The news can be hard to keep up with, but sometimes I want to spend a bit more time with a story that's made headlines.
That's why I produce CBC's Understood podcast.
We've covered the rise and fall of Sam Bankman Freed, the scandals surrounding Canada's very own Pornhub, the controversial leader of India.
Our most recent series is about the bizarre alchemy that made Celine Dion the enduring star that she is.
Each season of Understood is a short, four-episode immersive experience with a host who knows
the story best.
Follow so you never miss a season.
From CBC News, it's the world this hour.

A newly released report is showing that Donald Trump would have been convicted of election
interference had he lost the November presidential election.
A report from U.S. special counsel Jack Smith was released early this morning.
It shows there was sufficient evidence to convict Trump of attempting to overturn the
2020 election results.
The report accuses Trump of using threats and encouragement of violence against his
opponents.
Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges and they were dropped following his November election
victory.
Qatari officials say a proposed Gaza ceasefire agreement is in the hands of both Israel and
Hamas, and it's now up to the two sides to determine if the deal offers enough to end more than 15 months of war.
Sasha Petrasek has the latest now from Jerusalem.
Leaked details point to a six-week ceasefire in the first phase, with 34 Israeli hostages
released, three of them on the first day.
Israeli troops would pull back to within 800 meters of the borders and almost 200
Palestinian prisoners would be released from Israeli jails.
Families of the hostages are watching impatiently.
In Gaza 2, Palestinians say they're waiting eagerly for a break in Israeli airstrikes
that have killed dozens more just in the past days.
We'd like to be hopeful but...
But humanitarian groups say don't expect miracles in terms of aid conditions.
Aman Bazaral is with Doctors Without Borders in Gaza.
And I don't see any sign that it's going to improve in the next days and weeks
even with the truth or a ceasefire.
A ceasefire that is close but still not guaranteed.

Mid speculation that he is planning to run for the Liberal leadership,
former Bank of Canada and Bank of England Governor Mark Carney
appeared last night on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
A wild hypothetical. Let's say the candidate wasn't part of the government.
Let's say the candidate did have a lot of economic experience.
Let's say the candidate did deal with crises.
Let's say the candidate had a plan to deal with the challenges in the here and now.
You sneaky.
You're running as an outsider.
I am an outsider.
Sources have told CBC News that Carney will be formally launching his campaign on Thursday.
Meanwhile, it's expected Christia Freeland will announce her bid at some point ahead
of Donald Trump's inauguration, which is set for next Monday.
Federal Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson is in Washington for a two-day visit to the U.S. Capitol.
He's abdicating for Canada in the face of Donald Trump's tariff
threats. Wilkinson is meeting with senators and House representatives with the focus on
Canadian oil, gas, and mineral exports. Now to the wildfire emergency in Los Angeles and
the weather forecast calling for the winds to pick up again. As we hear now from Steve
Futterman, it's precisely what the city doesn't want to hear.
The winds in and around Los Angeles began to pick up on Monday.
Now officials say the real challenge is about to begin.
In the next 24 hours, much stronger winds.
Severe fire weather conditions will continue through Wednesday.
Officials are trying to reassure people.
L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony Maroney.
Please be assured that all fire departments will be prepared. fire department. The fire department is responsible for the
fire department.
Please be assured people
L.A. County fire chief
Anthony Moroni.
Please be assured that
all fire departments
will be prepared.
But after last week
when fires ravaged
parts of L.A.
destroying thousands
of structures you can
understand why some
people are a bit
nervous.
We stand to lose
everything if the
winds blow the fire
back.
While this resident is worried she will be forced to leave her home. I actually don't know where I would go to be honest.
Like I don't have family here.
I have friends but they're all affected.
By Wednesday night the winds could begin to calm down again and there is even a slight
possibility that by the end of the week there could be some rain.
