Starting point is 00:00:02 Welcome back everybody to another episode of the weekly planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James also known as Mr. Sunday with me is always my co-host Nick Mason. That's right. Nicholas Crisp Can Opening Mason. I'm here. That's what's on my birth certificate. Don't steal my identity. I might? No, don't.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Okay. What are you up to? I'm recording a podcast. Oh yeah. You're your license on you? For a podcast recording. Can I see it? Your driver's license.
Starting point is 00:00:31 No, you can't see my driver's license. I just want to look at it for a minute. I don't think you've got your camera. You've got your phone camera out ready to film something. Yeah, I want to get a selfie with it. It's fun. That would be fun, actually. People are doing it.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Yeah, that would be good. People are doing it. That's the new greatest trend. Get out there. Get yourself with your friend's identification. Give it to the companies. Absolutely. Give it to all the corporations.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Please do. Well, speaking of Mason, big corporation makes a big movie this week. Hell yeah, bro. I know I don't agree with that. But, you know, that's right. You know where art intersects with commerce? Not on my watch. No, thank you.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Not having it? I'm not having it. Jog on, mate. Oh, you want to make a movie that is artistically important and makes money? Get out of here. Yeah. Keep moving. I agree.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Don't even look me in the eye. Nolan, you dog. That's right, because we're talking about the Odyssey. If you don't want to skip to that, you can because Rob Collings who edits this, says time codes below. It is a sterling job. He really does. He's the Christopher Nolan, I think, of editing this podcast. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Yeah. He probably is. Scarf on, editing software on, let's go. British-ish. British-ish, we think. Yeah, ish. Ish. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:40 We're also going to talk the passing of Sam Neal. Aw. We're going to talk about some casting rumors. Hooray! We're going to talk about some God of War mishaps. Oh. Yeah. And then trailers for a few things, including a starting production date thing for the Lord of the Rings,
Starting point is 00:01:56 the hunt for Golan. Digger. Which you have some issues with. Yeah, I do. Wow. Digger with Tom. there's a conspiracy. I didn't say this.
Starting point is 00:02:03 You, no, I didn't say that. You gave off the vibe that you think there's a conspiracy regarding the opening first few moments of filming. That was not my intended vibe. The hunt for Golem, okay. Tom Cruise's latest movie, Digger. Digger. And a production start for the Batman part two, which gives us a little clue as to what
Starting point is 00:02:20 Batman's going to look like, mostly the same. Giving Blue Steel. Giving Blue Steel. So that's all very exciting, I think. I think we're weak. Let's start here with sad news, though. Sam Neal has passed away at age 79. People would no doubt know him probably most famously for Jurassic Park 1, but also 3 and 6.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Yes. But famously 1. Jurassic Park 1, Jurassic Park 3. Jurassic Park, Jurassic bugs. Hmm. Big bugs. Yeah. Big-ish.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Big-ish, yeah. There's also, I mean, he's been in such incredible things. Yeah, well, what I was going to say is it. He was Merlin. He was Merlin. He was Merlin. He was a telemovie movie. It's better than you think.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Merlin telemovie. And then there was a sequel to that a few years later. What I thought was very sort of heartwarming this week is the outpouring of tributes from all sorts of different corners of the entertainment world because there's people who love him for the Jurassic Park movies and some more family-friendly stuff but all like the horror subreddits and stuff
Starting point is 00:03:14 were like, you know... Oh my God, Event Horizon. Well, Event Horizon, he's the Antichrist in Oman 3. He's in the mouth of madness, which is the John Carpenter... I haven't seen them. It's the H.B. Lovecraft Eldridge. Choro kind of one.
Starting point is 00:03:29 And, you know, he's in dead calm with Nicole Kidman. Yes, that's right. He's in death in Brunswick. He's in death in Brunswick. Yeah, a few years ago, he got cancer and he recovered from cancer. But in that period where he was recovering, he wrote an autobiography called Did I Ever Tell You ever tell you this, which is on Spotify, if you want to listen to the audiobook. Does he do the voice?
Starting point is 00:03:49 Yes. Yeah. The voice of Sam Neal. He does do the voice of Samuel. Good. But he was born in Northern Ireland, and then his family moved to Christchurch in New Zealand when he was Seven. Yeah, seven.
Starting point is 00:03:59 And then he wanted to become an actor, but New Zealand didn't really have a film industry to speak of. Yeah. And it doesn't now, because they destroyed it. It got eaten by Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings destroyed it. But then New Zealand made their first, like, full feature film in years called Sleeping Dogs, which is sort of like... Oh, like the video game. Not at all like the video game.
Starting point is 00:04:18 It's sort of like New Zealand's Mad Max. So it's like... And when did Mad Max come out? 79? So it predates Mad Max. But it's like... It's like the original Mad Max. where it's like a dystopian society that's crumbling,
Starting point is 00:04:30 but it hasn't collapsed yet. Okay, right. Yes, 79, yeah. So he's in that, and then he was in my brilliant career, which is the Australian movie, the Gillianne Armstrong movie. He's the love interest.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Oh, it's 77. That was before, that was pre-Mad Max. That's what I'm saying, yeah. I thought you said it came after. Oh, so Mad Max stole from this. Not really. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:04:47 They're very different. I can't believe Mad Max did this to us. Come on, man. I can't believe. I mean, it is a disgrace. Mel Gibson has done this to us. I can't believe Mel Gibson and Dr. Emmett Brown.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Yeah, I can't believe they've done that. What's the director of George? George Miller. George Miller, there we go. But yeah, he's, if you are in Australia, if you want to go to the SBS, they've got my brilliant career. I'll do a VPN. Yeah, yeah, I'll do a VPN.
Starting point is 00:05:10 They're at Death in Brunswick, which is a great Australian movie, like, some very small budget from early 1990 or something like that. Yeah, yeah, about then. It's got a bunch of stuff. And yeah, just like... There's also, the people who made the castle, which is one of the great Australian comedies. The Dish. The Dish is a follow-up to that.
Starting point is 00:05:25 It's about receiving a transmission. from the moon from the first. Yeah, so there's a place in Australia called Parks and they have a radio telescope or they did and it's about their role in the space race. It's really good. It's a really good movie. Patrick Warburton, Puddy is in it as well as like the American representative who's popped in Australia. That's really good as well.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Hunt for the Wilder people. Hound of the Wilder people. Like 10 odd years ago. Great movie. My kids love that movie. Kids in general love that movie. 100%. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:56 So his ex-wife and journalist, you know, Laura Tingle. Oh, yeah. She spoke about him saying he'd been fighting various forms of cancer for at least five years intensively. He'd had a lot of chemo and a lot of immunotherapy and thankfully it had finally cleared him of the blood cancer that he'd had, but it left him pretty compromised in terms of his immune system and I think his poor body sort of got a bit exhausted. So he's been pretty sick for the last couple of weeks and everybody who loved him
Starting point is 00:06:20 have been willing him on from near and far, but I think it was just a bit too much to recover from one more time. Because if you look at his Instagram, and I don't know whether these were filmed recently, but there's ones from like June, you know, like videos of him. Yeah, yeah. Up and about. So, yeah, really, that sucks. Like, you know, sometimes someone evil, truly evil dies, not to name any names.
Starting point is 00:06:43 And that's good. Yeah. But then sometimes people like saying, you know, but as far as Ramon I can tell, no one has a bad word to say about him. Just love being on his farm and losing money on his vineyard. Absolutely. Yeah, a lot of conservation work as well. You know, like he was anti-mining, which of Australia, the whole economy is built on mining.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And by that, I mean, it goes, they dig up everything and give it to, like, one person. I don't remember this. Apparently, the Premier of Jurassic Park, he sat next to Princess Diana. Oh, yeah. And he revealed in an interview that his son was next to him, and he revealed that his son couldn't stop farting during the interview. I don't know if you see this. You've seen this interview. And he's like, you know, it was this royal premier in London.
Starting point is 00:07:22 It was a fortuitous occasion. My son was sitting on the other side. It was kind of unfortunate because once it starts getting exciting, about 45 minutes in, he was so carried away with things. He's about 10 years old at this point. He starts to fart unreasonably. Unreasonably. It wasn't that audible.
Starting point is 00:07:37 It was very smelly, and it was sort of a draft through the cinema, and it was all drifting in the princess's direction. But in the interview, Jeff Goldman went on to say, I've heard that story so many times, and it's amazing the extent he will go to to blame the boy. Oh, yeah, no, just great film. Great filmography, just, you know. Have we missed anything?
Starting point is 00:07:58 Probably not. He's got that James Bond audition actually from the 80s. Oh, yeah, he was almost James Bond. I mean, I don't know if he was almost James Bond, but... Yeah, he was closer than us. Yeah, he was a little bit closer than us. Yeah. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Yeah, there you go. It's really interesting, varied career. Yeah. But yeah, check out some of those old things, if you haven't. He's also in Peter Rabbit. He's also in Peaky Blinders. He is in Peaky Blinders. That's right.
Starting point is 00:08:21 God, he gets Peaky Blinded. I hope he got so much money for Jurassic Park Bugger. Jurassic Park. Oh my God, me too. Yeah. Because it's a bad movie. 100%. But he's not.
Starting point is 00:08:29 That's true, yeah. Bad in that movie or any movie. Big loss. Okay, Mason. Let's get... Big loss, sorry. Epic loss. So, we should stop.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Don't you think? No. Just this whole thing? Yeah. Maybe, yeah, maybe. Sometimes you just have to, you know? And then you regret it. So this is a segment called casting.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Rumors and casting Trumers because some of these things are true. Okay, casting Truman's? Trumman's show remake. But it's been done already. Oh, do you want to bring it back? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah, remake. I think they're going to base it around that weird video Jim Carrey did about wanting to marry Emma Stone.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Terrific. Do you have seen that video? I have seen that video, yeah. Yeah. So we hadn't met, to be clear. It wasn't like he was dating Emma Stone and he was like, maybe I'll marry her. No, no, no, no, no, no. He'd never met her in movies.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Yeah. I wanted to marry her. All right. Even though he's like a lot older. A lot older. Absolutely, yes. It doesn't matter. It matters.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Don't do that. So yes, if there is a message from this at all. That's right. So Adam Driver, his name has been bounced around a lot last week for some roles in X-Men, including Magneto or Mr. Sinister. Or maybe he's not going to be one or either of those guys all he is. Maybe he's going to be every guy. Maybe this is going to be X-Men, new universe of X-Men, everybody's Adam Driver.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I don't think he should do X-Men. And I don't mean because he'd be bad. I just don't think he needs to. And he just shouldn't. That's what I think. But sometimes you want a guy to take a big paycheck so they can do some stuff that's interesting later. I mean, we'll probably talk about this later, but you know.
Starting point is 00:10:04 He did that already. He already did Star Wars. He did Star Wars, it's true, yeah. But, you know, he's got bills to pay. I guess he knows. People have talked about, I saw a lot of people talk about this week, obviously Pattinson because he's in the Odyssey. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:17 That, you know, the fact that he could take, you know, he took Twilight and a bunch of other, like, you know, paycheck movies that he liked being in. And he's subsequently done just a bunch of weird stuff that he finds interesting. So, you know, that's... I also think it's interesting that he'll happily talk about Twilight. Like, he's not ashamed of it at all, you know. Nor should he be. Nor should he be.
Starting point is 00:10:36 Those are great movies. Agreed. So, yeah, also, Kaylee Spaney might be rogue. That's a name that got thrown up. I don't hate that at all. Sure. We'll see. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I guess the only X-Men character they're keeping his Wolverine. They're keeping Hugh Jackman. and there's been the turf everyone else. Okay, yeah, great. I'm assuming. Old Wolverine, old Wolverine, there is. He's old, isn't he? Look how old he is.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Wow. But the adamantium's keeping him young. And everybody has to be like, mm-hmm, yep. Well, the adamantium took all my collagen, but it died my hair brown. The adamantium leached out on my buckle fat, and you can't get that back. Uh, it's... The adamantium was leached out of my buckle fat, and you can't get that back. Adamante was pulling my face back rapidly.
Starting point is 00:11:22 I don't think he's had that done. No, not yet. No. It's going to get that. What are they called? The Deep Plane Facelift? You know an awful lot about the concept of the deep plane facelift. Dude, you should see my Instagram.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It's insane. I bet it is. Because that's the one where they've done your entire face, right? Yeah, it's like. Who's had it done? Brad Pitt had it. And did Lindsay Lois. Oh, Lindsay Lohan did one.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Salacious gossip time. Yeah. Lindsay Lohan had it, right? Because she showed up at a premiere of something and people were like, whoa. What the fuck? Did she step out of a time portal, they said? Yeah, sometimes it's done wrong,
Starting point is 00:11:55 like whatever Bradley Cooper did, or the guy from Maroon 5. Adam Levine. Adam Levine. And Adam Driver. Wow. Yeah. Anyway, here's some trumers.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Adam driving to the plastic surgeon. I don't think you need to. Don't do it, Adam Driver. Don't do it even though it's in your name. Leave that big beautiful face. Even though, based on your ID, which I've seen in that selfie. photo. Your name is Adam Driver to the plastic surgeon's office. That's your full legal name.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Adam Driver already figured out his head. He grew his hair over his ears. He figured it out a decade ago. That's right. You don't need. That's all you should have done, Bradley Cooper. It's all you should have done. He looks fine. I don't know. I think his face has settled Bradley Cooper's right? I think so too. We're going to talk about him and admit it. I'll just do it out. But it's crazy because people come up to me and go, you, you're like that. His face is normal. His face is normal. He looks so normal. Good. story. People come up. Yeah, people come up.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Well, speaking of, this one's why Nexus point news, Bradley Cooper will apparently take over the lead role in the G.I. Joe film adaptation. Chris Hemsworth was going to be it, and he stepped away. It's probably Duke. Duke. Duke. Duke. Duke. I can see Bradley Cooper as a Duke. He was American sniper, a notoriously bad man. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:13:06 And he was also face. He was face. Yeah, that's true, yeah. And now. How ironic. Now. Wow. And now, Mason. Go on. And now. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Wow. She's called it New Face. Wow. Yeah. Wow. He should be the, you know, there's always the novelty, like Gio Joe characters. He should be baseball mitt. You know?
Starting point is 00:13:28 Why? I don't know. Because of his. His leathery output? Yeah. He's leathery output. Also, let me just say, people should do whatever they want to their face. I agree.
Starting point is 00:13:39 If you're happy, you can go for it. Agreed. You just chisel away your head. I like that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know? I mean, you know, obviously. He's just setting it up for when I do it.
Starting point is 00:13:46 do it. We're setting up from when we when we decide to do some live shows in Turkey and we just come back with shades. We show up bloody, just bloodied scalps. Oh, you got my Instagram feed, I see.
Starting point is 00:14:02 You better look at it. Hey, everyone, great to be here. We're normal. We look normal. We look normal. We're on the podcast. Oh, so many people came up to us, said we look normal.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Danny McBride, who we mentioned is writing this movie. He's going to, to direct it now as well. Good for him. It's his feature debut. He's a big G.I. Joe fan.
Starting point is 00:14:21 Aren't we all? Yes. I love rooms. No. Empty rooms. Yeah, I love empty rooms at the end of Transformers movies. He beat out Max Landis's pitch.
