we've got Captain America birding about. That's right. Captain America
Starting point is 00:55:31 four. The Red Hulk probably in it for five minutes at the end. That's right. I just don't know man. I don't know. You don't know. Yeah. I'm not. I'm not in love with it. You excited to see the leader? Not really. Are you? Yeah, kind of. I should be. Yeah. But'm not, I'm not loving it. You excited to see the leader? Not really. Are you? Yeah, kind of. I should be. Yeah. But no.
Starting point is 00:55:50 That's a callback from years ago. Maybe. Frickin' ages ago. Maybe the Hulk could have his own villains in his own movies. No? Nah. Okay, all right, fair enough. Do you think Sebastian Stan's gonna be in it?
Starting point is 00:56:00 I don't care. That's interesting. I'm more excited for Thunderbolts. That he's definitely in. Yes'm more excited for Thunderbolts. That he's definitely in. Yes, and I really like that trailer. And we recently again watched Black Widow, which he's not in.
Starting point is 00:56:13 But I like a bunch of the characters in that, that flow over into Thunderbolts. But you know, I'd love to be surprised Mason! That's right. I'd love to go into cinemas and go, wow! Also apparently it's only got a budget of $180 million. So it doesn't need to make a billion dollars plus to break even which I think is smart. But it did get reshot a bunch. I don't know. I would love
Starting point is 00:56:36 to be surprised. But I don't have the highest of hopes. Sounds to me like you're pitching your expectations very low. Yes I am. Yes I am. Yep. Great. Good. Good. Good. Then we've got The Gorge. You know this one? I think it goes straight to Apple streaming. It's Miles Teller and Furiosa and your Taylor Joy. And they're on opposite sides of this gorge.
Starting point is 00:56:56 Okay. But The Gorge is the gate to hell. Oh, I have seen the trailer to Gorge. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's totally, it's gorge. It looks gorge, doesn't it? So they're both, they're both... Looks fake, by the way
Starting point is 00:57:06 Does look kind of fake it looks like at one point they might like Run towards the gorge and leap in them in the air and kiss or whatever. Yeah, it's got that vibe Yeah, so the so they're both Did from different they both from different nations? I guess and they were assigned to a little outpost at one end of the gorge and they're both snipers, I guess. Yeah, Scott Derrickson. I like him because he directed first Doctor Strange, Sinister, The Black Phone. I like his movies. That's interesting. But it's like, don't go into the gorge.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Don't go in there. So you know they're going to go into the gorge. They're going to have to. They're going to get curious about the gorge and about falling in love. Let's go in the gorge. I just did the trailer for that. It's kind of fun. Let's go in the gorge. And there's monsters in the gorge probably. Let's get in this gorge, boys. go in the gorge. I just did the trial for that. It's kind of fun. Let's go in the gorge. Yeah, there's monsters in the gorge probably. Let's get in this gorge boys. Let's get in the gorge.
Starting point is 00:57:49 This actually isn't gorge at all now that I'm down here. No, it's hell. But with hell monsters, actually. I want my money back. Agreed. Then we've got The Monkey. Let's see the trailer for this. Yeah, so this is based on a Stephen King short story. Yeah. And it's directed by Osgood Perkins, who is the long legs guy. Oh, that's I didn't know that. Mr. Long Legs. Look how long my legs are. Pretty normal. They're normal legs.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Normal legs. And this is about a family that acquires a like one of like a like a symbol clashing toy monkey thing, but it wants to kill them. Yes. And it causes sort of Final Destination style murders and all of them. Isn't Oz Perkins in like legally blonde? He is okay Great, and he's Anthony Perkins Grandson the guy from um, so yeah, he looks like him. He does it's true. Yeah. Yeah, there you go Let's see then. We've got the unbreakable boy
Starting point is 00:58:38 What exactly by tour to boy not to have autism is he the boy? He's the man the man interesting good to see he have autism. Is he the boy? No, he's the man. He's the man. Interesting. Good to see he's moving along from being the boy. Being a man with the mind of a boy. Now you have to see this. Do you think he can tap into the mind of a boy? Could he? In his own mind?
Starting point is 00:58:55 He's the mind of him being a boy? Yeah, he can do it. When he was a boy? I thought you were going to say, could he tap into the mind of a man? Oh, he could do that. Yeah. I'm not going to watch this.
Starting point is 00:59:04 You made some illusion that I have to but I don't have to. That's the twist here. The director of this whose name is Michael Gunn. He's done a lot of like, Christian movies like The Case for Christ, Do You Believe, Ordinary Angels, The Unbreakable Boy Who Has Autism. All good movies. What is the actual plot of Unbreakable Boy? This boy can't be broken.
Starting point is 00:59:29 Will Zach Levi be able to break him? When Scott and Theresa learn that their son, Austin, is autistic, Austin autistic, that's good, and has brittle bone disease, wow, double shot, alright. Like Unbreakable! Exactly. They worry about his future. However, with Scott's growing faith and Austin's incredible spirit,
Starting point is 00:59:47 they become unbreakable as they find joy, gratitude and courage. Patricia Heaton's in this. Yeah, you happy with that? She's... Lot of things. She's... Medium.
Starting point is 00:59:58 Yep. Is she medium? I don't know, but isn't she, isn't she Debois? Isn't she Debois? Oh, that, oh, I'm thinking of the one from Severance. I'm thinking of Debois from Everybody Loved Waymond. Waymond.
Starting point is 01:00:10 Debois. Oh, it's based on the book The Unbreakable Way of Father's Fear and Son's Courage and the story of unconditional love. So there you go. That's great. Maybe it'll be a beautiful story. I'm never gonna watch that. Beautiful story.
Starting point is 01:00:20 Then we've got a movie which I am shocked is coming out. Go on. It's the Day the Earth Blew blew up a Looney Tunes movie. You know about this? No, this isn't one of the ones that got written off. No. Due to a series of antics at the bubble gum factory, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig discover a secret alien plot to take over Earth via mind control.
Starting point is 01:00:38 The duo must work together to stop the aliens while trying to avoid driving each other insane. Wow, wow, wow. Wayne Knight's in it. As the mayor. I was going to be like like is this a fucking like sequel to space jam because way nights in space and I'll pay Yeah, it better not pay Um, is this all animated or is this a mix of live-action and animation? Uh, I don't know but it is a good question Isn't it? It's a great question. Thank you. He plays Stan Poddelak in Space Jam. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:01:08 Well, it could be, because maybe Stan became the mayor. Yeah. All right, cool. That's February for you. Except for shows, we've got Invincible Season 3. They're not doing half and half like they did last time. They're going to episode a week or maybe three to start with. Are we going to do Season of the Boys this year?
Starting point is 01:01:23 Maybe at some point. I don't know the date on that. We've got Yellow Jacket season three. All right. And we've got Reacher season three, Bigger Reacher. Oh, he's going to fight the Bigger Reacher guy. Yeah. That's great.
Starting point is 01:01:32 I don't watch that show. There should be a sequence where they fight in like a Godzilla style cardboard city. Whoa. Or a regular city. It's a regular city. But it's cardboard? No, they should be just fighting in Washington DC or wherever the season set. Cool. It just cuts to them towering around each other.
Starting point is 01:01:49 Yeah, that's good. Picking up the Washington Monument and smashing each other with it. That'd be cool. All right, we've got this one coming up in March. We've got In the Land of the Lost. It's a Paul W. Sanderson slash Milla Jovovich movie. Resident Evil Zone. Oh, it's going to be Monster Hunter style? Yeah, probably. I don't care about this at all. I watched Monster Hunter. Okay, great. How'd that go?
Starting point is 01:02:09 Yeah, it was good. Nah. Mickey 17. You're excited for this one? Yes, I am. One of my most anticipated movies of the year. It looks wackier than the book as well, which I have read. Okay.
Starting point is 01:02:20 Mickey 17 is, Mickey 7 is a fun book and might be getting a sequel. Oh. No, it is getting a sequel. Oh, no, it is getting a sequel but I like how weird Robert Pattinson is in interviews. I saw him do a A korean color matching thing. Oh, yeah. Yeah, that was fun. Yeah. Yeah, he's an odd duck and I like that about him That's right. Um, then we've got black bag, which is a steven soderbergh soderbergh This is even his first soda. This isn't even the first isn't even the only Soderbergh movie coming out this year. What's the other one?
Starting point is 01:02:48 Presence. Presence? The horror movie set from the perspective of the poltergeist. Oh. Yeah. Black Bag. So this is Cate Blanchett and... Black Bag. No, it's Black Bag.
Starting point is 01:03:00 It's the guy. The guy's in all sorts of stuff. He's in The Killer. Oh, Michael Fassbender. Michael Fassbender. It's got Reggie Jean guy the guys in all that stuff isn't the killer. Oh Michael Fassbender Michael Fassbender It's got a Reggie Jean page. Yeah, I'll go piece Brosnan. I'll piss Brosnan's in it I was in it. It's got Tom Burke. He was mad max sort of in Furiosa So this is what if you were a married couple couple of spies? Oh, what and then they're like what if what would you spy on your other half? Isn't there that fucking Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx did that last, like two days ago?
Starting point is 01:03:27 I don't know. It just came out. Oh yeah, right, right. Back in action or whatever. You're a spy? That's so cool. I thought you were just a bunch of fucking nerds. Nah, we're cool parents actually.
Starting point is 01:03:36 I'm gonna do a kick. Great. Wow. Love that idea. Well now I don't have to watch either of those movies, because you've described them so perfectly. Absolutely skewered them. Why would I bother watching any movies actually after that? I've skewed them haven't I? You've skewed every movie Novocaine so after that We mentioned that Jack Wade can't feel pain has to rescue his girlfriend
Starting point is 01:03:56 Jack, Jack Wade having a bit of a run very very much crank vibes. Yeah crank vibes. We've got Disney Snow White Crank vibes. Yeah crank vibes. We've got Disney Snow White. Oh People on the internet are mad about it people have opinions about this movie that probably won't be good regardless It'll be as good as all the other Disney live-action remakes. So not that good. Correct. Yeah, I like Rachel's egg I don't like Snow White just in general. So this is nothing to you I'm not it's yeah, and I will not go into bat for it Wow, and yet you're going to bat for the unbreakable boy, which you say is your pick. I want to see if he can break that boy. Yeah. I think he can. I think you can fold him in half like a card table. Crack. Then we got, did you see the trailer for this? The woman in the yard?
