Starting point is 00:00:02 Welcome back everybody to another episode of the weekly planet where we talk movies and comics and TV shows. My name is James, also known as Mr. Sunday. With me as always is Nick Mason. It's great to be here. Yeah. I'm really feeling like the director of the podcast now. I should get a pay bum. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:00:16 Because you hit the record button. Yeah. And then I motion to you. And then I wait to... With a big clapboard. And then I wait until the machine starts actually recording because it's old and faulty. Yeah. And then I go, action.
Starting point is 00:00:28 But you said it silently. Yeah. Because you didn't interfere with the recording. Yeah, because I'm an artist. And a craftsman. You're okay. Can you be both? No.
Starting point is 00:00:36 A craftsman? No, you can be a craftsman. That's what I thought. More like a shartsman. Got him everybody. Write that down. Some people take notes. That's true.
Starting point is 00:00:44 That's part of the creative process. But not on my set. Get rid of it. Journal. Oh, really? Get rid of it. But you can have your phones on your set, right? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:00:51 It's an exclusively phones on set. You could sit down and have phones. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. insist on they build a conversation pit on all my sets. I don't understand that like standing on set. I guess so everybody's kind of active, but standing all day, it's fucking brutal.
Starting point is 00:01:12 It is brutal. Maybe it's because I don't have to do that. But like, God, whenever I'm standing, I'm like, I could be sitting. Yeah. This isn't. I stand when you can sit. This is Tom Holland. He's not working retail here, Christopher Nolan.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Leave him alone. Let him sit. Let him sit. Let him sit on his little tukas. Yeah. Christopher Nolan walk around the set to all the actors like, and they're just standing around. They're like, can you, can you wipe that counter? Can you wipe that counter if you...
Starting point is 00:01:35 You got time to leave and you got time to clean? That's right. No, classic Nolan. We don't like him. A real craftsman. Cratsman, I agree. Actually, I was speaking to someone the other day who said they saw The Odyssey. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:45 Guy in my gym. And he said, he didn't like it. Go on. He only liked the real bits. Did he elaborate or did you ask him to elaborate? I didn't know. I mean, I know what he means. Yeah, okay.
Starting point is 00:01:55 But, uh... I don't know what he means. I guess you know him better than I do. The real bits of the stuff where there's not a cyclops. Oh. Oh, I see. So I guess the bits when nobody's speaking or the bits when everybody's not, everybody's Greek, he likes those bits.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Okay. Is he himself Greek? I don't think so. Okay. I can't speak to that. You can't Greek to that. I definitely can't. Anyway, I thought that was interesting.
Starting point is 00:02:16 That is interesting perspective. It's an interesting perspective to talk to people outside of this insane bubble that we live in. Yeah. I try not to. But every now and then, actually, I had somebody, also at my gym. Yes. Woman, she's about my age. She comes up to me and she goes, have you seen Madam Webb?
Starting point is 00:02:31 Wow. It's recently. Recently. I guess it might, you know what's probably happened? It's reached that point. I can tell you. It's expired off one streaming service and it's appeared on another streaming service. And somebody's like, oh, I've never seen this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:43 So immediately I'm like, what's this? Like, no, no, I've ever asked me this. Yeah, it's interesting. Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, no, I've seen it. Like, I have to do for work, you know. I see most things. Please don't ask me any further questions.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I just have to see it for work. She goes, what did you think of it? And that's a moment of like, I don't want to be like, well, it's one of the worst comic book movies ever made. It's nonsense. It's a junk movie made by a corporation trying to keep the rights to Spider-Man and blah, blah, blah. I have a lot of
Starting point is 00:03:11 information about the rights issues around this show, yeah. And I'm just like, I didn't like it. I hated it. And I'm like, yeah, exactly. Okay, good. And I'm like, what? And then I was like, what? I feel Dakota Johnson should have worn the red leather jacket and the giant glasses the whole movie, but they only put her in the
Starting point is 00:03:29 end of the movie. She did have comments about like why was there Spider-Man people at the end or whatever? Because she had questions about it. And so she's like, it was terrible. And I'm like, yeah, no, yes, it is. It's truly an awful movie. She's like, I'm like, why did you watch that? She's like, well, me and my husband were looking for something to watch and so I thought,
Starting point is 00:03:46 oh, this could be all right. She's like, it took me three nights to watch it. I'm like, you stuck with that for three nights? Wow. Just I had this happen. I'm like, well, there's a rights thing with Spider-Bel. It was a biblical flight and I was stuck in my house for three days and three nights. And I had to watch the old thing.
Starting point is 00:04:00 So, you know. Yeah, yeah. So I gave a very brief rundown of the Spider-Man rights issue and whatever. But I'm like, I'm shocked that you have seen that. Wow. And it brought this to me. But you've done the right thing. It's important.
Starting point is 00:04:12 You need to share the trauma sometimes. A problem shared is a problem halved, as they often say. And no more so true than with Madam Webb or any of the Sony spa movies. Really? And maybe it's what? At least two years old? Probably more. 2024, I reckon.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Okay. Start of 2024. Okay. 2024. February. All right, then. Valentine's Day. That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:33 Fantastic. Good movie. Sydney Sweeney is in it, too. That's right. God, they had an evil Spider-Man. Imagine sticking with this over three nights. It made it feel like a streaming show. I thought you meant Sony.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Imagine them doing this. Imagine, yeah. I can imagine them doing it. It took them more than three nights to make this movie. They're great. Well, speaking of, we are looking at a comic book villain movie. That's so true, isn't it? This week with Clay Face.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Clay Face. I don't need any superheroes, Mason. and I just need villain origin stories. Same with you? I think so, yeah. You don't need Batman. You need Batman's 11th or 12th most popular villain. That's right, maybe.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Maybe, yeah. Well, I mean, I need Batman in the sense that I need to fight Superman and other superheroes, because that's all I like. Yeah, is just... Proving that he's the best one. Yeah, I just like power scaling and fighting superheroes against each other. I think that's most... Like a DC versus or a DC-K-O.
Starting point is 00:05:26 I think so, yeah. Yeah, okay. Yeah, this is the modern... This is the modern Roman debatatorium. It is, isn't it? You know, when they would get into a debate at a debate. You're always asking me if he could defeat Omneman. You're always asking me.
Starting point is 00:05:40 And I'm like, I don't know. And I'm not even listening. No, you don't even, you got opinions. Yeah. You want to talk about different lasers they can do. Different lasers? Omni Man can't do any lasers. I'm like, but what if he could?
Starting point is 00:05:51 What if you got Cyclops's lasers? That's different, isn't it? Yeah, that's different. What if he got Cyclops's visor that lets him do lasers? Yeah. What would Cyclops do there for his lasers? I'd guess he'd go to the shops and buy another visor. You might have to, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:05 He's got the money for it. Yeah. Maybe you could fight Iron Man and take one of Iron Man's visors. Oh, that's a good idea, yeah. Should a big laser out of his face. Yeah. Interesting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:14 These are interesting ideas we have. I think so. I think so. As the foremost experts in superhero movies and stuff. If you've got a problem where you've seen a movie, you don't understand, you don't like, just come and speak to us. Yeah, that's right, in person. But don't come to me and be like, hey, did you like,
Starting point is 00:06:25 okay, did you like this and I don't like it? And then you're like, I actually think it's good. And then I have to go, oh, fucking, why'd you make me have an opinion on this? Now I've got to defend it. And I don't want to. See, I always add, I think when somebody asked me about a terrible movie or a movie that I think is terrible, I always add like a buffer. Like they'll be like, hey, did you see this?
Starting point is 00:06:43 And I go, yes, I did. Did you see it recently? And then I slipped down a drain like a eel. That's exactly right. And I'm gone. And then. And they're just shouting down the drain. But I'm already gone.
Starting point is 00:06:58 I'm already by the river. Yep. Grabbed by a bear. What? Yeah. Yeah. Just scooped out of the river by a bear. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I guess I could say that out because it thinks you're at eel. That's right. Exactly. Okay. Yeah. All right. So what do you say though? So you put the buffer.
Starting point is 00:07:13 I say there's not a drain. What do you do? Well, I put in the buffer and then they tell, I go, oh, did you see that recently? And almost certainly they're ready. They're locked and loaded. And they'll be like, oh, I loved it. And then I'm just be, I'll think of the, I'll think of the whatever good thing that I liked about the movie.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Yeah. And I'm like, wasn't it interesting. There was like a Spider-Man guy, but he was evil. Yeah. And they go, yes. And I go, goodbye. Because we're walking and I found the next round. You found it already.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Lovely. Yeah. The podcast's already gone a lot of different ways, hasn't it? I agree. Well, that's movies, isn't it? It's movies. Well, speaking of, we've got some news of the week, including some Star Wars information.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I'll stop me there. Is this some news I can use? You can't use any of this? Oh, man. Can you imagine bringing any of this to the real world? What are you talking about? Sure. You've lost your mind.
Starting point is 00:07:56 I mean, if Star Wars comes up, I can only hope that they've, you know, they've seen on the internet that crocodile guy. Oh, yeah. He's the talk of the town. He's the talk of the Star Wars town, Mason. Biddy Blas. I'm the best galactic racer. I'm Biddy.
Starting point is 00:08:08 That's not what he sounds like at all. I haven't heard it. We're talking about Tycho Wittiti's next Star Wars movie and the budget of the next Star movie which is not. Oh, yeah, yeah. We should also go through a list of all the people who have been canned from Star Wars movies. We have done that multiple time. We can do more.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Well, it keeps getting bigger this list. It's good. Also, we've got some, uh, Potential locked in names for the James Bond test screening, which helped happening over the weekend. The testicular screening? Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:32 So names have heard before. Because they have to do that before. They have to, of course. Some names they've heard before, but also some, most of them we've heard before. Yep. And some ruled out. Somewhere you'd be like, oh, I thought he was in the run. He's not.
Starting point is 00:08:45 It's not my favorite joke of the episode, even though it wasn't really a joke and it was bad. It was a good joke, and this is a good episode. And you should get your testicles looked at. I agree. Yeah. By a doctor? I mean, you know, whoever's available. Okay, sure, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:58 We're also going to talk about a new DC show, potentially. Maybe a testicle model scout or something. Oh, okay. Is that a thing? Could be. What do they looking? What do you ask people on the street until one of them says they are? That's a good point.
Starting point is 00:09:10 I should do that, but what are they looking for specifically? They're looking for? Probably an elasticity. Like a heft of an elasticity? Hept an elasticity, sure. Yeah. But not too big. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Yeah. You don't want them to dwarf the rest of your body, right? I mean, maybe an outlier could be, you know? It depends what they're advertising, isn't it? Yeah, that's true. Something to think about. I'm going to keep mine private, if that's all right. All right, okay.
Starting point is 00:09:36 We've got some Netflix drama, all sorts of stuff going on. Also, not a Netflix drama, but there's some drama at Netflix. I wouldn't even know what Netflix are currently doing. That tall woman, she's out of high school and she's even taller. She's got to the workplace and she's kicking down doors. She's crazy. She's a monster. She's 5-11.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Five-11? Look out. She's going to say she nearly has to stoop when she comes through a door, but not even nearly. No. She could safely enter her own. Safely into the room. Yeah, but it's like there's some management shifts and like there's a loss of value at Netflix
Starting point is 00:10:09 and they're a bit, a bit of a tizzy. Okay. We'll talk about that. And I think that's... They're experiencing what many households all over the world have experienced a loss of value of Netflix. Yeah, you're not wrong, man. Anyway, time goes below Rob Collings, who edits this. He does that.
Starting point is 00:10:24 He does a fine job. Maybe he didn't want to hear these last. 10 minutes of... Too bad. Yeah, too bad. I imagine he just goes into a sort of white noise state during the intro. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Phases through it. Yeah, and hopefully snaps out if we say something awful and he can remove it, hopefully. Yeah, but will he catch it twice? Testicular model? Will he catch it twice? We'll find out.