Starting point is 00:14:29 And it's set in that we talked about it last week. These pitch just said, I'm not Max Landis. Yeah. And they went, well, that's true. I didn't make bright. But it's a small town. It's a town that the G. Springfield.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Yeah, but it's a hydra town. Cobra town. Sorry. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow, James. Sorry, a different type of snake creature. Hand over your nerd card and your other forms of identification.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Hand them over. For a selfie. Yep. Yep, hand him over. And this one's a truma, the rap. This is a true rumor is what I say. Yes, his name, I'm terrible of pronouncing it. It's Shola Man.
Starting point is 00:15:06 He plays Blue Beetle. He's a karate kid. The new karate kid. We learned it earlier. Hang on, we're going to do it. We're going to do it right. My accent can't do it. Sholo, Mariduania.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Yeah, there we go. There we go. Who I think is great. And so he played Blue Beetle in the Blue Beetle movie from a few years ago, which is also technically the first DCU movie. Oh, okay, yeah. And also, we know this now because his character is returning in Man of Tomorrow. His character and the actor or just the character?
Starting point is 00:15:35 Sorry, both. Okay. Yes, so he's returning. Okay, good. That's fine. That is great. That is good. That movie.
Starting point is 00:15:42 We can finally figure out what happened to Ted Cord. What did happen to Ted Cord? Who's going to play him as a Jason Bateman? He might be on Salvation, Planet Salvation. Maybe that's where he's broadcasting from. That's where he went from, maybe. Jason Bateman? Jason Batten.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Tadalasu, whatever his name is, he could do it. Because remember there's a vague picture of who is this guy. And whatever. So, yeah. I mean, pretty busy cast, people are also saying for Man of Tomorrow. And I guess a similar thing was said of Superman, but I think it's just putting, like, a lot of movies have a lot of people in them. That's so true, isn't it? And all of these ones are comic book.
Starting point is 00:16:13 And I think you're forgetting a lot of people behind the. camera as well. Oh yeah. The viewers, that's us. We're looking. We're looking. We're looking and watching. And we deserve some credit finally. I think so. And I'm sick of this. I don't want, I don't just want a novelty popcorn bucket. No, that I have to pay for. I want cash. Yeah, cold hard cash. That's right. Yeah. Anyway, this movie might not be good, but I like Superman. Yeah. And I hope Man of Tomorrow, which isn't a Superman movie. It's a, oh, it's not a strict sequel. It's like, it's another thing apparently. Well, good luck convincing the general public. And us. We don't believe you.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Uh, Mason. Hello. I've done some bad God of War news. Yes. Great. Wait, no! Oh, too late. I've already started talking.
Starting point is 00:16:52 This is mate. Can't stop me now. I'm on a roll. Look at me go. I'm riffing. TMZ, Mason. Call me a delicious chicken palm because I'm on a roll. You know?
Starting point is 00:17:03 Yeah, no. Call me another different type of subway sandwich topping. A meatballs. Because I'm on a roll. A meat balls. A meat balls. There we go. I'm going to roll.
Starting point is 00:17:11 Yeah, and the meatball could roll. Mason. Ryan Hurst, who is was playing, was playing Kratos. And he's Thor in Ragnarok, right? His voice? Yeah, sorry, yeah, I thought you meant the movie.
Starting point is 00:17:25 I'm like, and he's also in The Odyssey. He's Tom Holland's mate, Mentor. And you might be like, oh, that's a bit cliche. He plays a character called Mentor. Well, where do you think we got the word mentor from? I actually don't know. I invented it. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yeah, I saw the movie The Odyssey and I'm like, that's pretty good. I'll tell you, I'll have that. That's mine. I'll invent that. Yeah. But yeah, he was the voice of Thor in God of War, Ragnarok. and probably did the mocap. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:46 So, yeah, he got cast as Kratos, and there was that one image revealed. He also can't cut his hair for religious reason, so they've bald capped him. Oh, wow. And the reaction... That's going to get increasingly large that head. Yeah, well, also not necessarily
Starting point is 00:17:57 because he tore his bicep while filming requiring surgery, and it's like a six-month process to get back to where you were. Yeah, right. So production of this were... Just thinking about that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:09 If you've seen a video, that's in my Instagram, where you see a taste here, like, pop off the bow. Don't I like it. You don't have to like it. Oh, like a lamb shank. Yeah, like a lamb shank.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Wow. Tender. Oh. Production was hoping to have him back on set for mid-August, but it's just not going to happen. This is also, they've filmed four episodes of the show already. Oh, okay. And they're shooting Amazon, I think it's Amazon. Yeah, shooting two seasons back to back, 20 episodes in total. But because of this.
Starting point is 00:18:34 They could just call it one season. Couldn't they just release one season? So we're bringing back 20 episodes a season. I think they're doing it. We're the kings of TV now. I think they're doing it because of the kid. Oh, because he's a show. He has to, because if he grows up too fast, they're going to kill him.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Yeah, that's true. Yeah, so they can't have that. Well, they can. They're going to kill him and replace him with a TikTok star. Mm-hmm. Yeah, so they're going to have to recast this guy. They're recasting him. They're starting from scratch again.
Starting point is 00:18:58 So they're filming every, the previous episode. All everything with him in it, I guess. Wow, okay, yeah. Yeah, that so. Which would be most of it because he's the main character. Yeah, absolutely. So this is via deadline. Yeah, he's being recast, which I don't know, I guess they'll bounce to like,
Starting point is 00:19:10 whoever was number two or three on the, yeah, Kratos. And were you two or was I two? I can't remember. Because we were two and three. We were two and three. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Or maybe we were just two together, one on top of each other. Oh, that's true. Yeah. Okay. Big Goro man. Okay. Well, you're going to have to be on the top because I've torn both my biceps. Just two flapping dead arms.
Starting point is 00:19:31 We wish him well. We do. Yeah. He's good in the Odyssey. He's good in the Odyssey. I think he's going to be... I think he'll bounce back, especially after the Odyssey. Because this is horrible.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Yeah. I think he'll probably be under... Undecredited for the Odyssey. Yeah. But he does a good job in anything. Absolutely. So I guess we'll see how this goes. But it's it, I also, and I don't know this, but the fact that they got this far into it.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Yeah. And they're starting from scratch. I don't know, maybe they weren't happy with him for other reasons. Right. This is an excuse. I don't know that. But I don't know. It just seems crazy to me to go, like going back to square one is cheaper than waiting six months.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Yeah. But I guess it is. Or they. They've promised, you know, maybe contracts have been signed and they promised to release it on a certain day or whatever. And so they just have to. Also, he's like 50. So he knows how this recovery is even going to go. But also, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Once he's 52, they can't, you know, they can't use that anymore. Hi, I'm Kratos. I'm 52. I'm Kratos. Exactly. Yeah. So I don't know, because like they obviously couldn't shoot around it or I don't know. They couldn't do that thing where you put your arms by your side and somebody puts their, they're behind you and they put their arms under your underarms.
Starting point is 00:20:43 and they go, look at me. Whoa, I'm eating spaghetti. Yeah. And it's all, you don't even in one arm. Exactly, yeah. You don't even do both. Because he only needs to swing that axe, you know. Exactly, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:54 See where it's out. It's good, Mason. Anyway, maybe he will show up later as Thor or whatever. Maybe. Maybe. You can play another character in this now, but I guess we'll see. If anything, his options are wide open now. That's right.
Starting point is 00:21:05 And good for him. And he doesn't have to wear the stupid white makeup. That's the ashes of his dead family, Mason. That's disrespect for what you said. Yeah, it's stupid makeup. Sorry, stupid. dead ashes from his stupid dead family. He's not even Greek.
Starting point is 00:21:16 Probably, I don't know. Wow. Probably. Wow. I don't know. I just think people, everybody should be Greek. I think that's important to me.
Starting point is 00:21:23 I think that's important to me. Trailers of Hoy Mason. And also, yeah, and also delays but not dismayed. Whoa. Remember this segment? Sort of. Where things are delayed, but don't worry about it.
Starting point is 00:21:33 Don't dismay. Don't dismay. Don't dismay. Because things will turn around. So, uh, the Lord of the Rings, you're fan? I guess. Yep. The Hunt for Gollum.
Starting point is 00:21:41 You're a fan? No. You don't know that There's a start of production video I know Yes Start a production video And rumors are swirling about it
Starting point is 00:21:51 Conspiracies are brewing About this video According to you Well I Okay So it's a tinfoil hat over there No it's not a tinfoil hat Mr turkey tinfoil hat
Starting point is 00:21:59 Mr. Mr. Mr. Goda turkey tinfoil Put it some tinfoil It's a fun gag I guess Because they're like
Starting point is 00:22:06 Oh we're starting production And Andy Circus Walks in In his Gullum rig Yes The only clothes he owns And they're like Who's first?
Starting point is 00:22:14 Who's first up? Who's first to film in this grey room? And they're like, you are, Mr. Andy Circus. And he goes, yes, I am. And then he gets, he gets put, he sits on his mark and he goes down. I'm going. He makes the little thing. And he goes, action.
Starting point is 00:22:28 And we all have a fun time. And they clap at the clapper board. It's good. But you were like, look at this. Look at this. He goes to sit down for one direction. The point of the camera. And they switch to the opposite direction.
Starting point is 00:22:39 But there's no camera there. There's no camera there. So they must have, this is been edited, he said. He said, this is been edited. No, it's not that it was edited. You didn't just be edited. It's made to look like it's in one take and it's not. Which is fine.
Starting point is 00:22:51 It's fine. That's just one of the techniques he's going to employ as director of The Hunt for Gollum. Yeah, well, a lot of people, they don't have a lot of faith in this movie because his last movie was Animal Farm. Well, that was Venom too. Yep. I didn't see Animal Farm. No, but I didn't. I can't speak to it.
Starting point is 00:23:06 But if I could, I don't think it would be positive. But, you know, he second unit directed on The Hobbit. Oh, yes. Wait, no. And I like him. Yeah, me too. I would love this to be good. Me too, maybe it will be.
Starting point is 00:23:22 I mean, this is his, you know, maybe he's doing a venom because, you know, there's the paycheck for that. And then this is coming back to his passion project. Venom 2 was all right for a venom. It's probably, is it one of the best venom movies? I think it's maybe the second best venom movie. It might be right. After Venom one. I'm just thinking about.
Starting point is 00:23:39 It's a perfect, James, it's a perfect logarithmic line scale. Oh, interesting. Exponential line scale. The first one's pretty good and then they get worse. I like his Alfred. Yes, me too. And his claw. And his claw.
Starting point is 00:23:52 Yeah. Well, he was. He exploded, I think. But also, I think I'm the only one who liked this. I liked his Jungle Book movie. Oh. Moogli. Wow.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Did you know that's short for motion capture glee? I didn't know that. His full name's Moogli. Capture League Jungle Book. Oh. It's on his ID. Is it? Ask me how I know.
Starting point is 00:24:13 You took a selfie with it? Yeah, that's right. This is that December 17th of next year. It's a quick turnaround, I guess. Yeah, but it's just all flapping around. It was talking about AI. Yeah, it's just flapping around. Just flipping around.
Starting point is 00:24:24 And then you get the boffins to fix it up, you know? Yeah, yeah, fix this. Did you see also they looked like they used some external stuff? Hard drives. Well, no, you know, they saw the, they're filming outside. Oh, yeah. But some of that looks comp in the background or whatever. Wow, wow, editing.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Conspiracy theories. I mean, I would love it if there were some real locations in this. That would be great, wouldn't it? Some real stuff. Yeah. They're also using AI to DH people. Okay. I don't know what that even means, though.
Starting point is 00:24:50 If it's AI, what does that? What does that mean? I don't know. I mean, at this point, everybody's lumping in AI together either for good or real. They're like, okay, well, you know, because there's been AI that isn't generative AI that isn't stealing other people's ideas. It's just an algorithm that does something. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:05 So, you know. So, George Lucas, I don't. I don't know if he's, this isn't as part of the news, but George Lucas this week was like, oh, I quite like AI or whatever. He was like, it's a new thing and we've got to embrace a new thing. Great, George. Come back and do a Star Wars entirely a generative AI built. You don't have to.
Starting point is 00:25:21 It's all on YouTube. Pay your own money to do it. Which is not much. No, you can do it in five minutes and 50 bucks. It's basically free. Basically free. It's got to burn down a rainforest and drink an entire river. Really good.
Starting point is 00:25:35 That's my Friday night sorted. Oh, what? Glug, glug. Drinking a river. Yep. And burning down a rainforest? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Yes. And you do that on Friday night. Every Friday, light clockwork. Me and the boys. Okay, so I guess that's less weird that it's not just you. No, but then I'm like it, what are you blokes having? You know?
Starting point is 00:25:55 After you've drugged the river. I've drunk the river and burn down the rainforest. What are you black seven? You're like that frog story from the dream time. The frog that drank all the water and all the animals are like, is this guy fucking serious? Yeah. You remember that story?
Starting point is 00:26:06 Yeah, I do remember that. Yeah. And then he vomits all the water up. Yeah. And that's how we got the billabongs or whatever. That's right. And that's my Friday night. Every Friday.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Yes, that's what I'm saying. Yes. It's almost like you don't listen to my cool stories about what I get up to on Friday. It's not that I don't listen. It's just that it seems unbelievable. That's all. Well, that's my life, baby. You can do other things.
Starting point is 00:26:29 You go to a movie. Well, I have. Yeah, you have. Speaking of, the trailer for Digger. Yes. Which is an awful. Tom Cruise doing an awful thing with an awful cat puppet. Correct, yes.
Starting point is 00:26:41 So much of this is awful. This is very Dr. Strange love. Yes, absolutely. And very, it's not Yorgas Lanthamos, but it's that guy. Inoritu. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's got that weird washed out vibe.
Starting point is 00:26:54 Yeah, interesting cast. I don't know what's going on with this. No. So he's caused some sort of disaster or he's on the verge of environment. The world's on the verge of some sort of collapse and it's probably his fault. And he's going to get out there with a big spade and sort it. He's going to do it because he did it and he's got a weird cat and he's doing some Les Grossman as well. A little bit of that.
Starting point is 00:27:12 A little bit of Tropic Thunder. It's time for Tom Cruise to do a weird one. Agreed. He's done a weird one in a while. That's great. I mean, he's always doing a weird one. That's right. But this is on film.
Starting point is 00:27:22 People have captured it intentionally. That's right. Intentionally. So, yeah, this is out October 2nd. I hate that cat. Absolutely. Awful, disgusting cat. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:33 I hate also that it's very obviously not a real cat. And I hate that about it too. Yeah. But I am really looking forward to this. Yeah. Yeah. Will it be good? Who knows?
Starting point is 00:27:42 Probably. Might be a mess. Yeah. I mean, at least it's interesting. That's what I. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. It's interesting and it's not our money.
Starting point is 00:27:49 So let's go. Exactly. They're paying us from behind the camera. That's right. Exactly. Apparently, which is a new thing. Yeah. Yep.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Yep. It's AI. And we've course got a first look at, well, I mean, not the first look at, oh, no, it is. Yeah. The first look at the Batman from the Batman part two. I mean, it was a bit. There was one second of the Batmobile or something.
