arrived in Ukraine for his final official visit as Canada's leader.
Well, this is an important day for all of us to be here.
Ukrainian officials welcome Trudeau at the train station. This is the third anniversary
of Russia's invasion, and leaders
from more than a dozen countries are taking part in a ceremony today.
Trudeau is also expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
They'll discuss Canada's commitment to Ukraine, as U.S. President Donald Trump questions his
country's support for Zelensky.
Former Liberal leadership candidate Ruby Dalla is appealing her disqualification,
that fight taking place as the four remaining candidates go head-to-head in Montreal tonight
for the French language debate, the first of two matchups in the short race. Olivia
Stefanovich has more.
The fact that they have disqualified me clearly shows they did not want me on that debate
stage. The race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau now tighter after the Liberal Party disqualified former MP Ruby Dalla.
And it was actually through, you know, the CBC that I actually heard about the decision of the Liberal Party.
The decision came down late Friday.
The Liberal Party found Dalla in breach of 10 violations involving election finances,
all of which Dalla denies, leaving four candidates who will debate one another tonight for the
first time.
You know, it was just over a month ago that I entered the race.
Mark Carney is heading on stage with the most caucus support and fundraising.
He will face off against
former Liberal House leader Karina Gould, former Liberal MP and Montreal businessman
Frank Baylis and former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland. Olivia Stefanovic, CBC News, Ottawa.
Some Hyundai drivers say their car paint is peeling off in large chunks. It's happening to relatively new cars, but owners say getting any help has been difficult. As
Ethel Musa reports, it's a problem around the globe and specific to white
Hyundai's. Armando Tusi says he feels ashamed driving his 2016 Hyundai Sonata
around. He bought the car new and now less than 10 years later, the car's paint
is peeling, bubbling,
flaking off in large chunks.
It's actually quite insane how many people are being impacted by the same issue.
There are Facebook groups with thousands of people with white Hyundai's facing the same
problem and a proposed class action lawsuit in Quebec.
Experts say the cause is likely delamination or loss of adhesion,
which can happen when paint coats aren't applied properly or the incorrect
formulation is used. Hyundai Canada's warranty covers paint on vehicles for
three years or 60,000 kilometers. Hyundai Canada says their vehicles undergo
rigorous testing. The automakers US division is offering a white paint
warranty extension
for certain models. When Go Public reached out, Hyundai Canada said some models sold
in Canada are also eligible. Idomusa, CBC News, Toronto.
The Vatican says Pope Francis is resting this morning after a quiet night. He's been in
hospital for 10 days for a complex lung infection that has led to the early stages of kidney
failure, the leader of the Catholic Church is 88, and people around the world are praying
for him, especially after reports this weekend of his declining health.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards were handed out last night in Los Angeles, this year's
ceremony was streamed on Netflix, and a movie about the selection of a new pope took the top prize.
And the winner goes to...
Conclave.
The Vatican thriller Conclave wins Best Film Cast, the movie stars Ray Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini,
Stanley Tucci and John Lithgow. And the win could be a sign that next Sunday's Best Picture Race at the Oscars is wide open.
Meantime, Jane Fonda got the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award.
And that is your World This Hour. For CBC News, I'm Neil Herland.
