From CBC News, the world this hour. I'm Neil Herland. Prime Minister Mark Carney and Canada's
Starting point is 00:00:41 13 provincial and territorial premiers are meeting in Saskatoon today. They'll talk about how to improve trade within this country. Rafi Budjikanian has more. I'm looking forward to finding some common ground. We've had a couple of nice texts. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has not been shy about what she's looking for. Faster approval for pipeline projects criss-crossing Canada, including one to the West Coast. I think that there's a spirit of collaboration. There has certainly been the talk. Prime Minister Mark Carney has spoken for months now of nation-building projects that kick-start the Canadian economy, setting high hopes and
Starting point is 00:01:17 expectations for his first meeting with premiers since he got elected. New Brunswick's Susan Holt says investors would be interested in new energy projects. I think the case is looking better and better as we see the demands globally and the constraints in supply. Quebec Premier François Lagaud, though, is still looking to be convinced.
Starting point is 00:01:36 If there's a project, we're ready to look at it if it goes through Quebec territory, but we'll need to have economic impact, positive ones for Quebec. Rafi Boudjikan, YonCBC News, Saskatoon. The conservative candidate has won Poland's presidential election after a runoff vote this weekend. Karol Nawrowski got nearly 51% support. Officials in Boulder, Colorado now say eight people were injured after a man allegedly used a flame thrower and Molotov cocktails to attack a Jewish community event. The victims were taking part in a weekly walk to show support for the Israeli hostages being held captive in Gaza.
Starting point is 00:02:19 We're forcing on! Cell phone video shows the aftermath of the attack, people are heard screaming and some of the victims are on the ground Alex Osante witnessed the attack. There was a guy throwing, he threw a molotov cocktail at a group of protesters and one person caught on fire from head to toe and they were burning up, their whole body was burning up and a few others were also on fire. Mark McCulloch is the FBI Special Agent in charge of the investigation.
Starting point is 00:02:49 He calls it a targeted terror attack. The suspect was heard to yell, free Palestine, during the attack. The subject has been identified as Mohammed Sabri Salman, and he's 45 years old. The eight victims are between 52 and 88 years old. One of them is seriously injured. More than 170 wildfires are burning across Western Canada. Half of them are out of control. Evacuations are underway in many of the affected communities. Sam Sampson reports. A normally sleepy train station in Winnipeg filled with Manitobans
Starting point is 00:03:26 fleeing wildfires over the weekend. After being flown out of Pukatawagan in the north, residents like River Caribou took a 16-hour train ride to seek refuge. But it's very comfy. The baloney sandals were great. But rooms are running out as 17,000 people flee fires in Manitoba. Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Grand Chief, Kyra Wilson, among others, is urging the province to force hotels to make room for evacuees. And it's really sad to see, you know, our children having to sleep on floors. Fires forced more communities in Saskatchewan to evacuate over the weekend. Officials say conditions are bad and without rain, the fires are expected to grow.
Starting point is 00:04:09 Rain did fall in Alberta, which helped firefighters, but conditions are still too dangerous for the 4,500 Albertans forced from their homes to return. Sam Samson, CBC News, Edmonton. It was the final night of the Canadian Screen Awards to honor the best in Canadian film and television and a popular city TV show won the top TV prize. And the Canadian Screen Award goes to Law and Order Toronto. Law and Order Toronto is now in its second season in the film category the apprentice won best motion picture. It tells the story of Donald Trump's early years before he became U.S. President. And that is your World This Hour.