Starting point is 01:04:40 No. Spooky stuff. No. Check out the trailer. Looks fun. Spooky. And then we've got a working man, which is a Jason Statham. He's a guy but he's actually a more dangerous guy. Do you think they're going to end up folding all his characters in together like this and the beekeeper or whatever? And it's like an Avengers style team of like- The mechanic. And is this David Leitch again? Is it? I think it might be. No, it's um, oh is it? It's not David Leitch, it's David Ayer.
Starting point is 01:05:04 David Ayer? David Ayer again? Because he did The Beekeeper. Fuck, it is David Ayer. Yeah, they're just doing it again. Wow. They're just doing the same movie again. David Harbour's in it. Who might be in The Beekeeper?
Starting point is 01:05:14 Yeah, maybe. I don't think he is. So what if it was the transporter, The Beekeeper, a working man, the mechanic, his character from Death Race. Bank Job. Bank Job guy. Just whoever is in The Expendables his character from Death Race. Bank Job. Bank Job guy. Just whoever is in the Expendables. Tommy from Snatch.
Starting point is 01:05:29 Yeah, perfect. Yeah. And... When he was an Olympic diver. When he was an Olympic diver. I was just thinking about that. And he's just walking around in his Speedo and he's grown the sides of his hair back. You know?
Starting point is 01:05:40 He's still believing in that dream of a living dive gold and having hair. Yeah. That'd be wonderful. Beautiful. Yeah. I love this. Yeah. And they're all just like, you what?
Starting point is 01:05:52 Like all this. You what? You what? You toilet. I'll say this. He's very consistent. He does convincing action. They're never terrible.
Starting point is 01:06:02 They're never terrible. It's true. Yeah. Let's go. Yeah. Then we got Daredevil Bourne again. We're never terrible. They're never terrible. It's true. Yeah. Let's go. Yeah. Then we got Daredevil Bourne again. We talked about it. All right. That's March. That's exciting.
Starting point is 01:06:10 OK, that's good. Then April, we've got Screamboat. What do you mean? We did that Mickey. Mickey's out of copyright, so they just make a bad horror movie. Oh, I see. And it's the guy who's aren't the clown in Terrifier. He's Steamboat Willie.
Starting point is 01:06:21 Great. Yep, great. Oh, we didn't even talk about all the stuff that's out of copyright this year. What's out of copyright? Oh, that some of, some of Popeye, just one of Tintin. One of his arms. I think Tintin, hang on. I'm going to bring-
Starting point is 01:06:34 Is it the racist stuff from Tintin? Yes, it's the racist stuff. The one that I don't publish anymore. Because it's racist. Yeah. I'm going to out of copyright 2025. 2025. 2025.
Starting point is 01:06:49 2025 in copyright, public domain. There we go. Here we go. I mean, obviously it's not everything because there's different laws in different places. Yes, yes, yes. I don't want the Wikipedia page. I just want a quick summary. God Mason, you're so pedantic.
Starting point is 01:07:04 I know, right? Like here's a USA Today article. This should be good. Is Mason, you're so pedantic. I know, right? Like here's a USA Today article. This should be good. Is that from today? No. It's from January 3, which is far from today, isn't it? Yeah, man. Yes.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Well, William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, and his timing was a farewell to arms, blah, blah, blah, blah. The Black Watch directed by John Ford. I don't like any of this, what you're saying. Tin Tin? The whole thing. No, it just says. The Black Watch directed by John Ford. I don't like any of this what you're saying. Tintin? The whole thing. No, it just says... The racist stuff. Tintin's in Les Adventures de Tintin from the magazine Le Petit Devingte Tintin,
Starting point is 01:07:35 which I think is like the early stuff. Okay, great. Some of Popeye? Singing in the rain. I'm singing in this rain. I thought there'd be more. Soon it's gonna be Batman. It's not long.
Starting point is 01:07:46 Oh God, we're gonna get Batman, but what if he was a murderer? We did that. It was called Batman v Superman. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, man. Yeah. Well, that was a fun segment. It was a fun segment, wasn't it? Some things are out of copyright.
Starting point is 01:07:58 All right, so April, Screamboat. Then we've got a Minecraft movie. Oh, yep. Well? Uh, don't care. But? Could be good, but probably not. Do kids it's just the mind mind.
Starting point is 01:08:10 Mind. Mind. I agree with you. Then we've got drop, which recently got a trailer. It's cell phone murder dinner. Do you see that one? Oh, yeah. She goes on a date and she gets a call and it's like, I've got your kids hostage.
Starting point is 01:08:21 Kill your date. Yeah. So it's pretty cellular. Cellular or something else like that happened recently. No, it was something more recent. Interesting. Oh, flight. Carry on.
Starting point is 01:08:34 Oh yeah, flight risk. Flight risk. That's already out, I think. Yeah, apparently it's bad. Great. Well, you know. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:44 You know, Mel Gibson's been busy, hasn't he? Yeah, sure, sure sure sure sure you see says stuff doesn't he? Yeah, he's got thoughts and opinions Yep, he's got he's got anecdotes. Yeah, he looks like he's about to chew his fucking tongue off. I wonder what that's about Mason then we've got oh Sinners, that's the Ryan Coogler vampire brothers. That's right, which may be based on a comic book, but then suddenly it wasn't or something That's what happens. Yeah, because Ryan Coogler was gonna probably dropped it. He might have dropped it. Ryan Coogler was going to direct a movie based on the comic book bitter root. Yeah. And then he did, which is about vampires. Yeah. African Americans. Nice. Nice. Good. That's good. Great stuff. good stuff. You're doing you're doing you're doing good. But then this movie came out. So what's going on there? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Go. Well, I'm looking forward to it. Then I've got the accountants to account to Ben Affleck and John Berenthal about his back as Mr. Autistic Accountant. That's correct. He's going to do some gun Carter on you or whatever. And then we've got it's a trailer that I haven't seen. But people have been talking about it. It's an adaptation of Until Dawn. Carter on you or whatever. And then we've got it's a trailer that I haven't seen but
Starting point is 01:09:45 people have been talking about it's an adaptation of Until Dawn. Okay yeah so did you watch the trailer for this? Yes. But it's by the guy who did the Shazam movies. Great good. His name is Supermassive Games. Right. Yeah. No his name is David F Sandberg. So he, he's got his start in horror. So I think this would be, could be quite good. Yeah. But we'll see. I have some other horror stuff here. I don't know if you've got it all listed there. I might. But there's a sequel to Black Phone. Black Phone 2 is coming out. Yes, I really like Black Phone as mentioned. Mithregan 2 is coming out. Yes, I got that on my list. There's a new final destination. Yep, got that too.
Starting point is 01:10:26 You're just getting ahead of me, Mason. I'm getting ahead of you. I'll save these till the end. Here's some shows that are coming out in that month of April. Government Cheese, which is on Apple TV Plus. And then Andor Season 1, which is always available. But you can also see Andor Season 2, which is also coming out. That's terrific. May gone. I talk about the month of May Yes Thunderbolts asterix. Yes, you got a bunch of theories final destination bloodlines Oh, yes, I mean if you're the son or daughter of someone who got final destination
Starting point is 01:10:57 I don't know supposed to exist because your parents like final destination six time to final destination to something like that I don't know. Yes, it does. Circular. And we've got Lilo. I wrote Lilo on Stitch. Okay. But it's supposed to be Lilo or Stitch.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Okay. It's not just Lilo giving an interview where they're like, you know, Stitch. Yeah. Don't do that. No good. We don't like you. It's live action. But there hasn't been a bunch of Lilo and Stitch stuff really. It could be all right.
Starting point is 01:11:26 I like Lilo and Stitch. Okay, great. Then we've got Mission Impossible, the final reckoning. Whoa. Damn, you excited for that? Yes. Dude, I'm jazzed out of my mind. Is Jeremy Renner in it?
Starting point is 01:11:37 Is he gonna rent around? Is he gonna rent around? He probably won't do too much renting around. No. But he could do some action beats still. I agree. He's looking fit as hell. He's unsquashed. I'm glad he's alive. Me too.
Starting point is 01:11:47 God damn. Good on you Jeremy Renner. Mission Impossible Final Reckoning. Excited for that? Yes. Apparently the stunts are crazy. That's what their movie makers are saying. I don't know. There's been no precedence for that. I don't like his hair, Mason. Tom Cruise's hair in this one. It's stupid. Wow. He looks stupid. He looks like a stupid idiot. I can't remember what his hair looks like. It's too long. He's trying to do Mission Impossible 2.
Starting point is 01:12:10 Oh, I see. But mate, it's Mission Impossible 9 or whatever. Yeah, it's so true, isn't it? Not the year 2000, brother. Yes. Then we've got Karate Kid Legends. Okay. Which is Jackie Chan slash Ralph Marchio slash a new kid doing karate kids on each other. Yeah. He's not gonna have. Apparently it doesn't tie in. Okay. I mean it loosely ties in but not really. Are we gonna have, what's her face in it? Elizabeth Shoe?
Starting point is 01:12:32 No, the lady from. Hilary Swank. Hilary Swank. The lady from Hilary Swank. Hilary Swank. The lady from Hilary Swank's house who lives there. Hilary Swank. Hilary Swank, yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:41 And then maybe we'll be getting the last of our season two I think that month. Right, okay Great well batten down the hatches everybody's gonna be very happy about that For so many reasons June we've got ballerina a John wick adventure. Oh, yeah, they got completely reshot I believe we might be in it. Yeah, you might be like You think yeah, probably sure. Yeah, that's all getting reshot Someone directed it. I want to say who directed it initially? It was like the guy from Underworld, I think, or something.