Starting point is 00:28:08 But that wasn't Batman himself. No, this is Batman himself, the real man. This is a camera test. Turning slow slowly. There's fire probably. I'll be honest, I couldn't really tell that it was different from the previous. Slightly bigger is Batman. It's true, yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:27 Confirmed by director Matt Reeves. And this is where the delays but not dismayes comes in. Oh, yes. This was dated for February. No, sorry, this was dated for Occup. October of next year. Okay. But it's now February of 2028.
Starting point is 00:28:39 2028. That means there's going to be six years between the first one and the second one. Wow. I hate that. Yes. Rob Pat will be 42 when this comes out. Yuck, too old. Which will be nearly the same age as Ben Affleck was when he was old Batman.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Old Batman. Old Batman. Old young Batman. Yes. First year on the job, Batman. You know what is in? Yeah, exactly. You know what's interesting though?
Starting point is 00:29:03 What's that? Because it was originally dated for October 3rd. 2025 and then October 2nd, 2026. That's soon. Then they pushed it to October of 27 and then they pushed it to defend. They thought we wouldn't notice as well. They just changed the year and they were like, no, they won't notice. They'll just go off.
Starting point is 00:29:17 It took me a second to kind of get these dates kind of down. 2028's forever away, you know, a go and away. I don't know what time is. What are you, Doc Brown? Maybe. Yeah. Maybe. So, uh.
Starting point is 00:29:29 Would Doc Brown do this? Gluck, gluck. I'm drinking a river. Gluck, glick. He might. Yeah. I don't think it would. He's a loose unit.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Yeah. So Colin Farrell also is going to be returning as a penguin, Andy Circus as... Gollum. Geoffrey Wright as second Gollum. Gollum in a dress, I think. Yeah, that's right. That's right.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Gollum in a dress going, you-hoo, you-hoo! And Gollum's like, ha ha ha ha ha ha, ha, et cetera, you know. Scarlett Johansson is in it in a mystery role. Mystery role. Could be poison ivy. Could be a regular woman. Yeah, we don't know if this is regular woman universe, like the Dark Night or if it is.
Starting point is 00:30:06 is elevated. Sebastian Stan was rumored to be... Harvey Dent. Harvey Dent, Two-faced part. But then also... He looks like Victor Zax. Yeah, because he's done the shape, head. He's got the build and the shape, head.
Starting point is 00:30:16 And Brian Tyree Henry is now speculated to be Harvey Dent. Yeah, okay. All right, that works. I like him. Yeah, there was some speculation that he was going... That Sebastian Sam was also going to be Harvey Dent's dad or something. Okay. Daddy Dent, Mr. Dent.
Starting point is 00:30:30 So you have a dad? Like a famous... I don't know. No, but that's the whole... It was somebody where I'm like, oh, it's the father of a... own character. I'm like, does that guy get any play in the comic books? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm not sold on this universe as Batman.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Oh, Batman. No, I am. I like him. The Joker. Yeah, right. I don't know if I like that. Also, that guy's sort of reputation's taking a hit. What did he do? I don't know. It was just, he was a bad boyfriend. To one of the pop girlies. Oh, that's right. Wasn't that not true? Salacious gossip time. Was that not true? I think it was true. I don't know. I'll just check, I'll just check with the gals. All right. No, it was true and he's a dog.
Starting point is 00:31:05 These are the gals you go out and drink rivers with? Yep, that's right. But what are they having? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. They're having rivettinis. Yeah, okay, cool. Oh, and you burned out of rainforest.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Absolutely, we did that. I forgot about that part. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Anyway, look forward to this in two and a half years. Two and a half years. I don't want to be that old. What the fuck?
Starting point is 00:31:27 Right? I don't need that. Do I need that in my life being that old? Ugh. Hello, welcome to the weekly pad and we're going to be. You'll be talking about Batman Part 2. I've turned my bicep, but not doing anything with muscles. It just came off.
Starting point is 00:31:43 I turned over too hard at bed and I ripped all the muscles off my body. I'm a dusty old Skellington man. And now it's time for the Batman Part 2. Our opinions are still relevant in 28. What of us is dead. Which one? We'll never tell. Yeah
Starting point is 00:32:06 I hope this ages Exactly like that I hope we sound worse There people People are calling back to it Somebody saved the clip And they're like How do they sound better
Starting point is 00:32:19 In the clip When they're pretending To be old men How are more of them alive In that clip Than they are now All right So should we move in a lot
Starting point is 00:32:27 James Can you can you hear it What James? It's oh no It's the seductive Sounds of the sirens Oh is it
Starting point is 00:32:34 They're calling us They're calling us, and they're trying to lure us with what we want the most. Big movie. It's time for big movie. I love big movie. Don't you want big movie? That's all I want. James, we want big movie.
Starting point is 00:32:51 James, I'm jumping overboard. What? This is a new part of the law. We're recording. We've always been recording on a boat. We've always been recording on a boat. All right, let's sploosh. Let's swim to this big movie.
Starting point is 00:33:05 movie. Yeah, that's sort of a big movie. Big movie. I don't know if you're aware of this Mason or anyone else is, but Tom Cruise has seen the Odyssey and reportedly couldn't stop saying, this is so fucking sick while watching the movie. He's learned a new phrase. He really has.
Starting point is 00:33:18 He's learned a new phrase from a young person, I think. And he was testing it out. So the story I heard was that he wanted to go to see it at the IMAX in a particular place, but his plane was late. So then they gave him a special midnight showing or something like that. And he was like, and we got all the AMC employees. to come in and watch it with me. Come along.
Starting point is 00:33:37 Come along after your nine-hour shift, probably nine, ten hours, you know, cleaning up vomit and popcorn, you know, vacuuming the popcorn out of people's seats or whatever. Absolutely. Cleaning the toilets. Anyway, stick around for another three to four hours with Tom Cruise.
Starting point is 00:33:50 They loved it apparently. Yeah, I would have loved it too. One of the employees said about this, that he absolutely loved it. He was clapping with us all through the third act. He just kept uttering the phrase that was so fucking sick the whole time. He was sitting right behind us throwing little comments
Starting point is 00:34:05 and jokes our way, made an epic movie even better. Wow. Hell yeah. That's how you make an epic movie even better. Hell yeah, brother. He loves movies. I think, you know, normally that would... He's an old man who loves movies.
Starting point is 00:34:15 He is, yeah. Yeah, we could be him. That would ruin, that would ruin my experience. He'd be like, could you shush, please? Shut up. Could you shush? Shut up. A little bit.
Starting point is 00:34:25 We're all trying to... I'm just trying to enjoy the movie, all right? Yeah, big movie. Big movie. Anyway, speaking of the Odyssey... Oh, yeah, we got out of that sticky situation, by the way. Yeah, we did. It turned out, like, the common misconception...
Starting point is 00:34:35 it turned out they were all just endangered seals. So he ran them over with a snowplow. So it's fine. We got out of that one. We did. Yeah. On a budget of $250 million, the opening weekend for this is huge.
Starting point is 00:34:47 It's the third highest for a Christopher Nolan movie ever. Okay. Because that's behind, though, the dark night, the dark night rises, obviously. So it's going to make more 120 million plus in the US. And in other international territories, about 137. Again, could be more. Congratulations to everybody who got an online.
Starting point is 00:35:05 iMac screening opening weekend a lot of them sold out last year i think i went to the imax melbourne website and there was like tickets available for the day that i was going to see it like the thursday and then i blinked and they were gone and i'm like that's fine that's your fault well there's my local cinema has a 70mm print oh it must be nice well they don't they don't show it they just it's just there and you can look at it that must be nice too you can look at the cans you love looking at cans you better believe it mason yes what do you think the story was oh no this is Big story. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:36 Big story. Long movie. Based on a big myth or poem or whatever. Five thousand-year-old poem, good one. One million years old crap. God, God. Ugh, all right. Written with a feather, yuck.
Starting point is 00:35:49 Oh, I'll just lick the tip of my feather and dip it in my ink pot and write an epic poem five thousand years ago. Get over yourself. Lame. Get a job. Get a job, Homer. You're not even the most famous Homer anymore. No. Yeah, embarrassing for you.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Asshole. Anyway, so Odysseus, he went to fight in the Trojan War. But it's been 20 goddamn years, and he hasn't come back. Yeah. And he left his wife behind Penelope. And she's had a son. His son, he's grown up. It's a big week for people who've seen a lot of Greek names written down and never said them aloud.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Oh, yeah. So it's... Mentor. Telemachus. Yes. His son Telemachus is there And he's like, where's me, dad? We can just call him by the actor's names
Starting point is 00:36:38 Yeah, that's true, and we will Yeah Anyway, Matt Damon's been away for 20 years He often is in movies That's true, yeah Also, the Odyssey is 2,800-ish years old Yeah, not 5,000 Just so you know
Starting point is 00:36:50 I knew that, I didn't even have to Google it just now Alright Yeah, sorry, go on Anyway, but he's been away And in the meantime, all these disgusting men Have shown up in Penelope's court And they're all These leathery twats.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Just oily, disgusting men, these freaks. Just be in there and they want Penelope's hand in marriage because they can be the king of Greece. This area of Greece. Yeah, they'll do a 20-year-hang, just to say. 20-hang, they're like, all right, one of us is going to become the king of Greece or whatever. Eventually. And in the meantime, Matt Damon's like, what's he even doing?
Starting point is 00:37:29 He's off somewhere and he's like, I better remember my memories. To remember how A. Dun got here. Mm-hmm. And he does. Yeah. But then in the meantime, Telemachus is like, I'm going to find me, Dad. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:37:38 I'm going to find me, dad. I'm sick of these men. Mm-hmm. I'm sick of men. I'm a boy, and I'm sick of men. That's the last time I'll be a boy. Mm-hmm. I won't be a boy anymore.
Starting point is 00:37:45 I'll be a man. I'll take a big voyage on the sea and I'll be a man. Not that big compared to some of the other voyages. Yeah. That's all I'm saying. Absolutely. Yeah. Anyway, then then he has to, everybody,
Starting point is 00:37:56 Everyone's on a big odyssey, you know what I agree. And we remember Matt Damon's memories. With him. With him, he's there. Non-linearly. Non-linearly, as is the Christopher Nolan tradition. The Chris Triddish. I think there's a lot of comparisons that can be made between this and Oppenheimer.
Starting point is 00:38:14 For one, a guy doing a bad thing and then coming to terms with it. Sure, okay. Yeah. Coming home and stuff. Can you ever come home after you've dropped a nuclear bomb? Easily. Yes. I did it.
Starting point is 00:38:22 Knock, knock. Hello. Honey, I'm home. Saturday morning. I'm back, at a big Friday, as you know, added a little extra spice to it. Absolutely. You would have. I could see how you would do that.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Also, I felt like, like Oppenheim. Went to the ATM, got out $300, bought a thermonuclear bomb. Did you? Dropped it, you know? It's crazy. And the lads were like, boys, boys, boys, boys, boys. You know? Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:38:47 So the first like 30 minutes of Oppenheimer off is quite rapid. Yeah. It's like, this is the world. Get you up a speed. and this is similar. Nolan has to do, Nolan does his building blocks. He builds the world out for a bit,
Starting point is 00:39:00 for a long time. Yep. And then we get in. Just throws a bunch of names and places and settings and that, that all kind of falls into place. Yeah. What do you think in this movie?
Starting point is 00:39:09 I thought it was great. I thought it was great also. I mean, everybody loves it. Yeah. Big surprise. Maybe we're being, maybe we're being fooled
Starting point is 00:39:18 by the big all-star cast. Maybe. We're being fooled by the, the glow of the Christopher Nolan and on the marquee. Cinema camera. Cinema camera arm. The big IMAX screen.
Starting point is 00:39:30 So, yeah, I caught this in D-Box. Oh, well, right. Which is a regular-sized screen, I'll have you know. Wow. Yeah. Christopher Nolan would call that disgusting box. Yeah, you should. A dick gimmick.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Do you think he gets... I turned off the rattling chair also. So I just paid extra. Sometimes you can't fully turn off the rattling chair. It's like, it's like push the button down until it's off and you're like, okay, and then a big action sequence happens. It's like, whoa, it's still on for.
Starting point is 00:39:54 some reason. Throw you to the floor. Yeah. Do you think Christopher Nolan gets emailed in on when the D-Box is going to debox you in the D-box cinema? I don't think he's got anything to do with the D-Box. I think he might. You reckon?
Starting point is 00:40:06 I think if we speak to him, which we won't. We'd ask him. We should ask him. What do you think of disgusting? It's probably tied into sound and music cues as well. Oh, okay, right. If I'm guessing, I have no idea. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:17 Or maybe it's just random. We've never picked up on it. Yeah. No one ever switches it on. No, it's bad. I don't like it. Yeah, look, I liked it a lot. Again, I've never read the epic poem.
Starting point is 00:40:27 No. I've never seen any of the previous adaptations. No, there's one in like 54. There was like a telemovie in the 90s. Oh, brother, where art, that was not really the Odyssey. It's just a guy going somewhere and then coming back and then he writes a little song. Okay. But a lot of people like, well, that's the Odyssey.
Starting point is 00:40:41 It's not really. It's kind of the Odyssey. By the way you've described it. But also, like, having also not read or seen any of the adaptations, you've definitely seen a bunch of this in literally everything that's ever been written or. one of the fundamental texts, I guess, of the hero's journey kind of thing. Exactly. It's like when Luke Scarlett could blow up the Death Star
Starting point is 00:41:00 and then came home and went, that was pretty sick actually. That's right. What I did was cool and you all agree. And that's Friday night, he said. Yep. And look, there's also my understanding is there's a lot of different there's a lot of different translations of the Odyssey. Yeah, there's a 2017 one as the, was a popular most...
Starting point is 00:41:18 Yeah. And one is in rhyming, is a rhyming scheme, but most of them are just... Yeah. story. Yeah. You know, and this one is the very modern one. It's like, here's a story about my dad.
Starting point is 00:41:29 He's... Here's a story about my dad. He's 6'7. My dad Odysseus, he's so 6'7 for real. Yeah. And that's no cap, except the cap he has with a big broom on it. That's the only cap I'm talking about. He's got a big broomed cap.
Starting point is 00:41:42 Broomed cap. You know what this did remind me of? Yes. Though in a much larger scale, the green night. Oh, yeah, of course. It's got that kind of, that mythic kind of energy and that kind of realistic, grubby, magical universe where everything's awful. So this also, the opening title card of this says this is a world of apparent magic.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Yeah. Which I want to talk about that. A parent. Apparent magic. Saw a lot of weird shit happen. Well, maybe it did. Maybe everybody was on big drugs though. Maybe they're up.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Maybe, you don't know. Yeah. It's a loud movie also. I've heard people complain of the sound in this where like you can't understand the dialogue. Oh, I didn't have that problem. I didn't have that at all. Which I definitely have had in previous. It's very loud.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Yeah. what my screening was. Previous Nolan movies, Tenet, especially, I've seen that multiple times at home with subtitles on because I'm like,
Starting point is 00:42:30 I really want to drill down to this. I still don't know what's happening. I see, I've only seen it the once. I should probably revisit, but does your opinion on that changed since you first saw it?
