In Scarborough, there's this fire behind our eyes.
A passion in our bellies.
It's in the hearts of our neighbors.
The eyes of our nurses.
And the hands of our doctors.
It's what makes Scarborough, Scarborough.
In our hospitals, we do more than anyone thought possible.
We've less than anyone could imagine.
But it's time to imagine what we can do with more.

From CBC News, it's the World This Hour.

The federal election has been called
and the campaign is underway.
Who is ready to stand up for Canada with me?
In St. John's, Newfoundland, that is Liberal leader Mark Carney with a refrain we can expect to hear from all parties straight through the race.
While Carney is launching his campaign on the East Coast, conservative leader Pierre Poliev is underway in the province.
He knows he has to win if he's going to become prime minister.
Ontario.
Kay McKenna reports.
Bring that home! Bring that home!
Conservative leader Pierre Poliev's campaign kickoff included a rally in North York,
packed to the brim with eager voters.
Look at these incredible, hard-working, patriotic people.
With people like these, we can overcome any obstacle.
We can bring home the country we knew and love.
We can stand up to the Americans and put Canada first.
The line to enter the rally extended outside and sneaked around the venue.
Party staff couldn't let everyone in.
The room hit maximum capacity. Some people were turned away and given free
t-shirts. This is the fella that will reinstate the Canada we know and love.
The rally was held in the Toronto area. The region has been a bastion of liberal
support but conservatives want to make gains. They found success last year when
they turned a red Toronto seat blue in a by-election for the first time in 30 years. Kate McKenna, CBC News, Toronto.
As for NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, he launched his campaign yesterday in Montreal.
That's Singh saying it's important for the NDP to launch their race in Montreal because
it's the birthplace of late NDP leader Jack Layton.
In BC, Green Party co-leader Elizabeth May is saying the Greens are the only party focusing
on climate change while in Quebec City, Bloc leader Yves-Francois Blanchet says the key
issue for Quebecers in the campaign is US
President Donald Trump and the threat he poses to the French culture.
The day after holding talks with Ukraine, US negotiators are speaking today in Saudi
Arabia with Russia.
A ceasefire agreement for the war in Ukraine is on the table, but exact terms and a timeline
have yet to be agreed upon.
Briar Stewart has more.
The negotiations come after a phone call last week between US President Donald Trump and
Russian President Vladimir Putin.
I think you'll see a lot more progress get announced after Monday.
US envoy Steve Witkoff insists the Russian leader is interested in peace despite the
fact that Putin rejected a proposal for 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Our job is to narrow the issues, bring the parties together and stop the killing.
We do not trust Putin, we do not trust Russia.
Kira Rudik is a Ukrainian member of parliament and says despite the talks between Trump and
Putin, Russia continues to hit energy sites and civilian infrastructure.
Even if Russia says they are ready to do the ceasefire,
how would you enforce it and what would happen if they break their part of the deal?
Last night, Ukraine said Russia launched nearly 100 drones at sites across the country.
The Air Force said it shot down just over half of them.
Briar Stewart, CBC News, London.
Comedian Conan O'Brien was
honored last night at the Kennedy Center in Washington with the prestigious
Mark Twain Prize for excellence at American humor. And while many artists
have been boycotting the Kennedy Center because of recent actions taken by the
Trump White House, O'Brien is saying it was important for him to make an
appearance. My thought is I will be here specifically to honor Mark Twain and the people that this
award stands for and also the young, old, middle-aged that have worked here at the Kennedy
Center for a long time.
And this is their livelihood.
Since taking office, U.S. President Donald Trump has fired the board at the Kennedy Center
and has been installed himself as chairman.
And that is The World This Hour.
