Welcome back everybody to another episode of the Weekly Planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday and with me as always is my co-host Nick Mason. It's great to be here, Weekly Planet, crystal clear audio guaranteed every time. Wait a minute, Mason, because isn't later in- No, you wait a minute. You wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Why should I wait a minute? I mean, I've been thinking about our podcast. I'm like, our primary selling point is our crystal clear audio. It's not the content really, or the jokes. Or our crystal clear audio content really all the jokes or our accents Some of it is some of us accents of his accents, but I've been thinking about it I'm like we have a crystal clear audio and that's beautiful. Yeah, that's right. But look I've watched to it hypothetical What does that even mean? Hypothetically, it's six minutes to ten. Yeah, it's light. It is light. That's at night everybody. It is at night So hypothetically there might be a bit later in the podcast because the road
Starting point is 00:02:25 Cast it was taken out for a certain matressens festival and given to a fucking stage and it was absconded fuck Got it back. Look. Maybe I didn't check it. I should have fucking checked it Mason, but who's Digging deep in these days go so deep in the settings to fix I don't know what I was looking for you were like were like you were like now it's set to road roadcasting and I'm like, yep And then you were like now it's set to road podcasting. That's bad. I don't know what you're doing But you fixed it. I think I fixed it and specific more specifically Rob Collings is fixed That's the upcoming audio though Matt Stewart's audio is comes through crystal clear for some reason You want the audio crystal clear every time that's the guarantee
Starting point is 00:03:03 That's the Matt Stewart guarantee. And then the backup audio kicks in and then after what we're reading, it's all fixed. So apologies. But also get over it and grow up. Get over it. Grow up. Grow up. God, it's good to say grow up.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Agreed. Telling someone to grow up. Time code's below though if you want to jump to anything, including the movie we're talking about this week. Simple working fella. That's right. He's working hard, isn't he? I think they're gonna, I think subsequent Statham movies, he can just be just like,
Starting point is 00:03:30 Yeah. a work in a shop. The Tomboy. What do you think? The Tomboy. He's a Tomboy. So he's a girl? No. His name's Tomboy. Oh, that's great. That's great. I love that. He could be a girl, whatever.
Starting point is 00:03:46 He could be a girl too. I don't care. Yeah. So we're going to talk about the- It's not whether I'm a girl or not. It's about honor and revenge. Holy shit, that's Tom Boy. That's Tom Boy. Look out. We're in the mafia. Look out.
Starting point is 00:04:01 We're in the mafia. We're in the mafia, yeah. So Rob Colleagues, who edits this and fixes things I put time goes below for we're gonna talk about the upcoming Zelda movie getting a release date the huge Avengers cast announcement the very long and we're gonna do it as slow as they did insufferable Yeah, but also is it before I get into that yeah, I'd imagine the person who just sat for the whole thing They're like something good's gonna happen for this Oh bunch of people I'm gonna cancel my entire day's plans for this cuz some greats Do you think they should have put the people in the chairs? Do you think that would have been more interesting?
Starting point is 00:04:32 I think they should have just put the people and not the chairs But they all have to sit in that awkward squatting No, and they're just and by like our four and a half takes Ruffalo's like But a fall over I'd hate to Ruffalo his feathers. That's right. You know he gets. Yeah there's a bunch of stuff around that including some other leaks and stuff from some other people that are gonna be announced. And then we're gonna talk about the original storyline for the Kang dynasty. That's exciting. Then we've got a trailer for one battle after another.
Starting point is 00:05:05 That's right. It's Paul Thomas Anderson. He's back. He's back. I didn't see Licorice Pizza. I should see that. That's good. Then we're going to talk about a bit of news with Matthew Stewart, some related to James Bond and the upcoming Blade movie. We don't know. Yeah. We get into it. Get into it.
Starting point is 00:05:24 With OK Audio. We don't know. Yeah, we get into it. Get into it with okay audio. Hmm. Let's not hear that with Zelda Oh just before that also minecraft movie this this coming week. So minecraft we're gonna do that next week Not no, okay. No pain. We can do both. We can do both. I got some time All right, some time. That's true. You have some time off. Mm-hmm. Very good, but Zelda the the Sony pictures slash Nintendo Animated project hot off the heels of Tom boys. Oh, wow, you're not wrong green suited Tom boys, Zelda the Sony Pictures slash Nintendo animated project. Speaking of tomboy's. Oh wow, you're not wrong.
Starting point is 00:05:48 That green suited tomboy Zelda. So this is going to be Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arata serving as producers. One better than the other. A dynamic duo. Yeah. It has a release date of March 26, 2027, which is a week after Sonic 4. Wow. Sonic the Hedgehog 4, that is. Would you say that's a huge mistake?
Starting point is 00:06:11 For them? No, I think Zelda is going to crush. I think it's going to do Mario. Oh, maybe not as big as Mario. Cause would you say Zelda is as big a property as Mario? No, probably not. It's harder to get into. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:21 But I would say it's, it will do very well. But then again, you know, people love the sonic movies in these Jim Carrey's always thrusting around in those It was thrusting around sometimes there's two of them. Um, the reason I think this might be okay also I didn't love the Mario movie We talked about when it came out is that Wes Ball is directing this he directed the latest Planet of the Apes Maze runner he did other things as well. I'm gonna say where where's Balland? You wish Mason, he died. He didn't die, he's still alive. He didn't die.
Starting point is 00:06:50 He's still alive, that's what I'm telling you. He didn't die, he continues to be in Limp Bizkit to fund weird other art projects and all that weird makeup he wears. Would you say he keeps rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling? I would say that he keeps rolling, rolling. Specifically he keeps rolling, rolling, rolling air raid vehicle. Which is the one everybody knows. Rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' That's my thoughts. I got a minute. Yeah. Mason. Yes. Let's do some very slow reveals for the Avengers Doomsday cast. Can we do five and a half hours worth for some reason? Do you think we could?
Starting point is 00:07:31 No. I completely checked out of this. I'm like, this is insane and I'm not engaging with this. Yeah, I clicked and I saw, I think the first three were revealed and everybody went nuts and I'm like, oh, the reveal is three cast members. Little did I know that it was this incredibly slow moving tracking shot across a bunch of directors chairs. And I went, you know what?
Starting point is 00:07:53 I'm going to go to bed and when I wake up, hopefully all the names will be revealed. And they were. Fantastic. But also, do we need to know everybody who's in this movie? Well, let's name them. Okay. And then we'll say whether or not we need to know everybody who's in this movie? Well, let's name them. Okay. And then we'll say whether or not we need to know. Okay, folks, if you don't need to know who are in the upcoming Avengers movies, don't listen to this.
Starting point is 00:08:11 That's right. If you want some surprises. Yeah, but it's everyone. Well, this is not everybody. It's everyone, but everybody will be in the next one. Everybody will be in it, yeah. Anyone who's not, if you're surprised by the omission of any famous Marvel actor, Tom Holland, for example, is not in this initial release.
Starting point is 00:08:24 But he is in it. He's gonna be in it, for example, is not in this initial release. But he is in it. He's going to be in it and he's going to be in Doomsday. Also, there are spoilers for Thunderbolts, I would say. There are spoilers for Thunderbolts, yes. So bear that in mind. So we've got Chris Hemsworth as Thor. We've got Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman. We've got Anthony Mackie as Bird Captain America.
Starting point is 00:08:41 We've got Sebastian Stan as Bucky slash Winter Soldier. We've got Letitia Wright as Black Panther. We've got Paul Stan as Bucky slash Winter Soldier. We've got Letitia Wright as Black Panther. We've got Paul Rudd as Ant-Man Tiny Chair. We've got Wyatt Russell as US Agent Regular Chair. Do we have to say- Survive Thunderbolts. Yeah. Do we have to say Regular Chair or Tiny Chair from now on? No, I think let- Regular Chair for that and then everybody assume we can assume Regular
Starting point is 00:09:01 Chair. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Teno Kuweta as Namor. Interesting because people are saying, didn't he get accused of something a few years back? That's definitely something. We don't know all the details of that. Also I was like, why is he in this? And it's like, oh, Invisible Woman.
Starting point is 00:09:18 Okay, I get it now. Okay, they're gonna fast track a potential affair storyline. Just really, just don't develop it over years. I forgot Naemor was in this universe. Yeah, same. tracker yeah a potential affair yeah storyline just really just just don't develop it over years I really just got name all this same yeah cool even moss back rack back Richard from the Punisher series correct and his character from the bear correct but nothing else that's it he's doing two roles yep they're both they're gonna be both in the scene at the same time incredible those two guys so we get along
Starting point is 00:09:45 I think I think they will yeah, so may you want a sandwich. Yes. No, I'm I'm busy. I'm busy doing punishes stuff Yeah, yeah, not punishes not for the punish stuff for the doing punishes building a gun or a gun sight or something Yeah, or doing a computer. I'm doing a computer. Don't look at me Simu Lee you as a shong chi. That's a long time coming isn't been around. Yeah, Florence Pue as I Black second black widow survived Thunderbolts. That's right. Kelsey Grammer is based Bolts. Yep. Now, do you think it's gonna be based from the alternate universe where he's a But original original base. I think they're just gonna fudge it and be like it's both it could be either It doesn't yeah
Starting point is 00:10:24 Well, that's X-Men isn't I had a thought today because we watched the movie a working man with Jason Statham and Before that there was a preview for the accountant to he said before but gone Yeah, I did and I meant to do it. Hmm to trap you you got me you and a little trap You got me you got me. So the the problem it run on bait. I know. Thank you But the accountant too and I haven't seen the first one, but this one heavily features his brother, played by Jon Bernthal and the accountant, he's got autism is that? Did they explicitly say that? Oh, did you pick up on that? Did you?
Starting point is 00:10:55 No, but did they explicitly say that in the movie? Yes, they do. And they've got his brother is Jon Bernthal, who's just like a regular dude. I think they should have done it Frazier style. His brother should have had more autism than him. They should do it like it's his Niles. Right? So the accountant seems-
Starting point is 00:11:13 Like non-verbal autism. Yes. Okay. I think that's a good idea. Thank you. I'm surprised I didn't do it. Who are we up to? Well, he's not announced with all the other X-Men characters, so maybe he's Beast.
Starting point is 00:11:26 He's Cartoon Beast or whatever. And they're gonna recast a beast. Yeah, I guess so. Louis Pullman is the Sentry, surprise. Survived Thunders. Danny Ramirez is the Falcon. No, that's not right. No, he is!
Starting point is 00:11:39 He's the Falcon, isn't he? Yeah, survived. He's new to the Falcon. Survived being sad in that hospital. That's right. Joseph Quinn is Human Torch, David Harbour is Red Guardian, Winston Duke is Mbaku in that hospital. That's right Joseph Queen is human torch David harbor is Red Guardian Winston Duke is Mbaku love that that's good. Yeah Hannah John common as ghosts of I thought about no arm taskmaster here. That's interesting. Yeah
Starting point is 00:11:54 Also, that taskmaster was cut out of the most recent There's a scene in Avengers Tower and she's cut out of it. That's weird She was in the previous version piece not in this version So she must have she must um have to step must have died in the movie She must have died and then they revealed it in the trailer died in that room Yeah, the room she's in in the in the in the only scene she's in in that that's probably what happened Yeah, Tom. It'll soon as Loki presumably tree Loki probably tree Loki Patrick shoulders professor Xean McCallan has as Magneto Alan Cumming as nightcrawler. Whoa
Starting point is 00:12:26 Rebecca Romanda's mystique James Marsden as Cyclops Channing Tatum as gambit. I'd have all those I Like that James Marsden is coming back as I chose that's my favorite Yeah, they're gonna explain how he remember he exploded or he didn't know he came back or whatever I was into that or something. They found Well, they found his visor, but then I guess the timeline was rebooted oh yeah days of future past but then it was also the future after that but then something they might have fixed it's fine he's fine yeah he probably fell into the river probably yeah downstream and went bloody oh yeah
Starting point is 00:12:59 bloody oh but I keep my eyes shut for a couple of years because otherwise I'll hurt someone yeah so I don't know where I am for a couple of years. Yeah, and he was just you know, mmm working in a bakers delight That's good. Yeah, didn't make a call. No, okay, man Scott. You're so good at making those cheesy puller parts I know I do if I feel I can't open my eyes. Yeah, we know Scott because of the laser eyes It's not a laser. It's a force for another dimension. You say that but we've never seen you do it. That's because I keep my eyes closed to protect you all. I've got to protect you all in this Baker's Delight. Can I make my one phone call?
Starting point is 00:13:31 No, you can't. Not at Baker's Delight. This isn't the police station. Get back to work. Channeling Tannin's Gambit, yep that's not a surprise these come up. So I guess they're just going to fold some X-Men stuff together. Pedro Pascual is Mr. Fantastic. I guess just because they didn't announce Beast with the other X-Men characters because the Fantastic Four weren't all named together.