Starting point is 00:42:38 Yes. Okay. It's better, I think. Yeah, right, cool. I really like the pairing of Matt Damon
Starting point is 00:42:44 and Himesh Patel as he's second in command. Oh, yeah, those two together. Yeah, I'm well, Himmish Patel is becoming one of those guys where I'm like, oh, it's good to see this guy in a movie. Yeah, he is
Starting point is 00:42:56 not in the promotional material, I think, or not really. But he's in this movie, like, more than most people. I took a screenshot of the Wikipedia page for this, because I was concerned somebody would delete this. It says, in the cast list, it says, Hamesh Battel as Eurilicus, Odysseus
Starting point is 00:43:12 is second in command and incompetent brother-in-law. Wow. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I thought he was mostly quite competent. But then I guess you make one mistake, don't you? You make one pig-related mistake and everybody thinks you're an idiot for the rest of the movie. Yeah, other people are making mistakes, man. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Well, this is, you know, this is largely about the mistakes of men and consequences. Oh, that's true. Yeah. So, you know, sometimes you do a pig thing. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:37 And Hathaway's great. Agreed. Uh, standing around, waiting for Matt Damon to come back. What's he doing? Yeah. Yeah. What's he been up to? Get off your duff, Matt Damon.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Yeah, exactly. And as mentioned, Tom Holland and also Ryan Hurst, who was Kratos. Yeah. Uh, I like that. pairing as well. Everyone's got a little friend. Little friend, exactly. And then you've got Johnny Legs as well. Yep. Does a very mean thing right at the start of the movie, but then recovers and you're like,
Starting point is 00:44:01 yeah, he's good. He's all right. Yeah. This guy's all right. Yeah. It also opens on, though we get it fleshed out more throughout the narrative, the story of Troy. The movie Troy. It starts on the movie Troy 2004. You guys remember this? I remember this in Landau Bloom, yeah. But the way that they frame that element of the narrative about, what would it take to really get 20 or 30 men inside a wooden horse convincingly enough for then to have a dragged into like the logistics alone of how you would do that and how many people you have to deceive including some of your own people to make that happen while there's men just drowning and
Starting point is 00:44:35 shitting all over each other in a wooden horse for days on end anyway that was your friday right on right exactly didn't have to buy around ah no it's your dog you dog you gave the old trojan horse just went to the bathroom every day he didn't have to buy a round every time I need. It was my turn. Yeah. But I, because I never really considered,
Starting point is 00:44:56 because Nolan was supposed to do Troy. We talked about it recently, when we covered that for Caravanagh, a Garbage. But his interpretation of this, it really made me believe the way that that movie didn't, that how you could fall for this.
Starting point is 00:45:09 Right. Because you're not going to, this, when it's half buried in the sand and it's just going to get washed out to the ocean, I guess you would be less inclined to think there's a dude in it.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Like, it doesn't have big wheels on it. Yeah, right. And a big welcome side. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bring indoors, please. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:26 There's none of that. This horse is cold. Please bring indoors. Yeah. So I really liked that element of it. I think one thing that has been critical of this movie is that it doesn't. Some people have said of the costuming, it doesn't look. It's not detailed enough.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Okay. I disagree with that for a number of reasons, but the idea of kind of, you know, people like, well, this is what Greek armor looked like at the time. and this is what Trojan armor looked like at the time and this is just kind of a... I thought, I mean, because the thing about Nolan is he is all about the details. One of my favorite movies for costuming
Starting point is 00:46:01 and just of Nolan movies and just movies in general is Inception because all the details of all the clothing is exactly right. Like if a character's a cab driver or a CEO or whatever, you could really zoom in on every aspect of that and be like, this is exactly right. So it doesn't make sense me that he wouldn't do any research on this?
Starting point is 00:46:23 Yeah. Like, this is a deliberate choice. It's obviously intentional. I think the idea is, I mean, you know, I've not seen this in any interviews or anything like that, but I think the idea would be that this is the remembrance of that. Right. Yeah. And it's like, well, you sort of remember.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Yeah, it's a myth. It's a myth. And that's, you sort of, you don't remember all the details. It's like gods of Egypt. Don't worry about it. Don't even worry about it. Don't even worry about it. Make excuses for this one, but not that one.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Yeah. Yeah. But I'm like, I'm also like, I was. never concerned about that. And no point was I like, wow, these, again, these do not look like costume party costumes. They look like costumes from this era. They all, you know, all the
Starting point is 00:47:00 characters from Greece look a certain way and all the characters from other places look a certain way. It all works. And I'm not concentrating on that. I'm concentrating on the story. Absolutely. And of course, you know, there's a lot of being said about the casting of this, etc. A lot of that has also been silenced because it seems like it's probably going to
Starting point is 00:47:16 make a billion dollars unless it falls off a cliff. I doubt it. But I got to see it again because I've got to finally get an IMAX. Yeah. And I get, well, first of all, I have to get an IMAX seat, but I also have to get an IMAX seat in the pocket of where you see IMAX and it looks good.
Starting point is 00:47:29 Yeah. You know, right, the 10 seats in the middle. Yeah, and look, I... So it could be weeks or months. Definitely. It could, like, yeah, there is not a lot of Greek casting in this. That is true. But again, it is a myth.
Starting point is 00:47:40 And sure, gods of Egypt did a similar thing. That's right. But also, like, if you look at the people complaining, there's not a lot of, well, why is Matt Damon in this? He's not Greek. Like, you can very... You can tell the people that are being focused on. Like, come on, man.
Starting point is 00:47:53 We know what this is. We know John Bernthal says he's from New York. So why would he? Yeah, they're all got American accents, you know? Yeah. Yeah. It's a sort of, um, the American accent thing I understand because it's just like, we just want them to all to talk the same.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Yes. It's more, it's really weird and distracting. I'm sure this is just a practicality thing. It's weird and distracting when you see a historical epic and some people have British accents and some people are attempting a Greek accent and some guys Russian and whatever. And it's like, some people really stand in a weird way. I think it's just like, it's an American movie. Most of the actors that are American, just give an American accent.
Starting point is 00:48:28 People also just used to seeing this, but everyone's got a British accent. Yeah. Or they're speaking in like, you know, Marvel Comics, Thor, Shakespearean English or whatever. And yeah, you could do like a apocalyptic style thing and do it in ancient Greek. Yeah. You know. Sounds like work to me. Sounds like too much work.
Starting point is 00:48:46 Christopher Nolan's not about that work. No, absolutely. Well, speaking to work, Mason, a lot is being said of this in the practical effects. Oh, yes. Not all of which is, which I do also want to talk about, but there are moments in this and we'll talk, I guess, more about some of them in spoilers. Like some big set pieces using mostly in-camera practical effects, one being a giant Cyclops man. Yeah, yeah. With a crooked-ass nose.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Yeah. So that's actually a... Just the whole crooked-ass head. I know. He blink sideways. Yeah. So it's actually a... That's a big puppet.
Starting point is 00:49:18 Yeah. As you may have heard. Yeah. I've seen, I saw a still from it. Yeah, it's horrible, like a horrifying sequence. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Should we talk more about this? What do you think they do with that after it's done? I don't know. Like it is... I'll have it. Yeah, I guess, yeah. Be in some prop. Or they blow it up, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:49:34 Blow it up, yeah. Yeah, I mean, a lot of this movie, and this has also been said, like, on Matt Damon on his epic quest to get him and his crew home after the Battle of Troy, which took 10 years to win. Yeah. They keep getting sidetracked and going to different,
Starting point is 00:49:47 mysterious, horrifying islands. Sure, yeah. And then there's a real back to the boat, boys, moment. And they all run screaming Monty Python style. Very much so. Back to the boat.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Yeah. Which I loved. Yeah. That was Matt. Again, people are always like... Back to the boat, boys. Christopher Nolan's like, you know, people's picture him as like this completely humorless dour kind of guy.
Starting point is 00:50:08 But I'm like, he's doing jokes. Yeah. You know? Yeah. It's just search for the Holy Grail. Sometimes it is. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Oh, yeah. There's another moment where. it's big men versus small men. Gods of Egypt style, yes. But the way they do it here, which I love, they got seven feet tall men to play the big men. Right. And then they got five foot tall stunt doubles for everybody else.
Starting point is 00:50:32 To play the Greeks. Yeah, so that's all apparently in camera. And then you film from a funny angle. Exactly. Then it's back to the boat, boys. That's right. Obviously. But there's also things in this.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I mean, there would also be, there's wirework which would have had to be replaced because there's people being thrown in that. But there's a swirling vortex moment on the ocean, which would have to be an obviously CGI. Jet skis. Yeah. Well, they churned it up for jet skis to get the effect on the water,
Starting point is 00:51:00 but they have to then put in the vortex. And that's also a moment where a monster is like yanking people off the boat. Yeah. And they're famous Greek yanker. That's right. And they're wired up. Yeah. But that monster is clearly a CGI added element.
Starting point is 00:51:14 Right, yeah. And also like Christopher Nolan, he's not secret. about using CGI but people just take it as oh he doesn't use it but he always has and he is if you look at interviews he does talk about Yeah of course he uses it as a tool like everything else
Starting point is 00:51:29 Yeah Who else can we talk about Robert Pattinson is suitably slimy Oh my God he's so slimy very slimy So slimy and slimy and twitchy as well Which was good like when things aren't going his way Says he on Wikipedia that he He likened it to James Woods in casino If you ever seen casino
Starting point is 00:51:45 He's the he's this kind of slime ball who's Sharon Stone is cheating on De Niro with. It's good good performance. Elliot Page plays Sinon. It doesn't get a lot of screen time. I initially thought he was only
Starting point is 00:52:01 going to get, because he's right at the start. Where we're seeing a little bit of the Iliad, the Trojan horse bit. And I'm like, oh, glorified cameo. But there's a scene later on where he gets a lot more like a more of a meaty kind of dramatic beat. And that character is
Starting point is 00:52:17 very clearly tied into Matt Damon's character and also Robert Pattinson's character and so that all comes full circle. They're all good friends. They're all good friends. The depiction of hell in this I really liked also and just said and then the idea that you run into people that you know.
Starting point is 00:52:32 And then you'd be like back to the boat boys. Make the boat. Here we go. I don't like this. Back to the boat. Back to the boat. Yeah. Why do we come to hell?
Starting point is 00:52:38 We were looking for directions or something? I think so. Feels like we're going the wrong way. I don't know. Yeah, I think we probably shouldn't have done this. I think there's a lot of quotes about going to hell and they say mostly don't do it. Wait, what do they say?
Starting point is 00:52:51 Don't forget to take a trip to hell. So there's also Agamemnon. Agamemnon, yes. Who's played by... Oh, should you even say? Oh yeah, I guess it's a bit of a spoiler. Yeah, say it in spoiler.
Starting point is 00:53:04 Really kind of Darth Vader-esque depiction of that character. There's a moment where the gates of Troy open and you see him. So it's interesting fact about that. I don't think this is a spoiler, but I saw an interview with Matt Damon where he said, you know,
Starting point is 00:53:16 there's the moment. where it's the, you know, the sacking of Troy and they have to, they have to invade Troy and they have to get the gates open. Yeah. You know, they've gone in the, in the horse and they have to get the gates open before the, all the soldiers are alerted and kill them. And Matt Damon was told, we're just going to open the gates and cut. Yeah. And Nolan didn't tell him there were 500 extras behind the gate, which is fun. I think that's really good. That's awesome. Yeah. Great sequence. And his brother's also played by John Bernthel. Yeah, which is cool. That's not a spoiler, because he's not wearing it.
Starting point is 00:53:47 Let me tell you something. I got a beard and a shaved head. Let me tell you something. Leipidion Young go also in dual roles. Let me tell you something. I meant a lass. I had to look it up. I'm in a lot of Les.
Starting point is 00:53:57 I was killed by Eric Banner in the movie, but not in this movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, LePitton and Yonge's dual roles, Helen of Troy and Helen of Troy's sister. Yeah. Helen of not Troy. That's right. Yeah. Again, not a huge role.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Yeah. And obviously not a big deal. Yeah. Also, you know, but one of the things people are upset about, who's really, who's really, good and people are talking about this and apparently it's a sequence where it's the only sequence other than Heath Ledger in filming the Dark Night where the crew clapped with Samantha Morton. Love her in this, tremendous in this, yeah. Holy crap.
Starting point is 00:54:29 Yeah, I remember when I watched the scene, which again is like this sort of vignette, this, it's a real. And I knew this happened. Yeah, and it's, then it becomes a, then it becomes a let's get back to the boat boys. But yeah, but yeah, when I, that scene happens and I'm like, people are going to be talking about this scene. She's great in this. Unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:54:50 People, there's a movie. And that's practical as well that moment. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She's in, she's Minority Report. She's in John Carter. Oh, is she? Yeah, I think so. I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:55:03 Unless something. Unless one of the red people or one of the forearm people. She might be one of those people. She's in a movie called Morven Caller. She plays Morven Caller. Yeah. About a woman whose boyfriend kills himself and has left a, like he's written a book.
Starting point is 00:55:19 And then she's just, she's just this bizarre psychopath who just covers up his death and then just goes on holiday. And like attempts to get the book published as her own work. Oh, great. Yeah. Cool and good movie. It's a cool and good movie. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:55:33 sounds cool and good. She did a movie in 2002 with Patty Constantine, called In America. Oh, I recommend people look up. That's a great movie. But yeah, well, I've said this before and I stand. buy it, Nolan is good at casting people.
Starting point is 00:55:50 Oh my God. Like he's, I've talked about like Sarah Halley Finn who casts all the Marvel stuff. Yep. Has never missed. It's same with, it's the same with Nolan and I assume his casting director who I don't know the name of. I should look them up. No, you're busy, aren't you?
Starting point is 00:56:04 It's probably Nolan personally. Yeah, he's probably doing himself. You've always, whenever you see somebody go. He's calling people on their home phone on his home phone. It's exactly right. Hello? And if they pick up, they get the role. If they have a home phone, they get the role. sitting at home and just the glass in their front window
Starting point is 00:56:19 smashes in and there's a tin can on a string. And somebody yells, call from Christopher Nolan, and then you have to pull on it till it's really tall. You've got to make it taught. Hello, it's Christopher Nolan. Hello. Do you want to be in my movie?
Starting point is 00:56:33 Do you want to be in big movie? Yeah, people want to be in big movie. Yeah, but she's great. Terrific. Ridiculous. Is she also in Peaky Blind is at some point? I don't know about that. I don't know if she is.
Starting point is 00:56:43 No. But again, just the idea, I'm sure people are like, well, this isn't Cersie or whatever, but it's like, she does such a good job. This is a, yeah, terrific. Also, like, a lot of people, you know, the reason they do certain things in this, she's not in Picky Blinders, you know, characters who are evil or shades of or entirely good, which I guess there isn't really in this.
Starting point is 00:57:05 The motivations are very clear, and it's, and you understand where they're coming from. Like, even Robert Pattinson, who's like a slimy, underhanded character, like, you get why he is the way he is, you know? He's a coward. That's just, yeah. Samantha Morton Foster Child. Oh, there you go. Okay.
