Starting point is 00:00:02 Welcome Brack, everybody, to another episode of the weekly planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday. And with me as always is my co-ist Nick Mason. James, thank you so much. Welcome to me here. And great reference to the character Brack from Space Ghost. There was actually a reference to Steve Brack, our former Premier of Victoria. Steve Brack.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Steve Brack. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Not Brack Obama? Oh, yeah. I forgot about him. It's a reference.
Starting point is 00:00:29 He wasn't our Premier. No, was he? No. What's your question? What do I have to do? Should we start again? Yeah, we should. Anyways, Mason, do you know what we're talking about this week?
Starting point is 00:00:40 Is it Coyote versus Acme? It certainly is, Mason. The film. The film, that's right. It's been out for a while, but we finally both got a chance to see it. We're waiting on you to see it. I saw it already. I know, and then you saw it.
Starting point is 00:00:49 When I realized you'd see it, I realized you'd see it, I'll see it too a week or so later, and I've done it. Terrific. But we've got other things to talk about. I'd like to think so. Well, next week we're going to talk about the Tom Cruise action vehicle. Is that what it is? No. He's doing a weird one.
Starting point is 00:01:05 He hasn't done a weird one in like 15 years. I mean, he's done a weird one. Yeah, yeah. I guess it depends on how you define he's done a weird one. Are we including elements of his private life? No, he's unknowable at this point. Okay, then he hasn't done a weird one publicly. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:01:20 I might get a chance to see Avengers Encore this week, the Endgame Encore. I wasn't going to see it, but my son was like, I would like to see Avengers End game in cinema. And I'm like, I've seen Avengers. Oh, wait, you haven't. Yeah. You should have been born a few years earlier. Because you were four or whatever when it came out.
Starting point is 00:01:37 And if I dragged you to that, it would have melted your brain. So I might talk about that a bit. There's two ant-mans in this scene. Why? Yeah, why? I don't know, something to do with dimensions or something? Ask Michael Douglas in real life. Maybe one of them is Michael Douglas.
Starting point is 00:01:51 One of them is Michael Douglas. Are you going to see that or are you? Nope. Yeah, I think that's probably the correct stratagem. Ain't got no time. Mason, you're a busy man. And everybody knows that about you. You were on a podcast, weren't you?
Starting point is 00:02:03 That's how busy you are. Thank you. James, thank you so much. You're welcome. Thank you for that wonderful segue. And welcome, Brack. So what were you saying? This week, I was in, actually a couple of weeks ago,
Starting point is 00:02:14 I was an episode of podcast, do go on. Oh, must be nice. It was nice. Yeah, I bet it was. Yeah, but it was. We had a good, fun time. And we talked about, we learned all about Operation Chariot, the greatest rate of all time.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Why, what are they called the greatest rate of all time? Because it was cool as hell. But what was cool about? What did they do in Operation Charriot? Well, spoiler alert, they smashed a destroyer into like a big, like a big gate. A destroyer like a, like a ship. That's pretty cool, I guess. Pretty cool, right?
Starting point is 00:02:38 On purpose? That was an accident. Oh, no. But afterwards, they were like, this was a raid, actually. It was actually a World War II raid. And we got you. Yeah, and they had to fake World War II. Just pretend the whole thing was real.
Starting point is 00:02:52 The whole thing was real. Yeah. And we're bringing you the truth. Well, good, finally. Anyway, we had a fun time. People should listen to that. Would you say that's linked below if Rob Collings did that? I would think so if he did that.
Starting point is 00:03:02 That's great. Congratulations. Well, this is something we did also for the big sandwich or Patreon or it's going to be on our YouTube membership. We did look at the comic Green Lantern Far Sector. That's right, yeah. Which is a newer Green Lantern story about a new Green Lantern policing a world far, far away. That's wacky as hell. It's wacky as hell.
Starting point is 00:03:25 It's like, I don't understand. Some of these people are playing people. some of them live in meme world. Yeah, I was really interesting to read and talk about. Sarabi did the edit on that, who always does an amazing job. And I just found it a really interesting read. Did we get any feedback from Sarabi on whether she thought it was weird as hell?
Starting point is 00:03:39 She did think it was weird as how. And yes, and we talk about that in the video. Terrific. Yeah. So, yeah, if you want to check that, that's a bonus thing. Bonus exclusive thing. It's also about solving a murder. Because you picked it and like, oh, it's a solving a murder.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Like the Green Lantern show, sort of, but then not at all. Not at all. But it's interesting. Yeah. Also, Mason, this time goes below if you want to jump to anything, including Cody V. Ackney, we're going to talk about the first look at the hunt for Gollum or a new look. We're going to talk trailers Ahoi. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Including trailers for Ray Gun, the final trailer for Clayface and Gremlin's three. What? I thought that wasn't real. Also, it's not the Ray Gun you're thinking of. No. It's not the Raygun that is currently top of mind in people's memories because of the Netflix documentary and the Olympics and etc. It's a different Raygun.
Starting point is 00:04:25 That's right. Also, the most famous, Australian person at the moment is that woman who shit herself at high rocks. Raygun is old news. That's exactly right. So wait for that documentary. Yeah. The internet moves at the speed of thought now.
Starting point is 00:04:37 She's old news. Raygun's in her office or whatever going, damn you woman at high rocks. Damn it. It's probably the most famous Australian right now. It's probably, whoever got the Norm Smith medal. Oh yeah, whoever was that was.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Because of footy finals fever. I, mate. We've more got footy finest fever than this room. The Lions won again. They did. That's for the people who didn't watch the live telecast of the grand final, the Australian football grand final, and have decided to wait and listen to our podcast before they watch the replay.
Starting point is 00:05:09 The Lions won. They did. Real nail biter. In the end, it was a nail biter. And they beat the Fremantle Man. They did beat the Fremantle Man. Remember when you said a year ago that the loser of the AFL Grand Final should all line up in a spoon full of poo?
Starting point is 00:05:25 Now listen. Out of context, that seems weird. Oh, no, it wasn't out of nowhere. There was years of law built behind it. Because what happens is, James, to be clear, what happens is when, at the end of the Australian Rules Football Grand Final, what happens is the winning team all line up, all the players line up, and there's a bunch of little kids, I don't know where they get the little kids. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:48 They don't simply related to the players. No, but that could be an element. I think it's lucky, just lucky young people. Yeah, lucky young kids. Anyway, each one of them goes up to one of the players. is in order and gives them a medal. The player wears the medal and then the football player
Starting point is 00:06:03 gives the kid a hat. And that's their commemorative hat. And then I said... And they give them a little tussle. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And sometimes the player just leaves. They just forget. They just walk off at the kids without a hat.
Starting point is 00:06:14 And I assume, like the coach gives them a hat or whatever, but it's not the same. Anyway, I said that it would be funny if on the other side of the ground the loser is supplied with something other than metal. Yeah. what I said. That's what I said. And I stand by it. I think it's great what you've done. Yeah. Yeah. And the little kid gets a clip around here. Well, that gets a clip. That's fair enough.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Yeah. I like it. Yeah. But also, I think what it should be, because we don't, I don't know where the kids are from. You said maybe random luck of the drawer or whatever. Maybe the kids should be the children of the players. Oh, okay. So the losing, the losing players' children can be like, come on, dad. Why are you embarrassing me like this? What have you done to be? Yeah. Well, this is great, and I like it. Thank you. We're also going to talk some delays in movies.
Starting point is 00:07:02 But dismayes? Yes, including Gremlin Sue, but also dynamic duo. You know about this? I didn't know about this. It's the Robbins movie that I know about this. No, it's getting delayed slightly. Oh, no. And then we're going to do some hot quick news.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Oh, it's time for hot quick news. Not yet, it isn't, but it will be later. Soon it's time for hot quick news. That's right. Get your fire and assorted whipping implements ready. That's right. you have to provide your own. Yep.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Let's start with this. Did you see the first look at Frodo Baggins from the Hunt for God? Oh, thank you to Rob Collings time code. Did I say that? Did you see the first look? No, I didn't see the first look. Dude, you're going to love this. This is Frodo Baggins.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Wait, and he's the... Don't tell me. He's the elder Baggins. No, he's a little one. He's the younger Baggins in the Hunt... Oh, because this is a mid-call. It's Elijah Wood. That's terrific.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Elijah's back. He's Frodo Baggins. Lige's back, as they always say. He's at Hobarton and that's good. Okay, if you say so. And you'll never guess who's watching him and filming the same. A peeping Tom? No.
Starting point is 00:08:00 It's direct to Andy Circus. Okay, then good. What do you think of this, Mason? Looks all right. It looks like... He's wearing some technical wear. There's certainly is. There's some other bits and pieces.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Oh, the images that have been... I can scroll through this. You know, he's got the people of Hobarton. A few folks there, yep. Yep, yep, sure. Cool. Okay, yep. A bunch of white people in clothes.
Starting point is 00:08:21 and whatever. Yep. Great. This is great. Some kids, they're holding rings? Do you think that's a reference to the Lord of the Rings? Yes, I think it is actually. Wow.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I say wow. God, living in olden time sucks. But you don't have your phone, which is bad because you can't go and Reddit. What I was going to say? To talk about how much this life sucks. Yeah, that's right. Hashtag Hobarton residence. Wait, what do they do?
Starting point is 00:08:46 R slash Hobbiton residence? Yeah, yeah, yeah. This sucks. Anybody who noticed his town sucks? Everyone knows we're small I don't even like 11s's What does it make sense We don't even care about time or anything
Starting point is 00:08:57 For each other, I don't know We're lazy or we work really hard on carrots I don't know What about second breakfast I don't have shoes I think that's bad Yeah Can I have it wear
Starting point is 00:09:07 He or she would wear like normal human size boots Presumably right? I guess so yeah That's cool You found a lot of rings I'm gonna do a run to man's world And get some big shoes Anybody who wants shoes
Starting point is 00:09:18 No. You asking me? No. I'm good, I got shoes. Okay. I'm just me. You got shoes? I'm just here.
Starting point is 00:09:26 I'm me. I'm not playing a character. Wow. I'm in Hobarton and I'm like, I'm good, I got shoes. I just came to look at all these little freaks. Oh, okay. They couldn't stop me. I'd be invincible.
Starting point is 00:09:36 That'll cost you a copper piece. No, it won't. I'm big. It doesn't cost me anything. You think the hobbits couldn't bring you down, brother? The only thing it's going to cost you was me punching you in the face. I think they could take you. How many?
Starting point is 00:09:49 They didn't even fight. There's so many of them. Yeah, but... Are they all little daggers? This, no, they don't. Only like Bilbo does. I guess Bilbo... I get him, he's got the ring.
Starting point is 00:09:59 I get him first, obviously. Obviously. And then I get the ring. And then I... You think he's not going to put the ring on straight away? He would stab you with a little of life. I go and I'd knock on his door and he'd have to be polite. And I'd go in and I'd just kill him with a big wheel of cheese.
Starting point is 00:10:13 You know, you know what happens to... Yeah, in your dreams, brother. What happens is you show up and you call. and you cause a ruckus and you're like, nobody's gonna stop me, I'm a human, I'm bigger than you,
Starting point is 00:10:23 whatever, and then you're just standing there all smug, and then just like 10 puncture wounds appear in your sternum from apparently from nowhere and you're like,
Starting point is 00:10:31 you think I'm gonna come in and be like no one can stop me or whatever? Yeah. I come in, I'll be like, I'm a magical fucking whatever.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I'm here to do magical, I'd probably, I'd dazzle them because I'd have like, I don't know, I'd just bring a flashlight. I wouldn't even need anything. Just whatever's in my pockets.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Oh, is a flashlight in your pocket right now? It might be, yes, I've got a telephones, got a flashlight on it or whatever. So I'm coming in and they're like, this guy's amazing. This is like that Gandalf fellow that shows up every eight years. You wouldn't make it all the way to Hobarton
Starting point is 00:11:00 with a full charge on your phone. Your phone would be dead. I'd turn it off. You think I'm going to go in, I'd just follow the rickety road or whatever. I'd go in with my phone off. There'd be signs all the way saying the Shire, etc. And I've seen the movie, so I know, right?
Starting point is 00:11:15 I know that. And I go in, I go to, Fucking Frodo or Bilbo's door. Oh, also, if it's in this era of Hunt for Golem. Yeah. Bilbo's not even there. That's true. So, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:26 He's off with the owl dying. I reckon there's, I reckon there. I reckon somebody's there who's going to mess you up. You think Farmer Maggot is going to kill me with a pitchfork? I don't know what that is. I'll kill him. I'll pit him to the ground with my foot and then put it through his fucking head. Wow.
Starting point is 00:11:41 I reckon you get killed by a dog or something. No way, man. I think you would. I reckon you'd step on a nail before you'd, got there and died of tetanus. You'd be dragging yourself into that town. Help, help. And they'd nurse me back to help.