Starting point is 00:13:49 So, you know. And then Robert Downey Jr. is Dr. Doom. Now Robert Downey Jr. What took to social media? I think you mean Dr. Doom Little? Dr. Doom Little, that's right. He said, that's what you call a deep bench of talent. Actually, it's more like a row, but an extra long one. That must be it, right? And Marvel Studios replied at Robert Downey, Jr Shut up, Robert. Yes You don't get one tweet here it's not bakers delight They said there's always room for more Wow now look people are like Oh th I've said Tom Holland spider-man's in a cap Chris Evans is gonna be in it as a Captain America. Maybe
Starting point is 00:14:29 They said he's expected to appear at least or his character with the lose Well, they said the latter of him is expected to appear in at least one of the two-part movies But then people are saying well, where's Hulk with Star-Lord? Where's Daredevil? Where's big wheel? Where's egg foo? It's egg foos a DC character. Yeah for one What are you thinking in saying that? But Daniel Richmond said Marvel Studios is a scooper. Marvel Studios only revealed some names for Revenge's Doomsday because they wanted a bigger reveal when filming begins. So I'm about to list a bunch of characters that may be revealed in the movie. This is extra spoilers. But just-
Starting point is 00:15:00 Is it what is this based on? Is this based on that concept art? Some of it. I don't know. He's got insider stuff. It doesn't say, but yeah, there is a bunch of people from that concept art, yes, that will probably be in this. I saw an AI version of that where they live actioned it. Okay. Jesus Christ. It looks really good. We're just having a bad time out here, Mason.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Oh yeah. Well, this week, I don't know, chat GPT developed some sort of Studio Ghibli thing and people went wild for that. Yep, probably destroyed some rainforests Well good, I guess that's good, right? It is good. Yeah. Yeah rainforests have had it too good for too long That's right. You know, we've access those styrofoam containers that don't recycle. That's what I Chris Evans is in under in an undisclosed role. Oh, yeah, Haley Atwell is Peggy Carter You think was a cheesy role? Yes pull apart. Maybe do you think he works at Baker's Delight is what I'm asking. I don't think he does. Do you mean in real life or in this movie? Both. Um, well one of those could be true. I wouldn't say both though. I reckon probably in the movie but then he'll do like a stunt
Starting point is 00:15:55 thing where he's working at Baker's Delight. Oh but that's not really working at Baker's Delight. That's like when like Trump worked at McDonald's. Yeah I know. And it's like that's not real Mason. Yeah. That's PR. It sure worked. We all loved know. It's PR. It sure worked. We all loved it. That's right. But you know. So you're saying you wouldn't love Chris Evans working at Baker's Delight? I would love it if he had to do it for four years.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Four years? Yes. Okay. I would think that was up. Okay, sure. It's like he's committed to it. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:18 But they've split his Avengers paycheck up. Every fortnight he gets like $40,000. I think that- No, no, no. All the other staff get nothing. He works regular Baker's Delight and he gets that wage in the end He gets the full payout if he completes it, okay Yeah, all right, and he gets like a couple of you can do six leave every now and then but he has to come back
Starting point is 00:16:34 And make up the guys. Yeah, okay. Yeah, how much unsold bread does he get at the end of the day? Let's have the Chris Evans. I don't think he's eaten bread man. Yeah, that's probably true Yeah, God But well then could he even do it because I'd be'd be like, if I was in training for a Marvel role and they're like, but you get free bread at the end of every day. Yeah. Yeah. It's tough.
Starting point is 00:16:52 But you get $2 million. Yeah, but I get free bread every day. Would you choose the free bread over $2 million? What about no bread for years? Yes. $2 million at the end. That is a lot of yeah I could starve rice true yeah thinking how much bread you could buy with two million
Starting point is 00:17:10 dollars I know right yeah bread for bread if you know what I mean I do should we keep going yeah no you should keep going I think I exhausted the bakers light bit many minutes ago yeah I remember I was in it yeah yeah Mark Ruffalo was Hulk Danai Gurira as Okoye. How do you say her name? I don't know. Show me the words. She's great. Show me the words on the screen. Oh my god. The list of names is so long. I'm going to say Danai Gurira. Yeah, she's awesome. Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Charlie is Daredevil there we go TV character Benedict Wong is Wong man the Nala Vanah
Starting point is 00:17:48 Lani as Miss Marvel Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye Tom Holland the spider-man Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie Evangelion Lily as the wasp or Betty is white Fission how much just just split up a two-hour movie over the number of stars here how much screen time they all get Cuz I am assuming they all get a minute each and then just cuts to the next thing they're not in scenes together I don't think so. I think maybe like a bunch will get a play in the first and then in the second It's like infinity war Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie Evangeline. I said that Tadiana Maslali Maslani as she hulked on Cheetal as war machine Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. She's got some nerve She hulked on Cheetal as war machine Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. She's got some nerve
Starting point is 00:18:29 Like a ogre karelin karelin co-host ask my thoughts No, there's no well if there's a universe reset and they all end up in battle or whatever Yeah, no, I don't I think this is this is throwing this whole thing. Yeah, do be very very Dubious they've just what they've done is've put the names into chat GPT. Yeah. And they've said, Hey chat GPT, what are the Marvel characters they haven't mentioned here? And it's just spit all these names out. This is a lot. Because what is the, who is, who is desperately waiting for taskmaster to be brought back
Starting point is 00:18:59 in one of the Avengers sequels? Nobody in the world. Because she was killed in... Nobody in the world. ...Plantabots. Nobody in the world. Yeah. Dominic Thorne is Ironheart, Sammy Love Jackson is Nick Fury, Hayley Steinfeld as Kate Bishop as again a lot of like bunch of these have been the concept art Elizabeth Olsen, Olsen is Scarlet which Dakota Johnson is Madame Webb. Yeah, okay, come on. I have been tricked here.
Starting point is 00:19:17 You've been tricked here. Yeah. Daniel Richtman. I don't know. Actually, because you said that because like looking at that article, Richtman I don't know actually cuz you said that cuz like looking at that article He said more people be revealed and then there was a paragraph break and then there was this list So yeah, Daniel tricked a man. Yeah I'll stop there, but it's all Marvel characters. Yeah every every mother but I think I do think though there will be reveals of Characters as they're filming and I've I've they even said they. And there'll be one almost on the scale of the Red Skull, i.e. a character you've basically forgotten about.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Yeah. Like, ah, it's the guy. Oh, it's Red Skull. Yeah, it's Red Skull again. Yes, I'm on this planet too. Yes. Yes. Yes, I work at Baker's Delights.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Whoa! Yeah. Opposing Baker's Delights. No. Probably one in the shopping center and one down the street. I guess, OK, I'll allow it. Yeah, that's right. Anyway, this is out May 1st, 2026. Nice. So it's just started to film now. Maybe they'll get it
Starting point is 00:20:11 done. I am now filming back to back as well. There you go. Well, I say, how Marvel get her done. Do you have jazz jazz? Do you pretty jazzed? What's the most exciting thing from this What's the most exciting thing from this? Of the real ones. Mine's Mbaku and I like James Marsden coming back. James Marsden is a very good one. Yeah, I like Winston Duke. Why isn't he in more movies? Maybe he is.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Maybe we're just, you know. I'm not in the Winston Dukes. Maybe he's in like good movies. Yeah. Would you want to move it called Winston Dukes of Hazard? Yes. Okay. Yeah. What about, so yeah. Anyway, you you want to move it called Winston the dukes of hazard? Yes. Okay. Yep. What about so yeah Anyway, you're excited for this. Yes, great. Next bit of news is why the Cosmic Circus
Starting point is 00:20:50 Alex Perez over there says this is the original plan for the Avengers Kang dynasty the movie that was scrapped due to various allegations in regards to Jonathan majors whose magazine dreams, recently came out and also bombed. Oh yeah, just came straight out and then went, yep. In the toilet. So apparently it was going to be separate Avengers team setting out to battle Immortus, Centurion and Ramatut.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Okay, as from the post credit sequence in something. Quantumania, that's right. The Concord variant was going to return from the beyond in the third act to take revenge against his doppelgangers and become He Who Will Remains. Also, they dealt with all of that in Loki. That's true. So that's all, they closed that door anyway. Doctor Doom was also apparently never part of Marvel Studios' original plan.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Doom and other villains were to be revealed to have been removed from the timeline by Kang so he could thrive. However, once the variants had been defeated, Doom was teased as the evil they were trying to keep at bay. I see. Okay. Interesting. So if this is to be believed, then Marvel have had to sort of put everything on fast forward.
Starting point is 00:22:01 Well, yeah. Alex Perez says, now you're getting the aftermath of what would have basically been the next saga, but with Doom at the forefront instead of Kang mixing with a couple of ideas from previous scripts. Okay. So yeah. I mean they say that but I mean how much of these movies have really built up to Kang ultimately? Well the Rooster Brothers are talking about these as the last Avengers movies that were an ending and these are actually a beginning. Okay. Which is an interesting way to look at an enormous team up movie with everybody in it. Even people who died in previous movies. Yeah, Thunderbolts. Yes. And Madame Webb. Yes, correct. And Madame Webb is in it. Maybe it's right. Maybe Madame Webb is
Starting point is 00:22:34 in it. Wouldn't that that would be a surprise on the level of the Red Skull honestly, if Madame Webb was just there. Or in humans. Or the Eternals. No, this is not in that list. Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah. Yeah, that's a good point, Mason. Trailers are hot! Sorry I couldn't be here to fight Thanos. This is the trailer?
Starting point is 00:22:53 But now I'm here. Oh, that guy. Jon Snow. Now I'm here to fight, um, Dr. Doom. I got a sword. I brought me sword. He's magic. Dude.
Starting point is 00:23:04 Yeah. Nice. you gotta go. Bob, I brought me so I don't want to be mean, but it's not not useful. You don't even do swords. You found that sword recently. I mean, I could do stuff with. No, no, just this is a new character. Just the voice of reason in a Marvel. Just he's at the door and there's like, you know, the universe is coming apart in the distance and he just vets everybody. He's a bouncer and he's just like, nah, no, mate. Come on. No. Punishing. No, mate. No. What's he got a gun? Yeah, but he could get some stuff. He'll adapt.
Starting point is 00:23:43 He goes cosmic. He's mates with Dr. Strange. Hey, man but he could get some stuff. He'll adapt. He goes cosmic. He's mates with Doctor Strange. Hey man, I could get some stuff. I guess you could get some stuff. Yeah. Name of stuff you could get. Um, a big laser. I mean, that is true. You could get a big laser.
Starting point is 00:23:56 Ugh, big laser. Black Knight, could you get a big laser? Well, I've got this sword. Probably not. I don't think I'd need a big one. Off you go. Off you go. Cake.
Starting point is 00:24:04 Come on, mate. And all season two, got another trailer. I don't think I'd need a bit one off you go. Oh, you're off you strike And or season two got another trailer that's our bonus content for the week in big sandwich.co We better believe it We're just gonna go through the list of people who are gonna be in this movie and whether the bounce would let them sorry correct And we're also looked at Star Wars Devil Worlds, which is the only Star Wars comic that's written by Alan Moore It's a real big sandwich.co if you are interested. I enjoyed that a lot. Anyway, the boat's here again. Honk.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Yeah, great, great. Angel Season 2 looks great. Ben Mendo's in it more. There's some choking. Maybe we're going to get a Darth Vader or whatever. Oh yes. But it's just somebody choking. I had, maybe, I had the, Disney emailed me, as they sometimes do, and they're like, if
Starting point is 00:24:42 you write us an email, you can get all episodes. We'll send them to you. Whoa. And like, if you, I'm getting vetted. And I'm like, you know what, I have to apply for. Yeah, I'm like, I'm just not going to put in the email. I don't know. I'm just gonna get chat GPT to write it. And you'd have to put it in. You'd have to put in a watch on a laptop or whatever. Exactly. And I have my name across it. And I'll leak it to everybody. I'll go to jail Yeah, and I don't want that so you were gonna have a backyard viewing party You're gonna put it on a big projector. Yep, and let everybody film it on their phones. That's right
Starting point is 00:25:12 You said must be BYO phone for recording is what I Insist but also I don't I would just watch it all I don't want to do that I'm gonna watch it in the burst that they're doing it in So there's that there was a trailer for Doctor Who After the new season I really like this new Doctor Who and this time he gets animated among other things It's true does and maybe he may meet an ancient race and you never even knew they were there But they're a galaxy threat. Yeah, absolutely doesn't like that They were there before the galaxy started or something or under it or behind it or something and they're like but now we're here in the regular universe.
Starting point is 00:25:47 You know? Are you scared? Nah, I'm just believing myself. Alright. We'll go then I think. We've seen how this goes mostly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've been watching.
Starting point is 00:25:57 I'll simply believe we probably will be defeated. We've been watching under the rug which is the galaxy. From under the rug which is the galaxy. Yeah, so we'll just go back under the rug. Yeah. We're the rug makers. Oh. That's what they call us. And they made the rug. And which is the galaxy. Yeah, so we'll just go back Under the Rug. Yeah. We're the rug makers. That's what they call us. And they made the rug.
Starting point is 00:26:06 And we made the rug. But the one I want to talk about is One Battle After Another, which is Paul Thomas Anderson's latest movie. That's right. The synopsis of this, it is based on a book, but it's when their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own owns daughter, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, etc. and so forth. I Yeah, good, great. Yeah. So this is based on Vineland, which is a Thomas Pynchon novel. That's the no,
Starting point is 00:26:37 this is not the first Paul Thomas Anderson. Thomas Pynchon adaptation also adapted in Heron Vice. Mason, you pinch him on off right now. Ugh. Oh, you pulling my leg, sorry. No. That's true, right? What's the other one he did?
