From CBC News, it's the world this hour. I'm Joe Cummings. Canada's oldest retailer is back in court today with a new plan. Hudson's Bay is asking for permission to start liquidating the company's assets, but it's
Starting point is 00:00:49 now saying it hopes to save six of its outlets. Paula Dehoutchik explains. A lawyer for Hudson's Bay says recent sales have gone better than expected and the company is now hoping to keep six of its stores open, all of them in the Greater Toronto or Greater Montreal areas. Still, for many of the company's roughly 9,000 workers, there's fear and uncertainty. Kevin Grell works for the Bay.com distribution center in Toronto. Sales from the online retailer are set to end April 15th. I will be 62 in May and my plan was to work till 65 and retire. Well, it looks like that's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:01:26 The Bay has blamed its financial problems on COVID, inflation and trade tensions with the U.S. It's asking for permission to start liquidating all of its other stores as soon as Monday. It's hoping to get a court ruling today. Paula Duhaczek, CBC News, Calgary. Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, remains closed following an electrical fire overnight in West London. Many, many, many of the aircraft that are landing in Heathrow are the largest aircraft

Starting point is 00:02:28 to be repositioned. And to give you a sense of the Canadian impact, Air Canada said that they had to cancel 16 flights. We also know that WestJet had flights scheduled into Heathrow today, so did British Airways from Canada. And you also had flights that unexpectedly were diverted to Goose Bay in Finland and Labrador because they had to refuel after they were turned around midair. So it is a big deal for people disrupting your travel plans, and it's led to a lot of
Starting point is 00:02:52 frustration. Briar Stewart, CBC News, London. Ahead of Sunday's election call, Prime Minister Mark Carney is in Ottawa for a meeting this afternoon with the premiers. Among the issues on the agenda, a member of the Carney team is saying there will be discussions on dropping inter-provincial trade barriers to establish a single Canadian economy. A Quebec town says the United States is now limiting Canadian access to a library that straddles the border with Vermont.
Starting point is 00:03:18 The town of Stansted, Quebec, says U.S. authorities have decided to close the main Canadian entrance after decades of letting Canadian visitors enter without having to show a passport. Stan said officials say the new rules weaken the spirit of cross-border collaboration that dates back decades. CBC's Marketplace has taken the extraordinary step of establishing an anti-fraud center and brings together some of the most accomplished operatives in the global fight against online fraud. David Common has more. You're hearing the scammers in your headpiece right now.
Starting point is 00:03:51 I am. In a room filled with screens and software used to infiltrate scammer networks, top scam buster Jim Browning has identified a threat. It looks like this scammer is able to see the victim's computer and they've logged into their bank account. How much money is in that bank account? On one account alone there's nearly 250,000. CBC Marketplace brought together Jim and two other big name scam busters
Starting point is 00:04:17 to take on fraudsters around the world. I've actually got CCTV of the scam happening. Browning has even hacked his way into the security cameras of a room full of scammers targeting North America from Pakistan. The trio of fraud fighters have collectively stopped many millions of dollars flowing from victims to phone, text and online scams. It's hard to keep up but it doesn't slow them down from
