Starting point is 00:00:37 We begin in Washington. We just spent two and a half hours talking to Vladimir Putin and I think some progress has been made. It's a US president. Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a ceasefire. He says he believes his call with Russian president Vladimir Putin went well. Trump added the nature of those peace talks would be negotiated between Moscow and Kiev. After the call, Putin said contact between delegations had resumed. Canada is among nearly two dozen countries calling on Israel to fully reopen humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza. Today's statement also stresses the need for the UN to be allowed to do its work in the territory to save lives. Today, a handful of trucks entered Gaza for the first time in 11 weeks. Food security agencies warn 2.1 million Palestinians are at dire risk of famine. Spokesperson James Elder with UNICEF says the rate of malnutrition in children is doubling. We need some of the thousands and thousands of trucks that are at that border to flow

Israel says the blockade was meant to put pressure on Hamas to release hostages still
Starting point is 00:02:18 held in Gaza. NTSB investigators say there was no significant structural damage to Brooklyn Bridge after a tall ship crashed into it on the weekend. Two sailors died and 22 others were injured when the Mexican ship sailed into the bridge. The agency says the cause of the accident is still under investigation. Mourners have been visiting the spot in Toronto where three children were killed early Sunday morning. The SUV they were in was hit by a minivan. That van's driver, a 19-year-old man, now faces impaired driving charges.
Starting point is 00:02:53 The CBC's Allie Chyasson has more. Bits of glass and plastic litter the pavement at Highway 401 and Renforth Drive in Etobicoke, where Sunday morning's fatal collision claimed the lives of three children, all of them siblings, traveling with their mom and a family friend. Their SUV was stopped at a red light as an allegedly speeding vehicle, lost control and slammed into them, killing a 15 and 13-year-old boy as well as their six-year-old sister. Police arrested 19-year-old Georgetown resident Ethan LaHoulié on scene. Pamela Fuseli is with Parachute, an organization that advocates for families affected by impaired driving crashes.
Starting point is 00:03:32 When we look at collisions that young or youth are involved with, that's like 16 to 24 years. You know between 40 and 50 percent of those crashes are due to impaired driving. So they are well represented unfortunately in the statistics. The 35-year-old mother, the family friend and a 10-year-old daughter are expected to live. Ali Chasson, CBC News, Toronto. Some Quebec farmers are helping out after more than 200 dairy cows were left without shelter. A barn fire in Champlain near Trois-Uvères killed close to 300 animals. But the farmer
Starting point is 00:04:06 was able to save nearly as many. He reached out for help on social media because he has nowhere to keep them. All of the animals now have new barns, if just temporarily. The fire department is currently investigating the cause of the fire. Later this year, a 50-year-old kids' show will find itself in a new location. Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street? The answer is Netflix. Its new streaming deal gives Sesame Street a new home, after Warner Bros. Discovery decided not to renew the show for HBO Max last year. The show's executives say the new Netflix season will feature longer segments
Starting point is 00:04:48 and select past episodes will be available. Sesame Street will also continue to air on PBS. And that is Your World This Hour.