Starting point is 00:11:54 Can any freaks help? Are there any freaks out there who could help me? Yeah, they'd help me. They'd nurse me back to help. And then I'd kill them all. Fair enough. Okay. I agreed.
Starting point is 00:12:04 They'd be like, he can pull our big plow for us and like, and I maybe would for like a week just to gain their trust. Then you'd kill them all. Okay. Wow. Wow. You think I couldn't do it? I think you could do that.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Yeah. Okay. Anyways, this is out December 17th of 2027. That's too long. I'm going to forget about it. Sorry, for those people that don't know, it's set in, there's a period in the movies where... Of the Lord of the Rings. The Lord of the Rings, the First Month, near the start where Gandalf goes to find out if the ring is real or whatever.
Starting point is 00:12:36 And him and Strider, who's Aragon, go and find Golem, whatever. Oh, yes. And in that time period, in the book, it's like 17 years. It's not that in the movie, maybe, I don't know. It's a week, probably. It's probably a week or whatever. So you'd have 17 years to cause a ruckus in Hobarton. I wouldn't need it.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I was going to say. I need a couple of weeks to recover from my injuries. Yeah. And then a week to pull the plow. Yep. And then probably three days killing. Not even. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:00 I could do it on the afternoon, I reckon. Yeah. Yeah. Be cool. I could probably get them all in a barn. I said the barn. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah. I'll be like, something's loose. And I'll get him in the barn. And then I'd just something magical or whatever. I'll be like, there's a dragon or a fucking bear. I don't know. afraid of. And then I just light the barn on fire. Okay. Yeah. And then you just wait 16 and a half years for Gandalf to come back or whatever. Yeah, yeah. And then I'll pretend I didn't do it. And
Starting point is 00:13:28 there are no cameras. There are no cameras. He couldn't prove it. Uh, all right. And then there's a Stephen Colbert one. He's doing one as well. Yeah, that's right. About something, something, something, some obscure bit of lore. Yeah, some crap. All right. Trails away Mason. Tonguing. Tingling. Yeah, it is. We finally got the first look at Raygun. Which is a Brad Bird film, and you can tell it's a Brad Bird film. Short for Raymond Gunston. Matt Mike is great. He's related to his cousins with Norman Gunston.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Is he? Yep. That's great news. Yeah, it's good news. So Brad Bird, of course, directed The Incredibles, but he also did the Iron Giant. And any movie where it looks like the 50s, but it's the future. Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is another good example.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Mission Impossible Four. That looks to the 50s and the future, correct. That's right. All those things. Sem Rockwell plays Raymond Ray Gunn. Stun. Stun, yeah. And Scarleto Hanson plays Venus Nova, a famous pop star,
Starting point is 00:14:22 and Tom Waits plays I era, an alien, and Matt Berry plays Francis Slugsy Xavier. There's some good voices, I'll tell you that much. I agree. Oh, we've got a Bobby Carnivali, we've got an Alan Tudik. Oh, all good voices. We've got Pat Nosswald, who just says, as a hologram. This is good.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Okay. Brad Bird's doing a voice. Because he's had to mo. That's true, yeah. Yeah. And this is his passion project. He's been talking about his past ages. After Tomorrowland.
Starting point is 00:14:47 I think he was like, well, Tomorrowland's my passion project, and that didn't pan out particularly well. And he goes, I was joking. I was just kidding, actually. That was stupid. That was stupid. I did that for a joke. That was me just birding around.
Starting point is 00:14:58 You know how I'm always burden about and burden around? That's me. Peck, Peck, making some movie for nobody. That's me. That's exactly. That was a joke. And the jokes on you. You fell for it.
Starting point is 00:15:08 The viewing audience. Why not seeing it. Yeah. Just what I want. Anyway, this is his new and real passion project, which is Ray Gunn. Now, it is interesting. it's not a Pixar film, it's a Netflix film. But he said this about it, because I'm like, why would he not do this at Pixar?
Starting point is 00:15:23 Maybe because they didn't want to fund it. Maybe. Also, it's being produced by John Lasseter. Maybe that's why. Maybe that is why. He did one for Apple, didn't he, luck or lucky or something? The Pixar audience is white. Lucky, the Lucky app.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Sorry, what you're saying? The lucky app that loves and learns to breathe or whatever. I don't know. The Pixar audience is white. And I love that. And I love working with Pixar. Wide. Wide.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Okay. Yeah, Pixar audience is white and I guess probably pretty white. Does he mean the individual audience members are quite wide? I mean, maybe. Yeah, maybe. We'll never know Brad Bird's internal thoughts. And I love working with Pixar. I wanted to make this a little bit different flavor-wise.
Starting point is 00:16:06 And that's why I didn't- It's got a different flavor. And that's why I didn't pitch it at Pixar because they have their lane. And I can get down with that lane, but I don't see this movie going down that lane. Hey, here's another producer. Yeah. David Ellison. What are he doing?
Starting point is 00:16:21 I don't know, man. What are we doing, man? I'm not, it's just, maybe it's a different David Ellison. Let me just check. It's not. No, it's that David Ellison. Yeah. But you know.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Mm-hmm. Yeah, you know, man. It's all right. He's going to buy Warner Bros. Yeah, so that's good. That's good. This has got $150 million. It's got $150 million.
Starting point is 00:16:41 Yeah, got it. Okay. I don't know how. What do you think of the look of this movie? I mean, it does. does feel a little at this point like, oh, I've seen this. Dreamworks. Dreamworks, but also even the design of the world.
Starting point is 00:16:53 It's like I've seen fantastical futures that aren't the future. It's the past and the future now. I think like, yeah, 15 years ago, you'd be like, oh, okay. But no, but there are, I mean, I like that it's this kind of detective noir in the future and it does have jet packs and a grumpy man. Sure. I think I'm describing tomorrow, Landau, aren't I? You absolutely are.
Starting point is 00:17:16 You absolutely are. But I like the cast, like he said. He's getting choked up. He's getting a little emotional. Sam Rockwell's cool, man. And maybe you'll do a little dance and that's good. A little animated dance. They've finally been, you know,
Starting point is 00:17:27 technologies evolved so we can actually see what Tom Waits looks like for real. Oh my God. Which is that one-eyed alien guy. Oh, John Ratsenberger is, of course, in this. That's no surprise there. Yeah, but it is interesting that it didn't. Should this have been 2D? Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Well, probably not if they wanted to make money. I guess that's true In an ideal world Yeah This would look better as a 2D animated movie I think You're probably right What do you think? I mean I'm also being interested to know
Starting point is 00:17:55 How do you think this would do if it wasn't just going straight to Netflix? Oh, poorly Yeah I don't know I I Also I'd love to know Like are we going to get an exploration of why this world is as it is
Starting point is 00:18:07 Do you think it's going to be Do you think it's going to be like Well this is a parallel world Where the world evolved a little differently Or is it just like we're in this world? It's just the world. Maybe it's just like, it's the future, just it's now but later. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Like a minority report. Yeah. It's the future, but everything they've gone with. Let's go. Let's have a little retro vibe. I think some of the action looks pretty interesting. There's a fight sequence in an elevator. Yep.
Starting point is 00:18:29 Oh, yes. He uses the kind of the momentum of the elevator to his advantage and he, you know, grabs the gun as it falls and he jumps out of the elevator and he's poupo, pew. That looks pretty good. I was going to say there's a bit of rocketeer to this, but that's because there's a jet pack. Correct. Yeah. So, again,
Starting point is 00:18:45 released in Netflix on December 18th. Yeah. So it's not going to get any kind of cinematic release. It's... Wait, no, it's select cinema's December 4th. Oh, okay. Yeah, select theaters. Doesn't look like...
Starting point is 00:18:56 I mean, that would be great. Yeah. I would see this in October. I would see this. Yeah. Cool. Tom Waits. I reckon as a young lad, this would have been absolutely for me.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Absolutely. And it's still, look, I'm sure... I mean, have you seen the Iron Giant? Yes. So cool. Yeah. It's so cool, Mason. It's so cool and cool.
Starting point is 00:19:12 That's cool 2D animated 90s future stuff with a robot. That's true. Maybe it's the same universe? Yep. Maybe it's the same universe? Let's ask him. Okay. Maybe it's the Ready Player One universe. I love the Ready Player One Universe.
Starting point is 00:19:21 It's my favorite universe. Very good. Did you check out the final trailer for Clayface? Yes. It looks like we're getting confirmed of the big mushy, smashy clay face. Correct. And I'm glad they didn't show us. But I like to know going into this movie.
Starting point is 00:19:34 That's right. We're going to get the big mushy, smashes clay face. So you can turn to someone who you're sitting next to and go, I knew that was going to happen. Comics. Yeah, comics. That's the comics. Yeah, exactly. It's a comics.
Starting point is 00:19:45 actually. Big smushy guy. Have you read Batman Fights the Ricolai Faces? I have. I did it for my podcast. I did it more if it's got a video on it. It's actually exclusive paywall content. If you're interested, here's my card.
Starting point is 00:19:56 That's right. What do you think of that? It says, James, Mr. Sunday movies, annoys you. The guy that annoyed you at the cinema. It's on your card. Yeah, I mean, I don't know how this is going to be received. I mean, it looks good. It looks better than Sony's efforts of making villain movies
Starting point is 00:20:20 because this looks like he's actually a horrible villain. But I don't know whether this is... I don't know. I mean, it's a Batman villain movie. You know what I thought was interesting about this final trailer is I don't believe there was a DC Studios logo at the start. It was one at the end. What do you think that has to do with that is? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Maybe people are like, well, we're associating the brand with, you know, colorful superhero characters. We don't want to throw that to people at the start because if you're not, if you're a horror head and you're not into that, maybe you'd be like, I don't know about this. I don't know about this, you might say. Or maybe you might be like,
Starting point is 00:20:55 I did give a DC Studios movie a try a couple of months ago. Yeah. And I didn't like it. That's right. Until the Jimmy 8 World cover happened. And then I did like it. That was a good part of that good movie. Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, it might just, it'll probably, you know, it's an R-rated horror movie also. So they'll probably, at best, do as good as an R-rated horror movie does. Which can be quite good? Which can be good or bad.
Starting point is 00:21:19 It would be good or bad, exactly. So I don't know. It'll be exciting. It'll be exciting to know. It'd be good if Batman shows up, don't you think? Well, when he shows up, yeah, that it's going to be great. That'd be good. That'd be my favourite part of it.
Starting point is 00:21:29 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. When he doesn't show up, if he doesn't show up, I'm going to scream. I'm going to scream. I'd be like, folks, if you like that screaming, there's more of that behind this paywall. Here's my card. There's my card. Nick Mason, the man who screamed.
Starting point is 00:21:43 The man who screamed and you were intrigued So Gremlins 3 also got a Do you see that? I didn't watch this trailer anymore It's very short It's like a teaser teaser My recollection is Chris Columbus's director Yeah I had no idea this was even really happening
Starting point is 00:22:02 Neither did I Because there's the Mowgli prequel animated series Which I haven't seen any of which apparently quite good Mogulies mogul in about And obviously Joe Dante did Gremlin's one and two. Correct, yes. But, you know, Christopher Columbus does good movies.
Starting point is 00:22:19 I agree. I think at some point. Some might say... Too many good movies. Some will absolutely say that. What's the last... Can we bring up... I'm doing it right now.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Bring up Joe Rogan's assistant. Can you bring up his filmography, please? Yeah, I got it, man. I'm Jamie. I'm Joe Rogan's assistant. Nice. Thanks, Jamie. Hey, I'm Jamie.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I'm going to slightly push back very occasionally and then get yelled at. I'm Jamie. Jamie, shut up. Thanks, man. Can I still have... Health insurance? No.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Can I have $23,000 a year still? Yeah, you can have $21,000. Thanks, Joe Rogan. I love you. Okay. So, Mowgli's in... Sorry, what? Thanks, Joe Rogan, I love you.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Oh, okay, all right. So he did... Pixels. See, I feel he's done something very good in recent. He's done he did the Christmas Chronicles 2. I don't know what that is. That's the Kurt Russell's Santa Claus 1. Oh.
Starting point is 00:23:08 And he also did the Mid-N... The Thursday Murder Club. Isn't that something that people like? I thought that was quite fun. Isn't that a Netflix, whatever? Yeah, it was Netflix and it had all the oldies in it. Oh, we're old. What about selling?