Starting point is 00:10:45 We'll find out, weren't we? Yeah. So, uh, there's a new Starfighter Star Wars movie coming out next year. Sean Levy. Sean Levy. Mr. Ryan Gosling. He is, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Mr. Eva Mendez. That's right. Together. Yes. It's apparently the most expensive Star Wars film to date. Good. So that's not unjusted for inflation. But it's also like, yeah, because it's going to be 12 years after the Force Awakens,
Starting point is 00:11:07 which was the previous most expensive one. Of course that makes sense. But what I saw interesting was that the Force Awakens made $500 million in profit, whereas the Rise of Skywalker, which is the third in the sequel trilogy, only made $50 million in profit, which is good. Sure. Do you know, but... Put that in your skywarker.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Skyrocket. Sure. But like for a similar budget. It looks, there is, I would say, a more positive buzz around this Starfighter movie, but I don't know. It's going to be straightforward stuff. Yep. That's what people are.
Starting point is 00:11:36 And you're going to love this. It's set five years after the rise of Skywalker. Golden period. Mm-hmm. So that's the sweet spot. What does the universe look like without a galactic first order or a... It's the same because there'll be some other guys. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Some other guys. Some remnants. Some remnants. Who's going to rebuild the Jedi Order or whatever? Ryan Gosling, I guess. Ray in her cameo? No, Ryan Gelson. Okay.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Do you reckon he was someone who worked for Luke Skywalker or whatever? He was one of the broom boy or whatever. Could he be broom boy? No, I don't think he'd be the broom boy. Yeah. Could he be Cade Skywalker, son of Luke Skywalker? No. Or descendant of Luke Skywalker?
Starting point is 00:12:10 No. Okay, fine. Jeez, Mason. I'm just trying to throw things out there and you're just like, nah, no, no, no. That's you. Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. No. Well, speaking of Nah.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Yep. Tycho Wittiti's Star Wars movie is dead forever, probably. There it is. There's a quote. He said, it's very iced. I've got about four other movies I'm trying to do. But then he said, I say, just do come to an end. Who knows?
Starting point is 00:12:32 This is never happening. I didn't think so. Also, Clara and the Sun is apparently atrocious. Yeah, I've heard that. I saw the trailer. I thought it was all right. Looks whimsical, I guess. A testament to people who make trailers.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I saw that. I thought it was interesting. I saw the trailer for his, I think, his previous movie. Next Goal wins, which was the soccer movie. And I'm like, oh, that looks pretty fun. And, you know, it looks like a kind of bended like Beckham sports comedy. but it's got a bit of heart to it, but apparently that wasn't very good either.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Yeah. I think he's lost it. He might have, yeah. Well, because he got separated, divorced, and his wife was also a big influence over his movies. She's listed, I think, as a producer on only a couple of his movies, but I suspect it's one of those things where it's like, she would have had a hand creatively and a lot of stuff.
Starting point is 00:13:15 She just didn't get a credit. Absolutely. Yeah, so it's... So he got divorced and then he went Hollywood insane. Yeah, he did. Which happens to some people. Absolutely, it does. We love it.
Starting point is 00:13:24 We love it when that happens. So that's really exciting. No, skin off our nose. No, we don't care, man. We're not Clayface. Well, if you look at what's after, because what's after 2018, right? 2019. Yes, that's definitely one.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Blade Runner, the movie Blade Runner, that's when it said. She produced Jojo Rabbit and what we do in the shadows, which are considered two of his best. I don't know. I don't think a lot of people don't like Jojo Rabbit. Okay, well, fine. But people love what we do in the shadows. Actually, it's 2019. So, it's in the era where he's fucking up.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Floppy era. beginning of the end. Yeah, but you know, boy, Home for the Wilder people. These are all great movies. So I don't know. But he's got other things in the words. I think it's a combination of things.
Starting point is 00:14:02 I think it's probably not exclusively that his wife left him. No. But that just wouldn't have hurt. Wouldn't have helped, rather. Which is it, Mason. It wouldn't have helped. Wouldn't have hurt. Yeah, didn't hurt me.
Starting point is 00:14:12 It didn't hurt me. I don't even, I haven't even matter. You better not either because I don't want this to affect you. And in the Hollywood insanity. I promise you. Yeah. Their divorce is not going to affect me. It's not going to affect the podcast going forward.
Starting point is 00:14:26 It has in the past, I'll admit that. It's true. There's been a few rough. It was about a year or two, I think 2018 to 2019. You're talking about testicular models at one point, I remember. Yeah, but that was highlight. Was it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:37 I don't know. I still think it was in that period where this was affecting you. All right, well, then going forward, won't affect me at all. Okay, great. Yeah, I love it when someone goes Hollywood mad. They can do whatever they want. Because sometimes the results are spectacular. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:52 Not in this instance. Well, I haven't seen Clara in the sun. No. But it's what if a girl was real or whatever and wanted to dream a little dream and had a little pixie haircut and made friends with the sun or whatever the fuck. We're going to disassemble you because you're a bad robot.
Starting point is 00:15:06 You're too unique. You're too unique and you got too much spirit. Stop dancing to that old pop music. Don't do it. Actually, this is good for my family. I've changed my mind. You've changed my mind and my heart is warmed. But I'm nearly out of power.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Well, what if we all suck a song? What have we signed a song and we filled you with love? What do you think of that? It's not going to work. Just plug me in. Just plug me into the socket. Why do we have the same voice? I take on characteristics of our family.
Starting point is 00:15:34 I'm a robot. Oh, wow. Yes. You going to see this movie? No. No, James. Me neither. It is bombing.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Yeah. Eventually, maybe. I don't think you will. No, no. It doesn't seem like something I would. No, it doesn't. I've got too many other movies to get to. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Yeah. Like, and you've got to read the book, in the sum, which is based on. No, I don't. So, THR, they're saying that there's James Bond screen tests happening over the weekend. More like scream testing. Thank you. Here's some of them, finalists that have emerged,
Starting point is 00:16:03 include. Now, is this, and who are these insiders? Can we trust them? THR. They're pretty reliable. Yeah, I guess, yeah. Okay. Callum Turner. Yep, he's the new romancer guy. Yep, he's the brother of Eddie Redmayn in the Fantastic Beast movies. That's right. Cool, Wizard Man. He's in that movie. It's the purge,
Starting point is 00:16:19 but you can have sex for one night. Sex, per. Sex purge. Sex purge. Get it out of you. Sex purge. Yeah. What a weird movie.
Starting point is 00:16:28 I didn't know that's what it was about it from the trailer. So I thought it was just a romantic meeter. Yeah. Presumably and they get married and then go and have sex? I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it either. Let's say it. All I know is that like it's only been the case in this world for like a year or two
Starting point is 00:16:44 and everybody just like, this is fine. People would go insane. Yeah. Yeah. And just do it anyway. I agree. People are doing it anyway. It'd be like the...
Starting point is 00:16:52 What's the punishment? I think it's jail, but it's like, even if the penalty was death, people would still do it. Fuck yeah. I mean, you know. Yeah. Also, there'd be, like, it's... Again, I haven't seen it. I haven't seen it.
Starting point is 00:17:05 But you, like, the reason I haven't seen it is because what I can gather, it's sort of like that it's the really underbaked concept. Like, if this were, if it were illegal, there would be all sorts of people, like, businesses cropping up that are like, we've found a loophole and you can get married for a night or whatever. Or there'll be like hotels that have like a, like a, you know, electromagnetic blocking devices. So you can't, they can't tell what's going on in them. They're ruined with secret doors. Secret doors.
Starting point is 00:17:33 Yep. You know, you know, glory holes. But high tech ones. High tech ones. Yeah. Blazers and scopes and guiding arrows. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:17:44 Yeah. Drones. Definitely. You could bone on a drone? Dron bone. Hashtag drone bone. They can't. get you in the sky. They can't get you in the
Starting point is 00:17:53 three mile limit. You don't think they've got drones for shooting drone bones out of the sky, Mason? I don't know, man. Mate, I don't know. The government would get you first. Yeah. Because you're naive. It's probably true. You tumble out of the sky boating.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Which is like what I knew would happen to you. I mean, if I'm going to go anyway, that's how I'm going to go, I guess. I knew. I'd be like, I'd be falling out of the sky, all the flame being like I knew it. But it's like, I agree. I haven't seen it. Maybe they explain all of this. What if you're dating someone?
Starting point is 00:18:23 I think there's a line or something where like there's a gay... Is it an honor system? Because if you're like, I'm going on... You've got a tattoo. But I'm going on holiday. Oh, because you can go overseas or whatever. Oh, whatever. Yeah, but it knows when you're doing it.
Starting point is 00:18:35 I guess. I don't know. Your tattoo knows. We should do a live viewing. It's like an electrode. It's like a chip. It's a tattoo. Is it like when two people get close and then the...
Starting point is 00:18:44 I think so. And it detects your hormones level or something. Can you kiss? I don't know. Oh, you just ask me if I can. Yeah. Yeah, I can. I don't think so, man.
Starting point is 00:18:52 No, I can do it. You don't seem like you can do it. Anyway, Gallum Turner. Yeah. James Bond. Yeah, sure. He's kind of too famous-ish. Slow horses, Jack Loden,
Starting point is 00:19:05 talked about him before. Blonde. We mentioned this, but Josh O'Connor. Yeah. Which I think is a good choice because he looks normal. Yeah. He's a normal guy. And he's tall, but he also looks like you can throw a punch.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Yeah, exactly. And again, he can do sleaze ball. A lot of people like, of these people, like, oh, not handsome enough. for whatever and it's like he's not supposed to be that. Supposed to look like a guy. I think Pierce Brosner has skewed the skewed the results.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Skewed everything's fucked everything up for all of us. Exactly. And he's still good looking. You seen him? What's going on? Why are we still good looking or whatever? And he was Dr. Faites? What the fuck?
Starting point is 00:19:37 Right. That was he had a big belt-shaped bowl on his head. Right. And he was supposed to be like 97 years old in that movie. He could easily steal Cyclops's visor. Easily from a distance using a portal. Then he'd have Cyclops' as laser vision. Yeah, straight out of him.
Starting point is 00:19:51 Bang, bang. That's the noise they make. Bang, bang. That's right. Cool, man. Yeah, pretty good. Along with other unknown people. But it's interesting that Jack O'Connor,
Starting point is 00:20:00 O'Connell, sorry, from Sinners. Yeah. He was rumored initially, but apparently that's not the case. I would like that as well. Well, too bad. Is he tall? I don't think he is. Let me show.
Starting point is 00:20:08 What is out? How tall do you want him to be? He's got to be... He's 5'8. Not tall enough. No, enough for a man. I mean, what do you reckon Daniel Craig really is? Here we go.
Starting point is 00:20:19 Here we go. Here we go. This is where we talk real. height. You know how we used to be the official podcast ofcomicbook movie.com? Should we become the official podcast of Celebrit Heights? Of whoever people. So he's listed,
Starting point is 00:20:30 he's apparently celebrity heights. He's 5'10. Okay. It's like my height. All right. I'm not tall enough. I don't think he is. No,
Starting point is 00:20:36 he's definitely not tall enough. Hang on who we're talking about here? Me or, me and Daniel Craig. You're saying Daniel Craig isn't tall enough to be James Bond, even though he was James Bond for a decade. Can't do it, man. Okay.
Starting point is 00:20:47 Yeah, can't do it. No, I don't really think it matters, but I do feel like Jack O'Connell is, he's too light as well. Daniel Craig's like a gorilla in those movies. That's true, yeah. Makes sense to me. And you liked his tiny suits.
Starting point is 00:21:00 No, I didn't. I didn't like that. I suppose at this point there's been enough, I feel like there's been enough variation in the James Bond look than any of these guys I think would work. Yeah, okay. I think I think Calampton would work. Or is he too tall?
Starting point is 00:21:12 How's tall? I don't think he's too tall. Well, speaking of, I can look into that, but speaking of two tall... He's very to do a leap, part. Agreed. Big tall Jacob Alorty is not testing. What do you think of that?
Starting point is 00:21:21 any kind of testing, even though some are very important. I think he should do some testing. I've seen some of those pap photos of him. Of his testicles. Those were my photos that I took personally. All right. Calverturn is real high to 6'1 and a quarter. Okay.
Starting point is 00:21:35 So it's at least 6.1, apparently. Okay, good. Too tall. No, that's fine. It's fine, yeah. Even though, he'd be an okay. Also, I kind of, like, when you think about it, what am I thinking about?
Starting point is 00:21:45 You're thinking of Sean Connery. Yeah. Like, back in the day, I think people were like, Oh, he's very handsome. And he's very handsome. Yeah. But he's like it's a different... It's a different type of handsome.