Starting point is 01:13:11 Okay. Yeah. Who was it? And then David Leitchley came in and redo it. Len Wiseman did it. That's right. Terrific. And then it got massively reshot.
Starting point is 01:13:21 So we'll find out. Intriguing. Oh, when I Googled that, it said the Grey Man? No. No, absolutely. That's not what I said, man. Please somebody, when I Googled that it said The Grey Man? No. No, absolutely not. That's not what I said, man. Please somebody, we've got all these results for The Grey Man. Can somebody click on them? No. No.
Starting point is 01:13:31 Absolutely not. That costs them money as well. Every time I don't click on that. That's right. And we've got Elio, it's Pixar's whatever. Okay, sure. What if he was a... Yep. Then we've got How Are You Going To Train Your Dragon? Live action remake. How are you feeling about that, Mason?
Starting point is 01:13:44 No interest. I like those movies. But apparently this one is one to one your dragon? Live action remake. How are you feeling about that, Mason? No interest. I like those movies. But apparently this one is one to one. So let's go. Okay. Let's go. And see the movie. Okay, sure.
Starting point is 01:13:53 You don't think so? I don't think so. Okay. Well, I'll see it with my kids. Right. And you can stand in the foyer. Great. Good.
Starting point is 01:14:01 You can't go to the bathroom or be on your phone. That's fine. I hate both of those things. Yeah? I would never do them. You hate both of those things. Yeah, I would never do them Correct yes, then we got 28 years later. That's right. You know a lot of buzz Zombies except Murphy not in this one. Apparently, I think he might be in it a little bit I don't think he's not gonna be not in it. Yeah, it's got Aaron Taylor Johnson. Mm-hmm. Sure. Maybe he'll be in a good movie He's in this right here. He is too. Yeah, I haven't seen that yet. So I can't confirm whether be in a good movie. He's in Nels Ferato. He is too. I haven't seen that yet
Starting point is 01:14:26 so I can't confirm whether it's a good movie. I have seen it. It is a good movie. I like him though. I just wish he did more good movies. And he has done good movies. But I wish he'd do more recently. Me too. Yeah. F1, the Formula One Brad Pitt movie. Okay, sure. All right. And then M'Thugen, which is M'Thregan. Now this is now they've I'm pretty confident they aren't they doing M'Thregan's an anti-hero now or something? Oh they're doing the Terminator. Yeah they're gonna team it up with the humans to fight a different M'Thregan I think. Oh yeah. Let's go then. Let's go. And apparently that month in June we're also getting Ironheart finally. Oh yeah. Which is gonna come out. And then it's gonna spin off into Armour Wars. And
Starting point is 01:15:08 we're gonna have a great time in that movie or TV show is definitely coming. That's happening. It's happening. July. Go on. Jurassic World Rebirth. Apparently more accurate dinosaurs in it. Feathery? No. Slimy. Biggerer. Biggerer. So they've got like, I've seen this thing and I don't know where, Madrasic Park channel I think, can't remember. But a lot of time the way that they'll shape a dinosaur they'll do, they'll hug the skin real tight to it. But they're actually, they're quite a bit like broader and fatter. So sloppier dinosaurs. Dinosaur with sloppier rigs. Yeah man. Okay, true. You like that? That's what we want, yes. That's right. Then we've got, That's what we want. Yes. That's right. Then we've got Please be good Superman yes, please be good. Please be good. Please be great. Actually, it's be great
Starting point is 01:15:50 Yeah, I think I've had a bad run show all the haters. Yeah, they're wrong Why I think I've had a bad run though right on movies that I've picked that most and oh, yeah You kind of doom them don't they don't you was last year's one that I doomed You said Harold and the purple crayon will be the best movie ever made. I haven't seen it so I don't know. Yeah, that's true. Could still be. I mean, to be on the safe side, you probably shouldn't watch Superman then.
Starting point is 01:16:12 I shouldn't? Yeah, you shouldn't. But I would like to watch it. I've been looking for it. I like the trailer a lot. No, you can't. All right. Well, if that's what I have to do to make everybody else happy.
Starting point is 01:16:21 No, you're going to have to. No, I'm going to watch it and ruin it. Great. I know what you did last summer again. Yeah. The Smurfs, the movie. All right. Sure.
Starting point is 01:16:30 And then we've got fantastic voice in the Smurfs Jack Black. Yeah. Okay. Or he's in it. He's like this. Well, I'm small again. Then we got Fantastic Four First Steps. Also looking forward to that.
Starting point is 01:16:39 Please be good. I need to see more of it though, because I haven't seen much of it. We could watch the whole movie when it comes out in July. Whatever you say. I'm busy. Okay. August. The bad guys too. Like the books didn't mind the first one.
Starting point is 01:16:51 Naked gun. You know about this? Liam Neeson? Yes. Naked gun? Didn't know they'd made that. I hope we don't see his naked gun. Oh yes.
Starting point is 01:16:59 For, you know. Sure. Have you heard the rumours? I've heard the rumours. I've heard all the rumours. Yeah, interesting, right? Yeah. I mean, if anybody can do it, it's him. I've heard the rumors. I've heard all the rumors. Yeah. Interesting. Right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:07 I mean, if anybody can do it, it's him. I think, I mean, he's got a deadpan skill that, you know, is perhaps underappreciated. Pam Anderson's in it. She's having a bit of research. And yeah, she's going to be in, I don't know if you have that there, but she's in the last show girl. That's doing good. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:19 Good. Getting good reviews. So Akiva Schaefer is directing this. That's Keith from the Lonely Island. Yeah, he did Chippendale Rescue Rangers, Pop Star, Never Stop Never Stopping, Hot Rod, other things. Great, great. Good stuff.
Starting point is 01:17:33 I like that. Palm Springs, he did as well. So let's, you know, Naked Gun. You got to play that straight, right? Yeah, absolutely. You got to just commit to a deadpan. Which Liam Neeson can do. Do you think this will do well?
Starting point is 01:17:46 Probably not. Yeah. Yeah, I, who knows? Is it even going to cinemas or is this a direct-to-stream? This feels like it's going directly to Peacock. Yeah, it does feel like that. I mean, I didn't mind Rescue Rangers either. It is on Paramount Pictures, so it could go
Starting point is 01:18:02 It'll go to Paramount Plus. Paramount Plus. I think that is a, if that gets gets a cinema, I would like it to get a cinema release. A comedy movie in a theatre. I don't think it's happening. Yeah, apparently it's scheduled for release August and it got pushed from July. Okay, but it's done. It's finished. Apparently. Then we've got The Battle of Bactan Cross. This is a Paul Thomas Anderson movie with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Starting point is 01:18:24 Oh. Bactan Cross. Alright. Okay, Anderson movie with Leonardo DiCaprio Oh Bactan cross Alright, okay. Great. Good good combination of people then. I've got freakier Friday. Whoa this Friday just got even freakier Lindsay Layne again bit of a resurgence in whatever hot job Jamie Fox Lee Curtis as well. She's swapping bodies with Jamie Foxx. Jamie Foxx. Yes. The actor. Yep. That's good. I agree. That would be funny.
Starting point is 01:18:48 Don't you think? I think so too. That's what's funny about movies. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we're going with, this is just Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan again, it's not, they're not adding a third person. There will probably be a third person, I assume.
Starting point is 01:18:59 But I don't know. I never saw Freaky Friday or the reboot Freaky Friday. Interesting. Yeah. Then we're gonna movie Mercy, which is a sci-fi movie starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson and it's directed by Timur Berkmanbatov. Do you remember who that is?
Starting point is 01:19:15 Does he do? You know this guy. Oh, is it something really bad? I wouldn't say really bad, it's very Russian. Oh, it's Night Watch. Oh it's um Nightwatch. He did Nightwatch, Daywatch those movies. He also did the Ben-Hur remake apparently. We should revisit Nightwatch. Slash Daywatch. Oh he did Wanted. I didn't love Wanted. No no no no no. Alright yeah let's see. No we've got Nobody too. Let me ask you this though before
Starting point is 01:19:40 we get into that. Let me ask you something. Do you do we not like Wanted because it's average? Yeah. Or do we not like Wanted because it's average? Yeah. Or do we not like Wanted because it's, it's a, the comic book, it's an adaptation of a comic book, which was really kind of colorful and interesting and they sort of really streamlined it down to nothing in particular. Probably both. It's probably both.
Starting point is 01:20:00 It's got a cool video game adaptation. I see. Yeah. But, uh, are we just mad at it because they didn't cast Eminem? Yes. Yeah. And he's mad at that too. I think so too. Yeah. Sorry. Nobody too. Sure. Sure. Old man, but yeah, secretly. Bob Odenkirk nearly died making the first one and he did die. I guess. Yeah, he died for a little bit. Yeah. But he's back.
Starting point is 01:20:18 I think he's going to die again for this one. Good. Yeah. I like him. Yeah. Convincing action. What do you think it's gonna, you know, it'd be funny if nobody to... Like every action sequence cut to a really, really obvious stuntman. Because he's like, I'm not risking dying again. I literally died. I'm not gonna... They even just have him... He's like, okay old man, let's see what you got. And then you just see Bob Odenkirk,
Starting point is 01:20:38 like he's just standing there and he moves mostly out of shot but not entirely. And then a very obvious stuntman walks in. Yes, boys. On screen at the same time. Incredible. And he's like, I nearly died on the last one. there and he moves mostly out of shot but not entirely and then a very obvious stuntman walks in. Yes please. They both not screen at the same time. Incredible. And he's like I nearly died on the last. I'm allowed to do this. I'm allowed.
Starting point is 01:20:50 Do not cut. Yeah. I mean yeah we nearly didn't get the end of Better Call Saul. Yeah. Which would have been a tragedy in itself. That's right. And then we might be getting Alien Earth which is the Noah Hawley Alien series. We might also be getting Predator Badlands.
