Starting point is 00:00:40 of emergency in one of Manitoba's largest parks. Nearly 1,000 people have been forced to evacuate and one community is grappling with the loss of two members. Rosanna Hempel has the latest. Of course I'm worried. I mean we just lost a friend. The community of Lactobani northeast of Winnipeg is in shock while mourning two of their own. Sue and Rich Noel have been identified as the couple who died. Manitoba RCMP say they were trapped by an out-of-control wildfire outside town. Eric Macalas says he knew them.
Starting point is 00:01:15 She was a lovely lady. A lot of people are very sad about it. Officials say crews are making progress on the Lactobani fire, but it's still out of control. Lawrence Schenkel is rave of the rural municipality of Lactobani fire but it's still out of control. Lauren Schenkel is Reeve of the rural municipality of Lactobani. It's heart-wrenching. We lost 28 dwellings in that area, you know, and then it goes without saying the loss of life in that area. It just, you know, you can't really describe it in words.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Several other out-of-control wildfires continue to burn in southeastern Manitoba, near the Ontario border. Rosanna Hempel, CBC News, Winnipeg. Hope is fading for a breakthrough in Russia-Ukraine ceasefire talks getting underway in Turkey. Russian President Vladimir Putin was a no-show. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Putin for sending a low-level delegation and says he won't meet with them because Russia is disrespecting the process. Trump's U.S. President Donald Trump says no deal will be made until he sits down for talks with
Starting point is 00:02:25 Putin himself. Two of North America's largest grocery chains are warning shoppers that tariffs are starting to impact supply and prices. Loblaw executives say their stores are running out of inventory brought in before the trade war. They say that means prices could soon spike as those products are replaced with ones that are being hit with the tariffs. Walmart today delivered a similar message to U.S. consumers. Its executives say they plan to raise prices on goods because of higher

In Los Angeles, the sheriff's department says it has opened an investigation into 85-year-old Motown legend Smokey Robinson in connection to allegations of sexual abuse. Steve Futterman reports. The announcement by the LA County Sheriff comes a week after a civil suit was filed by four women, all former housekeepers, accusing Smokey Robinson of a series of sexual crimes dating back as far as 2014. The sheriff's department in a brief statement says its investigation is in the early stages. Robinson's attorney vigorously denies the allegations calling them manufactured, suggesting the women are
Starting point is 00:03:40 simply out to get money. The former housekeepers claim they were repeatedly assaulted. Their attorney John Harris described some of the accusations made against Robinson last week. Sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment. Robinson's wife is also named in the lawsuit. As seen on CBC and Roger Sportsnet, Mark Shieffley's goal early in the second period was all the Jets needed.
