From CBC News, it's the world this hour.

Speaking this morning in the House of Commons, Prime Minister Mark Carney says he welcomes
a U.S. court ruling that puts most of the Trump tariffs on hold.
But Carney says the threats facing Canada are still far from over.
We recognize that our trading relationship with the United States is still profoundly
and adversely threatened and affected by similarly unjustified tariffs against steel,
aluminum and the auto sector, as well as continuing threats of tariffs against other strategic
sectors including lumber, semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.
Carney's comments follow the U.S. federal court ruling that blocks most of the Trump tariffs.
The court says that the White House has overstepped its authority.
Trump officials are insisting an appeal will be launched, with the White House saying,
quote, it is not for unelected judges to decide how to address a national emergency.
With thousands of people under evacuation orders and dozens of fires burning out of control,
the Prairie Provinces are at this point at the forefront of the Canadian wildfire season.
In northern Saskatchewan, there are 19 active blazes, with more than 10 communities evacuated.
At the same time, in neighboring Manitoba, 22 fires are burning,
and a province-wide state of emergency has been declared.
Josh Krabb has more now from Winnipeg.
Firefighters forced away from the flames.
A wildfire has spread from Saskatchewan within two kilometres of the northern Manitoba city
of Flynn Flon.
More than 5,000 people who live there were ordered to leave before midnight.
It's one of 22 active fires in Manitoba.
A province-wide state of emergency has been declared to help with the evacuation of multiple
communities and First Nations.
All told, we're looking at about 17,000 people in northern communities that are being evacuated.
Premier Wab Kinew says Prime Minister Mark Carney has offered federal support.
Manitoba asked for help from the Canadian Armed Forces, moving people from remote places
where highway and airport access has been cut off.
The province is working with officials in Winnipeg to make room for evacuees in community
centres and recreational facilities.
With hot temperatures and no rain in the forecast, there is little relief in sight for crews
on the front lines.
Josh Crabb, CBC News, Winnipeg.
Incidentally, the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations is on social media today
praising the emergency crews battling fires across the Prairie provinces. Cindy Woodhouse-Nepanuck
says she's been in contact with First Nations chiefs and is as well planning to speak today
with Prime Minister Carney. Israel is confirming it will establish 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank.
A security cabinet vote on the issue was held in secret last week.
The newly established settlements will include the legalization of a number of outposts
that were already built without government authorization.
Defense Minister Israel Katz is calling it a strategic move, and one he says will prevent
the establishment of a Palestinian state that would endanger Israel.
Israeli settlements in the West Bank are widely considered illegal under international law.
Now to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Edmonton Oilers.
They can advance to the Cup final tonight with a win over the Dallas Stars.
Game five of their Eastern Conference Series is set for Dallas with the Oilers leading
that best of seven three games to one.
A victory and Edmonton moves on to play for the Stanley Cup against the Florida Panthers.
Stars!
Byron Verhege finds the one up inside of the net and he puts it in to put Florida back
out front 4-3.
That's the Panthers last night on their way to a 5-3 victory and a 4-1 series win over
the Carolina Hurricanes.
For the defending Stanley Cup champions, it's the third straight year that they've made
it to the Cup final.
And that is the World This Hour.
