An Ontario man who killed a provincial police officer has been convicted of murder and the
attempted murder of two other officers. As Christine East reports, graphic body camera
footage played an important role in the case. It took the jury a little more than a day to

On the other side of the courtroom,
Belfay's family cried.
The 41-year-old had admitted to shooting the officers
but maintained his innocence.
He said he thought it was a home invasion by robbers.
Crucial evidence in the case came from the body-worn
cameras of the police, at that time, quite new for OPP.
The defense says Belfort's family and friends
are heartbroken. He has 30 days to decide if he wants to appeal.