Starting point is 00:21:56 It's a different type of handsome, isn't it? Yeah. He's barely 6-2-ish. He's Dan James. Yeah, 6'1 under the ground. 6-2 under the ground. Got him. Got his ass.
Starting point is 00:22:05 Yeah. Anyway, sources say there'll be three components to what they're looking for. Okay. Height, width, testicles. No, it's... Stunts. Yes? Camera presence.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Gerth. Dialogue. Stunt's camera presence. Is this dialogue? Are they making him do a forward roll in the casting room that's so small your, your roll, but that you put your foot through a wall? Yeah, maybe, maybe. Put your foot straight into a dry wall, kick some cables out of the wall.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Maybe. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, what do they do in that? They must test them like running or something. Because you can't, you couldn't hire someone and then be like, shit, he can't run. Yeah. He looks crazy.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Yeah, we've got to swap him out for a stunt double every time he runs. Yeah. Yeah, maybe just, I maybe just like, I was, I was. I would guess it's just like movement stuff, like that actors do anyway. Yeah. You know, like, just moving around a room and it'd be like, you know, with, I reckon it'd be like they'd bring in a stunt guy. Yeah. And they'd be like, okay, we're going to test this thing.
Starting point is 00:23:06 He's going to throw a punch. You're going to block the punch. You're going to punch him or whatever. And you just, they do a test run and then they just film it and see how it looks or whatever. Okay. Yeah, that makes sense. Do they look like they can do what they're supposed to be doing? Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:23:17 And was the other two, girth and camera presence and dialogue. Because you remember famously Sam Worthington's James Bond. Goy, Goy, boy, how you going? Yeah. Got any British Pounds for me? The secret government British stuff, MI6 or whatever.
Starting point is 00:23:33 That's right. That's lovely jubbly. Who would like a warm pint at a London tavern with me, James Bond. I'm James Bond. He's wearing that fucking inside out suit jacket. Yeah. He's got that stupid-ass fucking haircut. People should look it up.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Oh, because it's like a bowl, homemade cut. You know, yeah. It's the Josh Hart did late 90s haircut or whatever that he sported. Oh, bad. Gettay, boys. Ghetto boys. Ghetto boys. Welcome to the bloody.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Whatever. Anyway, exciting. It looks like they're at the tail end of whatever they're doing. Yeah. Goyne boys, too. His new Shrake and Not Sturd. That would be awful. Right.
Starting point is 00:24:16 Hmm. Dead by and Mason. Oh, yes. They've rung in. Oh, yes. With some new information. They rung you directly. Yep.
Starting point is 00:24:21 wasn't good news, Mason. Oh, that's a shame for you. It was a big threat. Oh, no. Yeah, normal. It's a normal. It's normal. They ring you.
Starting point is 00:24:28 Yeah. I guess you gave them my number. I did, yeah. Yeah, I was getting a lot of calls and text from them and like it's like, you know. Cut out the middle man. Cut out the middle man, exactly. I'm like, they said, can you give me his number for threatening him? And I said, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Definitely. Yeah. Yeah. So they also told me after the various threats. Yes. That the penguin show, because I had to pick up, because it might be also hot Hollywood news. And it often is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:50 It often is. It often is. but most likely threats. Yeah. But sometimes they'll be like, oh, by the way. But The Penguin Showrunner and executive producer, Lauren LeFrank, she's in talks to join a new Poison Ivy-focused TV series for Warner Brothers. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:01 As a producer, though. All right. At this point. The latest news is she's not writing, and it won't be part of the Matt Reeves's universe, which the Penguin was. Yes. So presumably... And you'll another season of that?
Starting point is 00:25:13 No, I don't think so. Okay. Yeah. It's exclusively doing new seasons of sugar, I guess. Oh, that's a good show, maybe. I haven't finished the second season, but I could. No one could stop me. You can do a lot of things, I believe it did.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Yeah, this makes sense, I guess, doing a minor villain TV. They're doing a guerrilla grod moment at the moment. That's true, yeah. And the penguin did work. Yeah. So poison ivy or whatever. Yes. Why not?
Starting point is 00:25:36 Okay. Is this person, so they were a writer on the penguin? Are they a writer producer? Like, is that there? Or is this like a promotion, I wonder? She was showrunner and executive producer on Penguin. Okay, then. It says on this, at the moment, she's,
Starting point is 00:25:49 just the producer. Just the producer. Yes, the producer. Which can mean anything. It can mean absolutely anything. Absolutely. Anyway, Mason, it's Netflix drama time. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:25:59 Hello. Hold the phone. Do you consider laying off a thousand people drama? Yes. That's a big drama. That's a big thousand dramas happening right there. But not only that, among the thousand is both chief content officer Bella Bajaria and film chief Dan Lynn.
Starting point is 00:26:17 So he's responsible for all the Netflix film. the past years. Extraction? Yeah. Extraction too. Two extraction. Wow. And you know, you're getting like a Ben Affleck's animals where they put
Starting point is 00:26:27 300 million dollars into or whatever and people are like, this isn't good actually. Apparently there was some clashing around Narnia, around Greta Goerwitz and I've heard that, yeah. The internal word is like from Netflix is like, well, this isn't very good and that might be true. But nobody at Netflix knows what a good movie is. I was going to say that I don't know at all. Again, I'm not saying that's not true.
Starting point is 00:26:45 It could be true, but like. But they've made one. billion Netflix original movies and four of them are good. One's the one where Jack Reacher fights a robot. Sure. The one from the guy from Green Lantern plays an army guy. Yep, a Rebel Ridge. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:27:00 And then two extraction movies, so that's four. That's four movies. That's the big four, they call them. On the Mount Rushmore of acceptable Netflix movies, it'll be those four movies. So it's Chris Hemsworth's head twice. That's right. Oh, and the knives out or whatever. Oh, yeah, can knives get out?
Starting point is 00:27:16 Yeah. One executive insider has said that, Part of Dan's appeal, who's Dan Lynn, the film chief. He's got that Dan appeal. Yeah, some people have it. Like, our Prime Minister Dan Andrews. He's got that Dan appeal. He's got that Dan appeal. I say throw him in jail.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah. Dan Lynn. Whoever. Well, James, all I want to do is decree that somebody is thrown in jail and they get thrown in jail. That doesn't matter to me who it is. No, doesn't. Who cares? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:38 That's exciting. Lock them up. Lock them up. Throw away the kick him in the butt. Uh, when... That's fine, right? Um... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Yeah, cool. So he was hired apparently because of his dispassionate approach to budgets and cutting output. God, that's what you want, isn't it? That's what you want here as an artist. I don't know. Who cares? I don't know. I mean to cut stuff.
Starting point is 00:28:01 Yeah, no money. No money for you. I'll take some money, though. Damn, he's got that Dan appeal, though. Yeah. Which is what Co-Ceotent Sorrentos wanted at the time. And they like that about him. But that same dispassionate personality ultimately cost him his job.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Because you get whatever movie's net. Netflix have been doing, I can't name them. I'm going to open up Netflix right now, and we're going to see what comes up first. Yeah. It's probably a bunch of comedy specials for absolute fuckwits. If I had to guess, just a guy being like, oh man, can you see what's going on out there?
Starting point is 00:28:35 Oh, it's below. Oh, that's the Josh Hartton show that's apparently all right. Yeah, I've heard it's all right. I've heard it's all right. I've heard it's all right. Norm MacDonald documentary. Oh, yeah. That's not them, though.
Starting point is 00:28:45 New season of The Gentleman. Didn't do all that TV. They're streaming. East Davidin, Hot Stuff. Is it? I don't know. I haven't seen it. Unabomber, hot stuff.
Starting point is 00:28:54 Oh, they did have hot stuff, didn't it? There's been a bunch of Unabomber shit. What are we doing? What are we doing? Yeah, great question. Can't go on my Netflix, so they've got to put a code into my computer. Oh, Theo Vaughn. Oh, he's great.
Starting point is 00:29:08 He's great, Mason. Just a guy. And a season of love is blind. I guess they just do... Season 11, I believe, a show that I used to watch. They just do reality shows now, so that's good. Well, it's not only that, and I want to talk about what else they've been doing. Oh, okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:29:22 God, who's watching Netflix? It's saying it's me. It's me, James. From now, like a Breaking Bad. See, again, shows they don't have. Well, they got Gladiator, too. Oh, I love that one. I love that one.
Starting point is 00:29:39 You said it's one of the worst movies ever happen. I said, I loved it, and that Paul Meskell should be James Bond, and he should have a pet, one of those mutant panthers. whatever in the movie. That's what I said. I do remember you saying something like that. I can't even tell what the Netflix original ones are and who cares. Anyways, but his exit means that there's room for more people to come in. And some of the names that they've considered.
Starting point is 00:30:04 So we've got Pam Abdeed, Michael DeLuca, who were over at Warner Brothers. And they're out. And apparently they might be courting DC Studios co-CEO Peter Saffron. Saffir's. Because he's Warner Brothers contract, as with James Gunn, is up next year. Loose Lips, Saffir. Yeah, so that could, they could go in that direction. And if the tide is shifting...
Starting point is 00:30:23 Don't they know Saffron's loose lips sinks studios? Yeah, and yeah, they probably do know that, and they like that because they like losing all this money. Also, but apparently because of all these people being fired, Sarandos has no, they're saying that because he doesn't have anybody next to him who's, you can blame. Sure, absolutely. It's all falling to him at this point. Man, he should have, I mean, that's what they've done. That's what James Gunn's done. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:43 He's got the four guy, Peter Safran here next to him, you know? So also Netflix's bosses say that there's the reason, were you checking if that was recording? Yes. Nice. Is that the, uh, the, the, uh, the lack. And sometimes I just like to, you know, like to snap. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Also, like, do do do.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Like that, you know. Nice. Two and a half men or whatever. Sometimes I just hope this turns into a musical. It's never going to happen. And every week, I'm dashed on the rocks of despair. But it's fine. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Yeah, yeah. I know. It's good. Uh, every podcast starts with it. Collings cuts it out. That's me going, do-da-do-do. And then me going, welcome back everybody. Shub-do.
Starting point is 00:31:23 Netflix's boss said the lacklust of new content is also to blame for their disappointing 20-26. And they've also said... I made a mistake when I suggested we should just make lacklust and new content. Dispassionately. Yeah, dispassionately. I said content. They said, do you mean lack-lust and new movies and TV shows? I said, no.
Starting point is 00:31:39 Content. Well, yeah, it is content at this point because I want to talk about that. Make everything a browser game. You play on your phone. They do that too. But long, so the reason also is there's long gaps between seasons. They also have no squid game. Longer gaps, I said, and I regret that now.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Yeah, no squid game. Wednesday, under-delivered hard. There's no more strangest things. All they're doing animated stuff. Morgan Stanley said they're also fighting harder than ever to stay relevant. Morgan and Stanley are saying that. Wow. And stock prices have plummeted.
Starting point is 00:32:05 There were $120 a share last year, and now they're 70. Less. And also, since they lost... But I say buy the dip. Yeah, great. They could get longer, though. Well. So you're saying people buy now.
Starting point is 00:32:17 I'm saying buy now, and that is financial advice. So, don't buy anything. Don't buy anything we say, just to be clear. And also, since Warner Brothers lost, sorry,
Starting point is 00:32:28 since Netflix lost Warner Brothers to Paramount, Netflix has aggressively ramped up podcasts and other things in an effort to get people over. Excuse me? Yeah, so like. Excuse me Netflix? They've signed deals with Spotify, Bastel Sports,
Starting point is 00:32:41 I heart media, Jay Shetty's On Purpose. The Weekly Planet podcast. No, not yet. Come on guys. And then also, like I've mentioned, there's just guys from YouTube who were just on, like, that guy, Salish and... Salish and Andy.
Starting point is 00:32:53 That really old redhead man. Oh, and a little girl, whatever. And the girl who is making her go to, like, the worst school in America to hold a baby over a river or whatever. I don't know. It's fucking atrocious. They also had an NFL, they tried some NFL stuff. They tried GTA 6 as like a trailer reveal.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I saw that. I didn't see the trailer, but I saw it come up on my phone. Yeah, I didn't watch it either. Well, not on Netflix. No. So, like, It seems like their approach was content. Content.