Starting point is 00:26:51 Inherent Vice. Oh! I can't, I've never been able to finish it. I've tried watching it twice. So I can't finish it. I don't know. I like his work generally. I've just never.
Starting point is 00:27:00 I just got an AI video on Facebook of a guy standing next to a giant crab and then they roll and they form into a crab man. Okay, what do you think about that? Can I see it? It just disappeared. It just got lost in my feed. Wow. Yeah. Like tears in rain. Exactly. Sounds beautiful actually. Like crabs in the... So I go on then. Yes. So you were saying something. I don't know. I have full faith in this. It looks really fun. But you didn't like that other one?
Starting point is 00:27:26 I could just never finish in her advice. I don't know. There's something about it. It's got Wike and Phoenix in it. Oh, that one. Okay. Yeah. I know that one.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Oh Mason, I'm starting. I'm getting your goddamn AI slop now. A dude who's really old. He's 259 years old. And he's... Yeah. God, no. Anyway...
Starting point is 00:27:44 We talked about this. Yeah. God no. Anyway. We talked about this? Yeah, almost certainly. Okay. Paul Thomas Anderson for people who don't remember. Licorice Pizza. Phantom Thread, which I enjoy a lot. Yeah. Inherent Vice. Can't finish it. The Master's great. There will be Blood, of course. Punch, Drunk, Love. I'm sure a lot of people, you know, who listen to this have seen that because it's absolutely an Adam Sandler kind of dramatic Masterpiece. Yeah. Oh, yeah Magnolia boogie nights and heartache, which I always attribute to a different guy Paul Schroeder, but it wasn't it wasn't it was him Yeah
Starting point is 00:28:16 Apparently this needs 260 million dollars to break even according to variety and since highest grossing releases 2007 there will be blood which earned 76 million worldwide. What do you think? It's probably not gonna make its money back, but it doesn't matter to me. Yeah, if it's good, I don't care. And he'll probably get to keep making movies because he makes good movies. Yeah, so somebody pointed this out on Twitter earlier in the week. A lot of prevalence, prevalence a lot of these a lot of recently like a lot of articles about like well this movie needs
Starting point is 00:28:42 Yeah, this movie needs 300 million dollars to break even. Do you think it's some kind of studio kind of lot of articles about like, well, this movie needs, yeah, this movie needs $300 million to break even. Do you think it's some kind of studio kind of he are thing to maybe so that we can also pointed out that all like the major rags, so they start making good movies and make crap. Yeah, they make slop. Yeah, yeah. Like all the all the majors, like, entertainment rags are all in both the same company.
Starting point is 00:28:59 That is interesting. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe it's like, yeah, I don't don't it seems to be it's vaguely sinister I know we talk about it as well. Yeah, but like it they really I find it more interesting in regards to like maybe a Disney movie 40 million dollars yeah, yeah, but like this, you know doesn't seem crazy, you know, it's got Leonardo DiCaprio Yeah, good. It seems to be like a larger scale than a lot of the other stuff Yeah, I think it's got a good shot as any kind of, I don't know, a good movie that
Starting point is 00:29:29 isn't a secret or whatever. Yeah, for sure. I don't know. We'll see. September 26th. Acast powers the world's best podcasts. Here's the show that we recommend. powers the world's best podcasts. Here's a show that we recommend. We've all got that one post. Listen, maybe it's iconic. Maybe it's unexpected. Or maybe it's hiding a story only you can tell.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Welcome to Click and Tell. I'm Carlos Bustamante. And I'm Sangita Patel. We're scrolling through our guests' social media to find those photos. Those moments. And asking the only question that matters. What's the story really about?
Starting point is 00:30:07 That's right, from throwbacks to surprises, let's dive in. Acast helps creators launch, grow, and monetize their podcasts everywhere. Acast.com. Go on. Oh no, Matt's here too. Are you nice? Hey, can I ask your audience? I don't know if they can, they can't respond. This isn't live, is it? This one?
Starting point is 00:30:27 Not this one, no. So, I arrived and James offered me a beer. Yep. And then as we entered the studio, I realized that you two were drinking soft drinks. That's right. So that's like, when I, I think generally when I'm offered a beer at a house, normally at least one of the other people's drinking a beer. And I'm like, oh, I'm not going to drink soft drinks.
Starting point is 00:30:43 I'm going to drink soft drinks. I'm going to drink soft drinks. I'm going to drink soft drinks. I'm going to drink soft drinks. I'm going to drink soft drinks. I'm going to drink soft drinks. So that's like when I think generally when I'm offered a beer at a house normally at least one of the other people's drinking a beer and I'm like you know don't want to be rude I'll have a beer but somehow I've been set up to be I don't understand this prank but you've got beer by the ear. I thought that that's what you do. We're filming this for a documentary and later there's gonna be us talking heads going we offered him a soft drink But he used a beer out of his own pocket and just started drinking. I think that man has a problem
Starting point is 00:31:12 Anyway, thanks for the beer. I apologize. No, it's very nice. There's more beer if you want another beer Yeah, I won't be having a beer. Okay. Well that's now it's on me if I accept the next beer. James' kids are drinking beers Okay, yeah, that's right. Well, yeah, I'll have one with them. Beer before bed. Yeah, you got this. You got this. I wake up dead Now it's on me if I accept the next beer. James' kids are drinking beers. Well, yeah, I'll have one with them. Beer before bed, yeah. You guys don't wake up dead. What? What is this?
Starting point is 00:31:32 Something like that. So this is my deadline. So the new 007 movies, I don't know if you've heard this, but it's getting a big reboot for a number of reasons, the most recent one being that they sold everything to Amazon. Yeah it's very strange. I don't know it feels weird. It does feel weird. It's really strange. Correct. And also they are you allowed to say that that's how the last one ended? Yeah absolutely. I think at this point we kept it under wraps for a while but he exploded. Yeah yeah I guess they're gonna do some sort of but I mean every they're always rebooting kind of happens all the time
Starting point is 00:32:06 Well every 15 to 20 years. Yeah, you're absolutely right. And sometimes an old one comes back and he's real old Yeah, and that's fun. But uh, you know, it ran its course and they were gonna reboot it anyway But now it's over at Amazon and now it's got a couple of producers. One of them is Amy Pascal who works at Sony She did all the Spider-Man stuff. Well, not so much anymore. She was involved in the Sony, like remember that Sony email hack? A bunch of crook stuff came out and so she got let go and she's kind of doing her own thing.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Just been wandering around for a day. Yeah. I love how the consequences are only for a bit. Yeah, absolutely. You got money, it doesn't matter. But she also worked on Christina Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, so she's not unknown to that. And also another guy called David Heyman. And he's come on, man. He's worked on all the Harry Potter movies, even the three prequels that came out. I don't know if you saw those.
Starting point is 00:33:00 I saw the first one. Etc. Yeah, yeah. You stopped at the right point. Okay. Yeah yeah well done you figured out so what you're suggesting is they're going to combine these two franchises yeah that's what i think spider magic spy that's cool that is that is cool spy school spy school license to wand and learn license to wand and one day yeah that sounds really good so you were saying that earlier you know the the finale of the last one is that he exploded Licensed to one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one day one in the next one you just say that he didn't actually die but he was just you know horribly maimed or whatever and they gave him plastic surgery and then he's the next
Starting point is 00:33:49 he looks like Benedict Cumberbatch or whatever he's the next Bond and at the time I'm like well that's they're obviously not going to do that stuff that's so stupid as a concept but now it's not in their hands anymore yeah so it could be it could happen is that more of an Amazon vibe do you think? yeah they did that on the terminal list.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Did they? No, I don't know. Yeah, they might have. I mean, Amazon's not... They have made good stuff. They've made good stuff. And they also have made bad stuff. Like all of us.
Starting point is 00:34:14 We're all guilty. Like working conditions. Hey, come back! Come on, you. That's the guy who runs that one. Very unique as a billionaire. Absolutely, yeah. We like him here. So yeah, look, I don't think this is good or bad news. It's just kind of where it's at. Could you have an opinion
Starting point is 00:34:30 though? Yes. We've got a guest here. This all sucks and I wish the weird broccoli family still owned it. Oh, right. Because it was one of the only kind of IPs where it wasn't owned by a big conglomerate. An IP that people actually are interested in. It's so funny that it was like a family owned business. Yeah, it's not just. It's really weird. And now there's gonna be like probably streaming shows and Moneypenny spin-offs and little James Bond adventures. I assume.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Yeah, there will be. What if James Bond's parents, what are they like? Young Q. Young Q, exactly. I mean, Q was young, but what if he was even younger? Young M. Young Q. Young M. exactly. I mean Q was young but what if he was even younger? Okay, Young M. Young Q. I forget which that is which. I can imagine the pitch. Young Q. Well he is young. Okay, Young M. Whatever. Jesus. Pick one of them which is younger. Just give us the money. God.
Starting point is 00:35:21 I don't know. I think Bond is a mixed bag and always has been and will continue to be which is what I've said What's your favorite? I don't know. I mean just through stupid blind patriotism. I have to go lazy. Yes, and I've not seen that But I like it because everyone hates him, you know Like oh no, I can't be happy. Yeah. Yeah, come on. I mean I haven't know. I saw it. But I like it because everyone hates him. I love an underdog. I'm like, oh no, it can't be that bad. Give him a chance. Yeah, come on. I mean, I haven't, but...
Starting point is 00:35:50 I watched as a kid and of course everybody has made fun of it over the years and him. But I watched it recently and I'm like, this holds up actually. It's pretty good. Action's pretty good. Yeah. He's not great though, is he? I mean... Because he's not an actor.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Well, he is now. He is now. He was in no one image he said he was. He was like a model. Yeah. He got plucked out from obscurity kind of thing. Yeah, he kind of I think he literally did one of those things which is such a boomer thing. He like he burst into the office and was like oh it could be James Bond and they were like I like this. I just walked down the street in Hollywood and I handed a resume to the managers of all the movie studios I said, I like your gumption, start on Monday. Real Bond energy isn't it? Just being not secretive, very out in the open. I definitely grew up with the Brosnan ones.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Yeah, absolutely. And so that's what I thought Bond was for ages. But then yeah, the Daniel Craig ones have been good. They have been. Some have it that some of the good and Look, I'm bad. And then you know Sean Connery was bond. He was bonds that is undeniable So, you know I don't forget Roger Moore was one of the ball Yeah, yeah cool Timothy doll Timothy doll my favorite bond take but all right yeah yeah cool is that all the bones Timothy Dalton Timothy
Starting point is 00:37:06 dog my favorite bond yeah we yeah I was I was can't I was a camp down yeah my number one this one this last video uses by the insnider now there's been rumors this week or last week I should say the blade the movie is not happening anymore but it did happen it well yeah sorry they made three blade movies in a TV series with Wesley Snipes and then he came back in Deadpool and Wolverine more recently so that's exciting and so that they announced this blade movie in like 2019 and they got Mahershala Ali and like wow and it's got an Oscar one Oscar it's just maybe okay but and it's just been
Starting point is 00:37:42 spinning not happening if you like haven't seen that kind of movie in a Maybe. Maybe, okay. But, and it's just been spinning. Not happening. If you like, I haven't seen that kind of movie in a long time. Yeah, because you seem to have been locked into this. Trapped in, oh that's weird. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It really does feel like such a, it's a funny old business. Dittsville town, you know?
Starting point is 00:37:55 It is, isn't it? La La Land. All this stuff going on there. There's so many stories of a thing that's gonna happen and then it comes out 30 years later, you know, with the original cast, they're all dead now and then you know their children are like it's so odd yeah it really the names different you know nothing about it remains but it's the same project yeah absolutely happens all the time
Starting point is 00:38:16 they like scripts going to the was that the blacklist what's that no that's not right the blacklist is the one that the blacklist is the list of really good scripts yes that's the one I mean, yeah This doesn't happen. No, it's been through I didn't bother to list them I have before like all the different directors and etc that it's going through So there was rumors this week that it's canceled But now it's the ins night up just not are saying that he's a scooper. He's a scoop. It's all Yeah, probably too much
Starting point is 00:38:47 scooper he's a scooper scoops all the yeah probably too much Chad Stahelski who directed or co-directed at least all of the John Wick movies and look blade is known for its action he's running about yeah that feels like a good yeah I if this is true I would have thought Blade would be a pretty sure hit. That's interesting to say that, mate. That's exactly what everybody's been saying. And it's a real, you know, normal people are like, yeah, he's a cool dude and he fights vampires. And surely you write a script where he fights a bunch of vampires. But they can't do that.
Starting point is 00:39:18 The first one's really good though. So maybe they just like... Maybe they just, they start writing the script and they go, there's a room and it's full of people in a nightclub and then blood comes out of the fire extinguisher. Oh, I've just written Blade One. It was too good. I just keep going back to Blade One. For the listeners, Mace have fully acted that out.
Starting point is 00:39:40 His eyes were closed and he was mimeing a pan and pad. It was there. So look, I heard this and I don't know whether it's true from a guy who... It seems to be in the know that Mahershal Ali, because he came on as an Oscar winner, he has final say. I heard that. I don't know whether that's... I would say that's probably true.
