Starting point is 00:01:41 No foreign leader is going to determine who's best. One of the factors is going to be, in my judgment, who is going to be best for Canada in the negotiations with the Americans, which will come. But they're, from my perspective, they're not going to come until we get the respect we deserve as a sovereign nation. By the way, this is not a high bar. Carney has released details of a relief plan for those affected by the terror of war. He's promising to make it easier to get employment insurance and to allow companies to defer corporate income

Starting point is 00:02:51 After almost a decade as the liberal candidate for the riding of Nepean just outside Ottawa, Chandra Arya was told the party would not be signing off on his nomination. It says the decision was made after new information came to light. Luke Turjan teaches politics at the University of Ottawa. He says it's not surprising. In this specific case, it's perhaps less surprising because we knew this candidacy to be the leader of the party had been rejected. It wasn't clear exactly why it had been rejected, but there was a sense that there was a certain uneasiness in the party about his presence in the caucus. There had been some controversy about some of his actions over the last few years and perhaps with that regard, it's not that surprising.
