Donald Trump hasn't announced his 25% tariff plan yet, but CBC News has learned some details about what it includes. A senior Canadian official says the plan will be released today, take effect on Tuesday, and applies to 10%, applies a 10% tariff that is on Canadian energy products. Caroline Bargout tells us more about what we've heard from Donald Trump so far. Yesterday, US President Donald Trump said the tariffs would be coming today and
Starting point is 00:01:03 would be set at 25% for Canada and Mexico. But at this point, we haven't seen any official details, including whether any goods would be exempt. On Friday, Trump said Canadian oil and gas will face 10% tariffs in a couple of weeks and said levies will be imposed on Canadian copper too, but not till later. And that's not all. Eventually, we're going to put tariffs on chips. We're going to put tariffs on oil and gas.
Starting point is 00:01:29 That'll happen fairly soon. I think around the 18th of February. And we're going to put a lot of tariffs on steel. For weeks, U.S. oil and automotive companies have lobbied President Trump for exemptions, warning of higher prices and wide supply chain issues. Starting point is 00:02:22 assault. Federal government sources have told CBC News the Trump administration has said if retaliatory tariffs are imposed, the tariffs will be raised. Hamas freed three more hostages today as part of the hostages for prisoner deal in the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Offer Kalduron hugs his four children, reassuring them he's fine after spending 484 days in Hamas captivity. Kalduron and two of his four children were kidnapped in Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel. Israel released 183 Palestinian prisoners and detainees today. So far Israel has released 583 Palestinian prisoners and Hamas has freed 18 hostages. Last night Ukraine again came under heavy bombardment. Officials say at least eight people died and 17 were injured when Russian troops fired a barrage of missiles and explosive drones into the country.