Starting point is 00:23:20 People could do things too. No, you can't. This is a lie. This is a fiction. I don't like that. James is going to lure you all into a barn and set it on fire. Don't even need to. I'll come to your house.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Stay where you are. I'll take a day. I'll take a day of work and I'll come and kill you. Wow. Yep. Helen Mirren, too? Ah, wait. Yeah, see, there you go.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Yeah. Unless you're, look. These are jokes I was going to say Just to be clear I'm not going to kill anybody Wow I would kill those hobbits though
Starting point is 00:23:49 That is real Okay But you're not saying You're not saying you'll kill The actors Who played the hobbits Wow Did you see
Starting point is 00:23:57 Police Did you see Rent The movie Rent He did that He did I didn't see that no Do you see Percy Jackson The Olympians
Starting point is 00:24:04 The Lightning Thief Yeah I didn't like it Did you say Bicentennial man I did see Bicentian I might be the only person
Starting point is 00:24:12 Who likes that movie We've really gone quite far back into his... Well, you know, he's not that proficient, really. He does like one every five years. You mean prolific. No, I mean proficient. He's quite proficient at making movies. Shut up, you don't know that.
Starting point is 00:24:22 He shut up. He made a movie, he made stepmom in 98, 99 by Centennial Man. Then he made two Harry Potter movies in a row in 2001, 2003. I mean, that's undernival. He was jamming it out. So, yeah, he has been more proficient. Okay. But lately he slowed down to like Sean every five years at same.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, he wrote Gremlin So, like, that's, you know He knows what's up with him Oh yeah, I forgot he wrote Gremlins. He knows what's up with him. Did he write Gremlin's too? Gremlin control.
Starting point is 00:24:50 Let's have a look. I don't know. Gremlin, no, he didn't. He didn't have anything to do with it. Wow, interesting that he's coming back. Yeah. So anyway, the reason I bring, oh, did you watch the trailer?
Starting point is 00:25:01 Yeah, it's like two seconds. Yeah, it's just Gizmo. In a backpack. So they're doing, they're doing puppets apparently. Okay, which is what you should do for Gremlin's. So this was going to be out delays but not dismayes
Starting point is 00:25:13 November 7th of 27 and now it's been moved to October 6th of 2028. I mean that's not so much, you know, such that's not such an incredible delay for a movie you didn't know what's happening and it doesn't really affect me one way or the other whether it comes out at all. Okay. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think from again, from what I've heard of this movie over the years, I think the original cast all want to come back or are coming back as well. Well, I'll tell you this much. He's, uh, Chris Columbus is also the executive producer of Whirwolf. Oh my God, the Spooky Whirwool.
Starting point is 00:25:47 Spurkey Whirwool. I want to say that. And he was the producer of Nosphoratu. I want to say that. Oh. And I did. There you go. And I did.
Starting point is 00:25:56 And the lighthouse. He's getting in there. Oh, he's like a mentor to Robert Eggers, I think. Yeah, I'm a mentor to you. I'm going to help you kill all those people you want to kill. Oh, thanks. Whoever that is, I don't even care. Yeah, yeah, we'll figure it out.
Starting point is 00:26:11 I'll give you a list. Thanks. Anyway, should be all right. Yeah, hopefully. Now, the thing about tonally, where's this going to go? Because the first one's, like, a cute, it's a cutesy family. It's not a family thing, but it's like... Yeah, it's, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:29 The first one's kind of, you know, it's straight down the line. The second one is like insane metacometry on the nature of Hollywood. It's going to be like the first one, isn't it? Grandma's three, surely. Probably. Yeah. Grandma's back, and the kids from the first movie, they're now. adults. And they've got kids. They've got gremlins too. Oh, they've got gremlins too on DVD.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Yeah, man. Wow. That's good. In this era of streaming? They've got gremlins and the goolies, the knockoff of gremlins. Okay, wow. Yeah. And that ghouly's coming out of the toilet? Always. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Let's talk to Laysman not dismayes, though. Okay. Because the dynamic duo. Okay. All right. Dynamic duo. Yes, which is the sort of hybrid animation puppeteering something, something. So it's described as a mix of puppetry with animation, miniatures, models, animatronics, and computer-generated imagery. Apparently, those who have seen what this is, is like, this is not like anything that has been done before. Yeah, I've seen some of their, like their effects real, test real, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:29 It looks insane. Yeah, and so this is a probably not in continuity story of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd before their Robbins, I think. Is that what it is? Or after? Or just when they are, Rob. Because it's called Dynamic Duo, so presumably. So this has been moved, though, from June of 2028 to September of 2020. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:50 But they did announce some cast this week, including Mason Thames as Dick Grayson, who's The How to Train Your Dragon, Real Boy Live Action. Okay. Logan Kim has Jason Todd, who is from. Uh-huh. I did look this up earlier. Now I've forgotten. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:28:06 Oh, he's podcast. Oh, right. The movie Ghostbusters. Mason Thames is also in Blackphone. Yeah, he is. He's been in both those Black Phone movies. Okay. The first one I really liked.
Starting point is 00:28:16 The second one, I didn't finish. But not because I didn't like it. It just didn't. Okay. You just fell into the toilet. Yeah, I think also Ethan Hawke was doing too much ice skating. Okay, then. Which is a big part of that movie, and I just didn't think that was appropriate.
Starting point is 00:28:29 He's also in the upcoming idiots, which is that one. It's Dave Franco and O'Shea Jackson Jr. You know that one? Which is that one? Everybody was mucking around? Two rock bottom drivers transport a wealthy team to rehab, but their simple jobs spirals into a chaotic journey of drugs, danger of crimes, their passenger derails their plans.
Starting point is 00:28:47 I didn't know this. Mason Thames is the guy. He's the kid. Okay, I should check this out. Idiot's release date. Oh, it was... Says it is out. All right.
Starting point is 00:28:57 And it's on VOD now. Okay. That's good to know. That's good. Well, that's, you know... I'm going to watch that at some point. I might also watch it. So also, Lee Pace is Red Hood 1.
Starting point is 00:29:08 and who presumably is... The Joker? I guess, but also Steve Boshimi is Red Hood too. I don't know what's happening there. Because sometimes the Red Hood is like... In the gang, it's like they give it to different people, don't they? Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, okay, maybe that's the idea, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Yeah. Because in one of the many origins of the Joker, he's a normal guy and he agrees to do a crime with a gang. And then they put like a Red Hood costume on him because their idea is well, Batman will apprehend the guy who looks the most like a super villain. And the idea is he's like a sacrificial lamb. He'll probably, you know, all the cops will shoot him or whatever and they'll leave the rest of him alone.
Starting point is 00:29:46 So that makes sense. Maybe that's a, that's a... It's a thing that's happening. Yeah. It's going to depict the early days of Dick Grace and Jason Todd as the Robbins. I mean, well, again, see, this is a continuity thing because, like, they never crossed over. No. I wonder if any of these guys could be the actual characters as well.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Oh, maybe? Mason Thames might be too old. Too old. I mean, by the time this comes out, because he's like in his early 20s, maybe. He is. If he's Dick Grayson, he wouldn't be that old then. If he was like...
Starting point is 00:30:16 He's 19 right now. He's down the road a bit, Dick Grayson. Yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, you can have a... Even if it is incontinent, nothing matters or not. Yeah. If it's a voice actor, you don't have to have the voice actor.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Yeah. Do the live action version. I guess there was probably, because I guess them... Lead Pace would be a good joker, though. That's true. He'd be great. And he could, he'd have to slim down a little because he's not, because he's tall and like... Joker can be big.
Starting point is 00:30:37 I guess he can be. Sometimes he's a big lizard. Sometimes he's a big lizard. I guess there might be a moment where like, because what happened is Dick Grayson quits being Robin and then Jason Todd takes over. Because it's disco related, isn't it? It's disco related. Batman won't let him wear his big disco collar.
Starting point is 00:30:54 That's exactly right. Yeah, exactly. But he does. Yeah. He's like, Bruce, I've got Saturday and I'm fever. You can't, I can't help it. You know? Bruce is, Bruce Wayne's like, you're fired.
Starting point is 00:31:05 You're fired and you can't have that. So maybe one's an eyewring and one's Robin or maybe a lot of way. Yeah, yeah. Maybe, we'll find you to do it. It's fine. Yeah. It's not my job. It's not my job to figure it out. And there's a rumor that Chris Pine is going to be Batman. As in, in this or just generally?
Starting point is 00:31:23 Oh, okay. Sure, okay. He's been Spider-Man. And he's been Lego, isn't he? Isn't he bad? He's not Lego Batman. But isn't he Lego? He has been Lego.
Starting point is 00:31:30 Oh, wait, Chris Pine, did you say? Oh, wait, Chris Pine, yeah. Do you said Chris Pine or Chris Pratt? Chris Pine. Okay. Yeah. I'm sure he's probably. I think he would be good.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Yeah, that's good. I think he's probably too old to be live action Batman. Is Chris Pratt Lego? He's Lego. That's what I thought. That's what I'm thinking of. Chris Pine would, I think he'd be a good Batman, but for live action Batman, he's probably bit old.
Starting point is 00:31:50 Isn't he 40? 40? He's like late 40s, I reckon? He's 46. He's not bad old. That's mid 40s. Yeah, but it's sort of Batman has to be Batman for a long time. Maybe.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Or sometimes they defy them. Yeah. Or bring back another one or whatever. Yeah. How old's Robert Pattinson? He's 40 at least Oh wow Yeah
Starting point is 00:32:08 But I don't reckon They'll probably get this one out And then they'll probably be done with it He's 40 You nailed it You finally got one Actually Yes
Starting point is 00:32:15 Speaking of That fits Rob Pattinson Being Batman fits into My Hot Quick news segment What? Hot quick Whoa slow down
Starting point is 00:32:23 Casey stop No This is actually Good for the hot quick News segment What you're doing I agree Good
Starting point is 00:32:34 I hadn't thought about it But in retrospect and hindsight is 20-20. Yep. Yes, it is. It's good. Is it time for Hot Quick News? It is right now.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Okay, because I was just testing those. But it's, we're doing now. Wait, you're going to do that anyway. Oh, God, stop! Mason! Fire. Lad Bible. You fan?
Starting point is 00:32:54 Hell yeah. Yeah. They're always testing those foods. Dude, all the time. Hey, what do you think of this regional food? I don't like it. Yeah. Two points to America.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I think I mentioned this, but it was Ladb Bible, or maybe it was the other one. I don't know. They'd message when, you know, those 16-bit animated scenes that John would animate. And they'd be like, can we have this? We can put this on our page and give you nothing. But it's promotion for you, us, for all of us. Wow. And I'd just be like, fuck off forever, no.
Starting point is 00:33:23 Because they used to just steal everything and then they eventually just started asking for permission with no money, which is good. Well, it's hardly ladish behavior, is it? Exactly. A lad would just steal it. A lad would have honor. Anyway, now they do the food ones. They do it whatever they do, I don't know. Anyway, Robert Pattinson.
Starting point is 00:33:43 What about this? What about some vegamide? I don't know. Bissombrough, would you eat that? You going to eat this? What do you think of this? You think of this? What do you think of this?
Starting point is 00:33:49 A lot. Okay. One point for Australia. One point? Yeah, that's right. What are we scoring one? What am I up against? Wait, a bite.
Starting point is 00:33:57 So I don't get the point. Vegumite or Australia gets a point. Australia gets the point. Okay, great. Yeah. You have to eat a kangaroo tail and a dingo's ear. Which is another Australian delicacy. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Yeah. Have you ever had that? No. Really? Yeah. It's weird. Mason, he said this about joining the DCU. Who did?
Starting point is 00:34:15 Robert Pattinson. Okay. I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world. It's one of the only characters, I guess, because of the lengths of the shoot, but also it's such a specific kind of style, the tone gets inside you. Oh. So he says it's like quite a, it's a difficult character kind of to do. Okay. Which also, I mean, I don't think he's going to be Batman at this point.
Starting point is 00:34:35 It seems they're going in a different direction. but maybe he's also like, I don't want to do seven fucking movies. Yeah, exactly, yeah. I want to be weird in prime time. Yeah, he's being, when's that coming out here? Pretty soon.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Yeah. I think it's out in the US, isn't it? I'm looking at recent Ladd Bible videos. Where they got? Well, they're eating. Oh, jelly dales and stuff. Yeah, that's fine. But I'm not seen a Robert Pattinson one recently. Maybe it's not out yet.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Maybe they did a text one. They might have just hit him up at the red carpet or something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or they stole this interview from somebody else. Yeah, yeah. We interviewed Robert Patz Yeah That's weird that I don't remember that
Starting point is 00:35:10 It's probably because all that time Whipped me earlier Whichha! High, that's quick news! We've taken too long You should have moved us on Oh yeah, it's quick I forgot I forgot I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:35:20 You could have moved us on Not my job Your job Your job's a whipping Yeah Okay Godzilla minus zero It's gonna be the first
Starting point is 00:35:31 Rated Kaiju movie ever I've read it Kaiju's, that's hot, whachia! Wait, so it's hot as I get whipped him as... Silence! Can I borrow those from when I go to Hobbiton? Yeah, you know what?
