Could a story so unbelievable be true?

Jonathan Pedneau says he's stepping down because he failed to win a seat in
Monday's election on his second attempt. Alexander Silberman has more. Jonathan Pedneau first won the
leadership in 2022 on a shared ticket with Elizabeth May. The former journalist and activist finished

Vancouver's mayor says an appropriate response to the deadly ramming attack last weekend is not a public inquiry but rather a stronger
mental health care system. The odds of this individual getting the help they
need would have been significantly higher if we had those supports in place.
Kent Simm is urging provincial and federal governments to expand involuntary
treatment for people with severe mental health issues.
The 30-year-old suspect is charged with murder after 11 people were killed at a Filipino cultural festival.
He had been under the care of a mental health team and on leave from hospital.
The mental health crisis is not just a health crisis. It has become a public safety crisis.
Kim says the city has also started an internal review to safeguard future public events.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford went off on his province's judges this morning
at an announcement on reforming the bail system.
Ford said too many judges let violent repeat offenders back into communities just days after they were arrested and accused of serious crimes.
We need tough on crime judges. You know one of these judges that are bleeding
hearts I can't wait till they retire. Matter of fact I'll pay him to retire
earlier. I'll pay you out for two three four years. Just get out of the system.
Ford also floated the idea of electing judges. He's also calling on Prime
Minister Mark Carney to toughen federal legislation on bail.
Statistics Canada says the Canadian economy shrank in February by 0.2 percent
but it was winter weather and not tariffs that likely contributed to the
slowdown. The agency points out winter storms hit central and eastern Canada as well as British Columbia
in February, and early numbers for March suggest that the decline may not have lasted long.
GDP is expected to show moderate growth last month.
The jury in London, Ontario is being shown text and video evidence from the night of
the alleged sexual assault involving former World Junior
hockey players. The five accused men have pleaded not guilty. Karen Pauls is at the courthouse.
Court were shown text in a group chat among the players shortly after Michael McCloud and the
complainant known as EM under a publication ban left Jack's bar and were seen at the Delta Hotel.
One included a message from McCloud which says,
Who wants to be in a three-way quick?
and is signed 209 Mikey.
At 314, some of the players are seen arriving at the hotel lobby.
In a video taken on McCloud's phone at 325 AM,
a male voice asks the woman,
You're okay with this though, right?
EM responds, I'm okay.
In a second longer clip taken an hour later,
EM is holding a towel to her naked chest.
She says, it was all consensual.
Are you recording me?
Okay, good.
A male voice asks, all consensual?
She answers, you are so paranoid.
Holy, I enjoyed it.
It was fine.
It was all consensual.
I am so sober.
That's why I can't do this right now.
An Uber receipt shows EM arrived home at 5.08 a.m. was all consensual. I am so sober that's why I can't do this right now. An uber