Starting point is 00:57:21 Yeah, and she got hit on the head by a piece of 17th century plaster in 2006. She had to learn a walk again. Well, that's not fun. I don't think that's fun at all, but good for her getting out there. Yeah, you know? I hope there's more, more roles for her in the future and more, more freaking awards and stuff. You know? Yeah, more awards and stuff.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Yeah. Is Dadae's in this for a minute? Yes, and Daya. Charlie's Daron is in it for a little bit. A little bit? Yeah. Should we do some spoilers? Yes, but I'm going to say best movie ever.
Starting point is 00:57:51 I mean, I would... I had a hell of a time. I can imagine you might... If you get into this and you do not care for Nolan's like, again, setting the table for a long time and kind of... You're in this for nearly three hours. Only because that is the limit of an IMAX reel. Totally. Otherwise, he would have made it longer.
Starting point is 00:58:10 You know what? I spend a lot of this... Some of this movie, especially towards the end, I'm like, well, I could wrap it up here. interesting, he hasn't wrapped it up here. And then I'm like, oh no, this was worth. This was worth the extra length. You know what I mean? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:58:21 Yeah. I know, I just, I love the way it all kind of came together. You know, because often his movies, they're like an intricate kind of puzzle. Yeah. And this is more. This was a little bit puzzling. Yeah, it was. But I think it's also more like thematically.
Starting point is 00:58:34 You know about coming home and generational trauma, I guess. And who's your dad? Yeah. Who's your dad? Grief regret. Being a bad bloke. Yeah. Coming to terms with.
Starting point is 00:58:43 And I think some people would be like, well, in the original he was a real happy murder or whatever he loved doing murders or whatever. Wasn't he just a liar? Yeah, probably. Because none of this happened. But I... The pig thing happened though, didn't it? Yeah, the pig thing happened. Okay, cool. But again, it's an adaptation and it's not, if you want the
Starting point is 00:58:59 original, you've got the original. Yeah, and you've got... What do you? What do you do it? Dork. Yeah, he's doork. Do a community theatre version, Dork. Charge five bucks, dork. Support your local Town Hall and Dorks. But it's an adaptation and it's, you know, it's what Nolan wanted to do. So, you know, you don't have to like it. No.
Starting point is 00:59:24 But I happen to lump it. You've got to lump it if you don't like it, unfortunately, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, best movie ever. Time for big spoiler time. Yeah, it would be interesting to see, though, how this kind of shakes out in the next few years because obviously there's the initial, a lot of people's going to be liking it. And then there'll be the pushback.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Yeah. And then we'll just kind of see where this kind of lands in a few years. Like, even in his filmography, I think it's in his top, like, three. Oh, there you go. Okay, all right. It would be insomnia. I was going to say you were going to say insomnia.
Starting point is 00:59:52 The one that is very good. Yeah, and probably Dark Night Rises. Yeah, Dark Night Rises. Yeah. So, look, I get a lot of Dark Night Rises vibe from this. It's about a man who returns. Yeah. He goes away then he returns.
Starting point is 01:00:01 Well, he's talked about that as well. Nolan's like, oh, I've done a lot of the Odyssey just did movies prior to this. Just by accident. Yeah. Just because of the nature of storytelling. Ugh. Ugh.
Starting point is 01:00:13 Mason's pantomime throwing a scarf over his shoulder. Yes. Spoilers. And I bid you with you. Yes. I'm Christopher Nolan. Spoilers. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:21 Pigs. Yeah. Yeah. Cersie transforms all the men into pigs. Literally. Yeah. And like clearly using like puppetry and like animatronics and clay and just like mushing men's heads. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:34 So one of the many one of the many let's explore this island. Yeah. Oh, we should have gone away boys. We should have gone back to the ship. Wait a minute. This deer's a man, boys. Yeah. They arrive on this island.
Starting point is 01:00:44 This bird's a bird. And there's all sorts of birds and lions and leopards and tigers and things. Oddly just sitting around. Just sitting around and they find Circe's little hut and she's and they're like, can we have some food? She's like, yes. Dude, I got so much food. Good.
Starting point is 01:00:59 Have some good food. Yeah. And then they're all, they're slurping it. Yep. Slurping the slop. They're sloping that slop. Yep. And then.
Starting point is 01:01:06 It's probably a commentary on binging television. Almost certainly it is. Yes. Turn you into a pig. That's right. Turn you to a pig mason. Yeah. And then she transforms them into pigs for being, you know, bad men.
Starting point is 01:01:19 Yeah. Which they kind of are. Yeah. Like she's not wrong. Because that's interesting because the decision she makes, which she tells Matt Damon, straight out, that like they are pigs. I've just done. I've just turned them into what they're actually are. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Because, you know, because he's obviously had terrible experiences in the past, you know. With men. Yeah, it kind of feels like a justifiable reason. She saw the movie men. Did she? Yep. Men. She saw two and a half men.
Starting point is 01:01:44 Men. Children of men. Yep, she saw men in black four. Men in black, what? Yeah. Oh, men in black in the national? Oh, no. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:01:52 Well, I'd forgive her. Forgive her. I love also with this and we get a bit of this and like, obviously this is a throwback to a lot of Ray Harry House and stuff or whatever. It's got that big epic kind of scale. I thought it was interesting that when they go to Hades, I was expecting skeletons to arise from the ground. Nah, just men.
Starting point is 01:02:10 Just men. Dirty men. Typical dirty man. Rubby, dirty men. Who is the? Oh, it's James Remar is the, he's the man on the ground. Is that James Reimer? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:19 Because I knew he was in this, I didn't realize that was James Reema. Okay, cool. I liked man on the ground. Me too. Drink this blood from a big upside down shield. Yeah, what can we talk about in this, in this? I enjoyed, you mentioned it before, Telemachus, Tom Holland, and mentor their visit to Menelaus. Yes.
Starting point is 01:02:40 So, John Bernthal, I thought that was good. It was just a... Alan of Troy's there. She was like, I didn't like any of this. No, this sucks, actually. But I liked it. You know, the revelation there was like, and it's an interesting, because of the era in which they live, I thought, you know, it's interesting. You never really know what's happened to anybody.
Starting point is 01:02:59 Anybody who leaves your life. You just hear maybe. Maybe they hear stories or they, you know, oh, I heard your father was this and, you know, ultimately, Telemachus hears that it's, he's over with John Berthel and he goes to visit and John Belton's like, oh, did you hear some stories? I was in the horse. Yeah, I don't know. I wasn't... After that, I was on a different boat. Yeah, I don't know what happened there.
Starting point is 01:03:18 My brother Darth Vader got stabbed. That's right. But I like the idea that, you know, he's like, well, sorry, I couldn't tell you anything about where your dad is, but he's like, yeah, but you told me about him. Yeah. You know what I mean? I thought that was an interesting. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:32 Agamemnon is Benny Safti. Yeah. Took me a second. Yeah. That's right. And he'll always be agamemnon. James, he'll always be Agamemnon until I build a bigger Agamemnon. Are they working in that?
Starting point is 01:03:43 I'm going to push through that even though. Yeah, they're working on that. Yeah. Yeah, the Russians are working on building a bigger Agamemnon. Someone should do something. Not me, but someone is. No, somebody should do something. You don't like it this as well.
Starting point is 01:03:55 The gods are clearly unfair. Yeah. As they always are in this era. Or do they exist? Because this is a land of apparent magic. Yeah, because I guess everything that you see of Matt Damon's adventures and stories, it's from his perspective. Yep.
Starting point is 01:04:09 Or it's... He's always eating those lotus flowers. He's always eating lotus fowls. But anything else that, Anybody remembers who was there, like Troy, John Bernthol. Yes. There's no element of magic to that. And again, the biggest reveal of the movie, I think.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Probably the Cyclops. That is pretty big. The big men also. That was big. Big man was a big reveal. Big man was a big reveal. Big wooden horse. That was big.
Starting point is 01:04:31 But metaphorically the biggest reveal, I think, was that Athena, who we see, Zendaya is playing Athena, who appears to Matt Damon and no one else and sort of guides him along the way and, you know, asks him, the heck he's doing and so on and so forth. We learn at the end of the movie, which is actually a flashback to the Trojan War, that a woman who looks exactly like her, who lived in the city of Troy,
Starting point is 01:04:58 was slaughtered by his men. And he is therefore seeing Athena as that woman and has been for 20 years. And also like, I don't think this is the case, but maybe that was Athena. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. Because there is also this thing of like gods are among us.
Starting point is 01:05:12 and that's why you let a beggar in. Zeus's law. Zeus's law. I expected one of those guys to be like, I'm Zeus's law. No, I didn't. But I liked also the fact that this world is coming apart. Yes.
Starting point is 01:05:27 Because of the actions, it seems, of Matt Damon. Yeah. Like breaking that law. Oh, that's the thing that I was going to say. Yeah, so in the movie, various characters keep hearing stories of the men from the sea. They live in fear of the men of the sea. who don't believe in laws or anything,
Starting point is 01:05:45 and they're going to come and destroy you because the society... They won't even wipe their feet. That's right. The world is crumbling and blah, blah, blah. They don't like your dog. They don't exactly. They don't like your dog. But then we realize that, yeah, no, exactly.
Starting point is 01:05:57 Puppet-ass dog. Stupid puppet-ass, Muppet-ass dog. It was Jim Ensign. Oh, Jim Enson. Come pick up your Muppet-ass dog, you're the Muppet. But those stories have circulated because, at least in part, because Odysseus is men, like all the truth,
Starting point is 01:06:15 they are the men from the sea. They're the first people to... And there is this reverberation of, oh, this is the new rule? The new rule is like you can just get in a horse. You can just get in a horse and then invade somebody's city and kill all the women or whatever.
Starting point is 01:06:26 And so that has been passed around and now suddenly all these, this city of Ithaca is receiving stories about these horrible men doing these horrible leads and they're afraid of them, but it's them. I mean, it's them and others. I wouldn't be. You'd just tough it out?
Starting point is 01:06:39 Yeah, I just get a sword. Oh, hell yeah. But also I think, and obviously... But what if they had a bigger sword? Oh, then I'd probably run away. Yeah. Back to the boat. Back to the boat.
Starting point is 01:06:48 But it's also... I'm sure people have made this comparison. It does feel like we're living in a time where... Oh, fuck, you just do whatever, I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, it doesn't matter. But ever... Kill anybody do anything?
Starting point is 01:07:01 Every generation has to... Yeah, absolutely. I mean, that's what Chris Nolan's telling us. Yeah, no, I think it's just now and also... And when this happened in the past. Oh, yeah. Just the two times. Wow.
Starting point is 01:07:12 But that's the thing of like, it's like kicking a door open to that. They should cut to modern, the modern world and somebody who looks exactly like Matt Damon, reading the newspaper, even though it's 2026. He's like, oh, wow. This is just like that other time. Society. The newspaper reads society going to the dogs. I'm not a reincarnation.
Starting point is 01:07:31 I just look like it, by the way. Yeah, that's right. Yeah. Oh, and the phone rings and it's Chris Nolan. Hello? And he says Matt Damon. We have to make a movie. And then the guy's like, I'm actually not Matt Damon.
Starting point is 01:07:41 I just look like that day. Look a lot like it. Like, look a lot like it. This is like Oceans 12. Yeah. Where was Julia Roberts, but it wasn't. Where in the, so does that mean we're in the ocean's universe? Yes, Chris Nolan.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Oh. The ocean's 12 universe. Oh. Yeah, Soderberg's not doing them anymore, Chris Nolan. He's not. I thought he was doing the new one. Maybe, I don't know. I'm not Matt David.
Starting point is 01:07:59 I'm not Matt Damon. I get my news from the newspaper just like everybody in 2026, all right? But yeah, so what I was going to say with Oppenheimer. Yes. Dropping a nuclear bomb kicked a fucking door open. That you cannot close. Correct. You know, so it felt...
Starting point is 01:08:14 I could have closed it. I would have said, all right, everybody. Sort yourselves out. But you didn't. I wasn't around then. Okay, we can do it now. Yeah, I guess I could. It's too open.
Starting point is 01:08:22 It's too far open now, though. Yeah. So that old bit of it. But yeah, the gods being unfair also, again, if they're real or whatever. But, you know, they put cows on an island and then they send starving men there, which they know is going to happen. Yeah. And then be like, but don't.
Starting point is 01:08:37 Yeah. What are you doing? What are we doing? I mean, that's classic gods, isn't it? It is. I mean, you know, classic God being like, don't it? That fruit, it looks delicious though, doesn't it? Did that snake tell you to do that?
Starting point is 01:08:47 No, that was the devil. Yeah. Who I created, by the way. Yeah, that's me. Yeah. Not me, but, you know, I made it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:54 Yeah. The big men on the island. I thought that was interesting. There was a boy to start with? I thought it was a girl. I don't know. Oh, I didn't know. A young person.
Starting point is 01:09:04 Yeah, I thought it was interesting. Apparently there's much more to that in the original palm, but we don't have all shut up. Dude, I'm tired. Start your community theatre version. What really happened on the island of the big men? The play. Shut up. Dorks.
Starting point is 01:09:19 But, yeah, I thought that was it. What it reminded me of is that, because again, it's the land of a parent, it's a world of apparent magic. You know how what they talk about in the Lord of the Rings world? There's Tom Bombadil who doesn't, he doesn't appear in the Lord of the Rings movies because he's not really relevant to it. But the idea of the character is that he just, he represents the other things. things that are happening. He's a remnant of other things. Like, even though you're fighting this
Starting point is 01:09:45 war against evil and the whole world is at stake, there's just other stuff going on. This guy's not concerned. I'm busy too. I felt like this was, that was representative. That was this weird situation. They're like, we shouldn't have. So in the, this is unrelated to us and we shouldn't be. The vibe I got was their aliens. How do you feel about that? I'll take that. Yeah. Because they're like, because also when they go to the island, it's, it's, it's, It's like there was a forest fire. Yeah, it was like there was, I felt it was like there was, there'd been a forest fire or something like that. But they're literally moving as well.
Starting point is 01:10:19 The trees are. There's moments where you see them like. I'm like spaceship landed. That's what they are. They're just big space men. I think they're probably just big men. Probably could just be big men. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:28 Yeah. So, yeah, it culminates in Matt Damon finally coming back. Take your bloody time. He didn't even want to come home, it turns out. It was delaying the inevitable. Yeah, right. And then he has to kill 40 men. That's right.
Starting point is 01:10:39 Tom Holland scuffles with one. That's right. Yes. Upstairs. Upstairs? Well, he's dropping swords and shields down and Robert Pattinson is yelling about it. Just executing all those men.
Starting point is 01:10:50 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because the, the, Penelope, Queen Penelope, that's Anne Hathaway. She says, okay, well, what I'll do is I'll, whoever can complete this heroic task, this stunt. It's a stunt. I'll give you a big kiss. I'll marry you, whoever can do it.
