Quebec Premier Francois Legault says the province will be sending teams to assist in battling the wildfires across the prairies and

Water bombers are already flying on Saskatchewan and Ontario, and groups of firefighters are being deployed to Manitoba, where some First Nations are frustrated by slow evacuation efforts. Vice Chief Kelly Linklater of the Matias-Colombe-Cree Nation, also known as Pukatawagan, says his people are scared. A Hercules or two would definitely help with that. I'm not sure what the reason why they're not sending in the Hercules.
Starting point is 00:01:11 This is our fourth major fire we've experienced. That mode of evacuation or evacuating of community members was was available at that time. Fire on the Pukatawagan airstrip did slow down these evacuations, but the ban says half of the reserve's residents have gotten out. Prime Minister Mark Carney is set to meet this hour with energy executives in Calgary. Carney has said he wants Canada to be an energy superpower, and that he wants to knock down obstacles to get projects built.
Starting point is 00:01:42 The meeting comes the day before the First Minister's Summit in Saskatoon, where Carney and the premiers will talk about the latest Trump tariffs, among other issues. At least 31 people are dead after Israeli tanks reportedly opened fire near an aid centre in Gaza. An ambulance rushed some of the 170 wounded to hospital. Red Cross officials say the crowd was gathered to receive food in the southern city of Rafa. Witnesses say thousands had arrived at the aid center, only four Israeli forces to tell them to disperse and come back later. With another round of peace talks just hours away, Ukraine
Starting point is 00:02:25 and Russia have sharply ramped up their war with one of the largest drone battles of the conflict. Dominic Velaitis has the story. Local people watch on in disbelief as smoke billows from a Russian military airbase in Novo-Moltinsk, an audacious attack deep inside Russia. Ukraine says its drones attacked four airbases and hit 40 warplanes. If confirmed, it would be the most damaging Ukrainian drone attack of the war and a significant setback for Moscow. Meanwhile, Moscow has accused Kyiv of blowing up two bridges in separate regions bordering Ukraine, killing at least seven people and injuring dozens more. The incidents came just hours after Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles in
Starting point is 00:03:19 an attack on Ukraine early Sunday. The violence comes ahead of Monday's scheduled second round of peace talks in Turkey. Dominic Vellaitis for CBC News, Riga, Latvia. In Paris, celebration turned to calamity as soccer fans clashed with police. Two fans are dead and a police officer is in a coma. Police firing tear gas as fans shoot off fireworks. The celebrations were for Paris Saint-Germain's soccer team.
Starting point is 00:03:50 It won the Champions League final for the first time ever, but the party took a turn as some fans began looting shops, smashing bus shelters and torching vehicles. More than 500 people were arrested. A park in Riverview, New Brunswick has something new for dogs. A stick library. Dogs sniff out their pick and use it to take their human on a scenic walk. Ash Aerosmith led the project. I was scrolling on Instagram and I saw this video of this golden retriever
Starting point is 00:04:21 getting a stick from a dog stick library somewhere in the south on a beach and it made me smile and it made me kind of laugh and I thought that's kind of a cool idea that I thought you know maybe that's something that we could do here. Aerosmith and his border collie Mason were among the early users of the library. So far reviews have been very positive. Dog owners take note while there are no penalties for late returns, dogs are responsible for restocking the stick library for other users.