Starting point is 00:40:01 And that's one of the reasons because every script is like, isn't good enough Which I don't think is a bad thing He's allowed to be like this sucks and I don't want to do it He wants to do I know there was one point was gonna be a period piece I think set in like the 20s or the 50s a ton. It's not now. So that's jumped around and So I and now he's 51. So it's kind of like I don't know if they're by zone age Well, he got laid does white ages will So I don't know weakness a lot of the evil vamps are just waiting for the dog Yeah, I just want you out like why you're not good. Yeah, that's no time for them. No, I don't care man
Starting point is 00:40:42 She's like a nap. I don't mind the idea my idea of a 1920s. It sounds fun. I agree. Well blight started What was his origin initially? Give it where he was a disco-caller guy. We know that he's from the 70s He's also a tradition. Yeah books. Yeah, they'll change for was it the cartoon the change of first of the movies I can't remember. Anyway, there's no way doesn't ask um, but yeah, he didn't always have all the vampire powers He got bitten by dr. Michael Morbius who was played by Jared Leto in the Morbius There's no way it doesn't matter. But yeah, he didn't always have all the vampire powers. He got bitten by Dr Michael Morbius who was played by Jared Leto in the Morbius movie. Oh, Morbintime. Yeah, it's Morbintime, thank you.
Starting point is 00:41:11 And that's how he got the rest of the... This guy knows his stuff. Yeah. This guy's good. We thought we were going to make a full review before we just got to name him, do a bunch of references. But anyway, so, anyway, Blade, is it happening? No, I would say.
Starting point is 00:41:23 We just, yeah, it. Surely, it'll happen. They've just gotta wait out someone to die. Yeah. Maybe, what a good scam though, right? You got finals, Say. You don't really want to work. Maybe he's got those pay or play contracts where they've paid him already. And they're like, if this gets cancelled and it's out of my hands, I just take the money out of it. So, absolutely. That's a good deal. That's out of my hands, I just take the money out of it. Yeah. So.
Starting point is 00:41:45 Absolutely. That's a good deal. That's an Oscar winning deal, right? Yeah. We should get the Oscar for that. Another Oscar. Completely agree. But what about this?
Starting point is 00:41:52 Young Blade. Young Blade? Let me finish. School. Oh. Yeah. Young Blade School. I like it.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Yeah, it's good, isn't it? So is there any change? I don't know, man. Oh, okay, yeah. Whatever, just give me the money. Doesn't matter. Okay, I like this. I think this could be really good.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Would that be like, uh, cliques? Sure yeah. I'm not saying that quite right, I don't mind. What are you saying? Cliques? Is that like cliques? Yeah, it's like cliques. I added a little something to it. Oh okay. I always think it's cliques. I always think this should be pronounced cliques as well. Because it's like, otherwise it's just cliques.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Cliques, yeah, okay. Yeah, where's the Q? Isn't there an omelette in it or something? Yeah, you're probably right. The school would have, instead of the nerds and the jocks and whatever, it would be different types of vampires. So it would be like the Nosferatu weird looking vampires. Twilighty vampires. Twilighty vampires, etc.
Starting point is 00:42:39 Yeah, I like that a lot actually. The goth vampires. That's how goth they'd be. Yeah, very goth. Double goth. Well, not goth enough. That's how goth they'd be. Double goth. Not goth enough. Yeah true. Their version of goths wear Hawaiian shirts and straw hats. Zinc on their nose. It's counterculture, I get it. Alright, we've got to talk about, well first of all, again, to mention your show Bad Boy, we'll talk about it at the end.
Starting point is 00:43:02 It's linked below. Check it out. Melbourne International Comedy Festival running between the 8th to the 20th of April at the Spleen Bar but uh look in the tradition of the beekeeper and the mechanic and the mechanic but again comes a working man or as I like to think of it Jason Statham does it taken but also he kind of gets distracted along the way and he does a bunch of side quests. For sure. Yeah. Now Matt, this is by, I don't know if you've seen The Beekeeper.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Have you seen The Beekeeper? I think I have but I couldn't tell you, it was like a really state of me film. Oh big time. It was a really state of me. He was a beekeeper. Same director by the way, David Ayer. So he was a beekeeper but he was secretly part of a special forces military operation called the Beekeepers. Yeah. Who kept the bees which was society. Was it a coincidence? It seemed to be. Because none of the others
Starting point is 00:43:57 were beekeepers. No, it was just him. He was the only one who took the metaphor literally. Yeah. To keep some bees. Yeah don't think I have seen it. That sounds so good. Anyway, I think it's better than this. I can't believe I haven't seen it. And what happens is he's a beekeeper at like a nice lady's, nice old lady's house.
Starting point is 00:44:18 And then she uses all her energy in a crypto scam. So he goes and he kills everybody including the president. He works his way up to the president president or the president's son or something Yes, pretty cool. This sounds awesome. So it's American as well. Correct. I like he's always an Englishman He's American I think in this but he's American in the Beekeeper, but he he's got a Jason Statham Yeah, they explained like he spent time in whatever. Yeah I don't remember. He spent time in a beehive and now he's got this action. I kind of think they should do that for everyone. Why do they make anyone do accents?
Starting point is 00:44:47 I completely agree. It's like they went to school in the country they're from. Yeah, that's funny. It takes a sentence every time. Yeah. Why is Benedict Cumberbatch running around with an American accent on Doctor Strange? We don't like that. He's a wizard. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Yeah, he's a wizard. Because he's a fucking wizard. Apparently they hired him because they were like, oh, Dr. Strange seems a bit British. We'll get Bentley a Cumberbatch. He's got that nice accent. And then Bentley a Cumberbatch was like, well, he's born in America. So I better be like, howdy. Hello, I'm Dr. Strange.
Starting point is 00:45:16 One New York pizza, please. Whoa, you guys are both really good at that. I've had to do a few auditions with American accents. It is hard. Yeah. Not for us. really good at that. I've had to do a few auditions of the American Accents, it is hard. You two made that look, I'll know where to come, do a bit of coaching. Yeah, absolutely. I did not get the parts. We've never got one, but you can do it. But yeah, so David A had directed that with Jason
Starting point is 00:45:38 Statham, he also directed Suicide Squad, the original Suicide Squad. The less good one. The less good one. But allegedly there is a better version of it. Better than you can possibly imagine. David A is always like, I've got a copy of this and one day... Is there a hash show? Oh, yeah. Sort of.
Starting point is 00:45:55 Save the A a card or something? Yeah, but it didn't get the traction that the Justice League one did. I would say the majority of people don't care. Would you say that's accurate? Yes. There's been a whole other film and it's sort of moved on. care. Did you say that's accurate? Yes. There's been a whole nother film and it's sort of new. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:46:08 The universe is rebooted. Spin off TV shows. That's right, Pixmaker. This guy. This guy. He's coming in. I really like that one. It's good right?
Starting point is 00:46:16 Yeah. Season 2 this year? We don't know. We don't know, Matt. Something to look forward to. You know, I would not have known about any of these things if it wasn't for this podcast Damn, that's so kind. You do like it got good Oh, no, no, I mean John like I never I didn't grow up on comics or anything. Yeah, I mean I missed out on all
Starting point is 00:46:35 No, I think of Sammy J Yeah, it was obsessed. He's got a crazy true story about a guy who was the gardener at his school and he thought he got him fired but then the guy turned out to be Richard. What are you talking about? The guy that Sammy J went to high school and he was obsessed with the Phantom, the comic book character, the Phantom. And the gardener at his school was also obsessed with the Phantom.
Starting point is 00:47:04 They became friends. And then there was like a prank gone wrong or something and the gardener left and he assumed that he got an infired But he had it but this guy then went on to become a model and he became like the character model for Reacher Oh, I thought you meant like the That's wild he looks like the actor who plays Reacher. Much more than Tom Cruise did, which is why that guy was so annoyed, right? The guy who came up with Reacher. Yeah, Mr. Reacher. Mr. Leigh Charles.
Starting point is 00:47:34 He's not his real name. Great. Well, speaking of, this is actually based on a book, but before we get to that. Oh, it is. Had a budget of $40 million. On the box office return on this was 15 minute 15 minute 15 million US opening That's just behind what the beekeeper made and it also beats snow white for number one spot in the box office really Yeah
Starting point is 00:48:01 Yeah, so this is based on the Chuck Dixon book series about a retired counterterrorism agent turned construction worker Mason what do you think the story was? Oh, by the way, his name's Lee Von Cade. Go on. Is it? Yep. We're not gonna call him out. Absolutely. So so Jason Statham. Yep. He was in the Royal Marines. Mm-hmm. And then he stopped being in the Royal Marines because he'd done too much heroism Yeah, he did and he rescued too many people and he killed too many bad guys. So it's like I'll change of me life I'm gonna be for the better just to be a normal guy in America
Starting point is 00:48:35 I'm gonna be friends with all the working men. I'm gonna be working man. I'm gonna work construction I'm gonna be friends with Michael Peña and his wife and her their daughter, but then what if she got human trafficked? What if she did I better get back I better go back to my old ways of being a true hero He doesn't want it because he's his daughter. Yeah, I'm not that man anymore. Yes to ask David Harper. Who's like, yeah, whatever He wasted a day there With these missing person cases, every minute counts. He goes for a trip to the country to ask David Harbour's permission and David Harbour's like, yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:49:14 And David, cause he's like, David Harbour, you're blind because I was, I rescued you from an accident. But he's like, yeah, but I- You were looking at the sun for too long and I could have stopped you if I didn't. And David Harbour's like, yeah, I would have died. Yeah, you should save that. What are you doing here? Anyway 24 hours gone She could be anywhere my dear. This is also written by David a director and yes, Mr Stallone correct co-produced by Sylvester Stallone and it's basically Rambo Last Blood again. That is interesting.
Starting point is 00:49:47 Yeah. Except they've added, because in Rambo Last Blood. That's a worse movie though. Yeah, it is a much worse movie. Rambo Last Blood, he's left his Rambo behind and he lives with a family and the family's daughter gets human trafficked and he's like, I'm going to go to Mexico to get her. And they beat him up. And then they beat him up and then he beat him up, and then he gets the daughter back, but then she dies
Starting point is 00:50:07 But then he goes back to his place any home alone all the bad guys as they shop this really He lives in the cave system. This is this is the same except they've added that he's got a daughter of his own Yeah, and he doesn't the girl dies pretty early on in Rambo. Yeah, but in this they've gone What if there were two daughters to deal with? Yeah. It's mostly fine? Yeah, it's alright. This hand. This has got a lot of extra stuff in it I feel.
Starting point is 00:50:33 It's meandering. Yeah, it's not. They need to streamline this, you know what I mean? Like Taken's like, it's tight. Yeah. We recently watched For Caravan and Garbage, we watched Punisher Warzone, which is similarly a kind of like, you know, revenge-y kind of flick.
Starting point is 00:50:50 And it's just so, it's quick as a whip. Yeah. But this one, you hit the nail on the head where you're like, he takes a day to go to this guy's house and be like, do you think I should do this? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:01 And there's a scene in this in a biker bar, and then like days later, he goes back to the biker bar again, and it's like... Yes. Okay. And there's, there's, there's a scene in this in a biker bar and then like days later, he goes back to the biker bar again. It's like, yeah, you could have done all your biker bar business the first time. Yeah. I also kind of lost track of like, oh, who's he after again? What's the oh, he's doing trying to get in this game. He had to buy two different lots of men. He's buying men. What are we doing? It felt like he forgot. He got distracted.
Starting point is 00:51:30 That would be a funny film, he ends up dealing meth. What was I doing again? Oh, the rescuing the daughter thing. I like how meth now in media is blue. It's just the universal colour of meth. I want a heavy bit of weight or whatever he says. But basically the daughter, not his daughter, but the the teenage daughter of his friends, she goes out clubbing with the girls and then like a human trafficker sees her and is like,
Starting point is 00:51:57 I'm gonna human traffic this woman to somebody and then so, so Statham has to get the person who was doing the human trafficking, that's ages, but that's ages towards the end of the movie, but then he's also got to get the bartender and there are like a couple of different hired thugs and there's like biker gang who are really loyal to this somebody and then there's the Russian mafia are there and there's like the Russian mafia and there's the Russian Mafia are there and there's like the Russian There's a Russian Mafia guy, but also his dad Yes, it's like a real family. Oh speaking family. It's also Jason Statham and Jason Fleming who worked In lock up a thousand lock stock into this movie. Yes, that's right
Starting point is 00:52:41 And he was also he wore a very similar coat in Pennyworth Oh, yeah, that's right. What a world there were I reckon there's a few nods to the Batman universe And it's directly a pedophile was the penguin with his pipe Oh, yeah, okay. Yeah, you fancy like there was a moment where you literally have like a Boy look like he was meant to they're like make him look kind of like the penguin Yeah, you were like you're the sentence. I was thinking you were gonna say you were like there's a lot of nods to the Batman universe, you know, like the pedophile I mean probably yeah, yeah, I mean Gotham, you know, it's getting pretty bad out there. Yeah, Batman Yeah, not you one. what's that weird universe? Earth one.
