The American president is not happy with his Ukrainian counterpart, according to National
Starting point is 00:00:41 Security Advisor Mike Waltz. Donald Trump is accusing Ukraine of starting the war when in fact Russia invaded Ukraine, and has called Zelensky a dictator, in spite of the fact he was elected. But Waltz says Trump's goal is to bring the war between Russia and Ukraine to an end. President Trump is obviously very frustrated right now with President Zelensky, the fact that he hasn't come to the table, that he hasn't been willing to take this opportunity that we have offered. But President Trump, he's focused on stopping the fighting and moving forward.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Zelenski met face-to-face today with Trump's special envoy to Ukraine in Kiev. But a joint news conference between the two, scheduled after the meeting, was canceled without explanation. The digital and media landscape is changing. Canada's Heritage Minister says the CBC needs to change too. The richest people on the planet control much of our means of communication is that these people want to influence our stories, the political conditions of every country, and the collective choices we make with an efficiency unrivaled in human history. Pascal Saint-Ange rolled out her proposal to modernize the English and French networks.
Starting point is 00:01:53 The public broadcasters mandate hasn't been updated since 1991. Among other things, she wants to create a stable funding model for the CBC that will not be affected by changes in government. Saint-Ange's vision for the CBC comes at a time when parliament is pro-road, so there is no guarantee it will survive beyond the next federal election. Conservative leader Pryor Polyev says he plans to cut $1 billion of the corporation's annual funding. A Pakistani man accused of planning a terrorist attack on Jewish people in New York has agreed
Starting point is 00:02:25 to be extradited to the United States. Mohammed Shahzeb Khan was arrested to the Quebec-New York state border in September. Sarah Levitt has more. Appearing in court wearing a tracksuit with his hair and beard grown out, Mohammed Shahzeb Khan said few words yes to the judge's question if he agreed to be extradited and no if he was coerced into the agreement. Much of what we know of the accusations against Khan come from court documents filed by the FBI. It accuses Khan of planning an ISIS-inspired mass shooting,
Starting point is 00:02:58 specifically targeting the Jewish community in New York City. Undercover cops say they communicated with him through encrypted text messages. His lawyer, Gaetan Bourassa, says Khan agreed to being extradited to speed things up. He decided to waive all those delay and instead go to the States and do Israel as soon as possible.
