Starting point is 00:01:05 speaking to Trump earlier this week. I think we're going to have a great relationship. He called me up yesterday and said let's make a deal. Carney is up against an unpredictable president who's ignited a global trade war and repeatedly threatened to make Canada the 51st state. CBC News has learned to show strength, Carney asked King Charles before the election about the possibility of delivering Canada's throne speech. Now that's confirmed.

Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters he will not play politics if and when conservative leader Pierre Pauliev runs in a by-election. Last Monday, Pauliev lost the Ottawa area riding he held for more than 20 years, leaving him with no seat in the House of Commons.
Starting point is 00:03:27 I've already indicated to Mr. Pauliev that if it's the decision of him and the Conservative Party to trigger, if I can put it that way, a by-election, I will ensure that it happens as soon as possible. No games, nothing, straight. Now comes word that an Alberta seat will open up for Paul Yev. Conservative MP Damien Couric won re-election in the riding of Battle River Crowfoot with more than 80% of the vote. But he now says he'll temporarily step down, allowing Paul Yev to run.
