In this acclaimed new production of Anna Karenina, the National Ballet of Canada asks,
what is fair in love and society?
Renowned choreographer Christian Spook adapts Tolstoy's epic novel to dance in a spectacular
work complete with lush costumes, cinematic projections, and a glorious curated score,
featuring the music of Rachmaninoff.
On stage June 13th to 21st, tickets on sale now at national.ballet.ca. Sponsored

From CBC News, the world this hour. I'm Trisha Kindleman. Starting this hour in the Middle
East where reports say at least 26 people are dead after Israeli tanks opened fire near an aid
centre in Gaza.
Another 150 people have been injured.
Red Cross officials say the crowd was gathered to receive food in the southern city of Ra'afah.
CBC's Tom Perry is following the story.
Well, at this point, we've been hearing reports of multiple fatalities near an aid distribution
site in southern Gaza. We've seen images of
people being brought to hospital. We've heard from doctors talking about treating the wounded.
This apparently happened, as I said, around a centre where aid was being distributed. The
Israel Defence Force is saying it's unaware of any casualties. We've also heard a statement this morning from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
That's the group that's been operating in the area saying it's operating as normal.
But again, these are very conflicting reports at this point.
Despite these reports we're getting from the Israeli military and from the aid group,
the fact is we are hearing from doctors, from patients coming in.
So something, something clearly has happened.
Tom Perry, CBC News, Ramallah.
And back here at home with nearly 100 active wildfires across the prairies,
Canada is putting out the call for help internationally.
Alexandria Jones is with the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre,
also known as CIFSI. She says they're dealing with a serious situation.
All the available Canadian firefighting resources are already engaged in firefighting, so there
is no further resource availability within Canada, which means that CIFSI is reaching
out to our international partners for assistance.
Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate due to those fires and both Saskatchewan
and Manitoba have declared provincial states of emergency. Meanwhile Canada's premiers are heading
to Saskatoon today and they'll be meeting with Prime Minister Mark Carney tomorrow. He has asked
the premiers each to pass on suggestions for national infrastructure projects. Monday's meeting
will aim to identify the ones that could make the final cut and those that could be fast-tracked using legislation Ottawa may
introduce as early as this week. The conversation is taking place against the backdrop of an
ongoing trade war with the United States. It also comes after President Donald Trump
announced that he plans to double tariffs on steel and aluminum from 25 to 50 percent,
which could take effect as early as Wednesday.
And the polls are open in Poland's presidential runoff election today.
Some say the stakes couldn't be higher for the country's future on the European and global stage.
Dominic Velaitis has more.
This election sees two candidates with very different political visions going head to head for the presidency.
Warsaw mayor, Rafał Trzaskowskiowski is the son of a famous jazz musician,
a centrist, backed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk's Civic Platform Party,
who's pro-EU and supports Ukraine's bid to join NATO.
He's up against the former boxer and conservative historian, Karol Nawrowski.
Backed by the nationalist Law and Justice Party, he's sceptical of the EU and although
is in favour of supporting Ukraine, opposes the country joining NATO over fears of angering
Russia.
The outcome of this contest will have significant implications for Prime Minister Donald Tusk's
centrist government.
If Nawrowski wins, he'll likely use the presidential veto to block Tusk's reforms
and hamper his goal of reversing the nationalist trajectory Poland has taken in recent years,
a direction which could complicate the country's relations not just with the EU but NATO too.
Dominic Velaitis for CBC News, Riga, Latvia.
And in Paris, security has been tightened ahead of a victory parade later today.
The parade comes after a night of violent clashes and arrests during celebrations for
Champions League-winning soccer team Paris Saint-Germain.
Two people died and close to 500 arrests were made.
Police fired tear gas as fans shot off fireworks along the Champs-Élysées.
But things took a turn as some fans began looting shops, smashing bus shelters and torching vehicles.