Starting point is 01:21:04 Yeah so that's coming up in? September, October, November. Okay, I'll remember to be surprised when you say it. I hope you are. September, The Conjuring Last Rites, I don't know what that is, Downton Abbey 3. Well I imagine it's a movie in the Conjuring franchise. Yeah, but I've never seen any of them. Okay, Patrick Wilson's in it. Haven't they finished Conjuring things? Maybe. It might be a prequel though where he's not in it. Maybe he's not in it but maybe he plays his dad. Yeah. And he's got the DNA thing where your dad looks exactly like you. I'm your dad Patrick Wilson. That's right it's me Patrick Wilson. Let me check the cast. Okay is it Patrick Wilson? And Vera Fomiga? Is she in that? Yep that's right. Okay great. As the Warrens. Famous for
Starting point is 01:21:39 being con people. Mason, Downton Abbey 3. Alright. Let's get Downton Abbey everybody. There's already been two Downton Abbey 3. All right. Let's get Downton Abbey everybody. There's been already been two Downton Abbey movies. I thought there was only one. No, there's only one. Wow. I said they're going one and then three. Yeah, it's funny. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:53 Because it's a comedy. And then you're running around the cinema looking for Downton Abbey 2, but they just never made it. They never made it. Classic prank. Classic Downton Abbey. They should introduce more 1950s college pranks to movies. The movie industry.
Starting point is 01:22:04 Not in movies. You're talking just around movies. Around movies, yeah. Wow, that's interesting. Yeah, yeah. We should be short-cheating the beds of David Zaslav and all his cronies. What's going on? I can't get in my bed. Can't get in his bed, basically.
Starting point is 01:22:18 Can't get in his bed. Zaslav, you idiot. How do you short-cheat something? What's the process of that? I don't know how it works. But the idea, I don't know. I guess the prank is just that it looks like a normal bed and you go into it, but the sheets there, so you can't get your full body in there.
Starting point is 01:22:30 You can't even get, how would you even? I don't know, man. How would you even get out of that? How would you? I don't know. I don't know, man. Jokes were good back in the day. You could never do that now. That's right. Yeah. Sheets are too long. Right?
Starting point is 01:22:42 Kids have too good these days. They have anti-shedding technology Yeah for safety purposes. You can't short-sheet a bed any it's pathetic. It is pathetic. Isn't it? You know Grow up can't even drink from the hose anymore You're not allowed to Saw X1 Okay Okay, is this a sequel set after the one we got last time it was in the past. Yeah, probably. Okay, is this a sequel set after the one we got last time, which was in the past?
Starting point is 01:23:08 Yeah, probably. Okay, great. More adventures, because where he's been turned into a vigilante, I guess. They killed him too early. Yeah, they did. And then October, we've got Michael. Oh, that's the Michael Jackson movie. All right.
Starting point is 01:23:22 They've had to refilm that. That's in trouble. Yeah. That's in trouble. Yeah. That's in trouble because apparently they filmed the third act about one of the kids that accused him of all his various crimes. And then they realized afterwards that they promised the family they would never do that. Because they gave him $20 million and signed something that said we won't ever use this in a movie.
Starting point is 01:23:41 And we forgot about that. We forgot we did that. I fucking hate all of this. I don't know why they're doing this and why are they doing it and then putting that in and then not thinking of the consequences of that even? I don't know, man. Surely you would have looked into the legality of any of that. How about this, James?
Starting point is 01:23:58 Let me picture this idea. Yeah. Michael Jackson, except he's played by a CGI monkey, but his monkey bubbles is played by a CGI Michael Jackson. Mason. Yes. That's the best idea. Not just you, but anybody has ever had. Thank you. And I just came up with that at the top of the dime right there. Look forward to more of those in 2025. One more. I'm going to do one more in mid year. I hope so. Yeah-year. I hope so. Look, not to get into like the specifics of him and his activities. But you think he did a bunch of crap. I don't know, obviously, but it kind of seems like he did.
Starting point is 01:24:32 And even if he didn't, it's still really fucked up. Yeah, it's not like this is going to get an M. It's not okay. This isn't going to have an uplifting finale. No. Yuck. Then we've got Tron Aries. I'm looking forward to that, except for... Jailblade A characters. Other than that, yeah. Let's do more Tron.
Starting point is 01:24:47 We've got the Black Phone 2 as mentioned. And then Mortal Kombat 2. Even bigger, blacker phone. Even bigger, blacker phone. I can't even lift this phone. I wish I could get out of this basement, but the phone's too big to lift up. The clues are in the phone. They're in the phone. Like in the last movie. No, that's not what happened. There were ghosts and clues in the phone. Did you see that last one? No, I didn't see that. Good movies, you should watch it. It's on television. Okay, it's playing right now
Starting point is 01:25:08 Yep, channel 9 Keith and hawk. Me too. Uh, I don't know where they're gonna go with the sequel I guess we'll see then Mortal Kombat 2 remember there was a Mortal Kombat reboot. Yes where they didn't do a Mortal Kombat Yeah, they never even got to Mortal Kombat I hope they do at least two Mortal Kombat's in this one to make up for the fact there was no Mortal Kombat in the Last one in the last one. They weren't allowed to do a Mortal Kombat. I hope they do at least two Mortal Combats in this one to make up for the fact there was no Mortal Kombat in the last one. Yeah. In the last one they weren't allowed to do a Mortal Kombat. Yeah. Due to the rules of the Shadow Realm or whatever. Dan Lewis Tan was in it. He was a big gold armadillo. Do you remember that? Yes. Lewis Tan the golden armadillo. Is that his name? Lewis Tan. Yeah. Is he Australian? He was in... It was an Australian movie. I know that. He was in Den of Thieves for a minute, I think. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:43 Yeah, yeah, he played Cole Young. Nice. He's British. I'm Cole Young. I'm Cole Young. And he's Shatterstar, of course. John McHale's in it. Is he Johnny Storm?
Starting point is 01:25:54 That would make sense, I guess. Johnny Cage? Yeah. Oh no, Carl Urban's Johnny Storm. He is in Den of Thieves. I knew it. He's the Secret Service Lobby Guard number one. Whoa.
Starting point is 01:26:03 He's a stunt person, isn't he? Hiroyuki Sonata is in it as well, who plays Scorpion or Sub-Zero. I can't remember which one. Okay, that's terrific. Oh, Joel tells them he's Noob Saibot. Who was Sub-Zero initially? Correct, yes. God, I love movies.
Starting point is 01:26:20 I love movies too. I can't believe that's getting a sequel. Did that do well, the first one? I think so. But again, I mean, again, we don't believe that's getting a sequel. Did that do well, the first one at Mustang? I think so. But again, I mean, again, we don't know about the machinations of Hollywood. Maybe there's a big movie executive who loved Mortal Kombat. Maybe there is.
Starting point is 01:26:35 And he's like, we're going to keep making these no matter what. Let's do it. Then we've got Marvel's What If. No, Marvel's Zombies. Okay, fine. November, you mentioned this Predator Badlands. Alright. When's that set again?
Starting point is 01:26:46 Badlands. It's a pre-, it's a sequel to Prey, but it's not a direct sequel. Interesting. Do you think the Predators will be in it though? I'll bet I say almost, probably. That's too long away for a Predator movie. Especially if it's good, like the last one. It was a good one.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Then we've got the Running Man reboot. Glenn Powell. Glenn Powell. Edgar Wright is in that? Edgar Wright is in it. I mean he's directing. He might be in it. He's not an Edgar right? He's doing it. He might be in it It's not an actor. Most of your might be in the pub. I'll be in the pub. Yeah Anyone want a pint? Yeah, we do a classic. Yeah, which again, I think is gonna he closer to the the short story version
Starting point is 01:27:15 Yeah, it's gonna be more mundane good unless it unless it doesn't test well in which case they're gonna put the giant costume guys in It didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't didn't it didn't that's not about no They're doing more combats in it. That's Mortal Kombat. No, they're doing Mortal Kombat, Senate though, on each other. Have you seen it? Yes. Good. Then we've got the running man. You said that? No, this is another reboot of the Running Man. Okay, great. We're going again. Right, okay. They're doing all the things, they're adding the things that you said. Wow, okay. Just in case, they quote, just in case you didn't like it. Levy's directing this one because we know you like him We like you like you we think you like Deadpool Wolverine you bought a lot of tickets So we think you like him as a director so we're getting him to direct it good
Starting point is 01:27:54 Yep, then we've got now you three me uh-huh great then we got wicked for good Then we got zoo to turn crazy that Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson have worked together on so many movies What are they mates? Maybe what I'm easy to zombie land movies three of these it's crazy. Oh, yeah Hmm, and then Zoo to Topia Zoo to Topia. All right, December. We've got FNAF 2. Okay. Yep Avatar fire and ash. Whoa Anaconda and which is when a couple of dudes make a remake of Anaconda. Maybe or something. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:27 And then we've got Marty Supreme. Which is the Timothée Chalamet old-timey. Pool guy. Pool hall guy. Is he or is he a sports reporter or something? We looked it up last year. I can't wait to find out. December 2025.
Starting point is 01:28:41 He's wearing an old-timey suit, he's got a mustache, he's running for a car. I can't believe this. I'm going to be late to be Marty Supreme. He's saying, all right. December 2025. He's wearing an old timey suit, he's got a mustache, he's running for a car. I can't believe this, I'm gonna be late to be Marty Supreme, he's saying, you know? If I miss this old timey car, which to me is a modern car. It's normal. Yeah, I'm gonna stand on the running board and be like, follow that other car,
Starting point is 01:28:56 that other old timey car. Yeah, man. Well, I would call it a normal car. I call it that too. We're gonna be best friends, Marty Supreme. Well, we won't be if I'm late. That's right. And so on.
Starting point is 01:29:08 Yeah and so on and so forth. He might be an Oscar winner by then. I think so. Even Chalamet. And then Wonder Man's coming out. Oh yeah. The series. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:17 Alright let's do that. I hope he doesn't have any superpowers in it. Okay. I hope he's just a normal guy running around in the MCU and he's like what is going on? I hope he is too. This is crazy. Agreed. In terms of shows that don't have release dates yet, we've got Black Mirror Season 7,
Starting point is 01:29:29 The Witcher, but without that guy, without him in the cover. One Piece Season 2, The Sandman, oh no. Star Trek Strange New Worlds. We didn't mention that, but it's... We'll mention it in letters. It Welcome to Derry, The Bear season three or four. Squid Game season three, Beast Games, Doc... That's still going.