Starting point is 00:33:18 As opposed to... Entertainment. Who wants to watch a fucking podcast on Netflix? Am I? No, I don't know. Why wrong in that? No, I mean, it is where James, we're straying ever further from God. And by that, I mean, podcasts are free in their...
Starting point is 00:33:32 Not if we finish building that tower to him. That's true. Podcast is supposed to be... All I'm saying is we've neglected it for long enough. That's true. We need to get back to work. We'll get to it after this. We had to talk after this.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Dash yourselves on the Rock of Despair or whatever. And then... Big Sandwich.co And you'll see live video of us building a tower to God. And we'll get there. And we'll prove God wrong. He's not going to push us over.
Starting point is 00:33:54 I doubt it. I doubt it very much. He's got to be happy to see us. And we'll both be speaking the same language on the next episode. But what I'm saying is, podcasts used to be free and by lunatics. Yep.
Starting point is 00:34:04 That's the point of podcast. Exactly. The more you add celebrities and normal people and connecting it to a big thing and now you've got to... And you film it in a studio. Subscribe to a streaming place. platform to watch it.
Starting point is 00:34:16 It's just a show then, isn't it? Yeah, it's a show. It's just a show with racist guys. You know? And it used to be podcasts with racist guys. Yeah, that's right. It's different now. So content, man.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Here's a question for you. What is the last thing you watched on Netflix? And I'm sure I have, but I cannot for the life of me remember. Well, it'll come up if you look at Netflix. It'll tell you. So I can tell you the last thing I watched, apparently, was some of the movie Honey Don't, which is the, um, Incredible.
Starting point is 00:34:46 It's the one of the Cohen brothers and Margaret Qualley is in it and Charlie Day is in it and it's like a detective thing. And I can tell you I got that far through it. What's that? A third, basically. Maybe a third through it, yeah. God, did I watch some of tires? Maybe that was a last thing I watched. What also I would say is that normally this panel would be filled with all the other things you'd watch, but it's just that.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah, mine's blank too. It's like, do you want to continue watching and there's nothing. Yeah. Well, you know what it should also do. Maybe beef season total? It should also be, it should also show you like all the subscription fees you paid. Oh, yeah. And total them up over a year.
Starting point is 00:35:23 And I can go, oh, I paid $400 to watch a third of Honey Don't. Yeah. And then it should say, do you want to cancel Netflix? You're probably sure. We're being honest now. You probably should cancel Netflix. But then what happens if, you know, we have to watch some more episodes of Smallville, for example? Exactly.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Then I've got to sign back up. I don't know how to do that. God. Apparently, I watch the trailer for Star. Viking distance under trailers I watched. Is that Steven Segal or Jean-Claude Van Damme? That is Bruce Willis. Bruce Willis, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:52 And I also watched the trailer for Ricky Jervais's mortality, but I think that just played. Because I did not watch that. Also, you think that that was just a trailer that is explaining that Ricky Jervase will die one day. God. So, yeah, I don't know, man. Yeah, pretty cool. Pretty cool news from Netflix. They've had a good run, haven't they?
Starting point is 00:36:11 Shit stuff. And they'll continue along, like, zombified. for quite some time because like us who just haven't unsubscribed yet. I'm watching a HBO Max. I'm watching an Apple Plus. Absolutely. I'm watching a Disney Plus. I'm even doing a Disney Plus, man.
Starting point is 00:36:27 Disney Plus is giving me more bang for my buck. I mean, we're watching Crystal Lake on Stan Australia. This feels like the end of Myspace in a lot of ways. Well, you know, nothing's too big to fail except for this podcast. That's so true, isn't it? And that tower to God we're currently, we've got to get back to that. Yeah, we're nearly done too. I'm joking, obviously, but we do need to.
Starting point is 00:36:44 get back to that. Yeah, agreed. And he's not going to push us over, is he? That's what I'm saying. It's going to be proud of us. Hey, great. Should we move to the next segment? We're going to be able to sit by his side. Do you think he'll let us? I think he'll let us sit on his lap. Wow, okay. I suspect. Yeah, okay. I suspect, basically. That's nice. Next thing we review? Next thing we review. Next thing we review. There it comes. Also, we are recording this on Friday. So, standard disclaimer. Yeah. If Tom Holland explodes. Someone on Reddit I saw, I've made a website. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Has Tom Collins? Tom Holland exploded. Okay. So if you do want to know, there is a way of it. I mean, check the website beforehand. Yeah. Absolutely. So if incredible Hollywood news happens, like if Tom Holland explodes,
Starting point is 00:37:28 like if he's somewhere and he sees a man holding a shiny coin and the man makes the shiny coin disappear and they go, oh, what's that behind your ear, Tom Holland? And he pulls the coin out from behind Tom Holland's ear. And he goes, ooh, and then he explodes. Yeah. We didn't get it. We didn't know. We didn't know at the time.
Starting point is 00:37:43 We would have handled this way more. sensitively if that hadn't happened if that were the case. Also, there's might be in a sneak peek at a Benj's Doomsday or something which we're going to just miss at some baseball game or some shit. All right. Anyway. All right, mate. All right, mate.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Clayface. Go on. On a budget of a measly $44 million dollars. That's barely any money at all. According to Variety, when you look at what Sony was spending on their villain movies and whatever. Trillions of dollars. Yeah, probably trillions of dollars on Madam Webb. No, that wasn't a villain. It felt like watching some
Starting point is 00:38:14 something sinister though, didn't it? Very villainous. And what if a man was a lion? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Jared Laird. And had a little brother who was a little chameleon man. And Jared Litter's a horrible vampire man. Yeah, sure, all those ones.
Starting point is 00:38:25 And probably others that we've forgotten. Venoms. Venoms. Yeah. So, you know, 44 is a reasonable amount of money to put into something like this. It looks like it's going to have about a 25 million-ish US opening weekend
Starting point is 00:38:35 and about another 20 to 25 million in other places in the world. So one day this will make its money back. I would say it's going to make its money back. Yeah, for sure. I don't think it's going to be huge. It's also, it's got unexpected competition with the documentary. Now you can see everything.
Starting point is 00:38:50 Oh, the Nathan Fielder documentary, yes. Which is actually showing it 800 less cinemas. Speaking of shape-changing chameleons, those two. Well, is he a shape-changing chameleon or is he just a deadpan guy? It's that one. Yeah. But Elizabeth Holmes, there's something going on there. I agree.
Starting point is 00:39:07 Something sinister and crime-ridden. I don't know. I haven't watched the documentary. Me neither. It's not out here yet. Yeah. It's also those films like Wildwood is out, but that won't make any money, even though it looks pretty good. Yeah, there's probably still a few screenings
Starting point is 00:39:17 of obsession going around. For sure. People are probably choosing to see obsession. Clar and the Sun is making $2 million. That's making $2 million. Street Fighter is also still happening. That's true. I don't think it's got like a 63% drop off second week.
Starting point is 00:39:30 And yes, you can put that in the promos. Street Fighter is still happening. Still happening. Question mark. It's still happening. Anyways, what do you think the story was? James, let me tell you this. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:40 A man is brutally disheartedly. figured by a mob boss, but then he gains incredible powers that allow him to impersonate the mob boss's crew and then take revenge. But enough about Darkman. Enough about the movie, enough about the movie Darkman. Sam, uh, Ramy's Darkman. Sam Ramey's Darkman that came out decades ago. Based on the comic book character Darkman. No, original character. He invented it. That's a trick. That's a great. Yes. There's even a moment where he's, has changed. Who are you talking about? The Clayface Man. And he looks like unmasked. dark man with the jaw and...
Starting point is 00:40:15 Correct. There's a lot of dark man in there. There's heaps of dark man in this. And people, I think, have forgotten that dark man existed. We've got a commentary on it, actually. That's true. The, um, the, when I saw a street fighter, I met a, there was like five people in cinema.
Starting point is 00:40:27 No, there's like, there was three people in cinema, including me. Was it five or three, Mason? It was three, including me. And I met a listener. Three weird guys. Three weird guys. And one of the weird guys was Neil, who was a listener of the podcast. And last night, I watched, uh, this movie, Clayface.
Starting point is 00:40:40 And Connor was in the audience. And he was also a listener of the podcast. cars. And I said, have you seen Darkman? He said, I haven't seen Darkman. I said, you should see Darkman. Because you'll be like, huh. And there's a weekly planet commentary for it. That's right. Well, people have said like, oh, this is the... The substance. Yeah, that or like, this is the equivalent of like Morbius. This is absolutely better than Morbius. Or being like, well, this is not as good as Joker. I didn't even know if that's true. I think it... Joker's more kind of... I'm on the record as a not liking Joker.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Yeah. Jokers also, I think it pretends to be... pretends. It's like, it's kind of like, well, this is high art. This is elevated comic book. But I don't really think it is. Yeah, uh-huh. But this and that does have talk show stuff. It does, doesn't it? It's got that guy. It's got Rob Brydon. Rob Bryden is doing talk show stuff. But yeah, I've written here yet, this is mostly dark man. And for those people who don't know, which you probably do, this is set in James Guns DCU, so the same universe is Superman, Supergirl, Lanterns. Specifically, it's set in Gotham City home of Batman. So if this is a tease
Starting point is 00:41:44 for anything, it's what Gotham looks like. Yeah, exactly. And it sucks in Gotham. Just a city. No, I think it's got more personality than Just a City. A little bit, yeah. But it's not like the narrows in Batman
Starting point is 00:41:54 Beginners or whatever. I think in a more... Because there's no like, oh, there's particular landmarks. You don't see any of that stuff. There's rudens. Is there? No, there is not.
Starting point is 00:42:04 I was going to say, there probably is like Gothen hints and characters in it, but there's not a lot. I think in a more, James, a more robust superhero landscape, box office landscape. People would be like, oh my God, my God, this is our first look at Gotham, we've got to go see this just because it's a first look at Gotham, we've got to see everybody's going to see it. And it would be like a banger. Like if this was like phase two of Marvel era, people would be like, let's go to the ceremony. We cannot wait to see Gotham.
Starting point is 00:42:32 Yeah. And we're going to people are going to be blogging about all the different Gotham locales or whatever. But I think the architecture, it's not quite Tim Burton's Batman. In fact, it's quite a long way away from that. But it's like, I think it's got a, if you contrasted to Metropolis and the Superman movie, I think it's got, it does have very much a personality of a sign, which I think is good. Yeah, I agree. I think also it's, well, they also looked at like cities from like the 70s and 80s and gave it that kind of vibe.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Because it is a prequel because it's set before Creature Commandos, which has Clayface in it, which is this Clayface. And he's full on in the Creature Commandos, he's full on Super Bowl. villain, Clayface. He's full on man. And he's like fully figured out his powers. Yeah. But like, just to be clear, if you were expecting it, this is in no way a Batman story. No. This is like a B-tier Batman villain narrative. And I quite liked it. I thought it was pretty solid. I think it's, I think it, I think it ebbs and flows for me. For sure. I think there were some bits that were like, again, that were just Darkman. And I think there were some bits like there are some, there's some character interactions that are sort of on up on par with more.
Starting point is 00:43:37 I think. Absolutely. Some science stuff. There was there was points in it that I thought were where it kind of gels more and I think there were some points about it that were very, I think, very satisfying. Yeah. In a way. So to actually talk about the plot is so it's about a guy named Matt Hagen and he's an actor and he's quite famous and people like him. He's on the way up. And then he's like, I'm going to sleep with this mob boss's girlfriend or whatever. Even though I know. Even though I know. And then he wakes up the next morning and the mobsters chop his face to bits. Yeah. And then he loses it all. And then he finds it. And he gets cancelled.
Starting point is 00:44:09 He does also get cancelled. Yeah. James Gunne requires that now in all, his DCU projects. He has to get cancelled and then he gets special magic powers for the power of creativity. And then everybody loves him, but he's good. But this is a villain story as well.
Starting point is 00:44:24 There is not a redemptive arc. I think there could have been more, though. As in more villainous. More villainous. So then he's looking through a glossy magazine that once had his beautiful face in it and he discovers there's a scientist and she is built, she's developing this nanotechnology that can fix everything.
Starting point is 00:44:42 And he's like, well, I'll go to her and she'll fix my face with nanotechnology. I hope nothing bad happens. It turns me into a clay face. But then a bunch of cool stuff happens also. Yeah, he does. We can do all sorts of shiftings and mudmen and stuff. I think he, I think the biggest downfall of this movie is that they have decided to make him more likable and more sympathetic than he should be.
