Iran says its latest wave of attacks on Israel will continue until dawn. The two nations are exchanging rocket fire for another night. Officials in Tehran say more than 200 Iranians have been killed since fighting began, most of them civilians. In the meantime, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country controls the skies over Tehran.

The fresh Israeli airstrikes targeted state TV headquarters in Tehran, and the Israeli military is warning hundreds of thousands of Tehran residents to move out of harm's way. U.S. President Donald Trump will be leaving the G7 summit early. Trump's saying he's returning to Washington because of what's going on in the Middle East. The CBC's Murray Brewster is covering the G7 in Alberta. Well, in a social media post, Carolyn Levitt, Trump's press secretary, said that he's needed
Starting point is 00:01:34 back in Washington to address what's going on in the Middle East. Obviously, a reference to what's going on between Iran and Israel. Now, what's interesting is just an hour before his departure was announced, Trump was out with the UK Prime Minister celebrating their trade deal, and he was asked about G7 leaders' plans to call for de-escalation. Have you spoken to Prime Minister Netanyahu? When might you speak to him?
Starting point is 00:02:00 I've spoken to everybody. What will you say? Israel is doing very well, as you probably noticed. Now, French President Emmanuel Macron filled in some of the blanks for us a little bit later on, and he is saying that the U.S. has made an offer for a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. That offer is to meet, and it is intended to get a ceasefire in place so that there can be a broader discussion about Iran's nuclear program. On Monday, the U.S. president met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, but few details of that meeting have been made public. Katie Simpson explains. Starting point is 00:02:53 unpredictable US president donald trump Reporters were invited into a small meeting room on the sidelines of the summit after the leaders met privately for about 30 minutes I'm a tariff person despite Trump's commitment to to tariffs, the Prime Minister's office says both leaders agreed to pursue negotiations toward a deal within the coming 30 days, a statement that matches Trump's optimism. Starting point is 00:03:23 Carney and the Canadians clearly wanted to keep the public portion of this meeting brief. Just I'm going to exercise my role if you will as a G7 territory. Ottawa is promoting domestic tourism by making Canada's historic sites, national parks and marine conservation areas free to visit. The federal government calls it the Canada Strong Pass, and it's meant to promote Canadian tourism in the midst of the ongoing Canada-U.S. trade war.

Quebec provincial police are asking for the public's help as they continue their search for a missing three-year-old girl. They're focusing their search for Claire Bell in the town of Coteau-du-Lac.
