This land taught us to be brave and caring, to protect our values, to leave no one behind. Canada is on the line and it's time to vote as though our country depends on it. Because like never before, it does. I'm Jonathan Pedneau, co-leader of the Green Party of Canada. This election, each vote makes a difference. Authorized by the Registeredleader of the Green Party of Canada, this election, each vote, makes a difference.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Authorized by the Registered Agent of the Green Party of Canada. From CBC News, the world this hour, I'm Julianne Hazelwood. The countdown to Election Day is on. The leaders of the four main parties are all making their final campaign push into the weekend as polls show a narrowing race. Cameron McIntosh has more. At whistle stops in Calgary and Saskatoon, Conservative leader Pierre Poliev shoring up support as polls show a handful of Prairie Conservative seats in play. Are we going to give them a fourth liberal term? Still leading the polls, Liberal leader Mark Carney is in vote-rich Ontario,
Starting point is 00:01:10 starting in Sault Ste. Marie asking for a strong mandate. I'm asking for your vote to stand up to Donald Trump. The NDP and Bloc Québécois both hope to hold the balance of power in a minority government. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh taking aim at the Bloc. Sadly, the Bloc is basically a useless party. Bloc leader Yves-Francois Blanchet brushing that off, urging Quebecers not to hand the Carney Liberals too much power. He is a different person from Mr. Trudeau, though his people around him are exactly the

A new jury has now been selected for a sexual assault trial involving five former World Junior hockey players. It happened after the presiding judge declared a mistrial in the case and dismissed the previous jury. The reasons for that decision are under a publication ban. Former U.S. Congressman George Santos has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison. The New York Republican served for barely a year before he was ousted by his House colleagues in 2023. He admitted to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen people to fund his campaign.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Last summer, he pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. The sentencing judge said Santos did not show any remorse and appeared to feel that it's always someone else's fault. Sophia Harris has more. Shoppers are streaming into the Hudson's Bay store in downtown Toronto looking for deals. What'd you get?
Starting point is 00:03:28 I got a towel from the way. The deals won't last much longer. Hudson's Bay is closing six stores previously spared after the castrap company failed to find a buyer for them. All locations are now holding liquidation sales. I feel really sad. My mother used to work here. But retail analyst Bruce Winder says there are multiple offers for a segment of the business,
Starting point is 00:03:50 perhaps one which monetizes those iconic Hudson Space stripes. I think that there's a little bit of latitude to take that sort of HBC logo and put it on more merchandise.