Starting point is 01:29:49 Wow. It's good, isn't it? I don't know. It's not. No. Doctor Who, Limitless with Chris Hemsworth. All right. I'm trying to live forever.
Starting point is 01:29:57 I'm Chris Hemsworth. Poker Face season two. Nice. Peacemaker season two. Oh. Let's freaking go, bro. You thought you mentioned everything that's come out gonna come out this year You missed one. No, I didn't they follow so cool. It follows. Yeah, that's this year apparently
Starting point is 01:30:11 anything else Don't you think I get credit for naming literally everything else? Yeah, I think you do one Or you missed one thing. Yeah, fuck you There's a movie called opus that's coming out. Mr. Holland's Opus? Yes, exactly. It's a sequel to Mr. Holland's Opus where I owe a debris goes to an island and John Malkovich is a pop star.
Starting point is 01:30:32 Oh, I saw the trailer for this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It looks fun. It's about Moby. Looks like the menu. Does. Yeah. The pop stars.
Starting point is 01:30:40 That's right. Great. Most anticipated Superman, obviously, but what else? Superman's looking pretty good. Mickey 17. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.. I'll be honest I've forgotten everything you've said. Am I ready for more black mirror? Is that coming out this year? New season? Yeah I mentioned it. I hope there's new red mirrors. Yo no they're not doing that. I like the last one. Me too. Yeah. Tron Ares. Is that Wacky Demon guy? Yeah I remember. Tron Ares. Okay I'm looking for
Starting point is 01:31:00 Tron Ares but obviously not as much as Superman or Thunderbolts. Last of a season two could be good or Mission Impossible. Yeah. Thunderbolts, yep. James, I think it's safe to say movies are back. Movies are back and they could be good. I'm saying Superman, I know it's a curse, yeah, but I'm saying it and that's all I'm gonna say about it and I won't say another goddamn word. Even when the movie comes out we have to review it? That's correct. Wow. I'm gonna have to shoulder the whole episode, am I? Yes, that's right. Well, I take a moment of silence. Okay, great. All right, should we move it along? Let's move it along. But what are we going to do? Let's do what we read. Okay, what else? What we're going to read. Perfect. And bloody brace yourself because
Starting point is 01:31:33 it's going to be a long one. It already is. It's so long this episode. It's going to be even longer. Oh, it's so long. I want to get ice cream. Let's get ice cream after this. Okay, all right. Let's get ice cream. You're going to get ice cream? Yes. With my kids? Yes. Oh, all right. I thought it was going to be bro ice cream. No, it's's get ice cream. You're gonna get ice cream? Yes! With my kids? Yes! Alright. Thought it was gonna be bro ice cream. No, it's not bro's cream. It's a shame.
Starting point is 01:31:49 I'm doing the thing. Long list? So, such a long list, James. Let's go. It's crazy how long this list is. Let's not go too long. Okay, alright. Okay, well first of all, here's a movie we both watched as we saw it in the cinema.
Starting point is 01:32:07 It's a real pain. Oh, Two Cousins Road Trip. Two Cousins Road Trip. So this is, and look, there was some, there was some, there was some, you took some convincing to watch this movie. No I didn't. You were like, I'll have to be off my phone. I did not say that.
Starting point is 01:32:21 So this is written and directed by Jesse Eisenberg, co-starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin. And it's a very sort of small movie about two cousins who go to Poland because they have a family connection there. And they're sort of various, you know, their little adventure. Yeah. I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed it a lot too. I wouldn't say don't expect a raucous comedy.
Starting point is 01:32:41 No. But it is funny. That's funny. Yeah, exactly. It's just a nice watch. Don't expect any kinducous comedy. No, but it is funny. That's funny. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's just a nice watch Don't expect any kind of American pie. No don't expect anybody to be like I've I've super glued myself wanker exactly. Oh, oh we got all you know, I've got a Case of semen of horse semen that I've I have to drink it all Don't expect that
Starting point is 01:33:06 Don't expect that. Don't expect that. You know, they do. Is that what you're expecting? If you expect that they've accidentally switched briefcases on the train. Is that why you didn't want to be on your phone? Is that why you didn't want to be on the phone? Because you didn't want to miss that? I didn't want to miss that.
Starting point is 01:33:18 I didn't want to miss the sequence where they accidentally switched briefcases with a horse seaman salesman on the train, you know, yeah, you know, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. What's this? Somebody's family album of precious memories, but I'm supposed to sell this horse semen. This conference. Where's my briefcase of horse semen? Yep. Yeah. Oh,. What are we doing? I don't know. It's a bad year. Oh that's far too bad for movies.
Starting point is 01:33:52 Anyway it's a small little delightful character study. I thought it was good. I thought they work well together. The supporting cast is nice. I don't recognise any of them from other things. Yeah I recognise a few of them. Good stuff. Low budget. stuff low budget. Yeah Yeah, real low key. Worth a watch. I mean obviously you can wait for streaming I'm sure it'll be on streaming now if it isn't already in the US
Starting point is 01:34:11 But you know if you see if you want to find out it's 90 minutes. Cost 3 million. It's made 14.4 So some stuff I watched over the Christmas period James. Yep. Watch the movie The Holdovers good Christmas time movie delightful Haven't seen it. Paul Giamatti and that other guy. Bruce McEvaney. Bruce McEvaney is in it, obviously. Divine Joy Randolph, they're in it. It's good combo, delightful. I watched Late Night with the Devil.
Starting point is 01:34:34 Oh yeah, I've seen that. I've seen that. Pretty good, you know, got some faults. But it's low budget. This guy doesn't like the devil. I don't like when mentalists are like, I can hypnotize you through a TV screen. It doesn't work. Yeah, don't do it.
Starting point is 01:34:49 Because otherwise you could do anything. You could do anything. If hypnotism worked like that, you could rob a 7-Eleven with it and people would. I would too. I also watched the movie Red Rooms, which is a French Canadian thriller about a woman who sort of becomes obsessed with a serial killer who's on trial. Oh.
Starting point is 01:35:10 So it's a good movie. Is it in French? It's mostly in French, yes. Some of it is in English. Fuck. Yeah. Why can't I just pick a fucking lane? It's subtitled.
Starting point is 01:35:20 The French part is in subtitled. Is the English part subtitled? No. Fuck. Because you'll like read all of it or read none of it. I want to read all of it! You're not going to read some of it. I haven't heard of this. Okay I'm gonna watch this. Some people were like this is this is so subtly sinister and it's really really confronting and what have you and I'm
Starting point is 01:35:36 like it's pretty confronting you know. I don't feel anything. What else Mason? I watched Love Lies Bleeding which is the it's got Caddy O'Brien and it's got it's Twilight. Yes. Good movie. Done other things also. Yes. Yeah. Many things. I mean Charlie's Angels remake obviously. Yeah exactly. So on and so forth. I watched The Witch which is the one Robert Edgars movie I haven't seen. I still haven't seen that. I've seen them all. In a spooky time. Not to brag. It's my least favorite of his. Whoa! Sorry everyone. Sorry everybody. Fuck him right? It's good though. And he's doing a Wolfman movie. He's doing a favorite of his. Whoa! Sorry everyone. Sorry everybody. Fuck him, right? It's good though.
Starting point is 01:36:06 And he's doing a Wolfman movie. He's doing a Wolfman movie. And then something after that. And he might be doing Labyrinth. Alright, sequel. Labyrinth remake. I don't know if that's true. I don't think.
Starting point is 01:36:14 That feels like something like in negotiations, why wouldn't you take the meeting kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I mean, Nosferatu is doing very well at the box office, which is good. I'm going to watch that this week. I watched Nosferatu. There you go. It's good. It's a good movie. I thought it was delightful and excellent. It's got shades of like all the previous horny dragons
Starting point is 01:36:29 It's not as horny as Bram Stoker's. Nothing is. Francis Ford Coppola's horny Dracula Is it as horny as Megalopolis? It's horny than that. What? That had a crossbow boner in it. Yeah, that's true, didn't it? Yeah It's you know what it what it does have in common with Bram Stoker's Francis Ford Coppola's Horny Dracula is there's some really interesting in-camera practical effects. Without spoiling much of it. There's, you know, it's, it's, it is, you know, Nosferatu of course is the, the, was a, was a 1920s remake of unauthorized remake of the original Dracula.
Starting point is 01:37:02 And so of course, you know, it was a movie that was nearly you know just lost me it was nearly destroyed and it's had a couple of remakes since this is the most recent one yes so it is kind it is the story of Dracula but just a little bit more streamlined yeah but there's there's one sequence where Nicholas Holt's character he's approaching the Nosferatu count Orlok's castle in a in a carriage and he's there's a moment he's in the carriage and he's kind of a little bit discombobulated. And then he just sort of turns and he's at the,
Starting point is 01:37:30 he's already at the castle. And they did that. I'm like, I think they used like a pull apart carriage. And then I looked it up later and they did. They did. They put him in like, and then they just got stagehands to pull apart. That's awesome.
Starting point is 01:37:42 Yeah, so I'm like, you know, that's, I'm enjoying Robert Eggers work generally. I think he does great work, you know. Now, because you, when seeing Nosferatu, did you see Nosferatu 1? Yes. And do I need to see that? Yeah, you do. Okay, cool. I mean, good luck finding it.
