Starting point is 00:00:38 least four people are dead after an Iranian missile strike in the city of Bat Yam. Merchants and crews are digging through the wreckage looking for victims and survivors. This is the third day Iran and Israel have been firing missiles at each other. Iran says oil depots have been hit, but that damage is under control. Israel is trying to prevent Iran from building a nuclear bomb.
Starting point is 00:01:01 Some expect the conflict to take over the G7 summit that begins Sunday in Kenanaskis, Alberta, while nuclear talks that were supposed to happen Sunday between the U.S. and Iran have been scuttled. U.S. President Donald Trump marked his 79th birthday Saturday and he's got something he's wanted for years, a parade of military might through the streets of Washington, which also marks the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary. Sasha Petrusik has more. To the soundtrack of marching bands and the rumble of fighting machines, Washington flexed its military might.
Starting point is 00:01:36 It was exactly the celebration of the U.S. military President Donald Trump has been asking for. Every other country celebrates their victories. It's about time America did too. There were 7,000 troops and millions of tons of armour, state-of-the-art tanks and ominous sounding helicopters under Washington's dark clouds. The Americans who lined the route were enthralled.
Starting point is 00:02:02 President Trump's been the best president that this country's ever had. This parade is long overdue. But for many others across the U.S., watching troops deployed to Los Angeles, it's a symbol of the militarization of the Trump White House. Sasha Petrusik, CBC News, Washington. In reaction to that parade, anti-Trump protests were held in more than a thousand U.S. towns and cities, including outside his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. No ICE!
Starting point is 00:02:29 No KKK! No fascist USA! It's being called the No Kings protest, one of the biggest public displays of opposition to Trump since he returned to power in January. Indian government officials have ordered inspections of Air India's entire fleet of Boeing 787 following Thursday's crash. We also felt that there is a need to do an extended surveillance into the Boeing 787 series. So from the DGCA we have also given an order to do the extended surveillance for the 787 planes. There are 34 in our Indian aircraft fleet today.
Starting point is 00:03:05 The job of identifying the victims, both from the plane and on the ground, continues with the use of dental records and DNA testing. So far, only 11 have been identified. Former Federal Minister Pablo Rodriguez has been chosen as the new leader of the Quebec Liberal Party. Quebec Liberals faced two resounding election defeats in the 2018 and 2022 provincial elections. Rodriguez says a new enter era is starting for the Quebec Liberal Party and the province. Most Albertans will soon be required to pay out of pocket for COVID-19 vaccinations. The province has decided it will only cover the cost for people at a higher risk of serious outcomes. Emily Williams reports. Albertans will have to foot the bill for COVID vaccinations starting this fall.