Starting point is 01:11:07 And it's string the bow of Odysseus and shoot a arrow through a series of axes, which was his party trick. It was just a thing he did. And people had fun with it. Dude, he loved it. But nobody can do it. And then,
Starting point is 01:11:21 oily Robert Pattinson's like, well, I'm not even going to try it because it's clearly... This is dumb, actually. This is dumb, actually, and I don't like it. And then Odysseus shows up, and he's like, I'm going to kill everybody. Also, we didn't even mention this, but all the boorish suitors, they show up years ago,
Starting point is 01:11:36 and they're sticking around, and Tom Holland always wants to get rid of, them but you can't if you because of Zeus's law you can't you can't refuse them and also is also part of Zeus's law if he were to attack any of them they could they could kill him they could kill him so he can't risk it and and so they're like okay well we can just do whatever we want we can be we can be as big as jerks as we want yeah but at the end Matt Dam is like you know what if I've learned anything for my 20 years abroad it's F that I'll do what I want I'm an old man I'm going to kill all these men I'm going to born identity every single one
Starting point is 01:12:09 dogs and he does he certainly does yeah yeah great sequence and then of course he you know he has to pretty much go into exile because he's like well I can't be king because I broke Zeus's law 40 times I killed 40 men all these people have families
Starting point is 01:12:22 and etc also yeah because they're rich families yeah so Tom Holland has to become the king oh I guess I'll just be the king I guess I'll just be in the Spider-Man movies and I'll be married to Zendaya and I'll be the king
Starting point is 01:12:35 I got a little headband now yeah that's right that means I'm the king It's a special goal that only big special boys get. I mean, men. All right. As he said, we talked about it last week, it was Tom Holland's last chance to play a boy. Yes. A boy of 20, early 20s.
Starting point is 01:12:50 Yes. Yeah. Where he's a man of 30s. Wow. Just 30, I believe. Yeah. Yeah, all in all, I had a really... I had a really big movie.
Starting point is 01:12:58 I had a really big movie. And I just, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like really immersive. Yep. I just like that he's able to do this. Agreed, yeah. You know? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Because it felt sometimes it was like, this is a movie for movies sake. But I'm like, why not? Why else? Why else do you make movie? Yeah. And who else better to make big movie? Yep. Than Christopher Big Movies Nolan.
Starting point is 01:13:22 You know? That's right. If we, if we, he's not coming here for the tour for the, for the press junker or like that. But I'm like, if we ever speak to him, which we won't. But if we could, we need to get him to say, hello, this is Christopher Nolan. And it's time for. big movie.
Starting point is 01:13:39 Do you reckon it didn't know? I think he would do it. All right. Yeah. Because normally we turn down interviews. That I don't want to talk to us. And we've turned so many down that they stop asking us. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:13:49 But we'll do that one. I would do that one. Okay, cool. But what would you say to Christopher Nolan? That's the thing. What would you say that it's not? How did Batman get back to the city in the dark? Nice.
Starting point is 01:13:57 Yeah. Hang on a second, Chris Nolan. Wait a second. Yeah. How did, but he was alive at the end? Yeah. But that bomb blew up. Yeah, the bomb blew up.
Starting point is 01:14:05 So was he a ghost at the end? Was Alfred only seeing him Because it was her hallucinating Was Joseph Gordon Leavitt when you make the next one So he'll be the Batman Or is he going to be Robin in your next Batman movie? Oh Robin What are you going to do with that?
Starting point is 01:14:17 It's weird because his name is Robin But Batman had a sidekick in the comics called Robin Is that a coincidence? Christopher Christopher Nolan Christopher Christopher! Christopher come back
Starting point is 01:14:28 Don't you get on that boat That's right He's running back to the boat He would too He would wouldn't he yeah Got some reviews here Wait hang on let me Who is
Starting point is 01:14:36 Christopher Holland in this movie. Oh, which character? Because he's lean out of the Capio Inception. Yeah. Because he's like the direct... He's Robert Pattinson in Tenet. Yep. But he's not always.
Starting point is 01:14:46 I'm sure that's not true in most of the movies, but... I guess he's Matt Damon. He's going on a journey. He's going on a journey. He's Tom Holland. He's... He's... He's shouldering the burden of cinema on his own.
Starting point is 01:14:57 That is Tom Holland, isn't he? Yeah. It's getting people getting bums in seats. Well, Danive Villanue is making bomb after bob. No. Until he makes a bigger bomb. Until he made Dune. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:09 Incredible movies that nobody saw, which is not true anymore. But, yeah, he's up, he's downstairs scrapping. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. Christopher Nolan's Tom Holland. I'm keeping film alive. David should have said that while he's fighting people.
Starting point is 01:15:21 Just, I'm keeping film alive. Can you just, I'm trying to... I see it in D-Box, I guess, as long as you buy it a ticket. Ah! Here's some reviews from the Planet Broadcasting Great Mates Group. Terrifico. Dubella Wood says... Oh, yes.
Starting point is 01:15:36 I loved it. Best ancient Greece portrayal I've seen in film. Great mix of history and myth. Really hope this movie performs well. It deserves it. Well, it is. Corey says, it's so much fun with this movie,
Starting point is 01:15:46 the way Christopher Nolan played with the realism and the myth side of things made the storytelling really compelling. Most of the cast pool in amazing performances. Tom Holland seemed a little bit lost in the cast and gets a lapsed around him. I don't think that's true. I think this is one of his best performances, honestly.
Starting point is 01:16:00 You know what I would ask Christopher Nolan. What do you mean? I'd say apparent magic, elaborate on that. Oh, yeah. And then he would just talk for a long time. Yeah. You know? Nice.
Starting point is 01:16:08 Yeah. And then I would ask him, I would say the alien thing. Yeah. See what he thinks of it. Yeah, but aliens, right? Yeah, but aliens. Come on, man. They're big and they're all silver and that.
Starting point is 01:16:15 Yeah. It's aliens, right? Must have been. Like the 50s or whatever. Sci-fi. You love sci-fi movies from the 50s or whatever. Yeah. You're sitting in front of the black and white TV with your little tinker toys, you idiot.
Starting point is 01:16:25 You dork. You talk. You talk-ass nerd. Nicole says, you know how sometimes a movie is so serious an epic in scale that you almost find a cliche. That's kind of what happened to me with this movie. Like, I get that it's an epic tale, but there are a couple of points where I was like, okay, really? Especially in regard to the ending where Odysseus kicked everybody's butt so handily.
Starting point is 01:16:43 Or the moral tale of it, not going against Zeus's law, I felt a bit heavy-handed. But if you turn your brain off, I do think it's a beautifully told tale done in a very sweeping way. At the very least, it looks stunning. The visual work is Chef's Kiss for sure. I can't remember what parts of it were, but there were certainly moments in this movie where I'm like, that's kind of corny. Yeah, for sure. I can't remember what they were, but at a rewatch, I'll be like, oh, yeah. The moment where Robert Pattinson
Starting point is 01:17:06 keep yelling out the names of the weapons when they fell through. Maybe that's also just funny. I don't know. Yeah, maybe, yeah. Yeah, you just be like, shields! Shields!
Starting point is 01:17:14 Get the shields! Boxing glove on a spring. Get it. Jason says, from growing up watching the Kevin Sorbo, Hercules, did the Disney version, though through Troy and 300.
Starting point is 01:17:25 This movie Scratch the Greek mythology, itch-eyed long forgotten. Oh, yes. Great set pieces, performances, and various scenes all play out as long as needed without lingering, best movie ever. Very good.
Starting point is 01:17:34 Darrell says, Best movie ever absolutely loved it. Some stellar performances, interstellar. And some incredible sequences. Bloody fantastic. Can't wait to watch it again. And Sarah says, I really loved it. There are a few moments where you could feel how long it was, but they couldn't have made it short of the performances were all great. I really love the creature design and the music slash sound design. The Cyclops is really upsetting to look at in a good way. And the Sushi transformation was rad.
Starting point is 01:17:55 Our cinema was really loud. So there were moments where you could feel the storms in your chest. It was great. Cool. Yeah. Let us know also if you saw it in IMAX. I'm curious to know. If you were able to.
Starting point is 01:18:06 Yeah. Yeah. Was it just bigger, taller brooms on the heads? Mm, that's a great question. Yeah. Yeah. All right. We'll move to the next segment of the show.
Starting point is 01:18:12 Terrifico. What is it? It's what we read. Yep. What we're going to read? I'm doing nothing. I'm doing it. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:18:21 What are we reading today? All right. All right. I just want to mention before we talk about things we've been watching reading or doing. This week's bonus thing at big sandwich.com or Patreon.com or Patreon. movies or YouTube membership. It's an episode of We Got, we got this covered.
Starting point is 01:18:36 It's a video that Maisie put together where one of the things we do is relive the original Star Wars trilogy from a clickbait article. Oh, that's right. Where there's an interesting twist on that. Sure is. I had a good time. Baffling.
Starting point is 01:18:49 And among other things that we look into, nonsense. Yeah. But those videos are great. Mays have been doing a really good job on the edits. I agree. Again, available those places. It's linked below and there's so much other stuff.
Starting point is 01:19:00 Stuff. That you can do like last week, we did a Highlander commentary. over the movie, Highlander. Can I, I, I just wanted to point out. What do I have to do? No, you don't have to do anything. Thank you. So, we recorded that many weeks ago.
Starting point is 01:19:12 Yeah. And it's, the, the, um, the fun, the fun, uh, bit about the, the Star Wars article. Yeah. From, it was from USA Today.com. And I just cannot be clear enough weeks later. The same. The same thing is happening on the website. This is a, I assume a national or international news organization and they haven't.
Starting point is 01:19:31 Maybe if you try to make it. Maybe to be like, well, if you're Australian, for American. Maybe. If you're doing American stuff. Oh. Are you doing American stuff? I'm doing Love American style. All right.
Starting point is 01:19:41 That was a TV show, I think. What's that look like? I don't know. But it was on the way, love American style. Yeah, but what does loving American style mean? Big Uncle Sam Hat. Where? Wherever, man.
Starting point is 01:19:55 All right. All right. Mason, what are you reading? I watched two episodes of a couple of TV shows. Sure. I watched the first two episodes. that are out of the show Lucky. It's an Apple TV show.
Starting point is 01:20:07 It's got Anya Taylor Joy in it. It's like a crime show. So it's a, she plays a woman named Lucky and her and her husband are like con artists. Yeah, and they get, and they get a big score. They get millions of dollars. Big score. But, and they spend the night at, that's Caesar's Palace.
Starting point is 01:20:24 Yes. Product placement. But when she wakes up, she's been drugged and the husband's gone and the money's gone. And the FBI's been tipped off. she's there, so she has to escape. So it sort of becomes this idea of like, where's a husband, where the money go? Is he in on this?
Starting point is 01:20:41 Has he been kidnapped? It's pretty compelling, I like it. And she's also awful. Lucky is awful. Like she's a... I like an awful character. She's like a... It's again, like, people have talked about this,
Starting point is 01:20:50 but it's nice that women get to be awful on screen. You know, as opposed to being like, stop it, boys. Yeah. You know what I mean? She's like... Stop mucking around. She's clearly... And what is interesting is that I keep forgetting she is terrible.
Starting point is 01:21:01 Because she's in this situation where she's being pursued on all sides and like, you know, the criminals want to get her and the FBI wants to get her or whatever. And then she'll be like, she'll go to a home of like, you know, a woman who's, you know, a single mom and she's just trying to protect her daughters or whatever. And she'll come in and, you know, take advantage of her hospitality or whatever and then just rip her off on the way out kind of thing. And it's like, oh yeah, you're awful. I forgot. You know what I mean? Just on the way out just casually. She'll just spin some story about, you know, how her, and what's interesting because it's like what she says sort of has an element of truth.
Starting point is 01:21:36 She'll be like, oh, you know, I was in this bad relationship and my boyfriend, you know, this, and that's why I'm here and I don't have any money and blah, blah, blah. And so this person will help her out. She's like, later suckers. But, you know, in a way... She's Marty supreming everybody. She's Marty supreming everybody because it's like, well, in a way...
Starting point is 01:21:51 He's not a nice guy, though. Oh, no! I better call Lucky to tell her to stop this. I also watch the first two episodes. I don't know why, but I watched the first two episodes of Memory of a Killer, which is the Patrick Dempsey show. which is... Oh, is that... Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:22:05 Is that worth watching? What's interesting? Because I like Patrick Dempsey. I think that's why I saw... He's got a brain condition. Yeah, I saw Patrick Dempsey on Instagram and I'm like, he seems like a nice fella. I like him.
Starting point is 01:22:13 I like his watches and hats and hair. I do like his watches and hats and hair. He's got great hair. But it's... So the premise basically is that he is a contract killer. Yeah. And they kills bad guys, of course. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:25 But he's got a double life. And the mob guys that he works for, they don't know that he's a widower. and he has a grown-up daughter, they think he's just always been like this, you know, this... This cool aloof guy with cool hair. Yeah, cool a loof guy with...
Starting point is 01:22:38 And obviously his daughter doesn't know that this is what he does. The only people that know what... The only person who knows what he does is his brother who has Alzheimer's and he can't communicate. So he just tells, he just leans on this brother and he's like, here's all the bad stuff I've done kind of thing. Okay, right.
Starting point is 01:22:54 But then, like, but then he starts to develop Alzheimer's himself. Or like, he's starting to have memory problems when he's making mistakes and his, Does he actually have Alzheimer's? Is this like a twist thing? No, he seems to actually have it. Like he's forgetting like he puts a, you know, he, he brings a woman over to his house and then he thinks he's putting his gun in the safe, but he just leaves it out somewhere and she's, you know.
Starting point is 01:23:14 And he's like, oh no, I'm making all these mistakes. And so the world start to collide kind of thing. Yeah. It's interesting. I think he's, yeah, I think Dempsey is good in it. But it's very, based on the first two episodes I watched, it's, it's, it feels pretty network sitcom. And but, no, network drama, I mean. Right.
Starting point is 01:23:29 Like, uh, in the sense of, like, um, it's, based. Like, I'll give you an example, like there's a moment where he's having lunch with his daughter at a restaurant and there's, you know, they're facing the window. Yeah. Or they're at the window. They're eating lunch at the window. And someone sent an assassin to kill him and spent, and he notices that that is happening because the red dot appears on his daughter.
Starting point is 01:23:52 And it's like, and he, you know, he heroically pushes her out of the way and whatever. And it's like, they don't really use that. No, but why would anybody do that? Yeah. You wouldn't send a professional killer to send a to kill a professional killer. They don't need the red dot. They don't need the red dot. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:24:07 Like they don't need. But it's like, yeah. So it's like, but it's part of the lexicon of like contract killers for like regular people. You'd be like, well, of course they're going to, there needs to be a scene where he pushes somebody out of the way at the, the laser side or whatever. Yeah, absolutely. But it's like nobody would ever actually do that. I mean, I think there would be a better way to do that. You see the glint of, you see the glint of the scope or whatever.
Starting point is 01:24:27 It doesn't even have to be that. Yeah. That was my, but there would be... Somebody could yell, I'm going to kill you, Patrick Dempsey, and he'd be like, not on my watch. Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, you know?
Starting point is 01:24:37 With the lasers. Bang, bang, bang, bang. Exactly. With laser gun. Lays... Not probably watch a couple more episodes. Again, I like, yeah, sort of fun. It's fun and stylish and maybe it gets less dumb.
Starting point is 01:24:47 Sounds to me like you're describing Patrick Dempsey himself. Oh, ha, ha, ha, ha. Got him. Cheers, boys. Cheers, boys. Back to the boat. We've done a sick burn. Back to the boat.
