When a body is discovered 10 miles out to sea, it sparks a mind-blowing police investigation.
There's a man living in this address in the name of a deceased.
He's one of the most wanted men in the world.
This isn't really happening.
Officers are finding large sums of money.
It's a tale of murder, skullduggery and international intrigue.
So who really is he?
I'm Sam Mullins and this is Sea of Lies from CBC's Uncovered, available now.
From CBC News, the world this hour, I'm Gina Louise Phillips.
Still no word this morning from the US President about the steep levies he's promising to slap
on Canadian products, but yesterday he reiterated his commitment to put them in place starting today.
Kate McKenna has the latest on Ottawa's reaction.
Should there be tariffs, we will be ready.
Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Jolie says Canada won't take this threat lying down.
But at the same time, nothing is official yet.
We have yet seen any form of specific details coming from the White House regarding these comments.
Donald Trump repeated his threat on Friday, that 25% tariffs on Canadian goods will come into effect today.
He told reporters he expects the tariffs will include oil and gas, but at a lower rate and in mid-February.
Some provinces have estimated Trump's tariff threat could affect hundreds of thousands
of Canadian jobs.
Three cabinet ministers, including Zhou Li, were in Washington.
They've been lobbying U.S. lawmakers hard, saying tariffs will hurt Americans too.
So far, Trump doesn't appear to be listening.
Kate McKenna, CBC News, Ottawa.
Canada, Mexico and China aren't the only ones awaiting finer details on Trump's
tariff threats. The US president has indicated the EU could be facing steep
levies as well. Abby Kugadasen has more. US President Donald Trump has already
voiced some of his past grievances about the 27-nation bloc. The European Union is
very very bad to us. They don't take our cars at all
They don't take our farm products. The EU tariff rate on passenger cars is about 10%
Compared to the US tariff rate of 2.5%
The continent has heard Trump's complaints and threats before. During his first term in office
He slapped a 10% tariff on steel and aluminum imports from the EU
It was only dropped when the bloc agreed to buy more
American natural gas and soy products.
About 20% of EU exports went to the United States in 2023,
a critical market for the continent.
Still, the bloc says it is ready to retaliate.
And there appears to be some coordination
between the EU and allies like Canada.
In recent days, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Jolie said she'd speak with officials
in other countries on how to respond to US tariffs.
Abby Kordas in CBC News, Berlin.
To Philadelphia.
I just see the plane is getting lower and lower and lower.
They nipped the house, they hit a couple cars, boom! And they took it to the plaza.
I've never seen nothing like that a day in my life.
A witness describes what he saw after a medevac jet crashed into a mall in a Philadelphia
neighborhood Friday night. Authorities confirm all six people on the Learjet are dead. This
includes a pediatric patient, her mother, and a crew of four. It crashed about 30 seconds after
takeoff, setting homes and vehicles on fire.
The child, a Mexican national, had been in Philadelphia for medical care at a local hospital
and was headed home. Shy Gold represents the air ambulance company which operates the plane.
This flight was a repatriation flight of a patient who recovered and was headed home.
She was fit to fly, clear to go back home,
and we were contracted by a third-party charitable organization to transport her back to Mexico.
So the final destination was to Biti Juana International Airport.
Authorities have not confirmed injuries or fatalities on the ground. Israel and Hamas
have begun another exchange of hostages for detainees today. Two of three male captives were handed over to the International Red Cross in Yon-Han-Yunis
and have since been returned to Israel.
The third hostage was handed over in Gaza City.
In exchange, Israel is turning over a reported 183 Palestinian detainees.
Israel says it has received information from Hamas that eight
of the total 33 hostages were either killed in the initial Hamas attack in 2023 or have
died in captivity.
