Environment Canada is warning, daytime highs could reach 35 degrees Celsius in some parts. and the humidity can make it feel closer to 40 degrees. It's recommending people drink water in these conditions and keep a close eye out for signs of heat exhaustion. Australia is joining a growing list of nations

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to discuss paths to ending the war later this week in Alaska. But the EU says any ceasefire talks must include Ukraine. Crystal Gamansing reports from London. Simon MacDonald, the former head of the UK Foreign Office, warns the world should brace for the meeting between President's Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. He is going to ask for things that nobody else would concede,

Today, EU foreign ministers are meeting virtually. Radik Zikorsky is Poland's foreign minister. We all want peace, but it has to be a fair one. Since Putin launched his full-scale invasion of Ukraine,
Starting point is 00:03:17 there's been no indication he's willing to give up on his war aims of permanently taking Ukrainian territory. Ukraine's president says they will not give up any. territory land they've been defending with their lives. Constitutionally, it would need to be put to a vote for Ukrainians to approve. Crystal Gamanscing, CBC News, London. Air travelers may see picketing flight attendants today at airports in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Last week, Air Canada flight attendants voted overwhelmingly. in favor of a strike mandate. They could walk off the job as early as August 16th. A Regina couple has developed an app to support people on the road to addiction recovery. It's called Alchemist I, offering a library of content from guided mediation to personal
Starting point is 00:04:14 stories from people in active recovery. The app was created by CEO Adam Geiger with C.O. and partner, Chelsea Galloway, both of whom have faced addiction themselves. What happens when you exchange relapse with just that five minutes of mindful reflection? You can really change everything because, as we know, when relapse happens, it can be long-lasting and pretty destructive. So, yeah, we really just wanted to build something that was that daily companion that lives in your pocket. The app has already seen close to 6,000 downloads. And that is your world this hour.