Starting point is 01:24:57 That was a good thing. I did it. I think that was a nice burn on Patrick Dempsey. Yeah. A real hymn. Yeah, it was a cooling balm to Patrick Dempsey. That's right. I've been watching because it's been 25 years of the office since the office.
Starting point is 01:25:13 Oh, yeah. The original series. And my understanding is there were two releases. Bazaar. This is why I wanted to talk about it. So the BBC released one, which was like interviews with all the cast and stuff and Stephen Merchant or whatever. No. Something like that?
Starting point is 01:25:26 No, so the BBC did. Maybe there is that. But what I watch, there's Martin Freeman and McKenzie Crook. Oh, yeah. Who play Garin and Tim. And they sit down and it's just like half an hour where they just talk about the office to each other. That's what I was thinking of. I think the one that people seem to like.
Starting point is 01:25:41 Yeah. And there's one, really interesting. Released one. Yeah. So Ricky DeVase did one on his YouTube channel where he's like, oh, I guess I'm using YouTube again. Whatever. Yeah, right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:50 If you can handle, sorry if you can't handle that. Yeah. I don't even care whatever. Yeah. Oh, whatever. Yeah. Yeah. Cool.
Starting point is 01:25:57 So he counts down like the top best moments from the office or his best. Is Stephen Merchant involved in any of them? This is what's weird. So Stephen Merchant released a clip. Yeah. This is again what I want to talk about it. Because I don't really care. I just find it interesting.
Starting point is 01:26:15 It is interesting. Yeah. So if you don't know, Stephen Merchant and Ricky Javis came up together. No, sorry. Ricky Javis hired Stephen Merchant to be an assistant for him. Right. And they worked together and then they did a little. radio show together and then among other things and then they ended up creating the office together
Starting point is 01:26:30 but ricky jabase was kind of the face of it because he's he's in it he's david bray and merchant for the most part was never in the she was it appeared in occasionally he's in like one episode he plays like a friend of garren but of course he subsequently he was in extras and he was in other stuff he's done he's quite a quite a quite a quite a quite a quite a quite a quite a good acting career than rickie jubase does he's got a generally quite regarded well regarded acting career generally like he's in logan yeah he's a good comedic actor. He's a good dramatic actor, clearly, you know, and people seem to like him. You see him on interviews and stuff. He's very funny, like, in person where I, Ricky Jervase is less and less so. Right. And so, but around, I think after the time of like Cemetery Junction,
Starting point is 01:27:09 or maybe it was Life's Too Short, which is the Warwick Davis series where he just plays David Brent. Right. But it's also in the universe where Ricky and Steve play themselves and he'll visit them occasionally and whatever. Oh, okay. So after this, yeah, it's not very good. But after that, they stopped working together. Interesting. For various reasons that we do not know. Salacious reasons? Yes.
Starting point is 01:27:30 So yeah, after life too short, they parted ways and they started doing different things. Stephen Merchant again, still was some directing and acting. Ricky Jervais did a David Brent's spin-off movie.
Starting point is 01:27:40 Oh, that's right. Yeah. He went back to his music career. Yeah, and it's just not, and he always said how he'd never return to the office.
Starting point is 01:27:49 Well, it's not technically the office. It is the office, except he's the only one in it. Right. But he also, again, works in an office and it's just not very good. Anyway, so Ricky Jervais has got this conversation on his YouTube channel where he just counts down these 20 moments.
Starting point is 01:28:02 With no one. And, you know, it's interesting to see his perspective and how they filmed him, whatever, because, again, I love the office. And it's such a good performance by him. And, I mean, the fact that, you know, it was so successful, and there's a spinoff in every country at this point, you know. And, like, good spin-offs, too. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 01:28:19 Like, it's so good that the template for this translates so well. Like there's almost There's almost no examples of Stuff like this You know, an adaptation doing as well as the original No, absolutely But the American one, you know, blew the roof off Yeah, you know, etc.
Starting point is 01:28:36 So, you know, you cannot take that away from the man No, absolutely. I would, and even like extras I quite like extras and probably some of the others fun Yeah, absolutely. Probably other than some of the other. But also like clearly the best work that he has done Yes. Is with Stephen Merchant.
Starting point is 01:28:50 Yeah. Extras is great as well because they've leveraged the success of the office into getting lots of celebrities and getting them to do play against type of small stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not the full focus of the, yeah. But I think, yeah, because Ricky Javas kind of becomes obsessed with like celebrity culture and it'll go to Golden Globes and it'll be like, oh, you all suck and whatever. Yeah, but I'm here though.
Starting point is 01:29:09 But it's so like, I don't know, and I think people like it, but it's always felt kind of safe and tame and they're paying you to do this. Like, the celebrities, they feel kind of in on the joke because you can get up and be like, well, is it Johnny Depp and alcoholic or whatever they do? They're doing. Typically, he's not. It's a joke. Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 01:29:29 Yeah. But what's interesting, though, but in interviews, and this is also noticeable in this, he hasn't mentioned Stephen Merchant. Yeah, not at all. And he probably has in passing this, probably been in moments, but it's like when I did this, when I was acting in this scene, I thought the character could be like this. And what else? Well, maybe Stephen Merchant had no opinion on that in the moment.
Starting point is 01:29:50 Maybe, maybe you're right. So it's pointless. Maybe it was. would be a series of then I, and then I said, what do you think about this Stephen Merchant? He said, oh, I don't know. I'm thinking about being in Logan in a couple of decades. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:00 But there's also, like, I think Stephen Merchant, in addition to adding funny stuff, he puts an internal logic to the universe, which makes sense. There's like a hyper, not a hyper reality. There is a reality to the office and even extras, but less so. It feels like a real universe where if you look at like Derek or Lines Too Short or The Invention of Lying. Did he write that? Did he write that?
Starting point is 01:30:22 Yeah, I think he might have even done that. with Stephen Merchant. I hope not, because that's an atrocious movie. It's not good. Yeah, like, and it's not, so, like, just watching,
Starting point is 01:30:32 if you've seen any clips from, like, Ricky Jabbae spin-off movie, whatever it's called. It's just, like, I don't even think you understand this. Right. Maybe you never did,
Starting point is 01:30:41 or you definitely don't now. Right. But the fact that he, but Stephen Merchant will mention Ricky Devats, and we'll credit him and whatever. It's a real Martin Malloy situation. This is a Martin Maloy situation.
Starting point is 01:30:52 But it's also, interesting. Martin Freeman says something in that conversation with McKenzie Crook where he says they do actually add a lot of their own lines and moments they did to that show. Right. But they weren't in the script, but they're not credited for them. And then if you read a script for that, which they've released, they're actually just transcripts of the episodes. Right.
Starting point is 01:31:12 They're not the original scripts. And it wasn't him saying, oh, they were shit and we fixed it. Right. It was just like, no, we did. He wasn't like angry about it. No, right. Like, no, we added like a bunch of stuff in the moment. So if you buy a script now or you find it on the internet, it's often like, it's as
Starting point is 01:31:29 if, it's just verbatim. It's as if Ricky Javasan, Stephen Merchant, wrote everything when they didn't. And again, he's not saying that like they're not talented and we fixed it. That's not what it is. But I don't know, I just found the whole thing around this just really fascinating. And now Ricky Javasan got that fucking cat show, whatever, cat Netflix. No, he doesn't make that up. It was an animated thing or whatever, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:31:52 That's just you're spinning your wheels and we've run out of gas by the end of the podcast and you're like, what if Ricky DeVay's had a Netflix cat, cat thing? No. I'm shooting this one down. Yeah. Like, and also like anybody, maybe people love his stand-up, but like, I think it's really tame and bad. Wow.
Starting point is 01:32:10 Which is not a hot take either. Like, a lot of people think that. It's a shame. I don't know. It's, you know, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's a, it's like a weird parody of himself at this point. And he clearly is affected by stuff, which is the oddest.
Starting point is 01:32:26 Because didn't you have a friend who like just tweeted randomly at Ricky Javis and not even to him and he like found him and like replied to him? Maybe. Like he would do stuff like that. Yeah, I know that does happen. Yeah. Anyway, he's a catty bitch.
Starting point is 01:32:42 And I appreciate that about him though. That is true actually, yeah. Yeah, very good. That's it, the office. It's good. You've seen the original office. Also, I've mentioned this before on the podcast, but you haven't seen Detectorists.
Starting point is 01:32:53 Speaking of McKinsey Crook. Mackenzie Crook has a new show, which he mentioned, which I was like, oh, I should watch that. And I can't remember what it was. Bring it up, but Detectorist is a show with him, I think created by him, and it's him and Toby Jones as best friends in a sort of rural town in England, and their hobby is getting out in the land
Starting point is 01:33:11 with metal detectors because they're trying to find, you know, ancient Anglo-Saxon treasure or whatever it is. And maybe they never find the treasure. but maybe the treasure was friendship. Or maybe they just find the treasure. Maybe they find some treasure in the end of the third season or whatever. Oh, so he has a show called Small Profits, which six episodes is apparently quite good, which he wrote and maybe directed some of.
Starting point is 01:33:31 Okay, terrific. So there you go. Six episodes, typical, UK, typical. Typical. Six episodes, wait three years, get another two episodes. Typical, typical. Always putting their best stuff out there, typical. Typical, yuck. I mean, I was thinking about the other day, Garth Marengi's Dark Place.
Starting point is 01:33:45 Typical. Just the idea of like, that is the, that is the, that is the, platonic ideal of the reason British shows are like that. Yes. Because there's no wasted time. There's no filler. They're not like,
Starting point is 01:33:56 how do we build this series up for five seasons? It's just like you may never get another one, put all the best stuff on, get the best guys you can, put it all out there and, and, you know, maybe you never get another one.
Starting point is 01:34:09 And he hasn't, no, he is in the office. Yeah, he's in two really funny scenes. But no, like, that is,
Starting point is 01:34:15 that's the perfect. Yeah. It's the absolute ideal of what that is. Totally. But he has done, if you haven't. It's done like stage readings or something. And he's done audiobooks as well. He's done Garth Mringy's Territone, which is a bunch of, you know.
Starting point is 01:34:30 Because he's like a knockoff Stephen King. Yeah, and it's very much in that style of like, you know. Isn't this spooky? Isn't this spooky and isn't this character the absolute best? Yeah. Anyway, terrific stuff. Triific stuff. Should we do the next segment of the show?
Starting point is 01:34:42 Yes, it's letters. Yeah. He's the letters theme. Oh, I'll allow. I hope. Will you? Mm-hmm. I can't wait to hear what wacky character you think brought the letters this week, Mason.
Starting point is 01:35:02 Oh, nobody does. Some people just email in to weekly planetpotter Gmail.com, and I just look at the... Those wacky characters. I just look at the Gmail app. Wacky stuff, Mason. I've got it set up for my personal account, but also the weekly planet podcast. And I just go through and I just look at them. And sometimes they're, you know...
Starting point is 01:35:16 I can't go with you on this one, Mason. This is too crazy, even by your standards. Sorry. It was brought by the Silla, the Big C, C monster. Okay. From The Odyssey. All right, yeah. But the letter, it's a six-armed monster, but the letters are so big, it could only provide me with three.
Starting point is 01:35:33 Three letters, because it's two hands. Two hands per letter. Wow. Yeah. Yep. That's a great riff. It's also a planet broadcasting. That's not a riff.
Starting point is 01:35:40 That was the truth. The riff I tried was the thing about looking in the Gmail line. This is the truth. Planet Broadcasting Greatmates group. There's also a Facebook thread every week. Oh. What have got in terms of John Letters? What are you doing about this,
Starting point is 01:35:50 James, this is a hot, this is, this may contain spoilers, specifically for the Batman part two. Haven't seen it. Yeah, neither of I. That's why it might be spoilers. So if you're concerned about spoilers, I'm an email that may not even real. I guess I'm not. Okay, good. I can get another letter. No, fuck it.
Starting point is 01:36:06 All right. This is from Russell. Hi, lads. Hope you well. I mean, I'm fine. James is going through it. See what this is Russell. If that is your real name, fake-ass tree noise name.
Starting point is 01:36:16 My nephew works at Warner Bros. Studios in the youth. Okay, all right. Michael works at Nintendo, man. Michael also works at Nintendo. What? Yeah. You know my uncle? Probably.
Starting point is 01:36:27 Probably. Okay, cool. Probably. Are they working on the Nintendo Switch 4? Yeah. Skipping one? Yeah. As a prank?
Starting point is 01:36:33 I won't say which department in order to protect his identity. It's probably in the Nintendo department. Cool. Yeah, probably. Yeah, yeah. He's seen some of the sets for the Batman 2. It's only minor info for now. One, a junkyard.
Starting point is 01:36:44 Two, a ballroom. Okay. Three, men and women moving between sets, dressed in suits wearing owl masks. I knew. It seems the quarter of ours will be making its live action debut. Well, that's all for now. I'll reach out when I hear more.
Starting point is 01:36:57 Or your nephew's fired. Yeah. Because they figure this out. They're very good. Name him. I'm not going to. Name the nephew and the man. Russell?
Starting point is 01:37:05 Yep. Russell leaves, you said? Russell leaves, that's right. Russell leaves like in the forest. Is it Russell or is it Rustle? It's Rustle. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:37:14 All right, cool. But don't give us like, I mean, I love it. But don't want explicit spoilers. And then Batman does this and then Batman does this and then Batman does that. Why, it says Russell Crow? He's famous. Yeah, he's famous.
Starting point is 01:37:25 He would know, wouldn't he? No, thank you for that. That's cool. Good night, boys. There's kind of hits in the Batman that there's like quarterbell stuff or maybe this coincidence from American. But no masks, are there?
Starting point is 01:37:35 Maybe there is in one particular scene. Maybe Bruce Wayne's the mask. Bruce Wayne, he's not the mask. That's Jim Carrey. That's cool. Thank you, Russell. I'm sorry for you. Robert Pattinson could be a good, the mask.
Starting point is 01:37:45 He would. He's got the chin and head for it. He's got the chin and the head for it. The twitch and he's oily. He's oily. oily so it'd be easy to get the mask on and off. Slip it up. But that might be a problem. Because it's always falling off. He's doing a big
Starting point is 01:37:56 icerumba or whatever. That's exactly. Whatever the mask does these days. Yeah, that's right. He wouldn't do anything like that because that's politically incorrect. Yeah, you're probably right. Isaac Dimmick says, how do you feel about the accessibility? Dimmock, like the bookshop? Like the book shop.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Whoa! Spelled differently. Accessibility of the Odyssey in the 70mmmm format it was intended for. To me, it does feel a bit absurd to have a film more expensive and harder to access in the way the director intended. Hmm. Well... I mean, you can still access it, obviously.
Starting point is 01:38:24 Yeah, eventually. I mean, just regular-sized. I mean, some people have said that and you see people and it makes sense to think about it. People are like, well, why don't they just put that in or put the IMAX format with black bars on the side in a regular cinema? Okay, yeah. But I think the answer is because... Box it up. They won't allow it.
