Starting point is 00:00:40 u.s president donald trump and russian president vladimir putin the two leaders will meet in alaska on friday for talks about ending puttin's war on ukraine but as mike crawley reports from washington ukraine and its european allies are worried they're being sidelined the alaska summit on Friday will be Russian President Vladimir Putin's first face-to-face meeting with a major Western leader since he started the war in Ukraine. This is President Trump making sure that Putin is serious. The Secretary General of NATO, Mark Ruta, is praising Donald Trump for getting Putin to the table and downplaying concerns that the U.S. president will offer Russia concessions that are unacceptable to Ukraine. It is crucial to know that Ukraine itself deciding of what they want to do or not want to do
Starting point is 00:01:26 in terms of a peace deal. What Kyiv and its European allies fear is a deal that rewards Putin with the large parts of eastern Ukraine now occupied by Russian forces. If you take where the current line of contact between Russia and Ukraine is, we're going to try to find some negotiated settlement that the Ukrainians and the Russians can live with. Two Atlantic provinces with tender dry forests and active wildfires are ordering people to stay out of the woods. New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are restricting recreational travel, hiking, camping, and ATV use. But as Alexander Silberman tells us, some people are pushing back. We must do everything possible to protect each other. Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston, ordering residents of his province to stay out of the woods or face a $25,000 fine. Houston says the strict measures are the price to pay to avoid devastating wild fire. Get out of the woods and stay out of the woods. Premier Susan Holt is urging people to be

Julissa Stewart can't take her dog for a walk on a trail near her home. Stewart is trying to launch a charter challenge, but fire officials argue the measures are necessary. A 17-year rustler from Chester, Nova Scotia will be competing at the Canada Games in St. John's while wearing a hijab. Shahat al-Lush will wear the scarf worn by some Muslim women that covers their hair, neck, and ears as a symbol of their faith. She says, wearing a hijab while wrestling is a challenge because few referees are familiar with how to deal with it. She recalls a match where an opponent accidentally tucked at her hijab,
Starting point is 00:04:12 leaving her shaken. My opponent was trying to take off my hijab, and I was really uncomfortable. I totally forgot how to wrestle because knowing the fact that someone is trying to take off your hijab, It's like same as me trying to take off her singlet. But my coach came up with the idea, like, just to let the rest know or just, like, let the opponent know about my hijab situation.