Starting point is 01:37:58 Because you've just made it up and I just agreed with that premise. I'm already watching it in my mind. Okay, that's great. It sucks. That's a shame. I have no creativity. I realised. That's a shame really. Yeah. Also they used up all the... I'm just watching the reboot of the A-Team. Even that one with Liam Neeson. But I think that's why we talked about him in Naked Gun. Yeah yeah yeah. You're just imagining those shipping antennas moving back and forth like a shell game. That's Nosferatuan
Starting point is 01:38:21 to me? Yeah that's what it is to you. Yeah. Yeah. They also apparently used up all the blood or whatever. They used up all the snow. They used up all the potato flakes in Europe. Yes. Because prior to the production of this movie, how you did old school, you would do you would do snow, fake snow on camera with potato flakes, but then they invented a device. I think it's called a snow candle. And it's a particular type of like firework and you light it up and then it produces kind of ash, but they made them illegal. So he had to, so, and he was like, I don't want to do CGI snow. So they had to buy all the potato flakes. They had to do it old school. So that's fun.
Starting point is 01:38:56 So if you're going into a fish and chip shop for some potato cakes flakes, you can't. What else Mason? What else I watched James? I tell you what I watched. I watched anything's real pain. I rewatched the movie The Art of Self-Defense, which is the movie. Yeah. And I in addition to that, I watched. Yeah, it's funny and weird. It's got Alessandro Nivola, the Rhino. Oh, in it. Okay. Yeah. You know, for things obviously. Yeah, yeah. He's in The Brutalist. No, he's not. All right. He's not. And in addition to that, so that's that's was directed by Riley Stearns, who also did Duel, the movie mentioned earlier about Karen Gillan has to fight herself. Yes, I saw Duel. He made a movie about 10 years ago called Faults and it's got Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Starting point is 01:39:34 in it. So I watched that as well. It's about Mary Elizabeth Winstead and she's in a cult. Faults and a cult. Faults and a cult. Is it good? It's good. I liked it.
Starting point is 01:39:44 It's also got another guy. He's got a famous that guy in it. Faults. Oh, John Turturro maybe? Nope. Oh, that guy. Yeah, no, I know who he is. I know who he's talking about. Give him his props because he's the guy Leland Orsi. You know when you say it. Yeah, I know who he is. He's in Alien 4 and also Seven Covered Ryan.
Starting point is 01:39:56 Yeah. Anyway, that's all I done watched. Well, I watched Squid Game Season 2. Liked it. I watched Two Cousins Road Trip. Liked it. I watched Skeleton Crew. I liked it. I saw Creation of the Commandos. I liked it. I've been watching Severance. I liked it. I watched two cousins cousins road trip liked it. I watched skeleton crew. I liked it So creation with commandos. I liked it. I've been watching severance. I like it. I've restarted. I was watching silo
Starting point is 01:40:10 I already think you don't like it seems like you don't have really much of a bar of quality I mean you didn't like Nosferatu on no, that's your fault if anything. Yeah, exactly Doctor who Christmas special I liked it Yeah, what happens that one? He does a Christmas adventure. It's actually a really good episode. It's quite heartfelt. Yes, a lot of it is spent him. He does a year in real time in it and a lot of it's on that. How's the outfits? He looks great. I appreciate that this doctor wears a different outfit in every episode. He's cool. He's cool. He's cool outfits. Yeah. Carry on. Die Hard, but in an airport. Die Hard 2. I liked it. With Tarot Edgerton. Yeah. The Apprentice. Airport. I liked it. Yeah. The Apprentice. Horrible, obviously, but I liked it. And then I watched with my son, the death of Superman slash reign of the Superman. I liked it. I
Starting point is 01:40:58 made an effort to only watch things that I thought I would like. I'm not watching garbage. I'm going to watch things that I like. I had a pretty good time. Nice. Yeah. I realized that I like watching things. That's great. Yeah. I think I lost sight of that. Watching things? No, I didn't. Okay, great. Things are good. It's mostly good. And if there's no new good things, there's a million things I haven't watched yet. Million things. I got a lot of stuff on my list still to watch. You gotta finish watching Nosferatuan. I didn't watch... Stuff I would have liked to watch, didn't have time. Anora didn't watch that.
Starting point is 01:41:29 Me neither. Complete Unknown didn't watch that. Haven't watched A Different Man, or Wolfman, or Better Man. Yep. None of the Man movies. What about Dogman? I didn't watch Dogman. I didn't see Conclave, The Brutalist, or We Live in Time, but I'm going to get to that.
Starting point is 01:41:40 Oh, I want to see all of those. Me too. Not all of them. All right, should we move it along? Let's move it along. Okay, before we get into the those. Me too. Not all of them. No. All right, should we move it along? Let's move it along. Okay, before we get into the letters, Mason, which I know you love.
Starting point is 01:41:49 I do love, it's my favorite segment. We've got another segment that I think is gonna become your new favorite segment. Oh, I already know it's gonna be my favorite segment. We're gonna cover it every week. It's called Claire and I are getting a divorce, not a joke, we're actually separated, and have been for a while.
Starting point is 01:42:03 That's correct. Yeah, so it's at the point where... Weekly Planet Exclusive! No one else has this. No, well nobody... No, I don't think they would actually. Yeah, I mean some people do. I mean a lot of people know in my real life,
Starting point is 01:42:15 like obviously our friends and family have known for quite a while. And a lot of people with podcasts and they haven't scooped us. Oh yeah, that's true. There's a bunch of people that do know. Rodan could have scooped us on the Footie podcast. The SansPansBoys could have scooped us at any moment. God. They've got do know. Rodan could have scooped us on the footy podcast. The Sans Pans boys could have scooped us. At any moment. God. They've got so many podcasts where they could have scooped this.
Starting point is 01:42:30 Exactly. But it's just come to the... Look, it's not something that I want to have to tell people. But we have a relatively public persona. Correct. And we have kids together and it's just something that we feel like has to be brought up. You and Clay, not you and me. We don't have any kids. Not yet. So the thing is, like, as mentioned, it's been a while and we've been waiting till things have like settled down. Am I allowed to do the stained bit? Yeah, you can do it all.
Starting point is 01:42:55 It's been a while. You do the levity and I'll do the other part. Yeah. So we're kind of waiting till things settle down and our lives have like, you know, returned to normality and look, and honestly, like we're both pretty good. You seem both pretty good. Yeah. So independent observer, even though only on one of your podcasts.
Starting point is 01:43:12 Yeah. I'm not on one of our sides. Yeah. That's class. That's right. Yeah. But, uh, no, it's like, we still see each other most days. Like the kids are obviously a priority for us.
Starting point is 01:43:23 Yeah. Sometimes you are there. You've been, you know, you've been both of Sometimes I'm there. Yeah, sometimes you are there. You've been, you know, you've been to both of our places and you know, bouncing back and forth. She's got a pool, jealous? Yeah, I am actually. No, I don't want a pool, but I can use the pool
Starting point is 01:43:32 and that's important. I don't have to operate the pool, but I can use the pool. Yeah. So that's the main thing. You call up Claire and you're like, you know how we're co-parenting and we're doing everything for the kids. I'm in your pool.
Starting point is 01:43:41 Yeah, that's right. Look out your window, there I am. So we're still running the business together as well and will for like the foreseeable future that would probably change at some point. But the podcast and the YouTube like my stuff specifically or our stuff I guess me and you Mason we're not like I love doing this and we're going to keep doing it. I think it's all right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Well I love it. So like I wouldn't be surprised if she popped up here again like it's not it it's all right. Yeah. Well, I love it. So like, I wouldn't be surprised if she popped up here again. Like it's not, it's very amicable. Mason's shaking his head. He's saying no. I haven't moved my head this entire time. I've never moved my head. I've got a bad neck. It's unrelated. That's my big news. I've got a bad neck sometimes. Yeah. Now look, I also understand that when these things go out into community, there might be like, people start speculating or I don't know, I was going to say rumors, but there would be no rumors because there's nothing like,
Starting point is 01:44:30 there's nothing to rumor about, I guess. Like as mentioned, we have like a close circle of friends and family who have known for a very long time. It's not really a complicated situation. It's more just of a, we're just different people and kind of different paths, I guess. That's so true. The end of like our journey together in that particular way, though we are tethered together through business and family.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Money. And money, yeah. Not so much money. Not so much money, but like all the money you have is tied together. Yeah, and I guess if I could ask the community this, and I think most people would totally understand. Shut your traps.
Starting point is 01:45:04 Well that, no, you can talk about it, I don traps well that no you don't you can talk about it I don't mind but just don't be fucking weird about it Like you don't know us like we don't know you and I don't I'm not trying to be harsh But you know There's a lot of people that listen and if five people are weird about it or send me or Claire weird messages It's weird. So just please don't do that correct and please don't take a side I'm not looking to make an enemy of Claire or Mason whose fault this is. That's right I mean sure somebody's gonna put together a compilation of the literally hundreds of jokes
Starting point is 01:45:37 I've made over the years of you two getting divorced. Please don't do that Or if you do keep it to yourself. Yeah, that's right. Keep it. Keep it a little thing for yourself. Keep it for you. The other thing is like Claire's, by the time you hear this, she probably would have put something out on Instagram. I'm not going to do that because I don't
Starting point is 01:45:52 really use Instagram for that. But I am probably going to, and she looks like it's going to do the same, is like private some of the posts that we've had together or remove them. That's not because there's any animosity. It's just for the it just for the weird comments. And I just mean people being like,
Starting point is 01:46:08 oh, I remember this or like, don't, just please don't. I'm gonna write that under your wedding photos though. And that's fine. Like after I leave here, I'm gonna get up, get out of the shop, people are like, I remember this, I was here. So yeah, like honestly, it's like, yeah, it's not an ideal situation, but we're making the best of it.
Starting point is 01:46:28 You know, and again, we're both, I think, handling it as well as we could, you know, therapy, like together and separate, you know, where we're going, like the process of the separation is like, it's still ongoing, but we're doing it in a way like we're not fighting, we know what we want to do. And we're just basically putting the steps in place to make that official. Yeah, I would say the kids are taking it well, I think. I mean, you did show your son Captain America Civil War out of order. Like you showed him that as his first MCU movie. Yeah. Which I think is going to be proved
Starting point is 01:46:58 to be traumatic down the line. But that was a long time after he knew. I don't think those things are set. And then I showed him Kramer versus Kramer. I don't know whether, yeah. And then I showed him Kramer versus Kramer. I don't know whether, yeah. And then you showed him Kramer's standup set from the Chuckle Heart or whatever it was called that time. Shouldn't have showed him that at all.
