When a body is discovered 10 miles out to sea, it sparks a mind-blowing police investigation.
There's a man living in this address in the name of a deceased.
He's one of the most wanted men in the world.
This isn't really happening.
Officers are finding large sums of money.
It's a tale of murder, skullduggery and international intrigue.
So who really is he?
I'm Sam Mullins and this is Sea of Lies from CBC's Uncovered, available now.
From CBC News, it's the world is ours.
I'm Joe Cummings.
U.S. President Donald Trump is rolling out his global tariff plan this afternoon.
It's not clear at this point what's in store for Canada, but Liberal leader Mark Carney
has temporarily suspended his campaign schedule and is in Ottawa preparing to issue a response
as Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the other party leaders are out on the campaign trail.
The way we fight back against Donald Trump is doubling down on who we are as Canadians
and our value that we are better off and we are stronger when we look out for one another.
That is NDP leader Jagmeet Singh in Winnipeg.
As for Conservative leader Pierre Polyev, he is in Toronto with a three-part plan to meet the US trade action.
One, we need an immediate response.
Two, we need to tackle the dispute after the election,
hopefully to bring it to an end.
But three, perhaps most important of all,
we need a long-term plan to build our economic fortress in Canada
so we are never vulnerable to these kinds of threats again.
Green Party co-leader Jonathan Pedneau is in Montreal today and the bloc's Yves-Francois
Blanchet is in the Ramoski area.
Now to the Middle East, where Israel is in the process of significantly expanding its
military campaign in Gaza.
And military officials are saying the goal is to, quote, crush Hamas.
Anna Cunningham has the latest.
This is a major expansion of Israeli military operations inside Gaza.
Israel hasn't specified how much land it plans to seize, but it's all during large-scale
evacuations.
In the southern city of Raffa and close to Qarn Younis, Palestinians already displaced
told to leave. In the southern city of Raffa and close to Khan Yunis, Palestinians already displaced Tolt Ali.
It's hard, says Najah Dahir carrying bags and her nine-month-old baby.
We are fleeing on foot, she says.
The Israeli military, she says, gave them two hours warning.
Defense Minister Israel Katz says the military will crush and clean the area of terrorists
and terrorist infrastructure.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeated his calls for Hamas to disarm
saying military pressure is the best way to get back the remaining 59 Israeli
hostages. Anna Cunningham, CBC News, London.
Meanwhile Benjamin Netanyahu is on a five-day visit to Hungary just despite
the fact he's facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
The ICC alleges that Netanyahu has committed war crimes in Gaza.
But while Hungary is a member of the ICC, President Viktor Orban says he has no plans
to enforce the warrant.
It was an election campaign that saw Elon Musk reportedly spend $20 million backing
the Republican candidate.
But in the end, the candidate supported by the Democrats has won a seat in the Wisconsin
Supreme Court.
As a little girl growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I'd be taking
on the richest man in the world.
And as Judge Susan Crawford at her victory rally last night as part of the campaign against
her Musk made multiple trips to Wisconsin and at one point he handed out two checks
worth a million dollars each to a pair of voters who had promised to vote for Crawford's
opponent.
The National Hockey League and Rogers have come to terms on a new broadcast deal. Today, we are thrilled to announce that the partnership we forged over a decade ago will
continue for more than another decade.
And this agreement will bring more live games to more fans across the country than ever
before.
That is NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.
It's a 12-year agreement worth $11 billion.
It gives Rodgers the broadcast rights to all league games, including the playoffs and the Stanley Cup final, on all platforms.
The agreement is worth more than double the existing deal, which is set to expire next season.
