We begin with a tragic story in Manitoba.

A wildfire has killed two people northeast of Winnipeg. The bodies of a man and a woman who got trapped by the flames were recovered Wednesday. Cameron McIntosh reports on the fires burning across the province. I'm very saddened to share that officers with the Manitoba RCMP recovered two bodies believed to be an adult male and female. RCMP are still investigating but say they died after being trapped in a wildfire in an area under mandatory evacuation notice just outside of Lactobonnie, Manitoba. The Lactobonnie fire is one of several posing significant threats in Manitoba. Where dry and hot conditions in the eastern part of the province are fueling wildfires that authorities say have at times been too dangerous to fight.

This is an extremely dynamic time for us. Christine Stevens is with the Manitoba Emergency Management Organization. She says the worst fires are nowhere close to under control. We are very much in a live response type of situation where we're working to protect people, critical infrastructure and property. Manitoba's wildfire season off to an early and blazing start. Cameron McIntosh, CBC News, Winnipeg. Prime Minister Mark Carney and his newly appointed cabinet held their first official meeting

on Wednesday, with Carney enacting a promise he made during the election. Tom Perry has more. To sign this order to deliver that tax cut. There was no black Sharpie, but Mark Carney did seem to channel Donald Trump as he sat before his cabinet and signed a decree, directing Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne to enact the middle-class tax cut the Liberals promised in the last election. This is very significant and it sends a very strong and clear message to Canadians. Champagne says the cut worth up to $840 for a two-income family will need to be passed in parliament.

With the Liberals just shy of a majority, he expects opposition parties to support the measure or not stand in the way. But Champagne revealed he has no plans to release a budget before summer, meaning Canadians will have to wait for a fall economic update to see the government's books, leading Conservative leader Pierre Poliev to accuse the Liberals of having no road map and no willingness to lead. Tom Perry, CBC News, Ottawa. Qatar is purchasing dozens of jets from Boeing as part of a multi-billion dollar deal signed with the Trump administration. And U.S. President Donald Trump says he will accept a luxury jet from Qatar's royal family to

replace Air Force One. Eli Glasner reports. Qatar is exploring gifting the Trump administration a luxury 747 Boeing described as a flying palace in the sky. Trump is all in. I could say no no no no, no, don't give us, I want to pay you a billion or four hundred million or whatever it is. Or I could say, thank you very much. But the Constitution also has something to say. It's called the Emoluments Clause, and it says, no person shall accept any present from any king, prince, or foreign state. So how is this legal?

With the blessing of the Attorney General, Pam Bondi, who lobbied for Qatar in the past, the plan is for Qatar to give the plane to the Defense Department. Mark Palmaropoulos is a former CIA intelligence officer. He says the idea of retrofitting another country's plane is preposterous. You're worried about things such as, you know, listening devices, things that could knock out counterintelligence systems. And so the free gift that Trump is touting. This is actually going to cost the U.S. taxpayers a great deal more money.
