Starting point is 00:00:41 rejected the union's offer of a two-week truce ahead of a looming strike on Friday. The truce would have delayed job action, but Canada Post says it's committed to negotiating and further delay is in no one's interest. The Crown Corporation delivered its latest proposal to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers today. It includes wage increases and benefit protections, which the union says it will review. It also suggests creating part-time positions for weekend deliveries, something the union has not supported. It was another combative afternoon at the White House. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa met with US President Donald Trump, hoping to discuss trade.
Starting point is 00:01:20 But instead, he had to confront baseless allegations that white farmers in the African country are victims of genocide. Aaron Collins has the details. I would like to recalibrate those relations between our two countries. South Africa's President Cyril Remiposa looking to repair relations with the U.S., even bringing some of the American president's favorite golfers along. That reset needed after Donald Trump's repeated claims that white South African farmers are being persecuted.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Trump brought dozens of white South Africans to the U.S. as refugees just last week. How do you explain that? They're taking people's land away and and in many cases, those people are being executed. The South African delegation politely pushed back on that, but big questions linger about the state of relations between the two nations, including whether President Trump will take part in G20 meetings set to be held in South Africa in November. Starting point is 00:02:31 Louisville, Kentucky. It's also dismissing lawsuits against the city's police forces that accuse them of unconstitutional police practices. And it's ending investigations or retracting findings into police violations in six other cities. The announcement comes five years after George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis police officer. His death sparked protests against racism and police brutality right around the world. Humanitarian groups insist they don't have access to the humanitarian aid that made it into Gaza.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Israel says 100 trucks containing baby food and medicine are now on the Palestinian side of the crossing, but it wouldn't comment on the reported delays in aid distribution. Crystal Gomancing has the latest. We are in a famine, yells Jihad Hader. In a soup kitchen in Han Yunis, only Hader's anger is being fueled. As you can see, all of their pots are empty, all of them. Israel allowed aid trucks to enter as of Monday, but humanitarian groups say the Israeli military

None of these aid, that is very limited number of trucks, have reached the Gaza population. The Pope appealed to Israel Wednesday. The situation in the Gaza Strip, he said, is increasingly worrying and painful. He called for the end of hostilities saying children, the elderly and the sick are paying the highest price.