Starting point is 00:35:45 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I only really need him for hot quick news. So I store them under the desk for emergency. And they just get hot, I don't they? Yeah, yeah. It's like a bartender's got the shotgun under the bar. I've got a little recess thing with the hot whips. That's good.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Yeah. So it's, yeah, first ever, which I wouldn't have thought, but it's R-rated for some content and bloody images. And brief, Kaiju nudity. Bloody images. Oh, he's bloody images. That's good. Next bit of hot quick news.
Starting point is 00:36:12 Whatcha! Wachar! Good news! Good news! That was good work. Good and quick. Kachar! T.H.R. said,
Starting point is 00:36:21 reported that Destin Daniel Cretton, who's the director of Spider-Man, No Mates, the most recent movie that's making two billions of dollars. Big hit for him. Good job. Whish! He signed a three-year overall deer. deal with Sony and he'll develop and produce films the re-production company His Sarko Films.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Great work, Destin Daniel Cretton. You've done a good job. You've made a $2 billion. Stop mason. Seriously. Stop it. What's he going to do next? I don't know, but probably...
Starting point is 00:36:49 Bad answer. Wrong answer. Move on. Spider-Man, probably. Another Spider-Man. Actually, I do think he's doing something in between. Let me quickly. Better be quick.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Find out what he's doing. What is it? Help me Google AI search. Give me the best answer and make it up the top of once. He's doing Naruto. Interesting. There you go. But you get whipped for AI searching.
Starting point is 00:37:16 This is the top answer. I just fucking... It always doesn't. Deadliner also reported you might have said this last week. The Dead Evil Born Again is going to end with season 3 at Disney Plus. You know about this? I know about this. Which is, I mean, I don't think it was ever supposed to go that long, I guess.
Starting point is 00:37:37 That's true. I enjoyed season one answer. And again, these actors don't necessarily want to be locked into these forever. No, man. You know, but I'm ripped Charlie Coxes at the moment. But also, they know, they know that it's going to end. So that means the maximum amount of chance. We're going to have a satisfying ending to that.
Starting point is 00:37:52 Exactly. Exactly. Anyway, thanks for that deadline. Ring ring. Whishah! What? Whatcha! Is this on the phone?
Starting point is 00:38:00 Yep. Whachah! Have you teamed up? Is this a collab? Yeah, this is a collab. Fuck. It's a club and it's a collect call, so you're paying for it. Oh damn, I'll pay for it, all right.
Starting point is 00:38:09 So this is a surprise, though, because Dead Ever Board again came out with, the first season's ratings were 7.5 million views in 2025 on Disney Plus within the first five days. Okay. But the second season in the US alone dropped 50%. This is via Luminate Data. Oh. So, yeah, I guess they're like, diminishing returns, diminishing returns
Starting point is 00:38:31 Everybody, let's stop doing this It's costing us money Well let me tell you this The numbers don't lie Whachachah! Whachia! Not forever, I want to bring it back Whack!
Starting point is 00:38:41 Because actually I like this Oh no Oh We should move to the next segment Which I believe is going to be us talking about The movie Cody Vigy Akmi I'm excited for that Great, me too I'm doing it now
Starting point is 00:38:53 Cody versus Acme Mason Oh yes God this has been a long time coming This is filmed in 2020 Or started to film in 2020, finished in 2020. And then audiences had to catch up. Oh, yeah. Ketch up.
Starting point is 00:39:07 They did actually. That's right. That's right. They did have to catch up. We'll talk a little bit about how it all went. Ketchup Entertainment, James. Yes, the production company that purchased Koti versus Akmi. That's right.
Starting point is 00:39:18 The initial budget was $70 million. Okay. There's some caveats to all of that. And at the moment, it's made about $100 million worldwide. Okay. And you might be like, well, that's not enough because of a budget or whatever. it's not going to have money. It might actually be enough money for ketchup entertainment, who we'll talk about.
Starting point is 00:39:34 It sounds like the box office is almost catched up with the budget. Well, speaking to box office, it was a pretty big weekend because Avengers came back and did well. Transformers the movie, the original 86 is having an extended run. I don't know how prime time is doing, but presumably okay. Probably good with weirders. Probably good for weird 824 freaks. Probably a bunch of freaks who's last movie they saw in cinemas with night crawl and now they're back. Oh, I love weird freak movies with freaks.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Yeah. Yeah. How's Transformers going? Because I think it would be extremely funny if it did as poorly. It's doing as poorly now as it did then. No, no, it's doing better than it did in the 80s. But also, I guess, inflation, etc. Sure.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Yeah. So it's, oh, opening weekend for prime time, it's going to be between 16 million and 20 million, which is fine because the production budget is apparently like 15 on that. So anyway, so, yeah. So this was, uh, Warner Brothers put together this, uh, based on an article, uh, loosely based on the article by Ian Frazier in the 90s.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Uh, in the New York. Can you get any money for this? Probably. Okay. Entitled Cody versus Acme and it was basically about the Cody suing the Acme Corporation because all the stuff that he purchased to catch the roadrunner doesn't work. And there's a bit of that in this, but it's not like the whole basis of the story.
Starting point is 00:40:42 What kind of is? But it's different. You know what I mean, Mason? Years. Anyways, after being filmed in 2022, Warner Brothers decided to scrap it in 2023 so they could take a 30 million dollar tax break. Typical. They thought that would be cheaper than releasing the movie, which would I guess would have meant that they only lost four.
Starting point is 00:40:59 million dollars on this. This was also after it was finished. And people who'd seen it were like, it's great. Yeah. But also people... It's better than Lunarians Back in Action, they said. Who could possibly even think that? And then they had to fight their way through the waves of people going like, no.
Starting point is 00:41:14 Back in Action is actually incredible. I've seen it a hundred times. Oh my God. That's disgusting. My favourite movie. Oh, my God. Not just because I saw it first time when I was 12. Oh, it's not good at all.
Starting point is 00:41:25 It's a terrible movie, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah, good. So then it was thought by Warner Brothers. Actually, first time Warner Bros. Don't any thinking. Well, not quite because this is not. So again, they budgeted at $70 million and they're like, well, we'll sell this to another production company.
Starting point is 00:41:43 They can put it out and deal with it. So they wanted $75 to $80 million for it. And there was a bidding war between like Netflix and Sony and a few others. But they're like, we're not paying $75 to $80 million for this. Yeah. We're going to do a reverse bidding war. Yeah. We're going to keep going down.
Starting point is 00:41:57 Yeah, that's right. backwards man so that kind of was off the table for a while and then we're all hoping that it would just get leaked if that wasn't going to happen because then we wouldn't have to get up in the morning and go to the bloody cinema exactly but then catch up entertainment in 2025
Starting point is 00:42:13 purchased it for $50 million $50 million down on so that means Warner Brothers it looks only only lost $20 million dollars but as a result of that there's kind of been this ground swell of support for this movie and again at the moment it's made about $100 million. So presumably if they put
Starting point is 00:42:30 50 million into the marketing for this, which I doubt, this is going to make. Yeah, I've not sending any ads for it anyway. This is going to make some money. Make some money worldwide. Which is good because, you know, it's better than just being put in the bin. Yeah. It's better than being put in the bin with a kick in the ass. Well, yeah, because also back all got thrown
Starting point is 00:42:48 out. There was a Scooby-Doo animated thing that got thrown out as well. And it was this. It was called Scooby-Doo. It gets kicked in the ass and they chucked in the bin. Let us see that, man. It's their best work ever Probably What do you think the story was?
Starting point is 00:43:03 Come on man Is it loosely based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New York article? One can only presume so That's not a real thing that happened Was it either? A coyote didn't really sue a fake corporation I don't think so no
Starting point is 00:43:13 I don't think so Because I saw a lot of that shenanigans happening in this movie Let me tell you that much Yeah Okay so it's your classic Looney tunes They exist in the real world world
Starting point is 00:43:22 How they doing that? I don't know Is this in the same universe As any of the previous ones? It can't be Yeah exactly None of them are famous. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:29 So, like, it's interesting because, like, Bugs Bunny is in this. But now when you see Bugs Bunny or in, like, back in action or whatever, he's known. And people have seen him in cartoons. He's famous. And he has an agent, I guess, and he works at Warner Bros. Yeah, but he's just like... But that, I guess, harkens back to, like, the cartoons of old where Bugs Bunny wasn't famous. He just lived in the woods and sometimes people would come in and try and kill him.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Yeah. Or he'd do an opera or whatever. That's true. Sometimes dressed as a Viking lady. Yeah. But I like that that they're not just like, oh, he's a celebrity and whatever. He's just like, I don't know, he exists and some people know about him, most people don't. Yeah, it'd be weird if he was a celebrity who lived in the woods and people were constantly trying to hunt him.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Yeah. That'd be odd. It'd be like if Robert Pattinson lived in the woods and people were constantly trying to hunt him, which might be true. That gives me an idea. Right? For another person that, you know, I have an interest. I have a hobby. You've got a hobby.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Are you compelled to do it? I am. You can compel it, you know. Yeah. Anyway, Wiley Coyote, he's always trying to get that roadrunner. Yeah, man. Because he wants to eat him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:32 And he's always using Acme products. Yep. And every time the Acme products, they don't work. They don't work. They're backfire. It's awful. He's having a bad time and he's sad. And he's spending a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:44:42 Or he's getting them for free? Hard to say. Where would he be getting the money? That's what I mean. They're free, right? Do you think he has like a trust fund or something? He might. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Nepo baby. Nepo Cody, baby. He has a big store credit Yeah I reckon they just give them to him Because the reveal of the Yes Anyway
Starting point is 00:45:02 One day He sees an ad for The He's a Will Forte He's a lawyer And he's like Have you been injured by a Acme product?
Starting point is 00:45:13 Come visit me Yeah I'll sort you out And he does He does doesn't he Because he's been doing this for like 50 years Anyway Then they got to see him up
Starting point is 00:45:23 Yeah And Will Forte plays a lawyer who's just like he doesn't care about anything. No, he's getting two or three hundred bucks a case or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's, he's resigned to a life where he's just a very small time lawyer
Starting point is 00:45:35 where, you know, somebody will come in with faulty rocket skates and he'll fill in a form and send it to Acme and they give him, you know, they settle for a couple hundred bucks or whatever. But then Wiley tricks him into a full-scale lawsuit. Yes. Which puts him on the radar of
Starting point is 00:45:51 Acme and their number one lawyer, John seen him. John Sen is here. Yeah. He's big and he's in his big suits. He is, yeah. I really enjoyed this. It's fun, right?
Starting point is 00:46:01 It's a lot of fun. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know, because I saw it with both my kids. Oh, so here's the... I don't think this is a... Well, it's not a young kids movie. No.
Starting point is 00:46:10 This... Although, no, it's not, I mean... Young kids. Yeah. Okay, so for context, my son is 10. Uh-huh. And I was six? What is six?
Starting point is 00:46:19 And this is, this is a quote from my son. Okay. He said it as we last. left the theater. Uh-huh. And then I'm like, today, can you repeat that thing that you said? Yeah. And he said, if you're-
Starting point is 00:46:29 Who's Peter Lorre? Laurie, Peter Laurie. Who is it? Who are you talking about? That's your son. Oh, no. That's what he'd be saying. It's not.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Okay. My son is a different name. So he knows who Peter Laurie is. Yeah, he does, yeah. Okay, all right. He said, if you replaced all the cartoons, it would be a grown-up movie. Little kids would think this is boring. They were always talking about money and lawyers and mortgages.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Okay. The mortgage part is not true. but it's a general. There is a lot of that kind of legal. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Did you know what a mortgage was at 10? No, I don't think he does either.
Starting point is 00:47:02 He might. I didn't ask. Anyways, he thought it was good, but I don't think he thought it was great. Right. My daughter said about 40 minutes into this, when is this going to be over? Great question.
Starting point is 00:47:14 And then she fell asleep for the rest of the movie, which was probably an hour. Okay, then. Great. And then after which she woke up and she was like, it was good. But I'm like, you didn't sit in. Wow. Also, you don't know what?
Starting point is 00:47:24 quality movie is. What's a mortgage? Quick, tell us. Yeah, that's right. So, yeah, my son did enjoy it, but I think that is true where like, yeah, the cartoons are, I mean, there's still cartoons and they're doing wacky stuff, but it is a, it's kind of, sort of, in the looser sense, it's a legal drama. Yeah, exactly, yeah. But it's like, it's like an episode of Boston legal. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it's nonsense. Yeah, LA law. Yeah, totally. I think the animation is great. I think they've made the right call. Do you disagree? Well, here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:47:56 I think some of it is great. Okay. A lot of it that's 2D isn't. It's actually 3D. Not all of it. But I think that's fine because I think a lot of the Cody stuff, he's actually a 3D model that they have 2Dified. Some of the 3D models, I think, are really obvious.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Alma Fudd is at the end. Yep. And there's a few other ones that just look. And maybe it's because he's an egg-shaped round man. It looks more obvious. Yeah, yeah. I think the code looks the best of all of them. But I think it's very well integrated for the most part into the live action.