Starting point is 00:53:26 Oh. Yeah, doesn't matter. Anyway, I think Statham is good. Yep. I saw an interview recently where he's like, yeah, I kind of just do this one thing. But like, I think he's very good at it. I think he's very believable. Like, he started his career as like an Olympic diver and a model.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Have you ever seen Statham with hair? No, I don't think so. You're gonna love it, Matt. Alright. But... career was like an Olympic diver and a model. Have you ever seen Statham with hair? You've got to love it Matt. Alright. Chat to GPG, draw me an image of Jason Statham with hair. And that was when he was diving. Look up Olympic diving. Yeah, so he started there and then he worked as a model and among other things. Lockstock was his first role. But he wasn't this kind of unstoppable action
Starting point is 00:54:04 guy initially. He was more of a mouth guy in Lockstock was his first role but he wasn't this kind of unstoppable action guy initially. Ray was more of a mouth guy in Lockstock. Yeah exactly. He got jacked and then he just started doing this. I think also like The Bank Job's great. What other action movies did he do? What's that comedy one that he did? Spy? Yeah Spy is really funny. I like Death Race. I don't know if anybody else does, but I like it. We like The Beekeeper.
Starting point is 00:54:29 We do like The Beekeeper. He looks great. I mean he looks great with and without hair. But he had to choose. He's an inspiration for men without hair though. He's not an inspiration for men with hair. No. I mean if you say that people look, well I don't look like Jason Statham, so what do
Starting point is 00:54:43 you say to that? Get better looking idiot Damn all right about the was there one after Lockstock that was good. Yeah. Yeah, that's great Statham He made a bad film. Yeah Yeah, do you think that they... He made some Uwe Boll movies, I don't know if you know who that is, but that's bad. Okay, I do not know who that is, but it's a great name.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Dude, I did not know this was a movie until you messed with me the other day saying what you were watching. It's a movie! I literally got into bed and got on a just watch and said where to stream a working man and it said Huitit Cinemas. And I went, oh shit.
Starting point is 00:55:26 And I looked it up. I was literally in bed and it was starting in 10 minutes. And I just jumped down and went. Did you do this today? No, this was a couple of nights ago. It was my last chance to see it. So I'm like tonight in bed, watching a bit of Stapha. You could have watched any of them.
Starting point is 00:55:44 You could have watched the main game. But we wouldn't have known. But do you think like him having to go through it all is probably is that more accurate to what it would actually be like? Like you would be following this really long... Yeah I got that sense. And not everything goes somewhere. Yeah like the day that Ayer is about like when he does an action movie that's not like a superhero one, there are a lot of like, extraneous characters. And I guess, yeah, you would, I guess it's less real, it'd be less realistic if it was just like, okay, there's the bad guy and there's the henchman and the henchman kidnapped the girl
Starting point is 00:56:15 and he's just gotta get the henchman and the boss and that's it. You know what I mean? So I guess there would be, you'd have to jump through some hoops and some dead ends, but I, at the same time, I'm like like there's a lot of yeah did you need the did you need him to make a deal with the bike it game because he has to go to a bar and he has to he wants to he has to pretend he's a meth dealer he wants a supply of meth so
Starting point is 00:56:39 he goes to the bike it guy and the guys like prove it and then he has to beat up a bunch of guys and then the guys like I respect that you Yeah, I'm the army. Yeah Yeah, that was that was so funny how he like fully respected that other army guy even knowing that he's a key cog in this pedophile ring Still like hey rest in peace brother I Honestly thought that he yet you might have this is a well Yeah, you're gonna change sides or he was like I'm gonna kill this guy, but you know he did kill everybody else I think also I think the action is really solid in this but I don't feel like he was vulnerable at any point
Starting point is 00:57:19 Yeah, I was never like car. Oh, yeah. That was the time that kind of thing. All right, though Oh the cops. Yeah, didn't mind that was the time. And the cops. It seemed alright though. Oh the cops? Didn't mind that element of it. You know what I mean? The cops being there. Yeah, not true to life though. Because they were bad. That's so true.
Starting point is 00:57:31 And all cops are good and we all know that. Yeah. That's our acronym. A-C-A-G-A-W-A-K-T. Correct. And we all know that. I don't know, I just think though, it's an hour fifty-six. And I was just like, it got to a point
Starting point is 00:57:46 where I'm like, underworld and who's he talking to and he killed the main guy, but that was, he's got a brother. He's still gonna kill the brother. He's got a nephew that he's got to, and then there's two tracksuit dudes running around with hats on and also like the parents that he promised, like they just disappear. Like for like most of the movie. Yeah most of the name actors. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:09 When it starts and the credits coming up you're like oh David Harbour's in this. Yeah. They're not in it for much at all. No. Well David Harbour's in Suicide Squad. So I assume that they're friends. Right. Him and David, eh?
Starting point is 00:58:21 But I don't know. And again there is that side plot about as all these movies he's he's a strange from his daughter, and he has to he's to be a good dad is the father-in-law does not like him at all He's doing weird party. That's the grip for Jay and dad. Yeah, sorry yeah, yeah, so he's why? Yes, but um yeah, and so there's also this element, we're sort of going to spoilers here I think, but Let's do some, should we do some, should we call it? I'm gonna say, look, I didn't feel my time was totally wasted. I'm gonna say best movie ever. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll say that. Matt, you can say whatever you want.
Starting point is 00:58:58 I would also say best movie ever. I had a great time. It was a real surprise cinema routing. It felt like a movie that would not be seen on a laptop, but it's great to see it. Great to see it on a or on the you know, on the back of an airplane chair, but it was it was great to be at the cinema. You showed up in the had a big popcorn. You had a nightgown with your popcorn. You had one of those candle holders. Exactly, that's right. Sorry, sorry. But yeah, sorry, sorry, I'm late.
Starting point is 00:59:25 But yeah, so there's, obviously he's got to rescue the daughter of his friends. He's also got this daughter, his own daughter, who's a little girl, and there's, you would think there'd be a real, like a kidnapping of her, like, he really, like we've talked about how it's sort of meandering, there's quite a bit of time where he gives the bad guys like a fake ID that he knows they can kind of track his real identity. And then he's like, you should probably go and see what my daughter's up to. Like he gets a call from the school and is like, oh, your father-in-law hasn't shown
Starting point is 01:00:01 up to pick up your daughter, is that normal? And he's like, well, I'll come and pick her up,. I guess there's no urgency to that at all. It's so weird I'm like yeah, he didn't seem like he clicked it. I wonder if that's connected. Yeah, the father-in-law Picking her up. Yeah, I read that he's not As a Royal Marines Special Forces guy, I reckon I'll be like I'm gonna go to war with The Mafia and a biker gang and some psychopaths Yeah, and that pedophile. Yeah, I reckon I would probably put my daughter in a secure location Yes before that not get halfway in
Starting point is 01:00:34 Because he knew because as soon as he killed some Russians is like oh fuck this is Russian like that's the point where you go All right, I'm gonna send my daughter to David Harbor and his mute wife. And then they don't give her a line until the end. It was really strange. Well he's blind, she's mute. I assume. That's how they meant it. I thought it was like a contract thing, like they couldn't afford to pay.
Starting point is 01:00:57 How many lines do you get? Yeah, exactly. There was that thing of you get paid for a line. Yeah. I reckon she's still probably under something. Yeah, exactly. There was that thing of, yeah, you get paid for a line. Yeah. God damn. Yeah. I reckon he's still probably under something. Yeah, say something. They were there for a while. They did the scene where he took him into his case of weapons.
Starting point is 01:01:15 Yeah. That classic scene, which one do you want? And he's like, oh, my old friend. Yeah, I love guns. It's all great. He really, yeah, he loved guns. David Harvish. Do you want a cool gun or a bad gun? I've got so many options.
Starting point is 01:01:26 Good question. And he shot an arrow at him. A blind David Harper shot an arrow at him at the start. That's character development. Is it? Yes, he's got all sorts of stuff going on. Character stuff. Stuff going on.
Starting point is 01:01:37 I didn't even connect that he was blind because we didn't know he was blind. No. I didn't think back to that. But yeah, it's a fun little element and that's character development it is that's what I liked about it yeah the one bit that made me laugh there's a moment the second time he goes back to the biker bar he forgot some stuff he forgot some stuff he's scoping them out but he's behind what looks like a Saturday Night Live like fake Bush Yeah And they're like right there like four feet from him He's got his little notepad over his laptop and he's like researching everybody
Starting point is 01:02:10 Yeah and they see him on the cameras They see him immediately They see him on the cameras and he's like oh no And you'd reckon that that would be I thought that was him setting them up for something else Yeah I spent some of this movie going aha they're chasing him on the bike but he would have set up some He would have set up some he will have set up some stuff
Starting point is 01:02:25 He's probably going to pick up his daughter Yeah, yeah He had nothing He was just like, oh no If he didn't get, what was he going to do if he got away? It worked out well for him to get Get kidnapped too, he got to get in the van Yeah
Starting point is 01:02:36 Now were there one or two baddie women with forehead tattoos? I think that was the one That was the one Yeah, that's a good question She would pair it up with that guy but then she was also Yeah She had the golden gun, I think that was the one. That was the one. She would pair it up with that guy. She had the golden gun. I think that was the one. I'm like it would be crazy if they've given them two separate. Because when she was in one phase. Might have been different hair styling. Yeah there was something and I'm like there's no way they've given us two different. Unless it's gonna turn out there's a whole gang of women with forehead tattoos.
Starting point is 01:03:06 Or just two. Yeah. And she was, yeah, cause I had a similar thought because when she was with the guy who looked like Rob McElhenney, it was like very clear that, is that how you say it? Yeah. They're together, but sometimes she was on her own
Starting point is 01:03:19 and I had a moment where I was like, oh yeah, cause she works in the- She's in the security room. Security room or whatever, yeah, I see what you're saying. Where she works for the biker gang or the mafia. Yeah. But she also goes out in the club. But she seemed also way more with it when she was in that role.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Yeah. That's interesting. I wonder if it was two roles that they just went, ah fuck it. Yeah, maybe, yeah. We've already got 16 characters here. Let's combine a couple. And that McElhenny guy, he was on one of the, I think he might be English, because I'm sure he was on one of the, you know that guy who writes a lot of like suspense series that Netflix makes, that English thing?
Starting point is 01:03:58 And there seems to be one every year or so. He's in one of those. Oh, right. I think. I can look that up. All right. Sorry, I was really... I just thought I was talking about an encyclopedia. No. I liked the Russian mafia guy who looked like David Guetta. He just looked like a DJ. Yeah. With the sun, like the loose sun.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he was... he was a fun character. He was fun, wasn't he? He's an Irish actor actually, but yeah, you're right He was in the Deceived, he was in the Tower These all could be Netflix. Yeah, B1. Yeah something like that. Or actually was it Maybe it was that one with Dr. Who as a cop investigating. A Broadchurch. Maybe it was Broadchurch. It was in Peaky Blinders. Does that help? It could have been Peaky blinders. Does that help? It wasn't no, all right was and it was that other guy's in the American version of broad church that had a different name But that's not no, okay. He was in Derry girls as a character called mad stab
Starting point is 01:05:00 Okay, so that's good. That's good. It was in Krypton. He played the Lobo in Krypton Oh wow Right, they didn't know that. This is all good. I was in Constantine the TV- he's in a lot of stuff. He's in The Fall Does that count? Yeah Is that British enough? British enough? British and Netflix? It was in the yeah the show, you know when you watch so much stuff and it all just murders together Absolutely. Yes. Yeah, I think he was like an ex-military guy in this yeah was he in a working man? Oh working man that's it. He was the head right guard in Guardians of the Galaxy there you go. He's around a lot of stuff.
Starting point is 01:05:34 Irish great stuff anyway so I kills everybody he runs in he kills everybody and then the last Russian mafia guy left because he killed all his family he calls the head mafia table and he goes this is the mind that the he kills Yeah, the bowl I said yeah, and he goes this is I want to kill Jason Statham and they're like well No, you got the girl which was what he was doing and The business is done so he goes Yeah, that was great. Oh, I was like kids and nephews and such There were two there was of my notes that I've got down here. This is the classic bit of him in the back of a van
Starting point is 01:06:15 Yeah, there's a fight going away. Well that job is about to get But yeah, I did if I was driving you you stop it. Yeah There were a couple of shots whiz past his head yeah, like there were warnings. It's true. Yeah, you got more than most And that happy was the moon Yes, you're right I'm like holy shit, that's a huge moon. There is the lunar illusion is that the moon looks much bigger when it's closer to the horizon than it does when it's directly up in the sky. But that moon was like insane.
Starting point is 01:06:56 It was like the sun. Bigger than the sun. You reckon? Yeah, I reckon it was. And was it moonlight or not? When one of the girls was playing on the sun. You reckon? Yeah. Yeah, I reckon it was that night. And it was that was it Moonlight Sonata when one of the girls was playing on the piano. Oh yeah. The kidnapped girl and he goes Moonlight Sonata. It was such a funny like like quite a well-known piece of classical music like I'd even heard of it. Yeah. So like I don't know if we're proving his credentials which I guess is
Starting point is 01:07:22 what that was meant to be. He's got taste. This guy knows too. Yeah, I'm a man of culture. But of course we get to see her playing that in a bit of a scene later on. Oh yeah, she was good, what's her name? She was fine, and she was just not fazed by any of it. No. Well she knew karate, so.