Starting point is 01:38:41 I think people would complain. Yeah, they would. They would complain. Why don't I get enough movie? But the IMAX is a format, but it's also a brand and a company. IMAX stands, of course, for I love maximum amount of movie, which is the philosophy of the founder. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:38:57 Tom Cruise. Yes. The X stands for Zeno. Go on. That's right. But I would suspect it's basically, even if you could get a projector that could project it onto a regular movie screen, I would say the contract says you're not allowed to do it. Because people would be like, like you said, why is it so small and weird?
Starting point is 01:39:19 Why is my movie square? Wise about movie square. So they'd be like, that's right out. Like, I'm sure you could technically Jerry Rigger projected to do that. Yeah. But they wouldn't. They wouldn't lay. It's like why it's like if you said why won't, why can't I see Netflix shows off Netflix?
Starting point is 01:39:34 Because they won't, they won't allow it. That's probably right. Yeah. I don't mind it. I mean, yeah, it is a luxury to be able to pay more or even just live somewhere where you can see it like this. It's only one in Australia. And so it's fortunate it's near us. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:39:46 It's not even big IMAX though. No. I think there's even bigger IMAX. even bigger iMacs than that. Whoa, that's crazy. We're going to need a bigger imax, man. Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:56 But the fact, I think it would be a problem if it was unavailable or it was a much worse experience if you don't see it like that. Yeah. If it's like, well, you don't get key elements of this movie. That's true, yeah. And again, like, because what happens usually is when they do the advertisement for the movie in iMacs, they show a still from the movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:16 And in our case, it's the still for the, Odyssey, it's Matt Damon meeting Agamemnon, so it's just the big brushes on their head. More hair, more brush. More brush. So we're not missing that much, I think. Exactly. We didn't even care. We don't even care.
Starting point is 01:40:30 We don't even want to see more movie. Yeah. I brought a less movie. I do actually. Yeah, more movies. I want to see a big movie. Big movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:39 That's interesting. It's interesting. And we can say that. We can definitely say that. Yeah. He's named after Miller. Yep. It's Miller time, folks.
Starting point is 01:40:46 Is it? Yeah. Yep. He hasn't said that, but I've decided. 42 p.m. That's Militam. Oh, is it? Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 01:40:52 Sorry, go on. Maybe if someone's listening to us and it's 5.30 to 4.4 p.m. They'll blow their freaking minds. Or AM. Yeah. Yeah. Or a different time. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:00 People will make links no matter what the time is. Yeah. 4242? Yep. Yeah. It's only an hour away. Still 542, by the way. Just letting you know.
Starting point is 01:41:10 What's next? I'll let you know when it changes. Miller says, gooday, boys. My name's Miller. Yeah, we know Miller. It's Miller time. It's Miller time. Hello from Massachusetts
Starting point is 01:41:19 I'm a big fan of bands like Modest Mouse And even as a Massachusetts resident I could not care less about Dinosaur Jr. A Massachusetts? Well, I like Dinosaur Jr. I don't know Dinosaur Jr. My question for you fellas
Starting point is 01:41:31 Is do you have any movies or music or anything else that you feel like you should like and just can't get into based on other things you're into? I think I've mentioned this before but Doctor Who is something I should get into Like that feels like a thing where I'm like Did you invent this for me? But I don't like it.
Starting point is 01:41:45 Did you, you know what I'm... I like some of it. Yeah, for sure. Anything like Warcraft kind of, what's that? You know, Warhammer shit. Like, they're different. Warhammer 40,000? That.
Starting point is 01:41:58 Warcraft? Warcraft. Okay. Anime. Yeah, right. It's just too vast. Wrestling. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:42:04 Sure, sure, sure. Yeah, I just don't. More music. Like, I've been trying to listen to more music, but music. Yeah. Yeah. I've said this before, but a lot of people, based on the look that I have, most people assume I'm like a call of duty guy or like,
Starting point is 01:42:17 like that, I'm like, no man. No, man. That requires reflex. You're a Fortnite boy. Yeah, that's exactly right. Yeah. Because I've got the rhythm. You do, you get a lot of rhythm.
Starting point is 01:42:25 You're doing the thing that you do. Yep. The Elaine dance. That's right. You know, I'm not really into, and my son is running one, and I'm really enjoying it. He's running a D&D campaign for like the family. Oh. Which is really awesome.
Starting point is 01:42:41 Okay. He's the dungeon on master. He's a dungeon on master. But I cannot. I cannot with you, son. Not with him. Totally. I love it.
Starting point is 01:42:48 But like in other situations, I'm just like, I just can't with this. Like, it's a massive time sink. And I, oftentimes I'm just like, we just roll on fucking dice, man. We just have it. We're just adding dice up here. You're not a goblin. That's why he has all those dice. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:43:05 Yeah. But like watching him create a world. Like, yeah, 100%. I mean, I did play when I was like a young teenager, but I don't know if I could get into any more. It's the micromanaging. And I've done it on podcast. I've done it with, um,
Starting point is 01:43:16 Sanspans and that's a lot of fun. To me that's also, you know, you know what it is. I'm also, I think in, what I've enjoyed, like doing that, we did it with,
Starting point is 01:43:25 I did with Dragon Friends once and there's some other stuff. What I like about that sort of situation is I just build an entirely throwaway character. Yeah. Or they just provide me with one. And I'm just like, all right.
Starting point is 01:43:36 No homework. No homework. I don't have to think about this and be like, oh, what should I put in my spell slots or whatever? It's just like, or even just like you can just click a button and a character will be generated randomly.
Starting point is 01:43:46 And I'm like, okay I'm this guy now and if I die that's alright yep throw the throw the character shoot away and I'll do it again totally give me another one also if you're not related then second guy's not related this he's a different guy different random if you want us to show up to your podcast or even an event in real life no homework yeah no don't make us prep that's right and that goes for anybody going anywhere yeah don't make anybody prep for anything yeah that's right mason yeah benjamin says the odyssey got me thinking once again and I know you can speak to this about the versatile actor John Leguizamo.
Starting point is 01:44:19 What are some of your favorite Johnny Legg's roles? Cool. Yes. Podcasts. Oh, yeah. This is a podcast wrecked time. That's true.
Starting point is 01:44:26 I mean, our friends, Mission Zach, had a podcast for a number of years, so many years called Mission Zach's Leguizama. Where they talk... Wrap it up. Well, they did.
Starting point is 01:44:33 Yeah, I don't. But every week they talked about character actor John Leguizamo's various roles. And each week they watched a different, you know, they watched a different dog off a clock. I was on that a couple of times. Were you on it? I never got on it.
Starting point is 01:44:45 They never asked me. Maybe because I needed homework. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. They're doing different aramas now. They do different things. They did a run on Star Trek. They're doing... They did a Ferengue Rama.
Starting point is 01:44:56 Yes, Frangirama. Yeah. And currently they're doing movie musicals, I think. Yeah. But what is my favorite Johnny Legs roll? Ooh, great question. Romeo and Juliet. Yeah, he's fun in that.
Starting point is 01:45:09 But that's just a good... It's a beautiful looking movie. Yeah. I finally found a place that'll make me a... Leonardo DiCaprio in the shirt? The shirt, yeah. They weren't making that? No, it's sort of, yeah, I don't know where they got the original one,
Starting point is 01:45:25 but I've been looking for years and I found out. Are you going to open it up? What does that mean? Put a singleton. Yeah, put a singleton. Is that what he was doing? Maybe, probably. I don't know, man.
Starting point is 01:45:33 God, he's been in so much good stuff. Oh, he's in diet too. I didn't know that. Super Mario Brothers, obviously. Romeo plus Juliet, you mentioned. Yeah. The pest? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:42 I mean, Sporn is not a great movie, but he's really good in Sporn. It's true. He's funny Moulin Rouge. I like his Ice Age guy. You know what? I thought, I think the first thing I remember seeing him in was Moulon Rouge. And I thought he was a really short guy. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:45:55 Because they did the shoes on the knees thing or whatever they did to make him look short. I feel like he wouldn't be huge. But yeah. Oh, he's great in Khalido's way. Oh, I didn't see Khaled his way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The John Wicks. Yes, he's in some of the John Wicks.
Starting point is 01:46:10 Some of the John Wicks. Some of the John Wicks. Yeah. So this is 5'4 6. Okay. Well, he looks shorter in the movie. Yeah, because he's on his knees. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:17 With the shoes. With the shoes, man. Yes. Yeah. Cool. All right, you got another letter? I do. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:24 He's also in Tuong Fu. Thanks for everything, Julian Umar. Yeah. Which is America's to the adventures of Cusela of the desert. It's not as good. Agreed. But it's not by that it's charm. He's the last email presented by Cilla the same monster.
Starting point is 01:46:36 Whoa! I don't know about this. Well, it's true. The other thing I said was true. I forgot. It's from Arjun. Hi, Jen. Big Phena of the podcast.
Starting point is 01:46:43 Me too. I really wish this was a joke, but it's not. I had a terrible dream where a man I hadn't heard of until I started you guys way back and had seen a picture of maybe twice, appeared to me in a dream. In my dream, I just arrived at my local mall during a snowstorm at night time. When I parked my car, a mysterious man appeared
Starting point is 01:46:57 and started walking towards my car. I checked to make sure the doors were locked. He tried to open my car door, and when he couldn't, he simply stared and said to me, I'm Irver Ball. I then pulled the car out and started driving away as fast as I could. He then teleported in front of the road, and I ran him over. When I got home, somebody knocked on the door.
Starting point is 01:47:12 It was his lawyer. I was getting sued by Irver Ball. But he died. Yeah, also that was real. That wasn't a dream you had. That was a real thing that happened. You have a court date. Yeah, he, he, he, he's a, his lawyer emailed us as well. He, he's, he's, he looked to sit in the email. You are getting sued for running over over bowling in your house. Well, that's best case in a case, because sometimes he beats up people he doesn't like. Sometimes he beats you up. Yeah, that's true. Did you see citizen vigilante? No, I didn't see citizen vigilante. Yeah, he's going to. No. Didn't army cry after he said. Yeah, he was like, oh, I didn't sign up for this. Yes, you did. What are you talking about? Yes, you did Army Hammer. It's a, it's fucking Uffat. Ball. Oh, man. It is interesting because for people who don't know,
Starting point is 01:47:50 Irvey Ball, up until maybe the mid-2000s, he got all these movies funded because there was a German tax loophole or scheme or something, where if you invested in his movie, that was a 100% tax write off or something like that. And again, I don't know how to avoid paying taxes. I wish I did, but I assume that if you use that in a clever way, you could just pay no tax. And so people with money would, you know, pay for all these movies. And then since then he's paid for all these movies himself, I think. Incredible.
Starting point is 01:48:21 Which is, you know, that's interesting. Yeah, I guess that is interesting. Has he done? He must have done a good movie. Just purely. Yeah, let's have a look. Don't people like the postal, one of the postal movies? The one where he kills the president?
Starting point is 01:48:34 I don't know if that's the one. Okay. Or were they, is it a trilogy of kind of, to people like in the name of the king, the Jason Statham one? I probably do. Where he plays Farmer. People have talked about, can we do it for Caravada Garbage?
Starting point is 01:48:50 And I just don't think... Yeah. People are going to mention Blabarella. He did do Blabarella. Yeah, that's right. Yeah, Rampage President Down. That's a movie. We've done this.
Starting point is 01:49:02 Yeah. We've done this. Wasn't... Yeah, no, we have. No, okay, none of these. This is a less exciting version of the time we did this bit. Wasn't he going to call Citizen Vigilante The Dark.
Starting point is 01:49:12 He was, yes. And then they made him change it? Yeah, absolutely. I think that's cool and good. And he's also the guy that was like, how dare they make this movie called Rampage? You stole the idea. And then you make a movie called The Dark Night. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:49:25 Brilliant stuff. It's almost like he doesn't understand or care about anything. Wow. It's almost like that. Wow, big call. Yeah, anyway, I hope he's caught case goes wild. Me too. This is from Okay-Kan-Kan-Oakin, who says,
Starting point is 01:49:39 I've recently learned that there's about the incredible Australian show, the twist. Simply, what the fuck? In one episode, our main man, Bronson, swallows a fish by accident.
Starting point is 01:49:47 Turns out this fish goes into your dick when swallowed, so he decides to use the fish as a propeller and swims really fast swimming in competitions and even fly like highly copped to save his brother?
Starting point is 01:49:57 And that episode won an award? I don't remember that episode. I need an explanation. That must have been in the latest seasons of round the twist. I don't recall a lot of... A lot of these movies, these shows are strange shows.
Starting point is 01:50:07 Some of these are horrifying. Yeah, a lot of the shows from that era, I just know as they were on. I don't know if I watched all of them. There's a horrifying scarecrow clown episode.
Starting point is 01:50:17 There's one where their house gets bird shitted so much it gets completely drowned out. Oh, wow. There's one where a boy gets hypnotized into a to a churns a chicken and he eats some snails.
Starting point is 01:50:30 There's one where Bronson wants to piss. Charles Bronson. Yeah, Bronson wants to win a pissing competition at school. So he meets a magic water lady. So that'll do most, the longest, Piss or the highest piss
Starting point is 01:50:42 highest piss? Okay. For the urinal. Okay. It sounds like I'm making this up. Yeah. Well, somebody did. It was Paul Jennings.
Starting point is 01:50:50 It was Paul Jennings. There's one where there's a magical pair of underpants and you put them on and then you can also swim really fast and be really strong. Huh. But then he peat, uh, Pete twist, he goes and swims in the water and they shrink. And then they put them on a frog at the end and the frog wins a frog competition. Oh, a frog wins a frog competition. Wow.
Starting point is 01:51:09 Typical of a frog. I'm not making this up. Paul Jennings made it up. Yeah, okay. I know they say you can't say anything or make anything anymore. And that's mostly not true. I don't think that they would, the ABC,
Starting point is 01:51:21 who was like the government broadcast. They gave Bluey away. They would never pay for round the twist these days. That's crazy. They do a tame reboot. They would do a tame reboot. But you know, people probably know this,
Starting point is 01:51:32 but they gave Bluey away. Yeah, the merchandising rights to like the BBC or whatever. Yeah, great. Cool, really good. Yeah, no, they would, certain media, people would be up in arms if they were like, oh, they're making a show where children are pissing, are they?
Starting point is 01:51:46 Children are urinating on screen. I bet they are. I bet you see everything. No, they don't insane media commentators. Well, so kids are pissing all over TikTok. That's right. They think it's funny. They think it's funny.
Starting point is 01:51:57 They think it's funny these TikTok kids. Is that the episode? That's the whole episode, folks. Thank you so much for listening. I haven't seen this dickfish one. It sounds as made up as all the ones I said, but it's probably real. Yeah, there might be somebody just adding odd episodes

Starting point is 01:52:47 It's the Australian pizza The only Australian pizza I like is from around the twist It's got piss on it? It's probably got piss and dickfish It's all over Piss and Dickfish All over it When your pizza, wow
Starting point is 01:52:56 Little underpants Yuck They're magic Oh Michael Aploc Because he's magic because he put them in the microwave Oh of course He dried his underpants before school
Starting point is 01:53:08 Strange things happen when you go around the twist And when you put your jocks in the microwave. Yeah, sure, sure. Michael A plus Jordan says, so good. Makes me want to drink fosters and be British. Australians, don't drink fosters. All British. That's true.