Starting point is 00:48:28 It is. Yeah. And there's a lot of, there is a lot of like cartoons violently interacting with real life stuff and crashing through walls and holding things that are real. Yeah. And vice versa. So apparently what they would do, they would do black and white line drawings in key poses over the first edit. And then they would do the animation over the top. And often it was 3D and made look, make.
Starting point is 00:48:51 look 2D. But there are exceptions like Bugs Bunny, who was entirely 3, a 2D, because he was 2D animated. He wasn't that character, because he plays kind of a secret informant kind of character. And it's not a spoiler because it's very obvious, very early on that it is him. But it wasn't supposed to be Bugs Bunny. It was supposed to be the doctor that went missing. Peter Lorry. Peter Lorry, yes. Also, Peter Lorry, the Golden Age Hollywood actor, I guess back in the olden days was turned into a like they did a cartoon parody of him back in the whatever, the 50s, 40s or 50s or something.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Yes. And so now that character is Dr. Peter Lorry. Yes. And married to Granny, who doesn't even do The Matrix once. Not even once. Unlike that space jam. You would think they'd put that in for us, the true fans. That's what we love. I'm doing the Matrix like I did in the last one. There are times of charm to do the Matrix.
Starting point is 00:49:45 Maybe Warner Brothers might have taken out. They might have, yeah. Because of legal reasons. Because of legal reasons. Yeah. So, but no, I think, yeah, on the whole, it does lose something in, I guess because you're looking at Roger Rabbit, you're like, they, they hand animated this. Yes, 100%. And it's like, God, that's hard.
Starting point is 00:50:01 And not that it's not hard doing this. It's just, it's just a cleaner effect. Yeah. Overall. But I think one of the things that really sells it is that, like, Will Forte is the same as John Cena. I think everybody else who interacts with the tunes, but it's mostly them. They fucking sell it. They do.
Starting point is 00:50:18 100% the holding of things, the talking, the eyeline. Which is not surprising with either of those to. No, no, no, yeah. Cina 110% commits to everything he's ever done in his life. That's right. That's why so big. That's right. That's why he got that hair transplant recently or whatever.
Starting point is 00:50:34 That's right. Yeah, so that's brave and bold and we love him for it. So, because it's, you forget, and I would even say even back in action did this, maybe not so much Space Jam too, but you forget that it's a cartoon talking to a real person. You just, you're in the moment and the story moves along and you just kind of, yeah. Now, I'll say I did watch this two weeks ago, so I remember very few specifics. But I remember the jokes being funny also. Yeah, it's funny.
Starting point is 00:51:00 But again, it's grown up funny. Yeah. You could take, so what you're saying is like, it's not as lewd as a Roger Rabbit. No, that's true actually. It's not lewd funny. No. Yeah. And it's not scary.
Starting point is 00:51:11 Like, you're from Roger Rabbit. It's boring, if anything, based on what your daughter, your daughter's feedback on this movie. So this is a movie for someone If you like Who Framed Roger Rabbit Yeah If you love Back in Action Yeah Surely you would like this also
Starting point is 00:51:29 Yeah And I also think it does And even though people say back in action does this And maybe it does But it does feel like The characters are the characters And true to who they are at their core And kind of the history of those characters
Starting point is 00:51:43 And their motivations And the looks are all like bang on There's a moment where Pepe Lapewue gets pepper sprayed. That's fun. That is fun. Also, the plot makes sense and is there. Which is a low bar to clear, I feel, but like maybe some of these previous movies didn't do that. Well, exactly.
Starting point is 00:52:01 I mean, yeah, Space Jam, too, it's like, I don't know, we're going to do basketball. You got a million dom ball points and whatever. It's like, fuck this and all of this and whatever. Why is the Joker here? And this is, yeah, you're absolutely right. There's a logical through line to it. I feel there's a moment People learn a lesson sort of
Starting point is 00:52:20 I feel like there is a moment where kind of unravels at the end in the courtroom where I think there could have been a bit more kind of legal kind of like you know some legal more Boston legaling kind of stuff Yeah some mumbo jumbo
Starting point is 00:52:33 Yeah it kind of comes like a straight shot towards the ending but yeah I think also there's moments like So one of the things in it is they They want to get the roadrunner to testify Yes To prove that Because we need a witness
Starting point is 00:52:46 to prove that all the equipment was faulty. Yeah. And so there's different times during the movie where Will Forte with Tim's team goes out to catch up with the roadrunner. And so do the bad guys. And just watching somebody else tried catch the roadrunner thinking that it's easy.
Starting point is 00:53:03 And it's also interesting because it's like, well, it's not just the bad products that's stopping the coyote or his incompetence. This is really hard to do. Yes, right. So it's funny to see other people trying to do it thinking they could just walk into it and just get obliterated. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:18 I thought that was really fun. Also, I, um, good voices. Yes. Which again, not necessarily, not necessarily guaranteed in this sort of thing. It's Eric Bowser. Yeah. Is Bugs Bunny, Daffy, Peter Lorry, Foghorn, Lakehorn, Peppie, Peppie, Pooke Pig, Elmer Fudd.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Are you sure? It's not Jeff Bergman. I'm getting Google results. Yeah, yeah. Sorry, yeah. Um, that's a lot, isn't it? That's a lot, yeah. And actor, director, Jim.
Starting point is 00:53:45 Cummings is the Tasmanian devil. Yeah. Brendan Fraser. Oh, no, it's a different Jim Cummings. Oh, it's not that one? No, it's a voice actor, Jim Cummings. Yes, it is, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:53 Okay. But, yeah, it's, again, that's... Oh, my God, Eric Bowers is doing like 12 voices. Yeah, look, if anything's going to take me out of one of these, it's... If they don't sound like, Mel Blank, you've lost me. Which is the one that you were like... Oh, you don't like Billy West's Bugs Bunners. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Yeah. Damn, got it. But look, he... These were great. I don't know if he's... I don't know if he's... This gentleman has, like, I don't know if he loved these characters as kids and, like, devoted his life to sounding like them. But it worked.
Starting point is 00:54:23 Whatever he did work. Because I'm like, yes, these sound exactly like the originals and good job. Absolutely. Should we do some spoilers? I'll say, best movie ever. I'll say best movie ever. Had a fun time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:33 I'd see it again. Worth saying, I would say, from my experience, it's a slightly older kid movie. Because otherwise, if you take the cartoons out, it's just mortgages. But was your son just being nice when he said he liked it? No, he liked it. He was laughing in moments. Okay. Also, there's a lot of...
Starting point is 00:54:48 Did he have a little look in his eye like, this is what Dad used to think was entertainment. I don't think anything, just to be clear. But there's little things like, you know, there's like sign sight gags that, you know, a little kid can't read. Sure, yeah. And that, you know, they'd jokes that he would get that...
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yeah, that's true. You know, someone younger couldn't. Not necessarily. But I'm going to say best movie ever. I'm really glad I finally eventually got to see this. And I'm glad that it was... I'm glad that it was... Our constant campaigning.
Starting point is 00:55:15 Yes. Tileless. Tileless campaigning, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was good. Yeah. It was good.
Starting point is 00:55:21 And the reason Batgirl didn't come out because we didn't tirelessly campaign for it. And we don't want to. If we did tireless the campaign for it would have come out. But we didn't want to. We had to dedicate our time to something. Yeah. Plotting those barn murders.
Starting point is 00:55:32 Yeah. Yeah. Bar Mooders and a whip thing that you've been doing. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. And you're not going to believe this, but I find that actually it's quite distracting to me when you do that.
Starting point is 00:55:43 Like it puts me off a bit So I probably would have campaigned more If you weren't doing it Well I gotta be me, you know You do A man with two whips Wielding them recklessly They're on fire also
Starting point is 00:55:53 They're also on fire But there's also unrelated fire Yeah yeah Fire as well It's hot Yeah Yeah Let's do spoilers
Starting point is 00:56:01 Let's do spoilers Let's do spoilers Alright so Project Sisyphus Should we talk about Let's talk about it Let's talk about it So
Starting point is 00:56:06 What we learn in this movie Is that It's all the all the malfunctioning Acme products, that's not by accident. Yeah. It's they are,
Starting point is 00:56:18 they are testing. They used to be real products. They used to be real products, but then they discovered the, the results they found from these, these products could be used to, for products for human use. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:31 So, you can test them on cartoons and they'll just survive whatever horrible thing it is. Yeah. Yeah. And then go about their day. And so what they've done is they've decided to, yeah,
Starting point is 00:56:42 deliberately keep sending why the coyote these malfunctioning crimes. What do they call him a power user or something? He's a power user, I think. Yeah, yeah. And every time, you know, he's horribly burned, they can use that in an oven or whatever.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Yeah, something like that. Yeah. Tornado pills became jet propulsion. Yeah, that's right. And all sorts of different stuff. So the thing about that is as well, like there is a moment, I can't remember who it is, but might have been Falkornc. It is Falkhorn Lake Hall.
Starting point is 00:57:08 Yeah. Because he's the lawyer for the, he's the head of the, cooperation. That's right. Yeah. He says something along the lines of, you know, you can, you can crush it, cartoon, you can burn him, you can do whatever, and then five seconds later, they're back to normal. Yeah. And he's right. He is right, yeah. But also because there was a moment. But I guess Wiley's sad. He is sad about it. Doesn't like it. But I think there is a moment because Will Forte gets him on the stand to testify. And I thought it was going to be like,
Starting point is 00:57:36 oh, he'll a few good men him into this because they're like, well, he's really arrogant. So you could potentially get him to accidentally admit something. But he just says it. Like he doesn't even use any kind of like legal. You know what I mean? He doesn't trick him in it. He just says it. I mean, they lose the case, I guess.
Starting point is 00:57:52 That's true. Yeah. Anyway, but I also thought that it was great as well. The reason Cody was even formulating this entire plan so he could get the roadrunner to testify so he could eat him. That was his entire motivation. Well, he could eat him along with his lawyer. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:08 That's right. He grew to like his lawyer. fun. Yeah. But it really does also, it endears you to the coyote. Yeah. Like it really,
Starting point is 00:58:16 they really, you know, the big thing of this movie is like, who gives a shit about this guy? He's awful. Yeah, that's right. And you know,
Starting point is 00:58:22 and you do care about it. Yeah. He's, you know, he's compelled, but because also he's hungry. He's hungry. He's hungry.
Starting point is 00:58:29 Yeah. And it's, you know, it's fun. It's cool when the robot turns up and does his little testifier or whatever. And it is also cool
Starting point is 00:58:37 because the coyote is, he's building something throughout the movie We don't see what it is. Yeah. And it's a trap to capture the roadrunner when he's taking the stand. And we do see that go off and capture Foggle, Langhorden, John Cena. And it's pretty fun.
Starting point is 00:58:52 It's fun. It's fun. You know, it's fun. And it's because, again, the good guys lose the case. Yeah. But what do they really lose? Their dignity. Yeah, a lot of it.
Starting point is 00:59:02 And a lot of cars. Yeah, a lot of cars. Will Forte is some great car explosions in this, right? Yeah. Yeah. And it is a funny bit that Will Forte has a. kind of a nice car at the start of the movie and he has to keep going, as his cars are destroyed,
Starting point is 00:59:15 he keeps having to acquire a worse and worse cheaper car until he's on a bicycle. Yeah, that's good. Funny bit. Funny bit. Yeah, was there a post credits? No. I was out of there.
Starting point is 00:59:27 No, there wasn't a post credits, but I think there was a... Yibity, yibita or whatever? No, that's Rex Hunt and he died. Unlike a tune, he cannot come back from that. Whatever was he died of. Fish, I think. There was a, thank you.
Starting point is 00:59:41 you to everybody who supported us and, you know, campaigned and blah, blah, blah. We couldn't have done it without you. Yeah. The Weekly Planet Podcast is what it said. And you left. It was directly to us. It said, we couldn't have done it without you, the Weekly Planet podcast. And that's true.
Starting point is 00:59:56 We raise our hot whips to you, they said. I don't have any hot whips just to be clear. We know. But you can give me one. No, you can't have. Oh, no, yeah, I said it alone. I'm to you. Uh, yeah, there it is.
Starting point is 01:00:06 Cool. All right. Do you move to the next segment with the show? Let's move on the next segment with the show. What is it? What is it? What is it? Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:00:11 Oh, my God? Oh, my God? Yeah. Oh, yeah. I'm doing a thing. I'm doing a thing. What are you being reading today? What are you being reading?
Starting point is 01:00:24 I'll tell you what, James. Lots of stuff. Oh, yeah. And then it's my secret. Okay. Goodbye everyone. What? Goodbye forever.
Starting point is 01:00:31 No, I'm just kidding. All sorts of stuff. I watched that movie. I mentioned this to you before. I watched I Want Your Sex, which is the Greg Iraqi movie. Yes. It's got Cooper Hoffman and it's got Olivia Wild in it and some other folks. And it's not as sex romp as you think.