Starting point is 01:07:42 Yes. She learned how to break fingers. Yeah, all she needed to do was bite at a time until someone was in a position to be killed by her And then she just kills that woman by breaking her neck Ariana Reva's her name is Lucky that she could because Statham was busy He was very busy If the...
Starting point is 01:08:00 I reckon it'd be quite difficult to break someone's neck Oh yeah Wrapping your legs around their head. And you hear the crack as well. Like she does that. And I saw her open caption, so it said, it snaps neck. Did you really?
Starting point is 01:08:11 Yeah I did, yeah. Amazing. I, I, and then she, Yeah, double fingers. She turned around and I did it, and then she did it. Really? Yeah, it was a really great moment for me. So just like you and her fucking pointing at each other.
Starting point is 01:08:23 Yeah. Wow. Yeah, but even when you're saying like she wasn't bothered, he takes her back to the family and she's like, let's not talk about any of this. Yeah. This is this whole weird thing. You're like, well, let's really hope that the Russian mafia are going to let this go. Yeah. Cause otherwise you're living in your... With your entire family. Yeah, exactly. This is, it feels like there's gonna be a sequel to this. Yeah, cause the dad. Yeah, cause the dad. He screamed into the night.
Starting point is 01:08:50 Yeah, that's right. He screamed into that big movie. Yeah. I swear by the moon. I will have my revenge. That's, you do that voice and you sound like the Despicable Me Groove. And there is a movie where he steals the moon so it's you know I just think that's interesting I know it was an accident but that's what happened and I think
Starting point is 01:09:10 everybody can agree I haven't seen that but my Groove impression is very good it's really good yeah it's a really good Groove yeah yeah all in all yeah I don't know I think it is a laptop movie yeah I think you should watch The Beekeeper though if you if you want a bit of a kick I'm keen I'm gonna go watch it right now. Yeah, if you're uh, hey really? I'm thinking about me. You know, I'm in the middle. I mean I'll say for what are you gonna read or what? What are we reading? Yeah? Yeah, but I'll almost I know people are probably hanging out to you what I've been watching Oh, yeah, I'll save it for the appropriate segment Well speaking of why don't we jump over to that segment? Okay, what's it called again? It's called What We Readin'. What We Gonna Read. You already said it,
Starting point is 01:09:47 but that's kind of the way we lead into it. Exactly. Yeah, that's right. And the audio is better than ever, isn't it, everybody? I would hope so. So some of that was, is that backup recording? Now it's recording. Now it's recording. We might need that. Yeah. Not twice in a day. I don't think so. Now this is the segment of the show, as we all are aware, we talk about things we've been watching, reading, listening or doing. It can be a physical activity, a mental challenge, perhaps. Can it be those things? Is that new? Yeah, that seems new. No, it's always been implied. I could have said some crunches every week. a mental challenge perhaps. Can it be those things? Is that new? Yeah, that seems new.
Starting point is 01:10:25 No, it's always been implied. I could have said some crunches every week. Yeah, but you've been crunching every week. No, but I could have. It would have inspired me to do that. You've been crunching some video game developers. That's what you've been doing. Make sure they get it done.
Starting point is 01:10:39 In my video game sweatshop. Yeah. Who would like to, Matt, would you like to go first? I would like to, Matt. I've been watching The Residents. Have you been watching that? It's like a cozy mystery set in the White House. Oh no, I haven't. I was thinking of that ER show that's not ER. The Pit. Yeah. What's The Residents?
Starting point is 01:10:58 Well, it's like Poirot and the American and Kyle Minogue's in it, which is crazy. What? She's from Street Fighter the movie. She's playing herself. What? and the American and Carmen Oaks in it which is crazy yeah it's a street fighter the movie she's playing herself what it's a it's really it's a oh I recognize they um it's Carly Manon yes so it's all set on the one night there's a murder and on that night there's a state dinner at the White House where they're hosting the Australian Prime Minister John Howard and it was And it's a fictitious one, but played by a real Prime Minister's son. Julian McMahon. Julian McMahon.
Starting point is 01:11:29 Get out of here. He's from NipTuck. Yeah. And he's Dr. Doom. Yeah. That's fine, two times. Yeah. So yeah, he's the Prime Minister.
Starting point is 01:11:37 He's got a great cast. Yeah, it's true. Randall Park's in it. Yeah, he's so good. Damn. I love Randall Park so much. Giancarlo Esposito? Yes. Is he evil? He's murdered. I don't know if that's in the last episode.
Starting point is 01:11:48 No that happened pretty quickly. We've been talking recently about how, well I've been saying I would love Sean Kahlu Esposito to break out of his kind of... Yes and you said you'd love him to be murdered and this is the next best thing. That's pretty good. I'll take it. His characters, like he's the head Usher is his title but he's like the boss of all the staff So we like it is against type for sure. That's good. Yeah, that's that's that's a good start Yeah, and even though he's dead like most of it is played in memories and flashbacks and stuff So it's very choppy. They jump around a lot like where so Al Franken is a senator who's like he was a senator Yeah, and he's holding a hearing which is obviously in the future at some point.
Starting point is 01:12:28 And then we're hearing their perspectives, people telling the hearing of the night. And then we see the night, but then we see the the Poirotard, who's a birdwatcher. Yeah. And she is then getting their stories. And then we're seeing those stories. So it's like, you know what I mean? It's like bird watching skills come into play. Yeah. Yeah. So they really, is that a spoiler or is that also? No, that's right off the bat. I thought I was watching a bird, but I was watching the assassin. We met, we made her as she's like distracted by birds, I think. Oh, what house house lawn is she like? What's her superpower? Is she
Starting point is 01:13:00 autistic? I think she would be, but yeah, it's memory. I think she would be. I have no right to diagnose anyone with anything. But no, she um, she's she's, she won't she won't give up. Yeah, tonight. And she will she takes her time. I give up and I never take. Yeah. So that's superpowers. Yeah. So you would recommend this? It's getting a good writer. I'm really enjoying like halfway through I think Netflix puts it all out So yeah, I've been watching it at my own leisure chipping away. Yeah, I would have been watching the next another episode time
Starting point is 01:13:33 But now I'm watching the beekeeper instead. That's right Well, that's great. What about you? That's also that also a lot of that is set in the White House. Well, there you go That is true. That's the only kind of shows I watch any Well, I've got a little I'm on a little holiday, so I'm going to see a lot of comedy festival shows. I'll see Matt's show, Bad Boy. Must be nice. It's going to be exciting. Are you doing Do Go On's 500th episode?
Starting point is 01:13:53 Yes, that's right. I am doing that. Yes. Towards the end of comedy festival? I think it's the week after comedy festival. Oh, very good. Do you need someone to do the Star Wars Prookle episode? Live in your 500th episode? If you want to do that instead of me researching something, that sounds fantastic. I don't want to do that actually. I don't want to do that at all.
Starting point is 01:14:13 I think that's currently sold out, but I think Dave is figuring out a way to add some extra tickets. Nice. He's going to bounce people at the door. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, for attitude or shoes just vibe don't like it yeah yeah yeah it's a two to one ratio for days always has been which is weird because it's a two to it's a one to two ratio on our part of chicks oh yeah damn yeah I guess he's making up for that yeah which is fair yeah yeah I haven't watched it yet but have you guys heard about the studio? Tremendous there was a recent show about a Marvel fake Marvel. Yeah the franchise
Starting point is 01:14:58 But that got that go cancelled. Yeah, of course it did. So this is it. This is here instead I'm excited for this good cast as well Rogan's in it Catherine. Oh, hi is in it Catherine Hans in it. Yeah a lot of a lot of cameos apparently oh yeah all about those cameos where do you where's that what you're on Apple TV plus cool and it's out to two episodes yeah great all right I'm on that it's a big night now beekeeper whatever that was because the studio yeah yeah I'm probably the next episode of the No sleeping tonight No sleep for Matthew if you're looking for another thing to watch I saw Snow White My daughter um
Starting point is 01:15:34 It's bad. Oh Yeah, I mean we all know that because it's doing well. This is fascinating though because You know notably a lot Disney's done a lot of live action remakes, well live action, you know, more photo realistic. They've taken their animated movies and they've made a photo realistic CGI versions of them. They've done it with the Lion King and Aladdin, etc. and all many of which are to mix very mixed reviews. But this one is the first one that isn't doing well.
Starting point is 01:16:12 Yeah, it's definitely doing worse than Dumbo. So that really says something. Also, this movie, the original was like 90 years old. I wouldn't say it is even like it's not beloved at this point, either, I would say. There's no real hype for this. And I know the reason that people look, I hate to get into this, the reason people saying it's bombing is because Rachel Ziegler came out for Palestine. And there was even a story this week that she got a visit by a studio head, Mark Platt, who flew over to Dibra talking to, and then whose son defended him on Instagram. And his son is also the brother of Dear Evan Hansen. So that's a whole nepotism situation. That's not the reason why this movie is bombing.
Starting point is 01:16:51 It's just not good and nobody wants to see it. And people say like- But that's why you don't like it. Because you are any work, right? That's right. Correct. Yeah. No, it's just not good or interesting or fun.
Starting point is 01:17:02 Like there's the old elements which don't work and they mess that with the new elements which also don't work You elements? I don't know Yeah, and look I wouldn't even say yeah She sucks But I wouldn't even say that she's terrible the worst part of it because the Queen is supposed to be this like ice cold Like maniac and like she does she does that right? She doesn't got a lot of range But she does it I would like people say Rachel's egg. Lo like saves this. I don't think she does she does that right? She doesn't got a lot of range, but she does it I would like people say Rachel Ziegler like saves this. I don't think she does. I just don't think it's good I took my daughter and she was like, yeah, and she's like the prime age
Starting point is 01:17:35 You know your kids kind of ruin that age for they don't have any taste yet. No Yeah, everything's good. It was the best age to be a kid and everything in the cinema was the best Yeah, and I look back at the movies like these were not good at all, but I love don't know good Well, that's an exception So I just yeah, it's just yeah, I think people also sick of this stuff They're sick of the remakes and especially like again. This movie is nearly a hundred years old So that now but then what is the next Disney live action? Well it depends because I feel like Lilo and Stitches like that will definitely do better.
Starting point is 01:18:10 Well that's also a remake of a much newer property. Exactly it's a newer property and it looks fun where like the trailers for this and apparently there was a bunch of reshoots because they've got like this band of thieves which was supposed to stand in for the seven dwarves and then kind of got leaked. And then, and so then the seven dwarves are also in it. But also I heard- Are there seven bandits? Yeah, so there's seven bandits and I don't know if it's seven. And then there's seven dwarves as well.
Starting point is 01:18:37 And I don't even, but it also it's the kind of movie, I think I saw, I was listening to Markimode's review and somebody wrote in a letter that was like, no, both those were Supposed to be in that in the first place now that doesn't make sense to me either like either decision is bad. Mm-hmm Sorry, maybe there's seven dwarves in the seven bandits were all gonna get married at the end And like some of them some of the bandits got married. Yeah, that's what I figured Yeah, and you know, it's just and the dwarves because they're proportion and they look like the card own cut cardoon The car there we say this right? Yeah fucking hideous like yeah, they're like big fleshy It was that originally gonna be little people actors, but then there was an outcry of some know some of them I think there's one that is a little person and that's it
Starting point is 01:19:21 And I know Peter Dinklage said something about it And maybe that had something to do with all the This cost between 240 and 270 million dollars So which is also like that's way too much like even if this made a billion dollars That's way too much, and it's not gonna make it got beaten by the beekeeper to or whatever we talk about like brutal It's just not it's just it's a perfect storm of just like nobody wants this have you liked any of them? I? Like Cinderella. I didn't actually mind the last Lion King. Yeah, I like that one I'm the only person who didn't hate Aladdin. I like The new one just okay, I'm one of the few people who likes the original Aladdin. Let me check.
Starting point is 01:20:07 But yeah, I mean, what they what I guess what they're the wall they're hitting up against is that Disney make kind of technically proficient movies that aren't that good. Like, yeah, and but they're sort of propelled along by like, what's the Lion King? I was the you know, something you recognise. Whereas, you know, people don't remember Snow White, really. I mean, they're doing Moana again. Yeah. Just a third one. No, no.
Starting point is 01:20:34 Oh, no, they are remaking the first one. I mean, I didn't like the little man. I really like the Little Mermaid. Like, I didn't care about it as a kid. Pinocchio, you like Pinocchio. I didn't care about it as a kid. Pinocchio, you liked Pinocchio actually. I didn't like Pinocchio. Corella, I didn't mind. It was okay.