Starting point is 01:47:11 No, that one was a mistake, I admit. So yeah, look, again, I just want to reiterate. I don't mind people talking about it. I would prefer like not to see like multiple posts about this. So like, I understand that, but I don't want this to be like an ongoing kind of thing. And like, it's gonna come up. Like it'll come up on this show, I'd imagine, you know, I'm going to bring some big divorced dad energy, obviously, to this podcast. So, uh,
Starting point is 01:47:32 2025 divorced dad energy. But, um, yeah, as mentioned, like, I understand most people understand this. I know a lot of people who listen to this are probably in a similar situation, but I just need to reiterate, just don't be fucking weird. Please, like just be be normal, but not normal man normal the way that we talk about normal man. I'm allowed to be weird. Yeah, exactly. He's in exactly. I think sometimes people do cross that line, like the way that we speak to each other is I want to get into it. But no, thank you everybody for, I guess, getting ahead of this, like for showing that respect and being kind. And I would love you to still support all the work that Claire is doing. She's got a documentary coming out. She's working on new music. She's got these amazing groups that she's putting together and different like festivals and all of that. If that's something you're
Starting point is 01:48:17 interested in, yeah, especially if you're a woman or identify as such, that is, you know, absolutely. But please just like, you know, you know? Yeah is you know absolutely but please just like you know yeah you know yeah you know you know what you know yeah what's up now you know what's up yeah be cool be cool this is gonna make a great youtube clip don't you think so too oh my god i mean what we should do i think ultimately is we should have filmed this and then we could have done another video where you and i react oh my god like it's it's a trailer. Oh my god, what's he gonna say? He said it. I always want to thank also the community,
Starting point is 01:48:51 but also the whole team, like who gets this operation running, who have been run this operation, have been very understanding. And you as well, Mason, have been incredibly supportive, among others who I will not name. That's right. Because they don't listen to this and fuck them. And they bring shame to this family. That's right. Alright let's keep
Starting point is 01:49:07 going. Time for fun stuff. That wasn't fun? It's fun for me. Okay. Because I got to do my little jokes. If you do want to reach the show you could go on Twitter but we're not there They're only a day away. We know they're here right now. We're going to do that as... If you do want to reach the show, you could go on Twitter, but we're not there really. No. Run by Nazis. I was going to say, here's an email actually, first from John. Oh, just quickly. Weeklyplanetpod at gmail.com.
Starting point is 01:49:37 That's correct. Or the Planet Broadcasting Great Mates group. There's a thread every week. Yeah. John says, hi guys, amazing podcast. Wanted to write a nice email about how the podcast has helped me in life, but also really want Elon Musk to have spent 44 billion on a useless ghost town. Any chance you guys believe X?
Starting point is 01:49:50 I've never heard of X, it's Twitter. And the fact that everybody still calls it Twitter. So great branding over there. We're just going to not post there mostly. Yeah. I think I'll probably put videos out on there. But I'll just be like, here's a video, but I'll not be on there. I don't look at it.
Starting point is 01:50:04 And I didn't even make an effort to be like, I don't want to look at this. It's just junk. I mean, it's all junk. That's the most junk. Yeah. And the everything's getting just stricter over there. I mentioned this to you prior to the podcast, but I saw an ad today that said if you or a loved one passed away after receiving the COVID vaccine, please contact our office.
Starting point is 01:50:23 We're going to contact the ghosts. Yeah, the ghost office. Because they'll zap you. They'll zap you with their proton packs. They'll put you in the trap. Yeah. And then they put the trap in the big box. But it's all right.
Starting point is 01:50:36 You just got to wait for every Ghostbusters movie to get out. Which is what those movies are about. Every few years, the big trap will break open, won't it? Exactly. Anyway, to answer that question Yeah, we'll just you know, it'll just it's just gonna die. Yeah, it's right. It's happened before remember my space. Yeah Oh, I don't either Yes, yeah, I just it's just I mean I we should technically quit all of those platforms sure absolutely that's the worst one Yeah, but um, just isn't everything bad We should technically quit all of those platforms as well. Sure, absolutely. That's the worst one. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:51:05 But just isn't everything bad? Yeah. What do you think? Yeah. Except movies and our podcast. That's true. And select other podcasts that we enjoy. That's right.
Starting point is 01:51:17 Unless they turn out crook, in which case we never liked them. We never liked them at all. This is from Matt Taylor who says, don't know if either of you saw the Robbie Williams CGI 8 movie and what you thought of it. I didn't think that we'd talk about this already, but no, we didn't see it. That's right. But I would like to see it. Yep.
Starting point is 01:51:32 Yes, and I will at some point. Got another letter because I've got one. Here's an email from Mike. Hey, my name is Mike. Mike? Good so far. Big fan of the podcast and the YouTube channel. Really all I want to say is thank you, but he's got a little bit more that I thought
Starting point is 01:51:45 was interesting. Go on. When I was in the sixth or seventh grade, I would come home from church every Sunday and the first thing I do is put on my Xbox, open YouTube and watch whatever video you put up. And it became a part of my routine through high school. No matter what struggle I was going through, I knew that when I watch you guys stuff or listen to the podcast, it kind of disappeared.
Starting point is 01:52:00 I'm now 23 years old and I'm a professional wrestler based in New York. Yes. But I listen to the pod more now. What's his wrestling persona? Maybe I'll find it. He doesn't say his name. His name's Mike Dutello. So maybe give that a good D-A-T-E-L-L-O. Mike Dutello, wrestler.
Starting point is 01:52:16 That's right. Hell yeah. Often before matches I listen to the show to ease my nerves even if I finish the show already that week. Thanks for being that constant. I'm sure you're aware of the good you do for people just wanted to share my story and how much you guys impacted it Thank you again. You guys rock from Mike. We're vaguely aware. God. This guy's ripped as hell. He ripped us out You can't look at him though. I'm looking at it. You sure isn't that it's not a different Mike Dutello He's a wrestler. Thank guys. Okay, right. He's holding a belt. Yeah, you say you won. Wow. It's good stuff
Starting point is 01:52:41 Mason You think he's the only listener who's won a belt? I won a belt. No you didn't. In a belt winning competition. Oh yeah, because you won the most belts. I won the most belts. They gave you a belt as a prize.
Starting point is 01:52:52 Look at him, he's slipping off the top of the thing. Damn, alright. That's round as hell. That is round as hell. He's gonna kill that man with his elbows. I don't think he should do that actually. Oh god, look, he's gonna kill him. I think.
Starting point is 01:53:02 Nah, he's killing this man. I think it... Oh he did! Oh no, the man got up. That. I think. No, he's killing this man. I think it does. Oh he did. Oh no, the man got up. That guy's huge. Yeah, yeah. Sick. All right, I got a letter here and by letter I mean Facebook thing.
Starting point is 01:53:11 Okay. Levi says, how you have you signed up for Legal Eagles class action lawsuit against Honey? No doubt your boys have had commission via affiliate links snatched from you. We never endorsed Honey. No, but apparently. Oh, but they do. Apparently it could like take you any of your like it just
Starting point is 01:53:27 found affiliate links. Yeah. So even if you didn't even if you weren't subscribed, like even if we didn't do an endorsement for Honey. Yeah. It could have just found other places we advertise and just sort of snuck in there. So apparently for people who don't know there was a service
Starting point is 01:53:41 called Honey and I think it did a find discount. Yeah, that was the idea. And a lot of youtubers and podcasters were sponsored by this company and but what it did was it essentially snuck in between you and the affiliate link yeah you know you go go to go to this website slash weekly planet and put in code weekly planet and you get a discount and how that works is you get a discount and the weekly planet would get a kickback but what it would do is it would sneak in the middle there and it would strip out that attribution. So even if you put in weekly, went to weekly planet, put in code weekly planet, it would
Starting point is 01:54:11 get itself a commission. Yeah. Apparently. Oh, then that's almost certainly happened to us. I did watch the Legal Eagle video. So did I. I'm too busy. I can't with this.
Starting point is 01:54:20 Also we'd get 14.75. Yeah, I don't care. They're already, it's already falling apart. That's exactly right. No one's going to don't care. It's already falling apart. No one's gonna go to jail. What's the point? What's the point, Mason? Here's an email from Ryan.
Starting point is 01:54:32 Ryan? Hey chaps, lately I've been re-listening to a random selection. Appreciate your concern though. Yeah, that's right. If you want to just send us money. Yeah, that's fine. If you have any money. But not via Honey, send it directly to us.
Starting point is 01:54:41 To us, into our bank accounts. We'll put it in the episode description, our actual bank accounts. Correct. Hey chaps, lately I've been re-list it in the episode description, our actual bank accounts. Correct. Hey chaps, lately I've been really listening to a random selection of some of your earliest ever episodes. It's funny to hear what predictions you got right, but also the many things you used to believe the studios would have to do in order to translate characters to the big screen. Like they'd have to blonde up Jason Momoa for Aquaman.
Starting point is 01:54:58 It's true. I think they're going to do very blonde, very white Aquaman. And they did blonde him up a little bit. They did, it's true. You had some highlights. Podcasts helped me get through some very dark times, it brought me a lot of joy and last, just wondering if you feel you've changed your outlook on these sort of things, would you consider yourselves a lot more cynical now?
Starting point is 01:55:12 Is there an example of something you wish the studios had done to stay more true to the comics, but they didn't? I think it goes in waves. I try to not be as cynical. I think there's probably a period where I'm super cynical, but I'm like... I think I'm becoming more optimistic about some upcoming things. I think Marvel's made some changes and I want to see what that looks like. The DC I'm very excited for. I think there is a lot of like independent film, which is really good at the moment. Yeah. Horror
Starting point is 01:55:35 in particular. Oh yeah. Absolutely. So no, I feel TV's great. TV is good. TV's the new movies. I agree. Wow. I don't like how there's a new season of something every four years or whatever, and they do seven episodes. Oh yeah, that's true. I don't like that. No. But no, I like watching and talking about stuff. So I mean, even if I can't imagine doing this if I was like thoroughly cynical of all of it. It would be awful.