Starting point is 01:00:45 It's pretty sex rom. Oh, it is. Okay. Well, it's, it's pretty sex romp. It's also got like, what I would say, it's more sex romp, but it's also, and it's, you know, it's a, it's a comedy and sort of a drama. Yeah. But it's got a sort of a murder mystery element to it.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Yeah. It feels a little bit tacked on. It's got Margaret Cho and Johnny Knoxville as two detectives, and they're interviewing Cooper Hoffman because they're like, you work for this artist lady and she turned up, And she, then she died and blah, blah, blah. And what's going on? And it's sort of interspersed, but it's really sort of... Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:19 It would work without it. Oh, wow, got him. But I think it's good. Enjoyed it. Okay. I enjoyed it. This Greg Iraqi makes a movie like once every 10 years or something, and it's generally pretty good.
Starting point is 01:01:29 It's good. Oh, but also... Hell yeah. We got an email... A couple weeks back. It was the 9th of September, so I'm meant to get to this earlier. Oh, yes. But I have replied to it.
Starting point is 01:01:39 Well, we got an email from Dave Whiscus. Yes. Now, if you know the Patrick H. Williams YouTube channel, you will know Dave as Patrick's manager slash agent. He's like a three martini lunch kind of guy. But in addition to being a character on the show, he's an actual, like, film producer. And he and Patrick Willems and Dan Jinks. Dan Jinks. And also, and Matthew Kelly, who people also know as NandoVee movies.
Starting point is 01:02:06 They work together on a little, they sent us a screener of a little short film called Power Trip, which is about a woman who is a like a Uber-style ride-chair driver and she's having a bad night. A legally distinct Uber. A very legally distinct Uber. And I mentioned this because they sent it over and they're doing an assortment of, it's going to be on Nebula which is their streaming service.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Yeah. But they're doing some showings of it around town. I did know this. Why am I surprised? That's right. Along with like Q&As and stuff. Yeah. And at time of release, if you want to see one,
Starting point is 01:02:40 There's a couple of New York City showings still happening at the Regal Essex Crossing. They didn't ask us to plug this, but I watched it and I'm like, this is really interesting and it looks really good and it's got like really good dialogue and kind of like, at one point, one of the characters in the film describes like what's happening is quite visceral and I'm like, this is visceral. But anyway, it's at the Regal Essex Crossing at time of release. There'll be one on Monday, the September, September 28th, the September 29th showing is sold out. Wednesday, September 30, and there's also one in London on November 14th, the Picture House Central. Really cool.
Starting point is 01:03:16 And all these people, all these people involved in this are awesome. So Dave produced it and Patrick Williams directed it and Nando wrote it. Yeah, and other people involved. There's people in it. Yeah, there's people in it as well. Yeah, you mentioned, did you say this? But it will eventually be on Nambulah. Correct, yes.
Starting point is 01:03:33 I don't think there's a date on that. Is that right? Presumably there's still, they're going to take it around for a bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For a while, yeah. But yeah, if you can get to any of those, that'd be cool. That would be cool. I'm weird enough to because we've got a screener.
Starting point is 01:03:45 We'll have to say. We'll send it to you if you let us say. We'll send it to you. They'll never figure it out. They'll never figure out it was us. They'll never know because we're joking. So if it does get leaked, it wasn't us because we're joking. That's right.
Starting point is 01:03:55 But we could easily leak it. Yeah, hey, we're having a screening of it in a barn. Come to, come to the... Come to New Zealand. Come to New Zealand. We're shown in a barn. Yeah. That's super cool, though.
Starting point is 01:04:07 I'm so glad that's really awesome they put this all together and I'm glad that the reception that it's getting as well. That's fun. Why is my computer making those noises? I don't know, James. I wish it wouldn't. Cool. It's just excited to go to a screening off Power Trip. I am also for that.
Starting point is 01:04:22 I saw a kids movie as well. Okay, tell me about this. The Forgotten Island, do you know about this? Nope. So it's best friend Joe and Russ stumble upon a mysterious portal that transfers them to a fantastical island that's filled with magical creatures. It's an animated movie that's not doing very well.
Starting point is 01:04:37 that deserves to do better. Because you liked it. Yeah, I did like it. That's a grown-up. Yeah, it was fun. Could I as an adult watch and enjoy it? No, because you don't have that in you. I don't.
Starting point is 01:04:46 All my whimsy's gone. You know, it's like two best friends and they're kind of drifting apart and whatever. It sounds bad. Yeah, it's a bit like... And then they drift apart. They drift apart. And then they're both depressed?
Starting point is 01:04:56 Yeah, they turn to alcoholism? Yeah, it's like seven minutes long. Wow. But, and they go to this mystical island, they meet a dog man who's played by Dave Franco. and they have to and they've forgotten some of their memories because we love...
Starting point is 01:05:10 You don't want to do that. We love remembering when we've forgotten our memories and vice versa or whatever and so they have to figure out kind of, they're kind of had this night of like, they don't really know of nonsense and debauchery
Starting point is 01:05:21 but they don't know why they've forgotten it. Okay. So they're going across the island rest tracing their steps, hangover three style. Are you thinking of the movie Don't Blink? I am thinking of the movie Don't Blank.
Starting point is 01:05:31 It's not that. It's a different movie. And that's a dog to the episode you're thinking of. Don't blink. Oh yeah, I'm thinking of don't blink. Breathe?
Starting point is 01:05:36 You're thinking of Doctor Who? Which there might be an episode called Don't breathe of Doctor Who. I don't know. But yeah, it was cool. Don't blink, don't breathe. Don't tell them what to do Doctor Who. I won't. Like, there's names like Mani Jacinto was in as well.
Starting point is 01:05:50 Oh yeah, great. It was like a giant demon baby. There's a scene where they're eating like hot Cheeto style things and like having ideas. And it's clearly just like, oh, this is cocaine. Like they're just like, they're just having like all these amazing ideas. What's it called again? It's called Forgotten Island. It's a DreamWorks animated film.
Starting point is 01:06:09 I think, again, it's not doing... Oh, Ronnie Chang's in it as well, you know, Rocheon. It's not doing very well. Okay. But I think it will find a life on streaming. You think it's not doing well because we haven't, we hadn't promoted it yet? That's probably part of it, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:24 But, yeah, it was great. Okay, then. I thought it was really cool. Yeah. A good kids movie, if you're on the Australian school holidays, which I am right now. Nice. Okay. Did we talk about last week?
Starting point is 01:06:38 Oh, my daughter loved the villain. It was a really scary vampire lady woman. Oh, okay. My daughter was like, love that. Okay. Cool. She likes vampires at the moment, and that's cool. Is she going as a vampire for Halloween?
Starting point is 01:06:48 She's going to vampire. That's what I thought. That's how you saw that, you were to see in the sheet with a vampire costume picture on it. No, she attacked me with really sharp teeth. Oh. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm sorry about that, but also I'm proud of her. And not of you.
Starting point is 01:07:00 Oh, what? What? But I'm putting so much more work in. Uh, yeah. There it is. There it is. That's pretty exciting. Should we move to the next segment?
Starting point is 01:07:10 And is it letters and do you have letters or do we need to pause? He's letters and we need to pause to get letters. I mean, I don't need to pause. I'm just going to fill time. Okay. I'll do it in the meantime time. All right. The classic one was letters, oh letters.
Starting point is 01:07:23 We love you. Some letters. They're only a take away. I know they're here right now. We're going to do letters. All right. Letter segment's good, isn't it? Hell yeah, brother.
Starting point is 01:07:35 It's good. and you can send us a letter the only one way and we know how. We can PlanetPotter at Gmail.com or going to the Planet Broadcasting Grandmates Group and there's a letter segment every year. So that's two ways? Or is that the one way?
Starting point is 01:07:47 That's the one way. Okay, one way, but two options. No. Okay, good. What have you got in terms of letters this week? Here's an email from Finn. Finn? People have been emailing about dad films.
Starting point is 01:07:56 Oh, yeah. Finn says my granddad's favorite film is Godzilla 1998. Hi, James and May. So last week he spoke about weird dad films so I thought I'd share possibly the weirdest of all. and the dad thing because that is the thing we did do and we couldn't determine it's down to the dad isn't it? And this is proof of that.
Starting point is 01:08:11 But this is granddad. Granddad? Is there even such a thing? I guess there is. I'd say that there's minor dead and I figure there's mine are dead and it must be the same for everybody. Are you all right? What's his email about? My granddad's favorite film is the god-awful
Starting point is 01:08:24 1998 Godzilla. He's otherwise a very traditional English man who enjoys going to the opera and has a wardrobe made up almost exclusive suits but for whatever reason absolutely loves watching Matthew Broderick chase Godzilla through New York.
Starting point is 01:08:36 Even as a VHS copy he's kept to this day. Keep up the good work from Finn. Now, Finn, I'm going to need you to speak to your granddad. Yeah. You just spend the day with your granddad and bring up Godzilla 1990. It should come up anyway. Yeah, I would imagine it would be. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:50 And say, why do you like this movie so much? We need to know why. Is it operatic in nature? Or maybe it is. But then like... Is Godzilla, the Godzilla, is he the equivalent of the big Viking lady? With a horned helmet who's going to like.
Starting point is 01:09:05 La La La La La La La La. You know, but Godzilla. Yeah, that's a, I guess he just hit him, hit him at the right time. Fifty four to 68. I don't know how this guy is. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know what this is. No, right?
Starting point is 01:09:19 Because you don't know anything about him. Yeah. Sometimes you just like things. Is it because New York, New York, it's a wonderful town? It's not an opera though, is it? No. But something, something in the batteries down? Yeah, New York, New York.
Starting point is 01:09:31 Not an opera. No, but it's song and dance. They go into a state. But it's like a Dodgers stadium or whatever. I don't know what's in New York. Or a Mets stadium. That's uncouth, isn't it? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:41 Or New York Yankees Stadium. God, Dad's a mysterious. They really are. Maybe when you're a dad, which you are. Yeah. When you're, when your children are, when they get a bit older and they're trying to figure out why you are the way you are. Just don't, if they're listening to this in the future, don't worry about it.
Starting point is 01:09:57 Now, but I think this might be the clue. Oh, this movie. No, this, this podcast. Oh, yeah, definitely. I think this is made. Maybe the only way to determine the taste of a dad is to like observe hours and hours of their media consumption over, you know, decades. Yeah. And then you might be like, you put it all in a whiteboard with some red string or whatever and you figure it out.
Starting point is 01:10:22 And you'd be like, oh, wow. You just think some movies are all right. Yeah, that's right. Some of them just, it's all right. And this wasn't on the podcast, but he hid his head a bunch of times. So maybe that's also it. Some of that's on the podcast. That's right.
Starting point is 01:10:35 But here's an email from Isaac. Oh, he's just going to jump into another email straight away. I'm going to give me an opportunity. Well, here it is. And Isaac says elements of a mom movie. Hi, James and Mason. I'm a big fan. I've been listening since I discovered you a rainy Spider-Man Caravan and Garbage
Starting point is 01:10:48 in my freshman year of college. Thank you. Two years out of college as a civil engineer. Whoa. Jump off a question from last week. Real guy in the world. What is an element of a mom a movie? My mom, for example, loves feel good movies like Chef with John Favro
Starting point is 01:11:00 or the occasional action flick like Top Gun Maverick. It's Isaac from Chicago. Yeah, so like a practical magic, I'd imagine. It's like a mom movie. What? Is it? Yeah, big time, man. My mom wouldn't like that.
Starting point is 01:11:14 My mom likes a Poirot-style mystery. Like that. I think my mother likes anything like that. She like... Have you ever considered the fact that your mom doesn't know anything? I have considered that. I'm factoring that in, all right? All right.
Starting point is 01:11:31 Moms don't have to know anything. No, that's true. They do. Yeah, that's right. God bless them. Yeah. No, my mom likes a lot of, like, your silent witness, you're like any kind of like... Me and you have the same mom. Yeah, Grizzly...
Starting point is 01:11:42 Yeah. Grizzly ABC murders, yeah. Yeah. My mom is always like, did you see this new show? It's called British Detective Guy or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's a small town and there's a murder and who is it or whatever. Sometimes it's British murdered.
Starting point is 01:11:57 It's called Wake and Mystery. Sometimes it's legal and dying town. Sometimes it's British. detective mystery man, but it's in a tropical location. Sometimes I'm moving. That's a good one. Yeah. I'm a fish out of water right now.
Starting point is 01:12:11 And sometimes there's a secret. Yeah. And then the secret is like some inheritance shit or whatever. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mystery diamonds, maybe. Mystery family diamonds. You know, my mom likes.
Starting point is 01:12:23 What is your mom? Noble house. The restaurant? No. That Pierce Brosnan miniseries from the 90s. You'll know it when you see it. It was a mainstay of television. This could not have been 88.