Starting point is 01:20:50 I'm just looking at this list. But that's not so much a remake as it is a prequel, alright? Good point actually. And Christopher Robin, which is a Winnie the Pooh live action prequel, is about Christopher Robin's grown up and then his toys come back. And he's like, am I going crazy? Is that the one where he's depressed? Yes! Is that Ewan McGregor? That's Ewan McGregor. From Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show? Correct. I've got a lot of stuff to watch tonight
Starting point is 01:21:12 That's right. So look, yeah, I can't um, oh, you know what I saw Pete's Dragon. That was alright. I remember That's okay, I guess. And I did. But they've still got a lot to do if they want to keep doing it, I guess Yeah, and they can do sequels to remakes. Would you be able to figure out James? What is what's the the animated movie? They made after Snow White. Maybe they're just gonna do the Cuz that was the root that was original feature Length one, I think yeah, and that was like revolutionary the time. Yeah, there was nothing Had been so I remember watching as a kid and you like didn't know that cartoons were ancient. No, you don't know, right?
Starting point is 01:21:47 Yeah. Yeah, that's like there's a you know, there's a real like there's a beauty in that original movie. Yes. And I'm not just talking about all the beautiful people they told me. Oh, that's what I was talking about. Was it Maleficent or whatever? Was that kind of like a? Yeah, that was a prequel also sidequel.
Starting point is 01:22:04 Oh, but that's not that's not that's a different which she's from Yeah, that's a different which then there's two of those and they might be doing a third one So it was Snow White then it was Pinocchio original Pinocchio then Fantasia then the reluctant dragon Then Dumbo then Bambi then sell dos amigos and then a bunch of stuff I don't Bambi's up for a remake. Cinderella's from the 50s, Peter Pan's from the 50s. You can watch that deer die in a fire in full photo-realistic glory. Get ready for it.
Starting point is 01:22:34 I think that would be fantastic. You could do, yeah, photo-realistic fire. Imagine what that could look like. With $240 billion behind it. Yeah, nice. So look, this is, yeah. Look, I am interested in Lilo and Stitch though, to be fair. I've never seen the original of that. It's good.
Starting point is 01:22:50 It's fun. I'm interested in the sense that like, I wouldn't, I don't hate the idea of going to see it, is what I'm saying. That's not an endorsement. That's just, that's what I think of it. Anyway, bad. Don't say it. Okay.
Starting point is 01:23:03 I mean, you can. I know you're going to anyway you're gonna rush home and yeah well I'm gonna say there's a yeah screening tonight screening screening anyways Matt but that is confusing two different groups of seven I thought they'd replace the dwarves with something else but it might not be seven but yes there are two different interests hearing there was two groups of seven and that's interesting and they've gone. Yeah, the Like that's that's someone not making a decision that feels like
Starting point is 01:23:32 Let's just have a boat. Yeah Well girls like dwarves will give them something for the boys There it is some of the boys And even the music come like I don't really remember which of these are the new and the old songs Well, the new the new songs are the rap ones. Oh, yeah, that's right The trap you're right Anyway, and and the witch goes she goes into the mirror then she gets sucked in. Whoa It's sucked in by the mirror. Yeah, man who was in the cartoon like a living thing. Yeah, yeah. So it's like, he ate her? Well, no, at the end, she goes to the mirror and she's
Starting point is 01:24:09 like, because Snow White comes, I'm spoiling it, the Snow White comes back to the castle. And the witches turn it into this, like, all the people who used to be farmers and poets and now they work, they're soldiers. And so the evil queen, who's a stepmother, had come in and changed all it and they're like she's like kill Snow White It's no what's like. I remember everybody here is name and I remember all your jobs and they're like Let's not kill Snow White and then the witch is like, oh shit Oh, yeah, so she runs up to the tower and he goes to the mirror Hey mirror, am I the most beautiful still in the mirrors? She wants to get one in before? Yeah before she goes in the mirror
Starting point is 01:24:44 Goes hey, man You're fucking hideous inside and the witch is like oh Goddamnit, and she smashes the mirror that years ago. Yeah myself Yeah, and the mirror smashes and then a smash in slow motion And then it turns the wish to ash and then she sucked into the mirror oh And then the mirror is gonna be the next mirror I guess I don't know if you saw the movie wish that came out a few years ago, which is like the culmination of all Disney
Starting point is 01:25:08 things forever. That also has the origin of the magic mirror. A man at the end of that gets turned into the mirror. That's not a good movie either. Too bad movies that I recommend. So what was this Baxter of the man that gets turned into a mirror? He was he got everybody's wishes in the kingdom, and so he'd hoard them, and then he'd give them out sparingly. And then some, whoever was the main character of that, I don't remember who, was like... Wish?
Starting point is 01:25:34 Yeah, wish. Everybody should get a wish, you know? And he's like, I don't like that! And then he turns into a mirror. The other stuff happens, but that's where it's at. And it's supposed to be a culmination of all, there's like hints towards a whole lot of Disney stuff in it. Because it's like, well, this is the world that like inspired a whole lot of different elements. But it's just... shit.
Starting point is 01:25:57 How did he gain the ability to know who was the fairest of them all? Is that in Wish? I think you can ask him whatever. He's just guessing. He's not all seeing. I don't know. Yeah, he was just a bloke. Of the people I've seen walk past this mirror, because I don't really get around a lot. Yeah, that's right. If you could put me in a shopping trolley and wheel me around the town,
Starting point is 01:26:19 I'll have a look and then I'll give you an objective opinion about that. But even then, that's a guy to say that isn't it? That's true isn't it? Yeah. Yeah. What for balance they should have in the trolley, they should have the magic mirror and then a really drunk woman who's just been at a nightclub. They'll be like, you're so beautiful.
Starting point is 01:26:36 Oh, you're so beautiful. She should push the trolley. I think so. Yeah. That's great. I think we've just punched up the movie. And punch down. We do a lot of punching. Yeah, that's great. I think we've just punched up the movie. And punched down. We've done a lot of punching.
Starting point is 01:26:46 Yeah. Mostly me. Anyway, Matt, sorry to hear all of that. No, I'm glad. You've saved me a couple of hours, I guess. So Matt, just to reiterate with clearer audio, your shows. Yes. So yeah, in Melbourne doing a show called Bad Boy.
Starting point is 01:27:02 It's a stand-up show. Just about being a bad boy. And it a stand-up show. Just been a bad boy Yeah, and it's funny for all those sort of reason people probably don't know because people know Matt It does a good riff on do go on his stand-ups very good. It's very very nice I saw you record your one of your live shows that you and Dave Warnock He did back-to-back recordings your live shows at the same time. Yes Back-to-back two microphones. Yeah, yeah, and I lost the toss. He got to face the time. Yes, back to back to back to back to microphones. Yeah. Yeah. And I lost the toss.
Starting point is 01:27:27 He got to face the audience. I'm facing the back wall. But very funny stuff. I'm watching this and I'm like, damn, that's good at stand up. So I think people should go. Excellent. Appreciate that, Mace. And yeah, listen to the Do Go On podcast if they like to hear about stories of, you know,
Starting point is 01:27:43 Star Wars, But others. Yeah there's others. Well some of your Mesa's done all sorts of like Marvel history and Yeah yeah yeah. Batman. Superman. Bill Finger. Bill Finger. You do a lot of murders and mysteries. Yeah this week's one out at the moment is about the New York zodiac killer.
Starting point is 01:28:03 Yeah I saw that yeah yeah. It's pretty good it's a good out Reese Nicholson's guest on it. Oh, nice. And it's I told the story is a little boss, but it was beautifully told. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Did Reese say that also? Yeah, Reese said that. Yeah. I had David Fincher, the director of the movie Zodiac called in and he said,
Starting point is 01:28:20 you did it better than me. Yeah. And I'm famously fastidious. Yeah. But you didn't. I do a hundred takes every scene and you did it in one. That's wrong. Well, you know what he because this is a story it's basically I mean, this is a spoiler that I revealed 10 minutes into the episode, but it's for a little bit though, like this is the same zodiac killer but as a copycat, like 16 years after they stopped hearing about the Californian zodiac. So I think maybe
Starting point is 01:28:45 Fincher could do a sequel. Yeah. A second zodiac. Yeah. I didn't know there was a second zodiac. Zodiac in New York. That's a zodiac. Classy. Zodiacs.
Starting point is 01:28:55 Dost. Yeah. Dostiac. Dostiac. Why are we getting further away from it? I think we got it right. Sometimes you got to go too far to know where to come back to. How about this? Zodiac three. Oh yeah. And then everyone's running around looking for zodiac too. That's right. Yeah. come back to. That's right. How about this Zodiac 3? Oh yeah. And then everyone's running around looking for Zodiac 3.
Starting point is 01:29:07 That's right. The very recent one. We tricked him. That's really good. Yeah. Yeah and then who knew it's another weekly podcast. I know you're on the 100th episode. Mace has been on a bunch.
Starting point is 01:29:16 I would say a lot of fun. Whoa! What does Reese Nicholson say? Yeah, really pretty good. Nice. Reese has never mentioned it. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 01:29:27 Gonna record a bunch of episodes coming up with comedy festival guests from around the place. Incredible. Bit of fun. Yeah, sounds lovely. Do you like you like fun? I know you do. I do like fun.
Starting point is 01:29:39 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You are okay with fun. It depends on the fun. Yeah. Anyway, thank you so much, Matt. Thanks so much for having me. And come back. So good to be back. Yeah. With the fun. Yeah. Anyway, thank you so much, Matt. Thanks so much for having me. And come back. So good to be back with the boys. That's right.
Starting point is 01:29:48 And the dog. Grab a beer on your way out, yeah? Yeah, is that all right? Cool. The classic one was, Letters, oh letters, we love you. Some letters, they're only a day away. Now they're here right now, we're gonna do letters.
Starting point is 01:30:04 James, you have the vacant stare of a man for whom it is past your bedtime. Oh, I thought that was it. No, you have the vacant stare of a man. You've got the vacant stare of a man. Every man I've ever met in the modern era. It's true. Just staring, just looking and staring. All of us looking.
Starting point is 01:30:17 That's right. Not looking, staring. Yeah. This is a letter segment of the show. If you don't want to reach the show, it's simple. You can go email Mason. We can plan a plantapod at gmail.com that's so true give it short yeah keep it simple we're simple men we're simple men we see a short email we
Starting point is 01:30:31 go yes we're simple men living in complicated times quite frankly it's overwhelming yeah we like that we like the Hemingways of our day I think we're like the Hemsworths of our day we're like we've got a fitness app yes and a shotgun it's $19 a week and we have a shotgun. That's right. Just call us the Hemingway's worths. We're very masculine but we're sensitive about it but we have a shotgun. So look out.
Starting point is 01:30:56 Yeah, look out. Look out. Or if you go to the Planet Broadcasting Great Mates Facebook group, there's always a thread there every week. That's so true. What do you got for us this week, Nick Mason, Hemsworthington? Here's an email from Sierra. What's up guys thread there every way. That's so true. What do you got for us this week Nick Mason Hemsworthington? He is an email from Sierra. What's up guys greetings from Florida? Whoa hello I was wondering if you guys heard anything about the Rick if I wonder if I was wondering if you guys
Starting point is 01:31:16 Recent updates on the live-action He-Man movie. Oh, yeah casting set photos, etc I know you guys aren't terribly excited for it But I would love to hear more of your thoughts on the update since my favorite actor is playing the titular role. Oh that dude, whatever his name is. Nicholas Galantis is his name. Correct, there's that teaser poster, I don't know if you've seen that. I haven't seen it. He's holding a sword, looks pretty good.
Starting point is 01:31:34 Oh I have seen that. It's- Alison Brie is Evelyn, who's, I think mad at arms is Idris Elba, I like that. Oh that's a good idea. So yeah, it's also one of those things where a team- They're like, he's good at standing near a thing. He is. With's a good idea. So yeah, I it's also one of those things where it's like he's good at standing near a thing He is with a sword exactly armor and stuff So one of those ones where like it's also it's set on earth initially and then it's like hey, man
Starting point is 01:31:51 You gotta get whisked away. Yeah, so it's shades of the master the universe movie from back in the day there I all I've seen is he's this is some of it said in England Maybe because there's this there's some set photos and he's walking down the street he's wearing a pink shirt yeah great he's Adam and then he's being bothered by the the Bobbies yeah so I only know him from the movie bottoms where he's the yeah the jock that's good I like him but he's also in the craft legacy that's in Cinderella 2021 I haven't seen that, but I have seen that Bottoms movie that I did like. I think it's fun. Um, yeah, this could work potentially.
Starting point is 01:32:31 I think this is being, probably being made by people who remember the original and are probably of roughly our vintage. And they're like, we need to do a version that is cost effective. Self-aware. I reckon maybe a little bit Barbie-h. Yeah in the self-aware sense I've been probably truer to the original cartoons I hope they do a bit where like they do the human things theme song and then there's a moment always in the theme somewhere It goes human
Starting point is 01:32:54 Yeah, I don't want that be good. That's and whatever. I'm just gonna leave this. Yeah, so if that happens in the first 10 seconds You're gonna leave him man. That's all you're gonna need. Yeah, I hope there's one of those weird dragon Walker. Yeah We put all the people in it. Yeah. Yeah, and it just sort of Just got dog legs down the road or whatever. I think they'd be fun Yeah, cool. I got you know what I know Sierra like the game company said we're not I wouldn't say I'm not unjazzed for it. Yeah, so I'm so you know, oh Just let those fucking skeleton So we're not I wouldn't say I'm not unjust for it. Yes. I'm so you know, oh Leto's fucking scalator That'll do it
Starting point is 01:33:31 But you know, we'll see yeah, maybe that's right Mason some Brian He says do you think the X-Men appearing in Avengers doomsday are going to be the original Fox verse our version of date from? Days of future past or another variant universe also do you think they'll give them more colourful comic actor costumes since Deadpool and Wolverine show that the yellow and blue works? I mean, now's the time. To answer your questions in order, they're going to fudge it. It's going to be the best thing. They're just going to be like, yeah, we're from, you recognise the actors. We're from X-Men.