Starting point is 00:45:06 Okay. I think the only really bad thing he does is he's warned against sleeping with this woman and he does it anyway. See, there's a thing. I potentially, but so after he, the mob boss who cuts his face up, he goes and he tries, takes him to trial to prove that all this stuff happened. And the mob boss then goes back into his past and finds all these people to speak badly about him. So he gets doubled cancel. Yes. Face cut off and then, and then canceled.
Starting point is 00:45:33 But there's also never a point where it's like, oh, that definitely didn't happen. So potentially he was a bad person I mean again I think there is an ambiguity there I don't know whether it is on purpose Yeah But I guess I guess I wouldn't say he's a good guy at any point
Starting point is 00:45:49 He's like he's lucky and he's privileged And he's nice Because people are nice to him And he's on the way up And he's welcomed everywhere And he's beautiful I think he could have been more of a psycho I'll give it okay
Starting point is 00:45:59 Well here's an example But then I guess the fall is bigger Yeah yeah yeah But I also But I think I think he could be trying his best to be a better person, but ultimately. So, okay, here's an example I think could have worked more. So there's a, he's got a best friend character in it who's also an actor.
Starting point is 00:46:18 He's an animal. And he's, you know, he's more of a struggling actor. He's a working actor, but they've been with friends for years. There's a scene in the movie Jay Kelly, young Jay Kelly, pre George Clooney, where he, well, he visits an old friend. And what we learn is that when they were both young, struggling actors just starting out, Jay Kelly went with his other actor to an audition and his friend botched the audition and then Jay Kelly sort of swept in and nailed the audition and became George Clooney.
Starting point is 00:46:44 And became George Clooney and this other guy was sort of left in the dust. And you'd be like, well, ultimately that guy probably wouldn't have made it because he didn't have, he didn't have the George Clooney stuff. But it's still like a dirty dog thing to do. I think it would have been more fun if he was like that to this guy. Okay, sure. He treated this guy badly and he was, and there would be more reason for the the friend to be on the outs with him or if he had this constant
Starting point is 00:47:12 like he was sort of on the coattails of this guy but he also really resented him for all the things all the things that okay I can see that I think he should have been more of like a Hollywood psycho kind of character where you see him as charming yeah beautiful but then we see him in the present day
Starting point is 00:47:30 because I don't like the idea of him You know, they've dragged up all these stories from his past, and maybe he wasn't a good guy back then, but it does seem like he's dragged himself. I think it'll be better if he was a worse guy, because then you'd be like, I don't like him, but... But I think they want you to sympathize with him. I think that's...
Starting point is 00:47:46 I see what you're saying. That's the movie's downfall, I think. Okay, yeah, I can see that. I think also, because I... This is directed by James Watkins, but it's written by Mike Flanagan, who they wanted to get directed. He wanted to direct it, but he's doing the new Exist's movie,
Starting point is 00:48:00 which is like a patent thing for him. So he wrote like the first draft. And you might know James, I'll stop you there. Did he write the first draft or did he just copy and paste the script for Dark Man? Did he copy and paste the script for Dark Man? I don't know for a fact, but yes. Somebody should ask him. So James Watkins...
Starting point is 00:48:14 Somebody should stop him on the red carpet. It would be like, excuse me. Michael. Michael Flanagan. Michael Vincent Flanagan. So he directed those James Watkins shut up and dance, the Black Mirror episode. Oh, yeah. That's one of the nice ones.
Starting point is 00:48:25 No. Wait, which one is... Oh, it's the one where the kids are pedophile. Yeah. I remember. I thought for a second it was the one. where San Juan San Juanita Perro
Starting point is 00:48:33 No I thought it was the one where The people Are in a nap? Yeah Everybody's in a dating app It's not that one It's a pedophile The kid's a pedophile
Starting point is 00:48:41 Yeah The kid from Andor The kid from Andor as well Everybody's in this Anandor and it's a pedophile Agreed Mason Yeah So yeah I agree
Starting point is 00:48:48 I think it would have been more interesting If they had to reveal That he was always terrible And he's just nice Because he's good looking And people want to do stuff for him And whatever But also like
Starting point is 00:48:58 It does kind of highlight When he descends into madness and he starts looking like different people and taking on different personas then it kind of scrambles his idea of who he really is and then it kind of calls back to like when he was just an actor he didn't really even have a personality
Starting point is 00:49:14 like you see him doing like theater kind of inspirational talks and he's sitting on the edge of the stage or whatever and he's just giving just fucking nothing advice to people about you just got to stick to your dreams and I came here with a dream and now look at me now
Starting point is 00:49:27 I guess that's true yeah but it's like yeah but you're talented but you're just handsome also, you know. Yeah, I also maybe feel that that should have been further up front that he's blank when he's not. Yeah. Like there's a bit, there's an element to the story where like he loses, like, it's a bit Dr. Strange, where he gets disfigured and then he decides to try this civil case and then he loses all his money
Starting point is 00:49:50 and he has to give up his beautiful apartment. He has to go in a dingy Gotham Narrows apartment kind of thing. I think there maybe should have been more to like he finishes acting and he just goes home. when he just sits and stares at a wall kind of thing. He's in this beautifully appointed apartment and he's just like, oh. I don't have anything going on internally.
Starting point is 00:50:08 I don't know. Or externally, except that he's beautiful. He is beautiful and that's important. Yeah. This movie also has probably has something to say about how you shouldn't mistreat people who are disfigured or like what's not, you know.
Starting point is 00:50:21 It sort of talks about that. Yeah, but I also don't think they're not, it doesn't lean on like, well, he's a villain because he's disfigured kind of thing. No. No. But there is also, I think there is some stuff cut from this.
Starting point is 00:50:31 His father gets a mention the mob bosses, they know his father. And there is a moment where he and his girlfriend go to the fun fair and he wins her an elephant. Oh yeah,
Starting point is 00:50:42 you're thinking of the movie Darkman. I think of the movie Darkman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But where he, it's like a second and he transforms into his father and it's Aaron Paul. And it is actually Aaron Paul
Starting point is 00:50:53 because I looked into it. So I think... When is this? This is in the nightclub sequence. Is it? Yeah. It's like a fraction of a And I'm like, I think that was Aaron Paul.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Yeah. So they must have been in a flashback. Well, it would have been in a flashback. It would have been because he was mistreated as a kid and whatever. I think that was the idea. But yes, it was 100% Aaron Paul. I did check. So I think there was more stuff about his past.
Starting point is 00:51:15 And I think maybe they would have were leaning into the more of the tragedy of his upbringing. But I don't know. A lot of that, you know. Yeah. Yeah. Also, I think the gore in this for the, I saw a lot of people. I had to watch some of it through like, you know, club. of somewhat closed eyes and hands over my face.
Starting point is 00:51:32 Some people I've heard say, but like, oh, they cut away from some stuff. It's not really R-rated. Like, there's a bit where he smashes a guy's head in with a big mace fist. Oh, yeah, that is cut away. But you see most of it. Like, he's cutting open his face
Starting point is 00:51:44 and his face is sliding off and, like, you see the mob boss, like, disfigure him. You like, you see that happen. Put the knife in his mouth and, like, he's not a fan, honestly. All of that stuff. So when the movie started, I'm like, I don't know if I'm in the mood for this,
Starting point is 00:51:56 honestly. I don't want to see Aaron Paul. Yeah, yuck. Yucky. I also think the effects at time they're very good. Sometimes they're nothing. It's a mixed bag. There's a morph in front of the mirror.
Starting point is 00:52:09 That's instant. Which is so instant it looks. And that's sort of, and again, the problem with that is that this, he's supposed to be Clayface. Like it's supposed to be. Because sometimes it is like a, he'll wipe his face and it will. Yeah, there's some that are very good. There's one in the trailer, I think, where you smudges his face in the bar. You see him wake up and he's clearly, he's, he's clearly.
Starting point is 00:52:30 his subconscious has melted his face into nothing and he wipes his face and it comes back to normal. That's impressive. But again, there's moments where it should be, and I guess they wanted to do it for timing purposes. There's a scene where he's having a conversation, you know, as you mentioned, he's having a conversation with himself in the mirror
Starting point is 00:52:45 as various different people, mostly Rob Bryden. Yeah. And it's just like that and it should have been. They probably should have done it like the Willem Defoe Green Goblin where you cut back and forth between the two and then you don't see the effect. You can cut back and forth and you could do a kind of clayy sound effect. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:59 Or something. Blin. Blah. Blah. Blah. Play. You can do a sound effect like a, like a, like an eel going down a drain, for example.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Yeah, you could record that yourself. Was that part of this episode? That's part of this episode. Okay. Right. Yeah. But there's also some great prosthetics that they actually put on him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:15 The bit on the plane, people might have seen in the clip where he's like seal over. Yeah. He's quite good. There's, and you know, he's. I would have just kept, I would have just kept my sunglasses on a whole trip. Absolutely. Do with that later, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:26 I think Naomiaki is good. Yeah. As a scientist. What was we see her in last? Mickey 17? Yeah, that and the one where she goes to billionaire island. Billionaire Island. Remember that one? It was called Don't go to billionaire island.
Starting point is 00:53:38 Don't go there, man. Don't go there, man. It was called Crook stuff a hooy. There's also Max Mingheller who is a GCPD cop. And you do get a sense of like, oh, everybody in Gothen is corrupt. Yeah, he's the one good cop in Gotham, which I say don't go to Gotham. Apparently. His father was Anthony Minghella.
Starting point is 00:53:59 Who's that? It's freaking the director Talon Mr. Ripley. Oh! Yeah. Wait, which one? The 1990.
Starting point is 00:54:07 The one we read is beautiful. Isn't that coming back again? They're doing another one in Olden Iron Reich is... Are they? They just did the TV show.
Starting point is 00:54:14 I remember, man. All right. All right, mate. They just did something... They're doing Baywatch again. Yeah. Did you know that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Yeah, I saw the trailer. And I was... It's also a legacy sequel. It's a legacy sequel to the TV show because they attempted to do the kind of 21 Jump Street self-aware comedy route. But there's no jokes in it.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Alexander Didario and et cetera and Zach Ephron, but it didn't work. So they're like, let's do the earnest one again. Yeah. So that's, you know. Make it happen. Make it happen. What we're talking about? The movie Clayface.
Starting point is 00:54:45 Oh yeah. Okay. Wow. Yeah. I think there's a nightclub sequence. Some say this podcast is unfocused, but I say it's shape shifting. Agreed. Ever-changing.
Starting point is 00:54:54 There's, so it's a revenge spot because there's also he realized that everybody around him is not everybody, but there's some. people around him that he needs to revenge on. Yes. And I think that element of it works. I think also there is a moment where he goes into the nightclub to find a mob boss. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:08 And he's in the crowd and he's shape changing. And that's a really great sequence. You know what I liked about it is that he was like really chaotic. What I liked and I think there maybe should have been more of this. Because it was really sort of dedicated. It's mostly just the last third maybe. What I enjoyed about it is he gets very good at his powers. very quickly.
Starting point is 00:55:30 Yeah. And there's no... They don't surf Dracula. Except for the look. Yeah, yeah. They don't go like... There's no bits where he's like, he wants to go and get a revenge and he's like, oh, my powers aren't working or
Starting point is 00:55:39 whatever. Like, at a certain point, it just tips over the edge and he gets mad enough that he could just do it. I can just do it. Yeah, exactly, which I enjoyed. And beyond that point, I think there should have just been more. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:55:49 He should have done a truck flip, I think. With a big fist. A big fist. Exactly. Yeah. There's a moment where you see, but he's a woman in a leather dress and then it cuts away and it cuts back and it's just the actor, Matt Hagan, and he's in the same dress.
Starting point is 00:56:02 Yeah. It's like, it gives it a little, yeah. What's the character? The actor's name is Tom Reese Harris. Oh, yeah, yeah. He's great. I think so, too, yeah. I don't know what they're going to do with him in this universe after this.
