In Scarborough, there's this fire behind our eyes.
A passion in our bellies.
It's in the hearts of our neighbors.
The eyes of our nurses.
And the hands of our doctors.
It's what makes Scarborough, Scarborough.
In our hospitals, we do more than anyone thought possible.
We've less than anyone could imagine.
But it's time to imagine what we can do with more.

From CBC News, the world this hour.
I'm Neil Herland.
Canada's new liberal leader is taking aim at two targets.
Mark Carney is criticizing US.S. President Donald Trump
and conservative leader Pierre Polyaev.
Carney mentioned both of them during his victory speech last night,
after winning nearly 86 percent of his party's votes.
Donald Trump is trying to weaken our economy.
But there's someone else who, if he succeeds, will weaken our economy.
It's Pierre Polyev.
Pierre Polyev just doesn't get him.
Carney beat Christia Freeland, Karina Gould, and Frank Baylis, even though he has never
been elected to parliament.
The election of a new Liberal leader also marks the end
of Justin Trudeau's tenure. The outgoing Prime Minister spoke about his legacy at the
Liberal Convention on Sunday.
These past 10 years have been challenging. Crisis after crisis has been thrown at Canadians.
But through every crisis, Canadians have shown who they are.
We've pulled together.
We've stood up for each other.
And every single time, we've emerged even stronger.
Carney will become Prime Minister after being sworn in by the Governor General.
Last week, Trudeau said he expects the transition to happen in the coming days or week. Canada's official opposition is reacting to Carney's
win. On the platform ex-conservative leader Pierre Polyev says liberals are trying to
trick Canadians into electing them for a fourth term by replacing Trudeau with his economic
adviser Mark Carney. Polyev also criticized Carney at a rally on Sunday before the Liberals announced their
new leader.
Donald Trump will have a big smile on his face as he exploits all of Carney's many conflicts
to attack Canadian workers and Canadian jobs, but we conservatives won't let either of them
do it. We will put Canada first.
Meantime, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh congratulated Carney on his victory.
The gift card industry is estimated to be worth more than $11 billion in Canada,
but critics say there's little oversight when things go wrong.
Ethel Musa has more.
I said the receipt is there. It says it's activated. But critics say there's little oversight when things go wrong. Ethel Musa has more.
I said the receipt is there.
It says it's activated.
Joan Ohn says she was shocked to learn the $50 gift card she bought at Shoppers Drug Mart
last October was completely empty.
Experts say it was likely fraudsters, who steal gift cards from stores to get the card's
numbers and pin codes.
They then place them back in the store for unsuspecting customers to load with money.
And once you activate it, they have the ability to go in and drain the funds from that card.
Jeff Horncastle with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center says people need to inspect their gift
cards carefully to see if the packaging has been tampered with.
Gift card scams are also a major problem in the U.S.
where law enforcement officials have linked some of it
to Chinese organized crime groups.
After GoPublic contacted Shoppers Drug Mart,
it offered to compensate owns for her lost funds.
The company says its employees are trained to recognize
the signs of gift card tampering.
It'll move toy BC News Toronto.
Alberta has won this year's Canadian Men's Curling Championship.
Yes!
Brad Jacobs, here we go.
Got it and he does.
From the brink of elimination to Briar Champion, Brad Jacobs.
Jacobs is the winner of the Montana's Briar and Kelowna BC. He beat Manitoba's
Matt Dunstone 5-3 last night, his second
Briar title. The last time he won was
2013. It's relieving. It's been too long
since I've won this championship. I've
only got two now, but I said earlier in
the week that it would take a lot of
pressure off the rest of my career. I
hope that's the case. The Alberta team will now represent Canada at the World Championship.
And that is your World This Hour.