Starting point is 01:33:59 We're from X-Men. And I think they probably will lean towards the more colourful costumes. I don't think James Marsden is going to have the yellow briefs put him on him but put him on him God damn on put him on him. Yeah, I think they will be more colorful and then they're gonna see how people react to that And when they do the MCU reboot X-men, yeah, they will put them they will they will they'll put them they put them somewhere Yeah, we're okay. Well, they might just bring them into the MCU and be like, these are you guys now. Agreed. Until you die. Yeah. So yeah, I would say more so, yes. But like, even like the Gammon outfit is not like, crazy. Yeah, no true. You know, it's accurate, but it's not like, you know. Yeah, it's not crazy. Oh, yeah. So something, you know, yeah, something like that. I think if you hit people with nostalgia, plus also comic as your costume. Why does Gammon've got a proper x-men costume What do you think he's doing? It's a great question. Why does he have what?
Starting point is 01:34:49 Where did he initially get the face sock and then like because it's trench coat and then like really tight Black leggings and like a purpley pink. Yeah thing with a with a robot collar Where'd he get that? Would he get it himself? Probably seems like he found all the different pieces. Maybe somebody threw him the collar in New Orleans during one of those raucous parties they have. Gambit Origins. Let's see it please. Even though we sort of did. But let's see it again. Yeah, what do you think Mason about the next letter? I'll tell you what I think. Yeah, it's from Zachary. He says, Hey, mates, my family, my family has a long standing tradition that someone else must name your car. I have had
Starting point is 01:35:34 I've had a 2007 Prius for a couple of months now. And no one has stepped up to name it for me. So I want to open up to you to it is silver has 450,000 kilometers on it. And I'm planning to add green racing stripes to it. Thanks in advance. Love the show Zachary. I think you should call it the silver scarab. And you have to put the lisp in. And you can't shorten it. Can't say this is the silver scarab. You can't say it's a scarab. You can't rush over it. This is the silver scarab. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah
Starting point is 01:36:09 No, okay, that's a good one. How could I something about that? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, and if it was I what's the with this stripe? You gotta say it's my race. Oh, what if you know actually, you know what you have to say? It's the stripey silver scarab But you have to have such the bird. And then you have to say 450,000. In a priest. Yeah, regular voice. You said that in the regular voice. That's in the night.
Starting point is 01:36:34 Yeah. Fantastic. Anyway, rules are rules. That's what you do. As far as I can tell you have to name it that now. The stripey silver scarab. This is your rule. This is your rules and we're following your rules.
Starting point is 01:36:46 Thank you. Zachary. Zachary. This is from, Joshy says, what's your favorite horrors of all time and what do you think have been the best ones from the last 10 years or so? I think most of mine are from the last 10 years or so. Well Sunshine's a semi horror movie in that part. It follows is great getting a sequel and speaking of
Starting point is 01:37:05 MAKER Monroe she was in a movie called Watcher and she's in Long Legs and she's in Long Legs What Long Legs is good, but she's in a movie called Watcher where she thinks she's being watchered. Oh, yeah by Watchers. Fucking awesome. It's really good. It's Watcher. There's also a movie that came out recently called The Watchers. That's different. No, we watched that. We watched that. No, we watched that we watched it I don't know. We saw it together didn't I I saw it they live in the woods. Yeah, I didn't say that I saw it. It's Shyamalan's daughter, but not the one who does music the other one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Watch watcher. It's good. All right, the descent doesn't like 2007. Yes Cabin in the woods. Yeah, that's right. Trying to Busan good talk to the hand. That's a good one
Starting point is 01:37:45 Good one anything else Mason. Those are the horror movies. I Reckon the Shining sequel that was good. Oh, yeah, dr Slate I reckon if you just go back and watch and listen to our the podcast of the last few years Yeah, I've enjoyed I've thoroughly enjoyed pretty much every horror movie the ones that we've covered for this Yeah, this and like, you know the one where the woman has a guy on the back of her face. Oh, yeah. Frickin... It's a frickin guy on the back of my face. Not Maleficent, but Evelyn. Yeah. Is that what it's called? Yep. That is a spoiler for that movie. It still works. You figure it out pretty quick.
Starting point is 01:38:19 That's right. In watching that movie. I think it's just because, you know, they are, they, horror movies remain flying in the face of modern movie making, because it's just a dumb idea and 10 grand. Yeah. For a lot of them. And it's just like, you know, more than that now. So like just, you know, you don't need $100 million, you need a good idea and somebody and a fake head on your back of your head. And a good idea is a good idea always. That's so true, isn't it? Forever. Whatever that quote is.
Starting point is 01:38:44 That's right. Got another one, Mason? I do. Who's this one from? This one Connor. Zachary? No. Hi there. My name is Connor. In June last year, James and Mace have very kindly wished me happy birthday on the popular five star rated weekly planet podcast. You're welcome. Thanks to my great mate Tom. After some back and forth, they debated also wishing a happy birthday to Tom but quite rightly refused. They speculated as to whether Tom would survive to see his next birthday and I'm delighted to be able to inform the boys that Tom is alive and well and it's his birthday on Tuesday, the first of April. I would love it if the big Aussie blokes who wish Tom a very happy birthday and congratulate him on being a bloody great
Starting point is 01:39:19 mate. No. Can we say yeah? Can we not? I think no again. I agree. Yeah, thanks. again. I agree. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:28 I would also- You can have a happy birthday. Yeah, but we're not wishing that for you. No. We don't wish anything. We don't wish you harm. I'm not a fucking genie. That's right.
Starting point is 01:39:36 Exactly. Yeah. We can't control the winds of fate. No. Can we? No. Yeah. But I'm just saying second year in a row, No, we will not wish him a happy birthday.
Starting point is 01:39:49 I would also appreciate if anyone listening could give the podcast a five-star rating on their podcast app of choice. Yeah, you can do that. Cheers, lads, Connor. Because that's not a wish. Yeah. That's a physical action you can take. Exactly. Yeah. And I understand that this is clearly some sort of bribe.
Starting point is 01:39:57 Agreed. Because there are only two men in this story and they can only give us five stars twice maximum. Yeah. And he's hoping that this will tip us over in wishing Tom Tom Perth a happy birthday. But again, try again next year. Tom Perth. Tom Perth. Tom Perth. Yes. Okay. Great. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, we push it away. Nice try Trump. Nice try Trump. Better like next year. Try again in a year. We'll be here.
Starting point is 01:40:27 We'll be here. Maybe you won't. Good luck. I got one here, Maces. My last one from Danny who says, why do you boys often see movies separately? Is it a scheduling issue? The only thing I can think of would be worse than having to go to a theater and sit through a Morbius or a Red One and having having to sit through it alone seems absolutely dreadful since you're both required to see these movies for the pod
Starting point is 01:40:49 Why don't do your do with your best mate? Well after my best mates at work my best mate Joe. Yeah, I got you guys You got me. It's true It's true. Um, I don't care. No, I will sit in a movie by myself doesn't bother me at all I think a lot of people, you know I still sort of hung up on the idea of like everybody's gonna see me Go into the movie theater alone. Yeah, look at this guy. I'm well past yeah No exactly and you that have that is a maximum of like two minutes, and then the lights go down Yeah, and also I'm looking around when I'm saying the movie. Yeah, everyone's weirder than me Absolutely 10 a.m. On a fucking Thursday
Starting point is 01:41:24 To you, but I'm half as weird as the both of you individually. So yeah, it's fine. You say something to me, I'll say something to you. That's right. You know what I mean? I know exactly what you mean. But also we don't live near each other. No, that's true.
Starting point is 01:41:39 We occasionally will see a movie. What did we see? We went to the theatre for something not that long ago. Yeah, was it good? I can I remember. Yeah, I think it was It's great for us. Yeah, I think that's when we're on break. Yeah, like let's hang out Yeah, and what are we gonna? I don't see a movie. That's true. Yeah, see a movie. Mmm. So yeah, that's where we're at Um, but yeah, also, you know, we we get out all the you know, the the opinions. Yeah, so yeah It's sometimes all fair. So yeah, it's
Starting point is 01:42:05 sometimes all fair. But yeah, I mean, all you have to do is just delay that. You change the venue from in the car park afterwards delayed gratification to the podcast studio. That's right, which we have put inside a car park. Correct. So you know, there's a direct tunnel from the the exit of the theater, the emergency exit. That's right. Which we push through. Yes, that's right the alarm off correct Yeah, yeah, but I again I think if you want to see a movie be like I already knows busy or whatever
Starting point is 01:42:33 Just say man, it's fine. It's cool. We don't mind get a popcorn get a boysenberry choc-tob. Mmm. Mmm if you want Yeah, it's very expensive Nice. It's true. Is there you got another one? I got one more email James. This is from Jameson. Jameson like the drink? Yep. Heineken. Yes. Jameson Heineken, which is the classic combination of drinks. It's true. I call it a Jameson Heineken bomb. Drop a bottle of Jameson into a bottle of Heineken? No, you drop a Heineken bottle into a shot of Jameson.
Starting point is 01:43:06 Okay. Just drop the bottle. Sounds good. You scoop up whatever shattered remains. Yeah. Put it in your mouth. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:15 It's called a bomb primarily because of all the damage it does to you. What were you going to say? Because of all the bleeding. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Anyway, Jameson says, gentlemen, I'd like to thank you for introducing your new segment two weeks ago This is bombing, but you should see it so we won't spoil it yet
Starting point is 01:43:28 You're of your black bag and that segment was perfect It was just enough to tell me why I should see it but little enough that were plenty of surprises my wife And I had a delightful adding to the cinema our first in seven years Whoa when you review something like Craven the hunter? I enjoy your spoilery banter because I know that if I ever accidentally watch it on an airplane knowing the plot won't reduce my enjoyment. But I'm very thankful that you protected Black Bag and despite what seems like a constant onslaught of movie marketing in the US were the first to tell me about it. I look forward to catching more
Starting point is 01:43:56 undiscovered gems that you feel compelled to champion. And we look forward to letting you. That's right. Yeah no that's very kind. We're not gonna wish you a happy birthday. No. You know what? Happy birthday. yeah, happy birthday to you and your wife. Hope you have a lovely couple of days. How do you get spoiled? You deserve it. Yeah, that's right. You absolutely deserve it. What a legend Mason What was the question? Yeah, we should do that more. Yeah, or just make them regular episodes Yeah, yeah, have a fun, but we're doing minecraft next week so yeah, but it's also difficult because it is a movie that
Starting point is 01:44:30 Luckily this the trailer doesn't spoil a lot No, it really does like and when you think of a big blockbuster movie when you think of a Marvel or Disney or what? Have you I'm thinking about it So much of that is in the the trailer and really even when you get into spoiler territories the majority of it is not really the trailer and really even when you get into spoiler territory is the majority of it is not really Yes. so much of a spoiler so much so you know it is a certain it is only a certain type of movie that we can do that for I think but anyway go see Black Bag.
Starting point is 01:44:53 Is it? If you haven't. It's still in my local cinema so. Is it? Yes. Where do you live? On the moon. Yeah. Is that true? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:01 Great. You've said that yourself we don't live near each other. No. Yeah. But I also live on the moon. What? I live on the You've said you've said that yourself. We don't live near each other But I also live on the moon. I live on the dark side of the moon Oh, yeah, okay. Do you live on the dark side of the moon? Yeah, I live on the dark side of the moon It's still pretty big though. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. You live in the Sea of Tranquility bit? Yes. Yeah me too We should go to the movies more. Name another part of the moon. The Sea of The bit where Tintin went. Okay. okay he went there I'll pay that I guess that's right when he's with his red rocket I remember the red rocket I don't
Starting point is 01:45:30 believe it though yeah are you anymore is that the show you go to the moon hoights as opposed to the boys on earth that we normally go to the moon village yeah it's a pain in the ass yeah now that's the whole show James wow thank you so much for listening we absolutely absolutely appreciate it. Thank you. Getting late. Yes, that's true. Thank you to everybody who suffered through some probably terrible audio, which would have been much worse if our friend Rob Collings hadn't fixed it. That's right. And thank God for the backup, Mason. We actually used it.
Starting point is 01:45:57 We actually used the backup. And it worked! What a world. Yeah. What a world. My God. What a world. Huge thanks to Collings for fixing that as well. And of course, thank you to Matt Stewart for coming by.

Starting point is 01:46:40 More like a small sandwich these days, I'm all right. But after all of that, they will force you to watch Morbius again. You can watch them without, you can relish them without watching Morbius. So just be aware as fun as they are and as funny as they are, there are downsides. This one's from a shrugging emoji who says, love the podcast. Been a weak proponent listener for three years now, but it isn't as good as talk tour. Wow, which is back by the way. Is it?