Starting point is 00:56:14 Yeah. I hope it's truck flips. That would be all I want. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to say it's the best movie ever. I'd heard, I read some reviews before, or not, no, I should say. I saw some headlines, which are like, this isn't very good or pretty mixed bag or
Starting point is 00:56:28 whatever, but I think there's more good here than not. I think there is too, also, yeah. I also think that, we'll talk about... Best movie ever for me also. Best movie ever, yeah, more on spoilers, but I think they're going to... Next is just going to be Batman's Superman and Wonder Woman and whatever. Like, I think, then we're not going to maybe see as much of this going forward. I think what this gods and monsters slate has probably proven is... Where's Batman?
Starting point is 00:56:50 Where's Batman? When's Batman going to take Cyclops's visor? And then he can do Cyclops as laser blast. That's a good question. It is, isn't it? You know. That's an excerpt from this podcast from three weeks ago. That's right.
Starting point is 00:57:01 Yeah. Oh, no. Cyclopsies got a lightsaber now. Where do you get it? I don't know. Doesn't matter. Oh, it turns out. The Star Wars comic, the Star Wars comic.
Starting point is 00:57:09 The Star Wars Marvel crossover. You are shaking your head. You've got your eyes closed. But so it's not out yet, I don't think. January. They've released some preview pages. And the reveal is that the Marvel characters have all seen Star Wars. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:25 So they are all Kevin Smith. They're all Kevin Smith. and so they have seen so that they're so Iron Man comes aboard the Tantive 4 and he goes Oh wow
Starting point is 00:57:34 Classic Tanty 4 Are these the droids you're looking for Or whatever Wow so you're not a fan of this No I haven't read it No it's not yet And my son will love it Yeah
Starting point is 00:57:43 But honestly I'm like I don't think this is the direction And it could be great Yeah I don't think of the direction You got it You don't have to do anything No
Starting point is 00:57:50 But surely it's like Nobody knows what Star Wars is right Nope that's wrong Everybody knows knows what's up. I mean, if anything, this is probably the, the, the move that makes the most sense is that, well, yeah, everybody, this makes sense. No, none of it makes sense. The idea that everybody has seen Star Wars, even in the Marvel universe, that does make sense. Yeah. It's like the bit in Civil War when Tom Holland explodes, but before he explodes, he's like, have you seen
Starting point is 00:58:16 that old movie? Yeah, of course he has. Yeah. Um, yeah. I mean, if it were possible, they would have said that they both were aware. Like if they were, if they were, yeah, I know, but if there were Marvel comics in the Star Wars universe, they would be like, oh my God, you're right, man. This goes, he's got the America. You know? I'm sure to be wonderful. And again, it's for kids and whatever. And haters.
Starting point is 00:58:39 It's for kids and haters. Anyway, spoilers for the movie Clayface. Yes. What did you think of his final clay form? Fine. I agree. Yeah. I, when did you say, do you mean the, you mean right at the end?
Starting point is 00:58:52 Or even before that, we see just before Naomi Aki zaps all the naps all the next. technology out of him. He does the big mouth and the whatever. That was good. I mean, right at the end when he's sort of hallucinating the cheese come back to him and et cetera, there's too much of his face in it.
Starting point is 00:59:09 Yeah, okay, I can see that. And I understand that you've got to have the recognizable actor in it, whatever, but he should have been more. I want the Batman, the animated series one. It's just the giant juggernaughts. I mean, they can do that. Yeah, of course they can, yeah. I don't.
Starting point is 00:59:22 Yeah. I also think in a worse movie. And also from this point forward, they can probably just get him into a voice actor. Absolutely. If they put him in Van of Tomorrow or whatever or Justice League or Batman or something, they'll just have a voice acted. But if also, I think if this was a worst movie and at the end they'll like,
Starting point is 00:59:37 this is his clay form, this would have upset me. Yeah, right. But by then I'm like, I didn't even feel like I needed to see it because I had, there was enough in this movie that I enjoyed. I think it was the nightclub sequence that tipped me over. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, oh, no, I like this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:50 This is good. What I enjoyed is that he just killed everybody. Yep. Spoilers for this. He kills the cook. He kills the cop just because he loves. That was quite good. And he's fallen in love with the woman
Starting point is 01:00:01 over the scientist over the course of the movie. And he's just like, well, he didn't, you know, be like, you get out of here. He didn't use his morphing powers to be like, um, your girlfriend and I'm breaking up with you. So you better leave Gotham. And he left. He's just like, no, snap this guy's neck or whatever,
Starting point is 01:00:16 or suffocate him, whatever I did. I'm a clay man. I'm a clay man now. Yeah, he kills his best friend. I like he killed the mob boss's girlfriend. Because often, again, oftentimes if he were being portrayed as more of anti-hero, I'd be like, never do that again. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:29 Well, she was a bad person. Yeah. Maybe not bad enough to be suffocated with clay, but also probably, probably, I don't know. Did you like the death of him dripping his blood into the mob boss's face and then pulling the blood back and it tore his face off? It was okay, but I... It looked good as an effect. Yeah, it looked pretty good. I don't need that much.
Starting point is 01:00:48 I don't need to know that particular mechanic of how Clayface works. Okay, yeah. Like I ended, like when we foreshadowed it in the lab earlier in the... in the movie. I'm like, this is, this is going to come back, but I don't need that.
Starting point is 01:01:00 I don't need, there needs to be some sort of magnetic attraction of the clay to his body or whatever it is. I just need him to be a big clay man. Sure. I think he should have just shot a big clay
Starting point is 01:01:10 fingertip up his, the guy's nose and out his ears. 2,000 style, but clay. But clay, 1,000. Clayfighter. Clay fighter.
Starting point is 01:01:18 Clay fighter, exactly. Yeah, because this, this was heavily influenced by that episode of Batman, the animator series. The episode Darkman. The episode, Batman the animated series
Starting point is 01:01:27 Season 2 Just the movie Dark Man. Just a clip from the movie Dark Man. Yeah. Just the carnival stuff. Yeah. But so, and there's a moment where he gets tased. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:36 And if I remember that episode, he's not actually affected by electricity. He pretends. Yeah, right. And to die. And then Batman checks it later. He's like, oh, fuck, he didn't,
Starting point is 01:01:46 he pretended to die. Yeah, right, right. Yeah. But I guess this does. And also, maybe this is potentially, again, if we see this character again, maybe this is the last time that works on.
Starting point is 01:01:55 him. Yeah. Because what happens, of course, the end of this is the scientist has a kill switch. It was affecting his nanites, wasn't it? Yeah. So the kill switch has, the scientist has this kill switch that affects the nanites and she hits the terminate button and he goes down the drain like an eel going down to drain. But then, of course, he comes back. That's relatable. Presumably, what we're going with here is the nanites have died, but he is still got clay cells or something. Yeah. We're in science fantasy. is he territory now it doesn't it doesn't matter absolutely he just got clay powers he's a clay man yeah yeah yeah uh he should have made a big hammer like well he did he made their club but we
Starting point is 01:02:33 didn't really see it yeah you want to see more stuff i get it well maybe we will in clay face too now batman's here yeah yeah that's right because he wasn't in the last one we didn't even mention it we didn't even go there's a guy running around gothlin what's he'd do it i did i did wonder at numerous points where is batman here do you reckon this is ten years before creature commandos because in creature commandos they're like fuck that's clay face yeah like He's on record. They know who he is. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:58 So 10 years maybe? At least a few. Yeah. I reckon just a few appearances you'd be like. That's that big clay guy. He's done a lot of truck flips. If you did like a half a dozen high, you know, high profile truck flips. High profile viral truck flips.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Yeah. Hell yeah. For virality. Yes. Yeah. But no, again, as I said, I think it's going to be, you know, it's going to be a big year for Wonder Woman next year. There's rumors or like the thought is that she's going to appear in. man of tomorrow along with a Batman cameo or Bruce Wayne cameo at some point.
Starting point is 01:03:29 That's right. We'll see where that goes. But yeah, I think probably the head of Warner Brothers. And I don't know because it's just recently changed. It's probably going to be like, just give us the stuff that people know and like and what I say, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:43 But I think I love that they put, you know, 40 odd million dollars into this. Yeah. This does not need to be a $150 million movie. Yeah. I think it's a smart play in terms of making. something like this. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:56 Yeah. I was sort of going in here, expecting that we would have to have a conversation about why this movie tanked. But it hasn't, I guess. Well, it might drop off. Yeah, might drop off. I think it'll at the very least comfortably break even.
Starting point is 01:04:07 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But we'll see. Yeah. Great. Should we move in the next segment of the show? Let's move on the next segment of the show. But what is it? It's what we're reading.
Starting point is 01:04:14 Yep. What we're going to read. Okay. I'm doing a thing. I'm doing a thing. And action? What are you reading? What are you reading?
Starting point is 01:04:28 I was reading and watching this week. Pinball. Oh yeah, you sent me an email. A pinball machine. A friend of the show, Michael Williams, invited a bunch of people, and we went to the outer suburbs of Melbourne. Just to be clear, he didn't invite me.
Starting point is 01:04:43 He didn't invite you. Why didn't invite me? We invited you another thing a while back and it didn't work out well for you. But why didn't invite me this time? Is it because I was also camping last weekend? That was almost certainly why. And a spider got in my sleeping bag and bit me like nine times.
Starting point is 01:04:57 Really? on the bum. I know. None of them on my bum. I've still got bites. On your bum? No, none of those bites are spider bites. Okay, right then.
Starting point is 01:05:06 Okay. All right, good to know. But look, this is a free plug, but I had a great time. We went to a place in Campbellfield, which is at the end of the upfield line, James. Yuck. It's called Man Cave Madness. Yuck. And here's the thing.
Starting point is 01:05:19 So what happens is you go in there and it's a bike shop. Like, they sell bikes. And then they go, you're here for the pinball because we look like. people who were there for them off. Of course they knew. None of you have even been on a bike in your entire life. Exactly, that's right. Anyway, you go in there and then there's two or three rooms that look like 1950s diners, but you can't order any food there. But it's just... What's the rooms for? Nostalgers. Yeah, probably for nostalgia's and neon signs and like gas pumps. Okay, so this is what they sell on their website. Neon signs, stools, metal signs, diner booth,
Starting point is 01:05:53 statues. Here's a picture of me with the Blues Brothers. That's not the real Blues brothers, you idiot. That's a statue of the Blue. brothers. That might not even be you. That might be a statue of you. That is a statue. Statues, collectibles, petrol bouses. Why? I don't know. Furniture. BMXs. C-11 more. Yes, please. Memorability, pinball machines, retro bars, LED signs. A lot of sign stuff I'm noticing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tables and chairs or just tables and just chairs. Clocks, decor, arcade games, jukeboxes. You know why, James? Because it's called Mancabandness. It is. It is. That's gone, man. Anyway, but then you go in the back room and there's like 50 pinball
Starting point is 01:06:27 machines. And I ain't grand time. I haven't played pinballing. Only pinball, because I saw a Daytona machine. It was also a Daytona machine. Was it 50 pinball machines and one Daytona machine? 50 pinball machines and then like a couple of Daytona adjacent things. How much of this was free or to play or did you have to put in coins? Well, you pay on the way in. Yeah. And then you get free play for like three hours or so. Oh my God. That's like time zone in the 90s. Yeah. Yeah. It was a real lock in session. But how many times are you doing pinball? Yeah. And then you're like, oh, try different pinball. This is also pinball. No, they're very different. That's interesting. That's interesting.
Starting point is 01:06:57 Because they had some old like 70s pinball. And I get like that that's the sort of thing you would play like at a pizza place where you're waiting for them to make your pizza. It's like very slow and very kind of meditative even. You ping the pinball and it just sort of slowly floats around. It comes back to you and you ping it again and then it's like slowly going. But then there's a whole bunch of like there was like you know the Terminator 2 machine. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:23 But also like it's just it's still just pinball. No. with some Terminator shit slapped on it. The new ones are crazy. There was two Star Wars machines. Yeah. And you could go on missions and there was like... What, how?
Starting point is 01:07:35 I don't know, man. I didn't understand what was going on. Sounds like you couldn't go on missions. It was just confusing. There was a James Bond pinball machine. Yeah, but what is that in tail? James Bond's on a jet pack and he's there and he's in the machine. He doesn't do anything, right?
Starting point is 01:07:50 Nobody moves around. Which James Bond is he? It's Connery. Yeah. Because he's the one of the jet pack. And he picks up the ball and then he drops the ball over here. and into a rocket? It's crazy in there.