Starting point is 01:12:37 Yeah. Yeah, I was going to say, because it wouldn't have been 90s, Pierce Bros. No, no, no. Because he was doing Doubtfires. It was doubtfiring, absolutely. Action drama miniseries. It's not a James Clavel novel or something? This is based on...
Starting point is 01:12:52 It doesn't say it's based on anything. They said they made it up. What? They meant the whole thing up. It's not even real, they said. Wow, did Pierce Broson make any of it up? Differences from the novel. Well, but it didn't exist.
Starting point is 01:13:02 The book doesn't exist. exist. Wow. Wow, that is interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Wasn't it son and played James Bond, yeah, blah, blah, blah and all that. Yeah, it's, so... They just did a Blu-ray, re-released. John Moise Daubes. He played Quinlan Gwant in Noble House, played Vascoe Rodriguez in Shogun. Wow. Which is another James Clavel book. And he was in some of the Bonn. No, he wasn't. You think of Indiana Jones. I am thinking of Indiana Jones. You are correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, there you go. Is this worth seeing? I liked it. This is interesting. He liked it in the 80s.
Starting point is 01:13:34 He was the 80s as well, man. You watched this in 1980, did you? I would have watched it in like 1990. This is based on the same novel, like James Clavel. Good. Good. You didn't think he could squeeze another story out of that novel. No, he did.
Starting point is 01:13:48 His business diacon in Duross. Yeah. He's got to deal with the noble house. I bet they've got different customs or whatever. He's got different customs. But he knows all the customs. He's been there. Yeah, he probably has that, isn't he?
Starting point is 01:14:01 Yeah. Now, the original novel was set in the 60s. the series set in the year 3000. Did you know that? I did know that. You know how I knew because of all the big domed space helmets they were wearing. And it was very, it's a custom.
Starting point is 01:14:16 Because he knows all the customs. He knows that what you do is you bow and you clink your space helmets together. Like that. You like that. Great. Yeah, that's right. Damn, it went up against the 1998 Winter Olympics
Starting point is 01:14:28 on the ABC. Wow. But it did well apparently. Yeah. God, is this good? You should get your mother the new Blu-ray release of Noble House. I bet she'd enjoy it. God, make sure a Blu-ray is working or whatever.
Starting point is 01:14:44 Yeah. She had the Blu-ray even? People seem to like this, maybe. Look, I don't know, man. What a fascinating snapshot of the year 3,000. That's also the past when this came out. That's right. The floating restaurant is on fire.
Starting point is 01:15:02 There's a scene with the floating restaurants on fire You understand that I You know that I haven't seen it this or I even heard of it That's why I'm telling you I just had a very vivid memory They have to escape the floating restaurants on fire And James Cavill Yes
Starting point is 01:15:17 Said this happened Yes Henry Cavill's granddad Henry Cavill Yeah God What does he get a vampire Mine are dead This is bullshit
Starting point is 01:15:25 Mason I've got a letter Okay go on It's from Brad Oh Hey boys Courtrooms have been a been a part of movies and TV shows for decades. That sounds like the opening spiel for like an Oscars award for best courtroom.
Starting point is 01:15:41 Whatever. Yeah. Yeah, they've been doing this for a while. Decades, how are many? Courtroom scenes can make us laugh and make us cry. Decades could mean it's two decades or like 100 decades. When I say decades, it's plural. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:54 Is there a particular courtroom scene that you're fond of? Or one scene that you think was too stupid to catch until it was explained later on? One that springs to mind. is in primal fear. This is a spoiler for primal fear. Okay. Camad 986 or whatever. Seven?
Starting point is 01:16:08 I don't know. This is the same way they finally reveal who's got the primal fear. Yeah. Which is that monkey fucking dinosaur fighting game from the 90s?
Starting point is 01:16:18 Yeah. They all had it, didn't know? Did they all have the... They didn't all have the original copy. Oh, okay. Some got it had burned copies. Oh, I thought you all was talking about the characters in the game,
Starting point is 01:16:28 Primal Fear had the Primal Fear. No. We're talking about did Ed, Did Ed Norton have the original copy of Primal Fear on CD Wrong? If that's what it was called. Because I might have got something else. Why does it speak to my... And the judge bangs his gaveling.
Starting point is 01:16:43 He's like, I know you had it. I knew you had it, Richard Gere. He's like, I'll never tell. Is it? Primal Rage. It was called Primal Rage. Thank you. Did you know that?
Starting point is 01:16:54 Yeah, he didn't know that, yeah. Okay, cool. Anyway, one of the speaks to mind, his primal fear against spoilers, was from 96, where Ed, Norton let slip on a witness stand that he was lying about his dual personalities and he was actually in control all along. I remember wondering how I missed it and then knowing that I shouldn't become a lawyer. That's not your fault.
Starting point is 01:17:13 You were tricked by acting. Also, you're tricked by how Hollywood law is not the same as real law. Like in the real world, you can't be like, by the way, here's some surprise evidence. Can't do it. Can't do it. Everyone's got to see that evidence before and taste it. That's right. Give it a lick.
Starting point is 01:17:29 Yeah. Give it an evidentiary lick. You could have been a lawyer and now you're not. That's right. Yeah, because of Edward Norton. Yeah. He got you, man. That's right.
Starting point is 01:17:39 I mean, the ones that I can think of, I just Googled a few times to kill has a famous speech. Coya versus Acme? Well, that's the thing, Mason. That's what we've been talking about. A few good men's got there. You ain't Jack Nicholson. Stop doing it. Legally blonde's got a really fun one as well.
Starting point is 01:17:53 Disagree. No? No, I don't know. I can't remember. I haven't seen my cousin Vinny. Oh, that's a great one. But I have seen the mur. The Marisotomi clip and it's great.
Starting point is 01:18:03 I did to watch that. Yeah, that's a good one. Lyer, liar, because you've got to circumvent the law and lies. Oh, yeah. Using energy. Okay, sure. Energy's of a man. What?
Starting point is 01:18:14 What? What? What? What? He's using his energies. I guess he is. He's cycling into the law or whatever. Okay.
Starting point is 01:18:22 Philadelphia has a great speech. This is a great movie. If you haven't seen Philadelphia, the Tom Hanks and Denzel, Washington. You probably haven't because they were busy that day. Yeah, those are a few. Can you think of any other ones? I actually couldn't see it with them because they were busy that day. So I saw it by myself in the theatre.
Starting point is 01:18:38 You went and saw Philadelphia in like 19903 or two. Yep. Did you like the Bruce Springsteen song Streets of Philadelphia? He's a Philadelphia. Yes. Good. Yeah. He's the boss.
Starting point is 01:18:47 I agree. I agree with you. Any other courtroom stuff? I mean, you mentioned like Boston League or whatever. Yeah. Do you like a wacky courtroom guy who's always at the last minute? I know everything actually Do you like that?
Starting point is 01:19:03 No, I don't Do you like like a scrappy upstart Like a rain man starring at Danos de Vitos And Matthew Damon And they have to do a case But they're the underdogs Yeah, absolutely
Starting point is 01:19:14 Their necktie's just a fish What, you just don't even wear one No The neckties are fish skeleton They got out of the garbage James That's stupid They're all that small they can afford Because they're scrappy
Starting point is 01:19:29 Yeah, okay No, a show like suits, awful. Awful. But Harvey does get the job done, doesn't he? I don't know. More often. You haven't even seen it, so you can't say it's awful? I watched the first episode, I'm like, no, thank you.
Starting point is 01:19:46 Maybe it's better. So he didn't get the job done. You didn't watch suits spin off with Stephen Amel? No. Okay, fair enough. Do you got another letter? Yes. Where is it?
Starting point is 01:19:56 I'm already here. All right, then. That's an email from Adam. Adam. Who's emailed to say, let her. She's call him AdDum? I didn't, but I can. All right.
Starting point is 01:20:05 Okay. It says letter on Australian tradition. Hey James and Mason, a long time writer, first time listener. That's been nice. Nice. I have two questions for you, but if only one of them is funny, then please read that one and ignore the other one. We can do that. We're going to read.
Starting point is 01:20:19 I'm going to read both. Okay. We'll judge. We'll tell you which one's funny. It might be neither. Yeah. Question one, is it true that if you want to get in a fight in a Sydney bar, all you have to do is finish your pint and turn the glass upside down? Is that a thing?
Starting point is 01:20:30 Well, I didn't. Maybe it was like an 80s thing. I had long believed this was a tradition, but when I told my girlfriend about it, she said I was wrong and then it was fake. More accurately, she described it as an Australian fact. Please, can you settle this for us, if only so I can immediately take my dad to a Sydney bar and turn the glass upside down when they're not looking. Is it non-in-sistic pop culture?
Starting point is 01:20:48 I've read it. I've read that before. Oh, it's largely a myth that's saying. I've never, yeah. I think the bar staff would be like, don't do that. Don't do that. But I don't know if it will get you in a fire. No, you'll get an.
Starting point is 01:21:00 angry glare from the bar staff. Yeah. But they won't fight you. No. That we, that apparently they, I've, I've heard that before as a, as a, as a, as a, now that you, now that I hear it. The idea is like, it's a signal you want to fight someone. I mean, you can, but you don't need to turn a pint glass.
Starting point is 01:21:13 No, that's right. You can say, does anyone want to fight? Who wants to do a fight with me? Yeah. Who wants to do a fight in this million dollar property? Yeah, I mean, on, on, on, on the Sydney Harbour. Let's go. Let's say no.
Starting point is 01:21:26 Debunk. Debunk. You know what? Yeah. Good question, though. It is a good question. What's the second question? Second question says, and this is completely unrelated,
Starting point is 01:21:33 but if you were hosting a film festival, what would you base it around? Films, just different films that are... Yeah, me too. That you can show in cinemas. Okay, well, since you've said that, I'm going to disagree and say the same film. The same film that I'm doing? No, the same film every time. Oh, again and again.
Starting point is 01:21:47 Yeah, I just over and over again. That's interesting. Would you pick the film yourself or would just be like, whatever? I'd be like, whoever, like, whoever I rented the venue from, I'd be like, what do you reckon is a good film? Oh, Godzilla, 998. All right. I guess we're watching that 14 times.
Starting point is 01:22:00 Thank you some guys, Grandpa. Yeah, that's right. God, but what would we really do? Would you choose a film series or genre or base it around a specific director or actor's filmography? Personally, I think I'd opt for film starring James Stewart or those directed by John Carpenter. That would be, I mean, anything that plays well to an audience would be,
Starting point is 01:22:18 and John Carpenter's stuff. Yeah, well, I watched Big Trouble in Lachana the other day. Oh, yeah, and what did he think of it? Did he? Yeah, I think so. Who? He. He did.
Starting point is 01:22:29 Okay. The good Lord above. He thought it was good. I thought you didn't think it was like, can't do any of this mysticism shit or whatever. No, he's like, yeah. I don't do any of that. No, he's cool with it. Okay, good.
Starting point is 01:22:40 He's mellowed a lot since, you know, old, O.T. Old Testament. Yeah, man. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Old Testament. Yeah, yeah. Because there's one in Melbourne called Monster Fets. It's coming up.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Yes. It's coming up soon. What thing? Do you say this Monster Fest? I, yeah. I've booked a couple of tickets to a couple of things. What are you going to see? So there's a mixture of new and old movies.
Starting point is 01:22:57 Is that right? Yeah, that's right. I'll tell you what, I have booked a ticket to Godmother, which is a film that I believe was written by Alana Pierce, who we met on the Skill Up podcast. Oh, yeah, yeah, cool. So that should be good. That's great.
Starting point is 01:23:09 All right. She does lots of cool stuff. Agreed. Why are we not allowed to do as many cool stuff? They said they'd send us to jail if we did too much cool stuff. Because I guess this podcast is cool in itself. That's right. It's one of the coolest things that exists.
Starting point is 01:23:21 So they said, you're at your limit. I disagree. They gave us the cool stuff breathalyzer. I mean, it's kind of like a back and a compliment. It's like you've done so many cool stuff. Yeah. Like you can't possibly do anymore. But then it limits us from potential cool stuff output in the future.
Starting point is 01:23:38 Not me. No, you'd go to jail apparently. Well, that's fine with me. I guess that is cool. Yeah. To be okay with that. Cool. What's a trilogy?
Starting point is 01:23:47 What's a trilogy of movies that people could see and like? Maybe I'd pick movies I haven't seen. Yeah. I've seen my cousin Vinnie. We just do that. What a, what a, what a. So you just, so this would be, movies I haven't seen what, you know what?
Starting point is 01:24:00 That is actually a great idea. Thank you. That is good. Movies that people have told you are good and you haven't seen. You've heard a good. And you know they're good. No, you don't know they're good. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 01:24:12 That's the twist. You heard they're good. You're like, I should sit down and watch this. But you don't know for sure and you don't do any research. Like you just goes, what's a good movie? And then people, I don't know, Scarface, whatever. You vaguely remember it. And you go, oh, primal rage, is that a good movie?
