Mom, mom, did you see my race?
Of course I did darling. Look, you did your best.
You tried. The thing is it's not about winning, it's about taking part.
Next year you might do better. But I did win, mom.
You did? When it's sunny, make sure you can still see.

The clock is ticking on a new strike by Canada post workers.
55,000 unionized employees could walk off
the job starting this Friday. Kate Holowadiak is with a Canadian Union of
postal employees, Victoria Local. There's definitely still time. 72 hours notice
can be a long time especially when so many conversations have already been had
about these issues. The latest threat follows a strike last November and
December that lasted 32 days.
That job action ended when the Canada Industrial Relations Board
ordered the two sides back to work on December 15th
during the busy Christmas mailing season.
The current collective agreement was extended until this Thursday
John Hamilton speaks for Canada Post.
We need to negotiate an agreement and not have another strike
because it would be debilitating to the Canadian economy
at a time where it just doesn't need it
and it would only worsen our financial situation
which is to the tune of a billion dollars in losses a year.
The union and the Postal Service have been holding talks
but without much progress.
Last week a federally commissioned report on Canada Post recommended
major changes, including the end of daily door-to-door letter mail delivery for individuals.
U.S. President Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine will immediately begin ceasefire negotiations.
Trump made the announcement after making separate calls with the leaders of both countries,
and he's expressing optimism about Russian President Vladimir Putin. I believe Putin wants to
do it. Now if I thought Putin didn't, well I mean that's what I do. My whole life is
like deals, one big deal. And if I thought that President Putin did not want to get
this over with, I wouldn't even be talking about it. Russia launched a
full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago.
The two sides had peace talks last week in Turkey.
Canada is among nearly two dozen countries calling on Israel to fully reopen humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
The statement also stresses the need for the UN to be allowed to do its work in the territory.
On Monday, some aid trucks entered Gaza for the first time in 11 weeks.
James Elder is with UNICEF.
He says the rate of malnutrition in children is rising.
We need some of the thousands and thousands of trucks that are at that border to flow
into Gaza.
It can't just be tokenistic.
It can't just be in the south.
We need those 400 distribution points in Gaza to be utilized, not drip, drip, drip, to prevent political pressure.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says famine must be avoided from a practical and diplomatic standpoint.
Israel says the blockade was meant to put pressure on Hamas to release hostages still held in Gaza.
The Toronto Star is identifying the three siblings killed in an alleged impaired driving
incident in the city. A longtime family friend making the confirmation to the newspaper Monday,
Ali Shiasan reports.
Ramon, Jace and Maya, Lavina, all siblings, are the three children who died in Sunday morning's crash.
Their mother, Jade Galv, suffered broken ribs and a concussion but is expected to live, along with her 10-year-old son Avery, who
suffered a broken arm and collarbone. This new information, published by the Toronto
Star, comes as an outpouring of support grows in a GoFundMe set up for the Lavina family.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Ethan L'Houlier faces multiple impaired driving charges. Toronto
police say he was drunk
behind the wheel of a Dodge Caravan, allegedly speeding down a highway off-ramp onto Renforth
Drive in Etobicoke, where the accident happened. LaHoulié was arrested on scene. People have been
laying flowers at the crash site. Also sharing her condolences, Jennifer Neville Lake, who lost her
three children in a drunk driving crash 10 years ago, posting X quote I'm so so sorry in grief and solidarity.
Ali Shiasan, CBC News, Toronto. Later this year a 50 year old kid show will find
itself in a new location.
The answer is Netflix. The new streaming deal gives Sesame Street a new home.
And that is your World This Hour.