Starting point is 01:55:59 I think you mentioned the Marvel thing. I think that's probably true. Like the probably the deepest pit of cynicism was the point where they had achieved a lot of success and they were making, you know, big time movies, but you could feel them go, well, now we've crystallized that form. Yeah, we don't have to change. We can just do the same thing. No, you can't.
Starting point is 01:56:18 That's right. They can't and they learned. Don't do too many. Don't do too many. Yeah. So yeah, no, I again, I love doing this. And what an opportunity. Is there an example of something you wish the studios had done to stay more true to
Starting point is 01:56:30 the comics, but they didn't? Yeah, I mean, I think, I mean, hopefully we get it this year, but Superman. Well, Superman, yeah, that's, that is a great example. A nice guy. Yeah. And I think, you know, the, and they've worked with Superman and Lois, I think, which is to say they have modernized the character. The thing that I never really liked about, you know, I think Christopher Reeve was an
Starting point is 01:56:49 incredible Superman and an incredible Clark Kent, but I think that why some aspects of those movies never worked for me and also Superman Returns, it's because they pitched him as the version of Superman that didn't even really exist in the comics. Yeah. You know, they changed the power set and the... Yeah, the self-iveness. Yeah, and the old Superman movies were made by people who remembered Superman from the 50s and 60s. I mean, it even opens like that, that original movie. Whereas I think Superman and Lois certainly has gone, well, no, he's a man who exists in a modern world
Starting point is 01:57:25 and he's got modern sensibilities and he's not completely invulnerable. And there's old fashioned like elements to him. He's just what is that? I can't remember the exact quote, but it's something like Superman isn't like, what if a man got was super powerful, but like what if a super powerful man was good? Yeah, I like that perspective. And I think Grant Morrison said- Because there isn't one.
Starting point is 01:57:45 Yeah, that's right. I think Grant Morrison said, you know, he's a man with problems, they're just super problems. He has to, you know, walk the dog, but he has to walk the dog around the solar system. Exactly. And I think Grant Morrison also said this, but just this idea that like, Superman will show up.
Starting point is 01:58:01 And like, he's impossible, he cannot exist. And so you've got to kind of, a lot of times, and of times and especially movies you got to justify why he's the way he is and the conflict that he feels about being Superman but no he'll just show up yeah like he just has to and that's what he does that's right yeah because he's impossible so that's how you do it yeah anyway I got one from Dan Handley who said oh this is great to talk about how horrible the guy who made Sandman is. Yeah, I mean, I read that article. I read some of the article.
Starting point is 01:58:30 I had to stop. Fuck me. Just terrible. And it's, who knows, obviously seems true. Seems true. And it's not just like one person. It's multiple people over decades. Just really, and obviously-
Starting point is 01:58:44 They kind of all come up with the same pattern of behavior. It doesn't seem like they colluded to invent this. And why? And just this idea that this mask of this affable, nice, shy, kind of autistic geek kind of man who's just a monster really and has tricked people for decades. And he even like put characters in his books who were like that and went, I think it's bad, not okay actually, but in real life okay apparently.
Starting point is 01:59:16 So yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna read or buy any of his work. I know he's come out and said he, well, he did some of that, but it was all consensual. I don't believe that. And again, I don't know. I wasn't fucking there, but that's what it seems like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I imagine the legal team who put that article out probably thoroughly vetted it. No doubt. They weren't going to say anything, you know. Yeah. The fact that he hasn't gone, well, I'm engaging my lawyers to sue you office lander or whatever, I'd suggest. Really ordinary stuff. Yuck.
Starting point is 01:59:48 Don't like it. Yuck. And boo. Anyway, here's one more email to lighten the mood. This is from Jacoby. Jacoby. Hey Mason, I'm thinking about starting the rookie because of how much praise you've given on the podcast.
Starting point is 01:59:57 That's interesting. But I don't know where to begin. Is it like the office where the first season isn't as good so I should skip it? Or is there information about how Nathan Fillion became the rookie that will be important for later seasons? You're the expert so I trust your opinion on this. Okay I'm gonna watch an episode of The Rookie. Which one? The first one probably. Yes! I'm gonna have to watch season one. This copaganda piece of shit over here. Yeah that's right. See where it's on.
Starting point is 02:00:17 Unless it's difficult to get. It's on Netflix. Is it? I mean you should know. I'm the rookie and I'm violent. There's only five seasons on Netflix. Which ones? I mean you should know. I should know. I'm the rookie and I'm violent. There's only five seasons on Netflix. Which ones though? But there's six seasons on seven plus. What does it start? But there's three seasons on Apple TV for some reason. Wait, where does it start on Netflix though?
Starting point is 02:00:35 I don't know, let's find out. I'll check it too. Better not start on season three. Better not start on season three. I'm Nathan Feeley and I'm in the rookie. If I open up the Netflix app on my phone and it was just The Rookie was right there, I would scream. But it wasn't luckily, it's the movie Back in Action, that one you mentioned from earlier.
Starting point is 02:00:52 That's real. It's not on Netflix. It must be. Do I have a VPN on or something? You might have a VPN on. The Rookie, it's right there James, top result. Hell yeah. Okay, season one is there.
Starting point is 02:01:03 I do have a VPN on. Episode one, pilot. Hell yeah. Alright, season one is there. I do have it. Episode one. I do have a VPN on. Episode one. Pilot. Oh yeah. All right. That's from season three though. Oh no.
Starting point is 02:01:12 When he becomes a pilot. Oh, that's great. Yeah. Every season he's a rookie at a different thing. Wow. It didn't work out. I did too many crimes. I'm going to have to restart.
Starting point is 02:01:20 That's right. Well, that's fine. You can do as many crimes as you want and be a pilot. It's like the pretender but he's just doing crimes. It's great. Yeah. That's the show. That's the whole show folks. And the first one of the year. That's right. And the last. Goodbye everybody. We hate this. No it's fun. It is fun. And money. It's fun and money. And what else can you, you know, what else? They say if you do something you love and money, you never work a day in your life. Because of the money. Because of the money. That's what they say.
Starting point is 02:01:46 Even though you are technically working for money, like a job. Yeah. Sometimes they say, if you do a job for money, that's a job. It's a way of saying that. So there's a little proverb that I've learned. So interesting, isn't it? The way that words craft meaning. Whole worlds.
Starting point is 02:02:04 Whole worlds. You know what I mean? They say if you clock in and do a job and then you work at that job and they pay you money, that's your job, man. Yeah. And then you can have that money, most of it, but not all of it. Not all of it sometimes. There's tax, obviously. Yeah. And wage theft.
Starting point is 02:02:17 And wage theft. Yeah. You might be getting that happening to you. That's right. Yeah. Great. Yeah. Burn your office to the ground. Do it. Do it. Folks, thank you so much for listening We absolutely appreciate it. Thanks for everybody who stuck around
Starting point is 02:02:27 Thanks for everybody who's trying this out for the first time in 2025. I don't know what you thought of it Hey, Marlin, let's start. We can't possibly know that. No, that's true. Unless you tell us you have an unknowable mind You're a mystery. You've crafted a whole world of mystery. Yeah, maybe like you you've you've thought of the whole plot of Nosferatuon Maybe maybe That's all right. That's hopefully plot of Nosferatuon. Maybe. Maybe. That's alright. He went and he beat up the server guys. Yeah. He took a plane and he went there, the beekeeper style. Yeah, God. And he beat up all those server guys. And like really severely. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. If you want a t-shirt, you go to tpublic.com, search for the weekly planet or weekly planet posters. Or? Yeah. Chris over at the weekly planet posters. He's, he's been doing it for, he's been doing it for nine years. That's right. I think. That's too many. I'm pretty confident. Is that right? Might be. He's done so many posters. I like his work. Me too. They're great. Because they're jokes that we make. That's right. I think it's too many. I'm pretty confident. I'm right might be done. So many posters I like his work me too. They're jokes that we make. That's true. We half make yet half jokes. We half make I'll tell you I'll tell you how many James do I have to read out some reviews at some point? Um, oh you could do that
Starting point is 02:04:57 Yeah, absolutely Yes, now it's time James. Okay, I forgot about that if you wanted to do it in that Yeah, tell your friends. What are your friends? Tell your friends about the podcast exactly. let's do it. I forgot about that. If you want to do it in your app. Yeah, tell your friends. Whatever you got. Tell your friends about the podcast, because that's how we get in the listeners. I forgot to say that. That's okay.
Starting point is 02:05:09 That's what I normally say earlier. That's okay. I'm batting a hundred this episode. You're not. I know. This one is from superbrand4. He says, They're the funniest duo I've ever seen and they help keep me up to date on the latest movie news and such.
Starting point is 02:05:27 My only wish is that they made more focused long-formed episodes, like an hour-long episode on the MCU or a particular movie. Keep it up y'all. Don't we do that? I don't know. No, maybe we don't. I don't know what we do. One more.
Starting point is 02:05:40 This is from HW. Yeah, do-de-he-by. He says, thoughts and prizes. James has thoughts. Must be nice. and Mason deserves a prize Specifically a dog bed or something which is forced to be under the table drinks guest segments. Do you want that? No, okay No, I want that be with our weekly Planet Post has been doing it for five years at 925 So this is 10 man. I was lying on purpose. I know and 20 or big troll and that's a good one
Starting point is 02:06:03 Anyway, that's all show. Jackman's time frame. I love that. Next week, we'll probably review some movies. Yeah, we'll do a bunch. That new one and that other one. Other stuff. Stuff and things. All right. Maybe we'll just do an hour on the MCU. Maybe we'll do that. Probably will.
Starting point is 02:06:18 Maybe for an hour on the MCU. We probably will. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Thanks everyone. Grab that gemmy guys. We'll see you next week. Goodbye.