Starting point is 01:08:00 Again, it's still just pinball. I know, but you would be like, you would be surprised how quickly I became a pinball expert. And I'm like, well, I like these ones. And this one really keeps the ball in this zone over here. And that's good. This one's got too much empty space, but this one's got a good use of the space
Starting point is 01:08:14 and extra missions. Yeah. Let's get a pinball machine, James. I don't want a pinball machine. You can get a pinball machine. Do you don't even want Star Wars fall of the empire, which was probably the best pinball machine there? Let me check it.
Starting point is 01:08:25 Let me look at this. You're going to love it. mate. When's this one from? Watch a YouTube video, I think it's quite new. Okay. No, I want a big arcade tie-fighter cabinet. I'll tell you this.
Starting point is 01:08:33 There was an Avengers machine. Not good. Yeah, not surprised. This is $9,000 for a machine that hits a fucking ball around in a glass case. Wow. This looks fucking insane, by the way. I'm looking at the outlay of this. It doesn't even make any sense.
Starting point is 01:08:47 It makes sense once you play it. It's just neon. I'll tell you this, James, if I was trapped. They just putting toys in it as well, right? There's just like micromachines, Millennium Falcons in this. These aren't custom. As someone who doesn't like Star Wars and didn't like pinball until like a week ago, I had a lot of fun. All right.
Starting point is 01:09:03 Well, tell Michael Williams I will go with him, but he's next lot of good. Okay, true. And I'll say this as well. Like, uh... Did you play Daytona? No. What the fuck? I'm not interested in Daytona.
Starting point is 01:09:11 I played enough Daytona. Pinball. If I was trapped in this room for like a week, I would get really good at pinball. It's one of that unearned confidence. That would come in handy. I would become the best in pinball if I was trapped in the whole week. And it would come in handy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:23 Also, uh, the pinball. Tapping muscles, you don't use them. Because for like three days, I'm like, oh my God, my arms hurt so bad. Is it like a wrist? Yeah, forearm wrist kind of thing. No, man, I'm doing four-arm exercises. I don't know with that. Yeah, we know you are, mate, we know you are.
Starting point is 01:09:37 Mason. Mate, we know you are. Mason, I'm doing that. Mate, we know you are. Mason, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about wanking. We did it, folks. And cut.
Starting point is 01:09:47 And print that. Yep, print that. Print that. Print it. Print, we did it. Well, speaking of Star Wars. I played a good Star Wars thing. Okay, go on.
Starting point is 01:09:55 I played. Star Wars pinball. I played Star Wars Galactic Racer. Oh, yes. Which is the newest Star Wars game. It's like a spiritual sequel to pod racing. Oh, there's pod racing and I'm not up to it yet. Now that's pod racing.
Starting point is 01:10:06 But it's basically a rogue-like... Oh, it's a rogue-liketer. Yeah, you've got a... You know, you've got a character that you vaguely customised. Shaz-Blasmatron. Yeah, that's right. Okay. You got it.
Starting point is 01:10:20 Yeah. And you start with just a regular speeder. Yep. But then you can change. I'm currently got... a speeder bike, which I prefer. It's got a bit more zip to it. I prefer the team.
Starting point is 01:10:29 Can you have Luke Skywarkers classic Brown speeder? Probably at some point. With panels missing on and stuff? I think that's just like a Ford, like a Ford. Yeah, like a Ford X escort or something. Yeah, whatever. And you build your way up in the tournament and whatever and you've made other races and when to compete or whatever.
Starting point is 01:10:44 But also when you start in a tournament and you get as far as you can and then you lose and then you go back to the start. And you do it. And so I've got up to Subalba. I've only just got it once because these are the, very end and you meet him. Yeah. And he thoroughly thrashed me.
Starting point is 01:10:59 Like, it was severe. Because he's been defeated by a small boy. Yeah, but he was magic. I'm not magic. And I never even played this game before. The boy had practiced. Okay. And so you, and then it goes on to a different thing after that.
Starting point is 01:11:11 Would you say he's your nemesis? No, I'm indifferent to him. He's a guy. Do you develop a nemesis? Yeah, there is a nemesis. Interesting. Yeah. But I love the reaction time to it.
Starting point is 01:11:20 Oh, it's my old friend Shaz Blasmatron. You think you got the feed me, Sibulba? No. Wait. No, no, no, no, no. What's this? What does Sibbolba sound like?
Starting point is 01:11:34 He speaks a different language. Oh, I guess I was like, nah, that's moron. Well, what if he spoke English? How would he sound? Like, you did it. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:11:41 I was confusing Wotto and Sibolva. Just say I said Wato. No. Okay. Hey, you want to buy some spitapats from me? Shaz Blasmatron? I get a good deal for you. Mason, you're also doing.
Starting point is 01:11:55 a stereotype. And I don't want to say who, but it just feels like you're doing a stereotype too. You know what I mean? I'm doing water. That's exactly what he sounds like. I don't know, man. Does he not sound like that? He does, but I don't know, man. I don't agree. All right. You can do the Nemoids. What is that? They're the Asian guys who are not the trade generation. I'm not going to do them. But who did do them? Who did the original voice for them? I don't think it was real Asian guys, but I don't know that. a fact. They're not
Starting point is 01:12:27 relation guys either. I don't think so, man. It's a lot of fun. It's just, it's fun and it's fast. The expensive speed and crashing is good. It seems also fair
Starting point is 01:12:37 as well. Like you lose and you're like, yeah, I didn't deserve to win that one. Is there any, what are they called the rubber banding? Not really.
Starting point is 01:12:43 Okay. Is there any blue shell equivalent? No, there's not, I'm not at a weapons point yet, but you can't smash people into walls and they're like, I hated that.
Starting point is 01:12:50 Can you simply pull a gun at any point? No, you can't. Not yet. Not road rash style. None. You know, you upgrade your pot and whatever, whatever. It's not a pod.
Starting point is 01:12:57 But, you know, and then there's pod racing later. Yeah, okay, very good. Because it's the fastest pod in the universe. Yes, very good. But I love that Star Wars games is like now trying out stuff. They're saying that they don't want to just do AAA stuff. Because they're doing double A. Yeah, so like Galact Zero Company came out recently, which is, you know, a game that's very specific and turn-based whatever.
Starting point is 01:13:17 Right, right. And it's like, well, this is, they don't all need to be. That's true. I mean, they are doing like a Jedi 3. What is the Jedi Survivor 3? great. And apparently they are doing a Battlefront 3 that's in the works. But this is how it used to be, where there was like a bunch
Starting point is 01:13:31 of different weird Star Wars games every year. And there's so much money to be made here. And it's amazing they haven't been doing this already for years. Would they consider a Tetris-like game called Wattow's Garage? Oh, okay. Like a Dr. Wario style. What would that sound like? I don't know what it would sound like. If only I could imagine such a thing.
Starting point is 01:13:51 But I guess I can't. It's not allowed to. It's not allowed anymore, I guess. That's great That's what we've been doing I recommend it I picked it up pretty cheaply as well Which was good Because I was like
Starting point is 01:14:04 I don't want to pay 190 dollars for this Or whatever things are Well I'd recommend playing pinball That's great man That's great Let's go To the letters segment
Starting point is 01:14:15 Oh stage right The classic one was Letters Oh letters We love you Some letters Cue the music You're queuing it now
Starting point is 01:14:24 That's what they would say At the movies. What movie? We're going to hear right now. We're going to invite us. What movie? I don't know. Lala land?
Starting point is 01:14:31 No, I just remembered that we started this on like a vague movie. We. Directing thing. Yeah, we, both of us. We. A team. If you do want to reach the show, you can go into the Planet Broadcasting, Great Mates Facebook crew.
Starting point is 01:14:41 Correct. There's a latest theme, thread. And there's also a weekly planner pod at gmail.com email. So true, isn't it? Do you want to do the chest of cheeks one? Or do you want to do a different one that you go? No, I've got to look, this is from, I believe, a previous week. There's a couple of email.
Starting point is 01:14:54 Matt has emailed in to say, yes, I do have a problem with that, but I don't have the guts to say it to his face. I knew it. Whatever that is, I knew it. And then Austin says, I got a problem with that. Yes, I'd say it behind his back for so long that word would eventually get to him,
Starting point is 01:15:08 and I'd have no choice but to say it to his face. He'd be sad, and I'd feel bad because bullying is more fun on the internet when you can't see people, then would become good friends. Oh, okay. So that's cool. That's nice.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Absolutely. For whatever that was. I think that's so true. Here's an email from Shane, who says, boring plot with great characters or great plot with boring characters Howdy, Ladd's Shane here I've been fascinated by storytelling my whole life
Starting point is 01:15:32 and I've been thinking lately about how pretty much all stories rely on the interaction between plot and characters. Yes. Pretty groundbreaking, but I care a lot more about characters than I do plot. I'd be much more forgiving of a boring or overly contrived plot if it's compelling and like all the characters. Where do you guys fall in the spectrum of plot or characters? For sure, characters.
Starting point is 01:15:49 It is characters just and then this happened and this happened and this happened. If I don't care, then... Yeah. I think the, you know, a lot of these Apple movies, Amazon Prime movies, whatever they are, where it's like, we've got to go on an adventure and get the fountain of youth or the Holy Grail or whatever. And where our siblings are, it's the girlfriend and boyfriend. Okay, well, what's the, what's the point of any, like, why do you need to? What's the, I don't care why.
Starting point is 01:16:11 And it's like you've just. Sounds like you're talking to bloody mirror. Ah, mate. Like a lot of, you know, people have said a lot of these movies are like if you would, you vaguely remembered why. watching an Indiana Jones movie and you tried to rewrite it. It's like, there's reasons behind everything. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:28 Well, yeah, that's... It's true. It's true. Those movies had Harrison Ford. Yeah, I'm not interested in just some cardboard cutouts just doing a... I mean, interesting characters... Whoa, we're falling of waterfall.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Interesting characters do a lot of heavy lifting and like, like, I know, reservoir dogs. It's a... And in reservoir the suburbs. Sure. It's a post-heist movie where they're all in a warehouse. Yeah. But it's all...
Starting point is 01:16:48 They've all got stuff to say and do and sing and dance. So true, isn't it? Don't they? Yeah. They cut off each other's ears and whatever. Oh my God. And Tim Roth's like, oh, fuck. Tim Roth's a real song and dance man.
Starting point is 01:16:59 That's why he thought he was getting into this. Did he? To do a big, put on a big show. No, man, you got shot. He did get shot, didn't he? He put on a big show in the back of that car. Yeah. We'd probably sure you saw you get shot in the Reservoir Dogs video game that they made on PlayStation 2.
Starting point is 01:17:12 Yeah. This one is good. All right. Timothy says, what's more important? DC Nailing Man of Tomorrow, which is the next Superman. DCU move. Yes.
Starting point is 01:17:24 Or the MCU nailing Doomsday. DC. Because it's the start of something. Correct. And the MCU still is going to chug along regardless. I think it's going to chug along regardless and they'll do a soft reboot at some point. But like, I would love to see them both continue along as successful universes simultaneously
Starting point is 01:17:42 as opposed to the DCU constantly just dying on the vine over and over again. Yeah, it's cool that it's been doing that. Yeah, for a long time. And it still, man of tomorrow might still be good. die the whole thing that's true yeah regardless
Starting point is 01:17:55 I would love to see DC overtake Marvel in terms of just a just a quality just on a vibrant universe that we know is going to be good every time yeah okay
Starting point is 01:18:05 so okay yeah I agree I think Doomsday will do well regardless of so I think it'll crack a bill that being said like ultimately I feel like in the modern era
Starting point is 01:18:14 Marvel has said better movies but DC has a better comic book slate and has had that for several years so yeah you can't win them all I guess. Can't win anymore, but movies where money is. Movies where money is. Yeah, what's another letter?
Starting point is 01:18:28 Is it about Chester Cheeks? What do you... Somebody emailed in and said, what do you think of Chester Cheeks? And we had to look it up, but it's some sort of viral toy of a big butt. And you said my daughter would like that is what you said. She's loving bums and farts at the moment.
Starting point is 01:18:40 It's the funniest thing in the world. That's good. And she's not wrong. I'm not going to get her the butt toy though. No. I saw somebody getting their hands right in it. You're right in there. I didn't like that.
