In Scarborough, there's this fire behind our eyes.
A passion in our bellies.
It's in the hearts of our neighbors.
The eyes of our nurses.
And the hands of our doctors.
It's what makes Scarborough, Scarborough.
In our hospitals, we do more than anyone thought possible.
We've less than anyone could imagine.
But it's time to imagine what we can do with more.

From CBC News, the world this hour.
I'm Neil Herland.
We begin at Toronto's Pearson Airport.
Oh, just a plane crash.
Oh my God.
A passenger plane flipped over while landing Monday.
80 people were on board.
All of them survived, but 18 passengers are injured.
Nicole Williams reports.
Emergency crews were called to the airport
after a plane crashed on the runway and flipped upside down.
All 80 people on board are alive. It was a Delta
Airlines plane from Minneapolis operated by subsidiary Endeavour Air. Now cell phone
videos painted a really dramatic picture.
Everything drop it. Come on.
The chaos on board as passengers clamor to the hatch as they're helped off the plane.
They're wandering away
on the runway on their phones, presumably getting in touch with loved ones and big jets of water
from fire trucks spraying onto the body of the plane. Dozens of flights bound for this airport
have been diverted throughout the day to Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton and Winnipeg International
airports, but it seems most operations have returned to normal all but two runways have reopened while authorities
conduct an investigation into what exactly happened here. Nicole Williams,
CBC News, Toronto. Pete Carlson survived the plane crash with just a few cuts and
bruises. Tonight he sat down with the CBC's Adrian Arseneau for an exclusive
interview.
He described what it was like for him and the other passengers to escape the plane.
Everyone seemed like they were there to make sure we helped each other and we all made
our way kind of, I don't know, six to eight feet and then climbed out.
It felt like I was stepping onto the tundra, first of all, there was just snow just kind
of blowing
and you couldn't really see structures anywhere.
So it was, I didn't care how cold it was.
I didn't care how far I had to walk,
how long I had to stand.
I just, all of us wanted to just be out of the aircraft.
There was a wing there before,
and when we went out that exit,
there was no wing to be found.
And so once we got back to a safe distance
and kind of checked one another because
there's so much adrenaline and stress by that point there was a fire truck driving towards
us on the tarmac and so we all kind of gathered and took refuge behind that and uh and looked
for mafar and you can watch that interview tonight on the national on cbc news network
and cbc gem officials at toronto Toronto's Pearson Airport say they're helping the passengers.
Deborah Flint heads the Greater Toronto Airport Authority.
We are very grateful that there is no loss of life and relatively minor injuries.
We are very focused on the care and the concern of the passengers and the crew,
some of whom have already been reunified with their friends and their families.
Others, we have in a comfortable place right here at the airport,
in an environment where they're getting a lot of care and support.
And finally, Ontario's four major political parties faced off in a provincial election debate tonight.
The Liberal, Green and NDP leaders focused their attacks on progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford.
Lorinda Retikop reports. The NDP leaders focused their attacks on progressive conservative leader Doug Ford.
Lorinda Ratacop reports.
For much of the Ontario leaders' debate, it was three candidates against Doug Ford.
Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie landing a personal blow on the PC leader.
You were raised privileged with a silver spoon in your mouth.
You didn't have to work for anything.
You got a company handed to you, Doug, so you don't understand how expensive things are today. The Green Party leader hammered Ford on
affordability measures and those checks for all Ontarians. It's not fair that
Mr. Ford has handed out $200 checks to millionaires and billionaires like
Galen Weston the guy gouging you at the grocery store. Well let me tell you folks
it's your money that's what you paid into.
And when we saw more revenue come up to the coffers,
we believe that it goes back to the people to stimulate the economy.
The NDP leader in Ford tangled over education.
We actually hired 9,000 more educators.
Even though the population of students have been stagnant around 2 million.
Parents know that you're not telling the truth about this.
Lorenda Retikop, CBC News, Toronto. know that you're not telling the truth about this?
