The eyes of our nurses.
And the hands of our doctors.
It's what makes Scarborough, Scarborough.
In our hospitals, we do more than anyone thought possible.
We've less than anyone could imagine.

Police have opened an investigation into the deaths
of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife,
their bodies found in their New Mexico home yesterday.
As Steve Utterman reports, the cause of their deaths is not clear.
The investigation goes on but so far there are no definitive answers.
Police say it appears 95-year-old Gene Hackman and his 64-year-old wife had been dead for several
days. One of the couple's three dogs was found dead in a bathroom closet, and there
were also some pills found near the body of Hackman's wife, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan
Mendoza.
There was no obvious sign or indication of foul play. There was no immediate sign of
foul play. I haven't ruled that out yet. This is an investigation, so we're keeping everything
on the table. You know, I think the autopsy is going to tell us a lot.
Fire crews did look into the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning but initial tests
found no sign of the gas in the house. Steve Futterman for CBC News, Los Angeles.
Kair Stahmer is applauding US President Donald Trump's push to end Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Trump hosted the British Prime Minister today in the Oval Office.
The two leaders discussed, among other things, a path forward to peace.
Richard Madden reports.
So our countries have been bound together for a very long time now.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House, urging President Donald Trump
to guarantee Ukraine's security in a potential peace deal with Russia. Starmor hoping to make his case by evoking the shared histories of Britain and the U.S.
forged during the Second World War that ended in victory for the allied forces.
One of the greatest moments in our history. We stand side by side still today.
And we're focused now on bringing an enduring end to the barbaric war in Ukraine.
Trump has worried Western allies by falsely blaming Ukraine for causing Russia's invasion
and hosting peace talks with Russia while excluding Europe and Ukraine.
While Starmer says he supports Trump's proposed peace deal giving security to Ukraine
in exchange for that country's critical minerals,
Starmer cautioned history must be on the side of the peacemaker, not the invader.

An Israeli military investigation has concluded the IDF failed to protect civilians
from the October 7th attack by Hamas.
The inquiry found the IDF underestimated the militant group's capabilities
and misjudged their intentions.
It says the army assumed Hamas was not interested in a full-blown conflict in the years leading
up to the attack.
The findings will likely increase pressure on the Netanyahu government to open a broader
probe.
The families of Morgan Harris and Mercedes Myron say the discovery of potential human
remains is both a relief and very hard.
The two First Nations women were murdered by a serial killer in Winnipeg in 2022.
Police believe their bodies ended up in a landfill near the city.
Melissa Robinson is Morgan Harris' cousin.
I was thinking back to when we were all told no, when the Winnipeg police told us no,
you know, when the government, Heather Stephenson, told us no, when the Winnipeg police told us no, you know, when the government, Heather
Stephenson told us no, you know, that couldn't be done and that it wouldn't be done to hell
with all you guys because it got done.
Conservative Premier Heather Stephenson said at the time it would be too difficult to search
the landfill. That decision became an issue in the 2023 provincial election won by Juan Guab
Cano and the New Democrats. They ordered a search that began last December. It will take
weeks for forensic identification to be done on the remains.
Ontario is reporting 78 new measles cases just in the last two weeks. That brings the
number of confirmed cases this year to 119 and surpasses the total number
of infections for the previous 10 years.
18 children have been hospitalized, including one who required intensive care.
Measles is an extremely contagious virus, primarily infecting children and teens who
have not been vaccinated.
It can also be fatal.
An unvaccinated child died of measles this week in Texas. That is
your World This Hour. For CBC News, I'm Mike Miles.
