Starting point is 00:00:00 When a body is discovered 10 miles out to sea, it sparks a mind-blowing police investigation. There's a man living in this address in the name of a deceased. He's one of the most wanted men in the world. This isn't really happening. Officers are finding large sums of money. It's a tale of murder, skullduggery and international intrigue. So who really is he? I'm Sam Mullins and this is Sea of Lies from CBC's Uncovered, available now.
Starting point is 00:00:33 From CBC News, the world this hour. I'm Claude Fade. We begin in Pecto County, Nova Scotia with a search for two young siblings now in its third day. Six-year-old Lily and her four-year-old brother Jack have been missing since Friday morning. Authorities say fog, black flies, and heat exhaustion have made the search more challenging. The CBC's Linda Ward reports. These two children haven't been seen since about 10 o'clock Friday morning.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Still no sign of six-year-old Lily Sullivan or four-year-old Jack Sullivan. Lily is described as having shoulder-length light brown hair with bangs. She was possibly wearing a pink sweater, pink pants and pink boots. And four-year-old Jack wearing blue dinosaur boots. The RCMP say it appears that they walked away from a home about 20 kilometers southwest of New Glasgow. No evidence that they were abducted, so we haven't had an amber alert for these two children. And this has been an immense search effort. About a hundred searchers searching this area, search and rescue teams coming in from all across the province. We've got two helicopters and a drone over the area,
Starting point is 00:01:45 tracking dogs on the ground, looking for any scent of the children. They are asking people, stay away and let those searchers do their work. Linda Ward, CBC News, Toronto. In Tel Aviv. Air raid sirens blare out across the city as people run for cover.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Israel's military says a missile launched from Yemen landed near the Ben Gurion Airport where people were directed through a terminal to a secure area. Videos posted by passengers showed smoke rising near the airport. Flights were briefly halted earlier today. Several airlines have suspended service or canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv. Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed responsibility for the attack. And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now promising retaliation at some time in the future.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Authorities in Brazil say they have foiled an attempt to bomb a Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro. The free concert on Coba Cabana Beach drew an estimated 2 million people yesterday. According to police, the attack was allegedly planned by a group spreading hate speech against the LGBTQ community. The group's leader was charged with the possession of illegal weapons while the locations of 15 other suspects were raided with phones and other electronic devices confiscated. Police in the UK have arrested multiple suspects in an alleged plot to attack an unnamed target in London.
Starting point is 00:03:17 British counter-terrorism officers say that five men were detained yesterday across England on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act and that people at the unnamed premise had been informed and are being offered advice and support. Four of the suspects are Iranian nationals. Police are still working on a motive. In Vancouver, people came together to mourn the victims of a deadly attack at a Filipino street festival a week ago.
Starting point is 00:03:44 Eleven people were killed, many more injured. Brady Strachan reports. Holding candles, people in a large crowd pray in unison. Eyes look downward or focus attention on a growing memorial of flowers, photos and ribbons. Scenes like this are unfolding across Vancouver this weekend as people grieve and remember the 11 lives lost and many more injured during last weekend's Lapu Lapu Street Festival. It's a day-by-day process to heal together. MLA Mabel Elmore, who is of Filipino heritage, says it's important for people
Starting point is 00:04:23 to seek support and help one another. It's tough but being together with people has really helped and just sharing those experiences. So there will be more opportunities like this for the community to gather on Sunday including at a gudwara Premier David Eby is expected to attend and later at a vigil in Richmond. Brady Strachan, CBC News, Vancouver. And that is your World This Hour. For CBC News, I'm Claude Figg.