Starting point is 01:24:29 That's a good game. I've heard it's a good movie. I hope it's a good movie, too. You know? Yeah, that's a great idea. Thank you. I've done it already. That's a trick.
Starting point is 01:24:40 Yeah, cool. All right, great. Movies I've heard of good. But I haven't seen them. It's a gamble, but like, and you know what? People can just buy a ticket for the festival, and you can see whatever you want. Yeah. And nobody has to admit they've been.
Starting point is 01:24:55 never seen it. That's right. It could be, you'd get so many people who are like, I've actually never seen that. So do you think it should be a blind screening? So you do not know even the movie going in. No, you know. I know. Yeah, I know. But I'm like, everybody, everybody also knows. Okay, cool. But then, but you don't want them looking up on my side. But you don't have to say you've never seen it. You can be like, oh, I've seen this a million times. But I thought the, I thought it was, the concept was that I haven't seen them. Yeah, the concept is you haven't seen them. But then I have to pretend that I have. No, no, everybody else. So Who you would get is a bunch of people who haven't seen these movies,
Starting point is 01:25:28 but they never want to admit they haven't seen the movies. But they're like, I'm going in to see this. I've seen this how many times. But they all would know that then. I don't know. Maybe they don't. Maybe some people, maybe some people would be like, yeah, I'll see this. I'll see it again.
Starting point is 01:25:41 You can just pretend you're one of those. That's what I'm saying, and nobody would know. And you'd be like, no spoilers off top of you, so I'm not going to tell you. Yeah. Yeah. It's a good idea that I've happened. I think you'll be very surprised by something that happens in this movie. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:53 This is a good throwaway idea I had that I didn't think of that then you fleshed out. And then somebody's going to steal from us. Probably, yeah. Probably Alana Pierce. Sounds like something she would do. Yeah. She's always doing cool stuff and getting away with it. Well, we're going to jail apparently, which is bullshit.
Starting point is 01:26:13 Yeah, good stuff. It's probably like, probably because, you know, the manosphere or whatever. Probably. Probably. Is hated when it shouldn't be. Yeah. It's good, actually. Mason, they're going from Cam.
Starting point is 01:26:26 Go on. He says, remember years ago when James Cameron said that his wife watched an early cut of the untitled third avatar movie and broke down
Starting point is 01:26:33 crying for hours until he abandoned her and went to bed? And we're wondering why that is. Is that the question? I do remember, well, I didn't remember it before, but that has brought back a strong memory.
Starting point is 01:26:42 Do you remember any parts of fire at ash that might have caused such a meltdown? Do you remember any parts of all television? Nope. Something about Dead Wales, maybe? That was two. That was two. The one that has the most visceral reaction to, like, dead animals is the second one.
Starting point is 01:26:58 Is it, no, because they also do it in turn. Yeah, but it's old, it's old hat by the third one? Is it the bit when Una Chaplin is like, ooh, I'm don't like it. There's some evil. I guess. And the big tall blue guy, Quaric is like, Hey, baby. Hey, I'm a Native American man now.
Starting point is 01:27:16 I mean, a Native Ferbiterian man now or whatever. Great question, James. I don't know. Nothing in that movie elicited at any. emotion for me at all. I was going to say it's when one of Jake Sully's children dies, but that's in the previous movie.
Starting point is 01:27:30 Yeah. It's in two. Maybe. Is it when Sagoni Weaver connects to the tree and then they see... Actually, get special lungs. See it special lungs?
Starting point is 01:27:38 Wait, Spider gets special lungs. Maybe it's when spider got special lungs from the tree. You got special tree lungs, yeah. And the bit went at the end when they go into Avatar heaven and whatever in the internet and the earth and they're all like,
Starting point is 01:27:49 real Sikorni Weaver's in here. Do you remember the bit they go on to Avatar earth as well underwater and then the big baby turns around. Fagely, yeah. Yeah, that was in the movie. Sounds familiar. Sounds like something, but you think it's familiar.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Yeah. Look, I don't know, man. I don't know. That's a great question to ask James Cameron. Yeah, maybe it got trimmed down significantly. Maybe he's like, I don't like seeing my wife acting like this. If she acts like this again, I'm divorcing her. She's all out of sorts.
Starting point is 01:28:17 That's seven divorces for old Jim, Big Jim Cameron here. That's right. I don't know, man. They call me Big Jim divorce. People don't call me that I got bad news for you It's not about this song, is it? They call you Little Jim divorce
Starting point is 01:28:33 That's all right Yeah, it's fine Because it doesn't seem like I'm up to anything Yeah Mason, what's another letter if you have one This is from Jesus Hey Zeus Hello mates, I've been listening to the pod since episode 14
Starting point is 01:28:49 But this is my first time running in I recently visited my brother near Atlanta, Georgia and we came across an Australian bakery. I wanted to ask if you have any distinctly Aussie desserts or pastries you like. Australian bakery is wild. Yeah. But there's a whole,
Starting point is 01:29:02 you can build a whole business about that overseas. What would that even be? Yeah. Lamington's in middle slices. They might be New Zealand also. Yeah, but we're claiming. What about a pavlova? Okay.
Starting point is 01:29:13 It's baked. And they're big as well. But it's not a pastry though, is it? No. What's about an Anzac Biscke? An Anzak Biscke. I mean, maybe. Yeah
Starting point is 01:29:23 I guess Maybe it's something with an Australian flair Some eucalyptus scones Some eucalyptus scons Some eucalyptus croissants
Starting point is 01:29:31 Did we invent the cronaut Me and you? Me and you Did we invent the cronut? I think I did it Was it just me? I think I did it You watched me do it
Starting point is 01:29:39 Okay That's what I had to I don't say your recollection is it Oh wow That's very convenient for you The inventor of the cronaut Thank you It was made
Starting point is 01:29:47 The cronad is from The United States of America Yeah, probably from that Australian bakery. Probably. I guess. Anyway, I love a vanilla slice. They're good. I'm to my local coffee shop this morning.
Starting point is 01:29:59 They said one vanilla slice, please. They're like, because there was one vanilla slice. And they're like, oh, sorry, we just gave it to that other guy. That other guy in front of you just ordered it. And now I'm mad. They said that to you, I'm mad. No, I said. The other guy ordered it, I'm mad.
Starting point is 01:30:12 I'm mad for you. I'm mad on your behalf. That's nice of them. Yeah. Okay. But I love a good one. I like it. Every small town in Australia will claim that they,
Starting point is 01:30:22 have the most award-winning vanilla slice. They might too, because they're rarely bad. Yeah. Do you notice that? Yeah. I don't get them that often because they're huge. And I need to split them with somebody. I don't have any friends.
Starting point is 01:30:35 And I think you know that. Yeah. That's right. Okay. Australian bakery. I don't know what that is. No. Scones?
Starting point is 01:30:46 We do a skis. I mean, that's Englishish. Yeah, no. I don't think that's it. But like, you know. Vegetamite scones. Vegemite scrolls. Vegemite sandwich.
Starting point is 01:30:55 Vegetamite sandwich, not baked. The bread's baked, I guess. But you know a Vigemite... You're speaking on my language. Am I? Yes. I'm speaking of your language? Okay.
Starting point is 01:31:03 This ties into something you said earlier about killing a bunch of fictional characters. Darrell says, if you had to fight the Looney Tunes, how many do you reckon you could take? I mean... None, right? Yeah, but I mean, I guess it depends on... They'd kill you. Yeah. bonk on their head and the big, you know, the big lumpy bump.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Yes. Because you could take a bunch of them. Some of them are more aggressive than others. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It depends because I feel like if there's one that's coming after you, like a Yosemini Sam. Sure. He's on the back foot because he's a loser.
Starting point is 01:31:38 Exactly. But if you're taking on Bugs Bunny. You've got no chance. Impossible. He's a demon. Yeah. Exactly, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:31:45 Everything you did would backfire. Yeah. I mean, he could get through like 50 C tier Looney tunes. Like a doctor. Ray. Yeah. Kill him. You'd have to, if, I mean, James, it's impossible to answer.
Starting point is 01:31:59 How long is a piece of string? You know what I mean? Yeah. What is the face of God, you know? Oh, it's that avatar being, isn't it? It's the avatar thing. Turns around and the baby, yeah. Makes your wife cry for five hours.
Starting point is 01:32:11 I guess that is the answer to that question. That is an answerable question, and it's the baby that turns around. But it's, if by random chance, you, you, you, You hit all the losers first. You could go a long way. As soon as you hit the winners. And there's definitive winners and losers. You can take Edelma Fudd.
Starting point is 01:32:29 Yeah. Usamity Sam, Daffy Duck. You can get them all. Probably Coyote. I think, yeah, but also like some are losers depending on who they're fighting. Yeah. Daffy Duck is a winner depending who he's up against. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 01:32:42 You know, if he's with Bugs Bunny, it's like he's the loser. Yeah. But often he can get the upper hand of others. Yeah. Guess we'd have to poison him. Yeah. With real poison. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:51 We just poison him with real. real human poison. Yeah, okay. Yeah, good, good. Great. That's great. Is that all the emails? I think that's all the emails.
Starting point is 01:32:59 We're shaking out the email bag. That's right. That's a good run of emails this week. I think so too. Maybe it was just all because we really crushed it as well. With our answers to the emails. Yes, Mason. Agreed.
Starting point is 01:33:09 And I found out I invented the cronut. I didn't know that. Congratulations. You owed a lot of royalties. I didn't crow that. No. I got to go. I'm just going to.
Starting point is 01:33:21 Let's just go. Let's just go? No, wrap up the show and then we'll go. Okay, folks, thank you so much for listening. We absolutely appreciate it. Thank you for telling your friends about the podcast. Because that is how we get new listeners. And if you do so,
Starting point is 01:33:32 thank you for leaving us five-star review. And if you do so, James will leave a fine and now he'll read it out for you. Got one from Rick to hear from the USA. He says, Mission Impossible 8 press tour Tom Cruise is entering McGruber territory. Love these guys. Better drop this review after James entered their last episode, praising Tom Cruise's current hair for Mission to Impossible 8.
Starting point is 01:33:52 press tour. Cruz has had a history of great hair, but growing it out of this age, it has not looked good for him. Paid with his signature, aviator sunglasses, he looks like him a cagoruba. This is timely. Speaking of Will Forte. Will Forte and Tom Cruise is back in the media. That's true. And how do you feel about this with a little bit of distance? I don't, I said, because he has similar hair right now, I think, for the digger press tour. Yeah, I don't like it. Maybe I'd probably have said it then. I think he's not doing the long hair anymore. Would you say it's good for his age? It's too, it's supposed to be like shaggy and whatever, but it's clearly can't be because of who he is and the hair dye that he would be. The things he's done.
Starting point is 01:34:35 Things that he's done and he's currently doing like, so it looks odd. Right. So no, I don't like it. Keep it short. Keep it tight. And this is from Archaic 22, also from the USA says great chemistry, great tone. Like a lot of their audience, I came to these guys. during COVID. Some will come on episode 14, but yeah. They're good. She helped lighten the days and I've been listening slash watching ever since. Really enjoy the vibe. I'll listen to what
Starting point is 01:34:59 you guys have to say even when the industry is producing little worthy of in-depth discussion because your jovial banter keeps me engaged, thoroughly appreciated. You're welcome, thank you. You're very welcome. And we invented that chronite you're reading right now. Both of us watched me do it.
Starting point is 01:35:17 Oh, correct? Wow. Interesting. You revealed you didn't do a mindfolded. That's wow. Wow. As you always claim to do. Yeah, I'm sorry. Yeah, well,

Starting point is 01:37:01 Yeah, what worth his time? Yeah. What I'm saying is we love them. We appreciate them and they are extremely funny. Yeah. But you, you know. Sometimes I look at it, I'm like, who said this? Was it me or you?

That's what I'm saying. Oh, this is good. I know this one was you. Goon with the wind was definitely you. Nice.
Starting point is 01:37:35 Nice. Nice. I like, what was that, what was that the one, the Apple show about the woman who gets scammed and the Tadiana Maslani? Oh, maximum pleasure guaranteed. That one's Cam, man. Scam, man. Nice. But I think that's good.
Starting point is 01:37:52 That's good. All right. Thank you, everybody. Next week again. He's doing all the fonts. He's so good of fonts. And he doesn't use AI either. No, that's true.
Starting point is 01:37:59 Just so you know. Unless he's doing it now, we don't know. Stupid Magic wand crap. My son loves that because he hates Harry Potter. Oh, yeah. Yeah. So he's like, yeah, stupid Magic one crap. Nice.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Got him. All right. Again, Digger, and I might see Avengers on call, but I might not. Nice. But I might. Yeah. All right, thanks everyone. What we can do is we can just,