Starting point is 01:18:50 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't like it. Anyway, go on, Chester Chips. Nope. This is an email from Tully who says, I've just come out of a cheap Tuesday D-box screening of whale fail. Oh, we haven't seen whale fail. No. Apparently, Bond.
Starting point is 01:19:02 Yeah. I promised everything the trailer promised and nothing more. I felt genuinely claustrophobic in points and I just wanted Ostromabens to die so it could be done with it. At the end of the day, if you're walking to a movie where the trailer has a dude and a squid getting swallowed by a sperm whale
Starting point is 01:19:14 and you expect anything more, you're stupid. My question for you both is, what is your favourite stuck inside of a blank movie? Mine was the dissent, but this has since taken its place. Oh, the dissent's very good. I like phone booth. Phone booths good.
Starting point is 01:19:25 He was stuck in that phone booth. Did you see the one where Anthony Hopkins traps a man in a car? Anthony Hopkins locked you in his car. Yeah, Anthony Locks up. Put the child locks up. Thank you. No, I didn't see that. Did you see that?
Starting point is 01:19:36 Did you see the movie Cube where they were stuck in the Cube? Yeah, we just talked about Cube. Did you see the movie in the maze runner where they were stuck in the maze running? They weren't really stuck. They had plenty of room to move. Yeah, but that was still on the hole that was stuck in there, weren't there? I guess so. But you could say that.
Starting point is 01:19:48 you'd be like, we're all stuck on Earth, aren't we? Yeah, we're a stoke in Earth. We can't just leave Earth. Not allowed to. There's a lot of space. Yeah, there's a lot of stuff to look around that. I like the movie Buried. Yeah, that was good.
Starting point is 01:19:58 That's a good one, yeah. Yeah. God, these are good movies where people are stuck in things. God, stuck in stuff. Stuck in stuff. Let me have a look. Movies where stuck in stuff. Movies where stuck in stuff.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Have a quick look. One location movies. H.R. Stuck in Stuff. Well, buried. Cube, both of which we have mentioned. Correct, yes. 10 Cloverfield Lane? Too big? No, that's good.
Starting point is 01:20:22 What about this sore? Stuck in a room. Stuck in a room. What are 12 angry men? They're not stuck in a room. They could leave any time they want. Stuck in the middle of room. What about the hateful late?
Starting point is 01:20:31 I don't like it. Don't like that movie. What about panic room? Don't like it. What about back rooms? Oh, they're not really stuck though. But they're kind of are. Sometimes they're stuck.
Starting point is 01:20:43 Does this count? Yes. James Franco pinned under a rock. Right. I'll never know what he. was like. I don't think it does count. It's where they AI generated him for that daily wire movie.
Starting point is 01:20:52 He could just easily cut his arm off. That's the thing. So he's not really stuck technically. Good point. What about Tom Hanks on an island? Does that count? No, I think we're thinking more enclosed. Brie Larson's room is very good.
Starting point is 01:21:04 Yes. Misery. Stuck in a bed. That's one of the best. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What about gravity? Stuck in space. Too much, too much room.
Starting point is 01:21:11 What about this? The Martian. Too much room. Too much room. It seems like if you can go out, side you're like nah man no yeah yeah exactly nah man won't do it okay interesting those are the movies where people are stuck in a bird yeah buried yeah it's good i'm not i'm gonna pick another one mason i got a letter here it says from christin who says what movie that didn't get a game adaptation definitely should have got one okay
Starting point is 01:21:33 i got a couple here go on i'm ready one is more good mc u games i think they missed a trick on that by giving them all to saga and they're all terrible the fact that there isn't a an iron man game at the very least i mean there is one of the work but one that people remember and go like oh my God, like the X-Men Origins Wolverine game. Exactly. The Captain America game's not bad. There should be an Iron Man game on par with like the Arkham games. Completely agree.
Starting point is 01:21:57 They're currently working on one. But there was also one, there was an adaptation of the Dark Knight, which got cancelled. And Pandemic were doing it, who did the Battlefront games, the original ones. Mercenaries, which was an awesome game. If ever played that, the Saboteur was their last one. Oh. They got a long way into that. It was developed in Brisbane.
Starting point is 01:22:13 They ended up shutting down the production company. Because they were too successful? Yeah. But it was the first open world Batman game, and it was, Gary Oldman was flying out to Brisbane to look at it and whatever. It was a whole. What do you think of this, Gary Oldman? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:22:27 I don't know. I didn't bring my glasses. Okay, well, goodbye, but Gary Oldman. They did do what Batman begins. Thanks for addressing as your character from the fifth element, by the way, Gary Oldman. I had no problem. I was wearing it anyway.
Starting point is 01:22:38 There's also a Dark Night Rises like Open World Mobile game. There's no the Dark Knight one, which I think could have been. This is pre-Arcum's asylum. So it could have been good. I mean, back in the day, everything would have been turned into a game. Like, there's this era of like... But they were mostly bad. Everything would have been a side-scrolling shooter or some extraction.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Yeah, that would have been... It's amazing there isn't a John Wick third-person action game yet. Yeah, it's amazing there isn't a John Wick game that is based on that very video game sequence in the fourth one. Yeah, absolutely. The Dragon's Breaths. I look and above. Yeah, yeah. There was a John Wick pinball game.
Starting point is 01:23:13 Bad. Come on, man. What you're saying is bad. It actually wasn't that regret. I know. I know because it's pinball. Oh, come on, man. Banging a ball around a fucking glass booth.
Starting point is 01:23:23 Yeah. Stupid for idiots. Come on. Wow. Stupid crap stuff for simple-minded people. Why do you love Daytona so much, but you hate pinball so much? Because you can drive a car. It's not real, though.
Starting point is 01:23:33 It's pretend. It is pretend. That's true. I like the, I like though video games now. It's like James Bond is an example of this. Even the new Indiana Jones. They're not locked into telling a story. They can do their own version of something.
Starting point is 01:23:49 And you can tell a story that doesn't even have to be in the world, but it can be if it's Indiana Jones. And it's its own thing. And it doesn't have to coincide with the release of a movie, so you'd have to rush it out. That's true. I love that. Well, I mean, ultimately, that's what killed a lot of these.
Starting point is 01:24:01 And that's why Wolverine's good or bad. Yeah. It's what killed a lot of these, the concept of the tie-in, because it's like, we can't give them the plot of the movie to turn into a game because they'll spoil it or it'll get leaked somehow. Exactly. Also, Michael Clayton, Point and Click Game. Michael Clayton Pinball Machine.
Starting point is 01:24:16 What do you think? Yes. Objection. He's not a lawyer. Objection. Because these games are whatever, so it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all. You put whatever in there.
Starting point is 01:24:25 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You put an Ocean's 11 DVD in the Michael Clayton Bitton machine. It's time to confront Tilda Swinton in the hallway, mini game. Clickety-clack. Clickety-clack. I'm the guy you said when you want to fix it.
Starting point is 01:24:38 Blah, blah, blah. Objection. Moving parts. I feel like they'd fuck up a lot as well. Of course, yeah. No good. Yeah. I'd be constantly.
Starting point is 01:24:45 Well, I think some of them definitely. are showing their age in terms of how bad they are yeah how bad they are how much was it 40 bucks for for three hours yeah that's too long i can i don't even know okay i could play daytoner for three hours yeah well all right yeah i'd play star wars galactic racer a game i enjoy and just you bring your laptop in or whatever you bring your playstation i'd plug it into a terrific to the screen above the pinball machine or whatever that's welded into the unit cool stupid old crap for idiots what were you saying you got another letter. He's an email from Harry. The other day I found myself using the speech.
Starting point is 01:25:21 Rocky says to Milo Ventimilia from Rocky Balbo to my own son about winning and losing. He's sick, so I had to change a few bits. It seemed to work and cheered him up. Plus, my wife has never seen it and thought I did a great job. I wondered if you guys have ever used a famous film quote or speech for an inspirational moment in your lives. No, but I like to tell people a story of what happened to be on the weekend, but it turns out it's just obviously something that happened in movie
Starting point is 01:25:48 and see how long it takes him to catch on. That's always good. And you're doing that Wotto voice. Yeah, I do it with the water voice. And then I saw the path to Anakin Skywalker. And it is, the long-eared guy steal the kid from me. And then I saw the Tilda Swinton in the hallway
Starting point is 01:26:05 and came out to Dillers with and I said, hey, I'm right at the end of Michael Clayne here. I said, I'm the guy, you said, and they're like, is this Michael Clayton? I'm like, it is, yeah. And you're what? Yes, I am. Yes, I was dressed as Wano.
Starting point is 01:26:19 And nobody else. And nobody else. There's an alien of whatever ethnicity. I'm assuming why. He's a Troidarian, Mason. Is he? You idiot? Okay.
Starting point is 01:26:28 Yeah. That's the kind of information you can't get from a pinball machine. I might be. But you could from a band-in-medice video game. I bet it's in the pinball. I bet it's in there somewhere. Great. I don't know if I have done.
Starting point is 01:26:39 I probably have. Yeah. Sometimes the way kids will be like, oh, I remember this thing and whatever, and that's a good message for whatever. and just get out there or whatever. And they're like, so I should confront Tilda Swinton in that hallway? In the hallway, for sure, man.
Starting point is 01:26:51 You should. Run up on her. Off on her, yeah, that's right. Big time. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do your best Wotto in presentation, but make sure you're very clear that this is Wotto. It's Wotto. And not another thing. What you're doing there is Wotto, and I think that's important.
Starting point is 01:27:03 Well, I got one here from R, that's a very funny. What's this from Arles who says, James, what's school like from the perspective of being a parent as opposed to being a teacher? Well, there's a lot of me sitting here and being like, this is some bullshit. When they're like, we love school,
Starting point is 01:27:17 spirit and values and blah, blah, which is all true, but I'm like, I know you guys are getting fucked up on the weekends. And they're coming in and they're like, this is a curriculum
Starting point is 01:27:25 when I'm like, you don't have to do any of this. Maybe they're not on the weekends though, maybe because they're Gen Z. Well, some of them, not all of them are.
Starting point is 01:27:31 I don't even mean getting fucked up. I'm just like, these are all people. I don't buy any of this. This is all a show. Yeah, sure. I did this. This is a bloody wrought,
Starting point is 01:27:37 isn't it? This is a bloody wrought? This is not to say that they're not doing a good job because they definitely are. But my son's teacher, I know outside of school. So like we just have normal conversations. It's like we don't have to do the thing. Because the teacher, you know, because he also works as a junk dealer. Yes, that's right.
Starting point is 01:27:57 A junk dealer on the planet tattooing. You know about this? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I tried to keep it positive for the kids, but you know. It's a shame that he had to go back to teaching after that. It's in a bearded man stole his boy. He stole his best speed a pilot or whatever.
Starting point is 01:28:18 Podracer, I don't know. Wasn't that crazy? It was crazy. Yeah. You're telling me, brother. Dude, I was there. Yeah. I was watching TV at the movies.
Starting point is 01:28:26 Wow. Yeah. Anyway, it's, I don't know. I just, I don't like it. Also, what I find excruciating school assemblies. Oh, yeah. Unless my kids are like performing, you know, they'll do like a presentation of what they've been doing for the week. like you'd gunned in my head, you couldn't get me in that fucking room.
Starting point is 01:28:42 But once you're reading, you have to watch all the kids. Yeah, it's a whole thing. I'll leave. I don't give a fuck. I will stand him in front of everybody and walk through the crowd and exit. Like, I don't care. Wow. But I've said this to my side.
Starting point is 01:28:52 He's like, oh, why don't you come to assembly? And I'm like, look, I'm going to be, I will be at anything that you do. If you were presenting at assembly, I will 100% be there. But I used to do this for a job. It feels like work. It's excruciating. I don't want to do it. God bless you, I say.
Starting point is 01:29:04 That's right. Okay. Is that the show? definitely will appreciate it one day. We definitely will appreciate it one day. Once it's all over. Yeah, we'll appreciate it. We'll be like, oh, we'll get up in the gutter. Those were the days. Those were the days. Yeah. You know, not today. No, no way, man. Get out of here. Get out of here. But I'm up to an 85. Do they mean us?
Starting point is 01:29:41 I don't know. Yeah. Who's they? I don't know, but I was in Australia. Yeah, I was also in Australia. Very clearly. Yeah. I was at school.
