In Scarborough, there's this fire behind our eyes.
A passion in our bellies.
It's in the hearts of our neighbors.
The eyes of our nurses.
And the hands of our doctors.
It's what makes Scarborough, Scarborough.
In our hospitals, we do more than anyone thought possible.
We've less than anyone could imagine.
But it's time to imagine what we can do with more.

With the latest tariff threats from Washington
scheduled to take effect tomorrow, Canadians
are bracing for what could be one of the most significant weeks in the country's recent
history.
All sectors of the Canadian economy will be impacted if the tariffs are levied, but the
federal government is insisting it is ready and waiting with a response.
Janice McGregor has more.
Minister Anita Onand confirmed yesterday Canada's still looking at targeting a
hundred and fifty five billion dollars worth of American goods if the
president's threat comes to pass. A month ago we were given a list of thirty
billion dollars worth of goods as targets. We'll see if the rest of the
list is released over the next day or so, whether the plan continues to be to ramp
retaliation up in stages. But yesterday conservative leader Pierre Pre polyette joined in the lamentation for this toxic new normal
regardless of what president does though
we can't rely on him
and we can rely on the americans anymore
we've learned our lesson
and as the day begins here will watch for signals but who's talking to him
because while there are negotiations that continue
there's still hope for another reprieve jan Janice McGregor, CBC News, Ottawa. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is headed
back to Ottawa after ending his visit to Britain with an audience today with King Charles. Trudeau
was in London for a weekend European Security Summit. Analysts say Trudeau's appearance was
meant to maintain Canada's role in the Transatlantic Alliance,
despite the Trump administration appearing to be on the verge of withdrawing from the Ukrainian war effort.
Going into his meeting today with King Charles, Trudeau had said he would be raising issues such as Canadian sovereignty.
Incidentally, the King has also committed to meeting with President Trump at some point in the near future.
It's another day of protest across Jerusalem, with demonstrators taking to the streets demanding
that the Israeli government move forward on the latest ceasefire proceedings with Hamas.
Sasha Petrusic has the latest.
With the ceasefire in doubt, protesters fill the streets of Jerusalem, worried that Israel's
hard line against Hamas militants will restart war in Gaza.
Israel has blocked all aid deliveries to the territory,
with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressuring Hamas to accept a US proposal
that would see more hostages released and a continued pause in fighting.
Israel has accepted this plan, I accepted this this plan but so far Hamas has rejected it
Hamas is pushing for a permanent end to the conflict as agreed in a ceasefire deal both sides signed
Six weeks ago one that's led to 33 hostages exchanged for almost
2,000 Palestinian detainees in Israel so far

Now to this year's Academy Awards, which were handed out last night in Los Angeles.
And right across the board it was the film, Anorah, that was the big winner.
Eli Glasner reports.
While many had expected the Academy Awards to be a night of surprises,
the Oscars played out pretty much as expected with Anorah winning five out of six nominated categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress.
Now that category, many expected Demi Moore to win for her role in The Substance, but it was Mikey Madison who took home the best
actress prize for playing the sex worker named Anora.
It's quite the result for a small film with only a $4 million U.S. budget.
Samantha Kwan is the Canadian producer of Anora.
We made this with very little money, but all of our hearts to all of the dreamers and the
young filmmakers out there, tell the stories you want to tell. Tell the stories that move you. I promise you, you will never regret it.
Other big winners included Adrienne Brody for his role in The Brutalist and Zoe Zadania
winning for her role as a lawyer in Amelia Perez. Eli Glaster, CBC News, Los Angeles.
