Air Canada says it will soon start winding down service,
canceling flights and issuing refunds
after the union representing 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants
issued a strike notice overnight.
They planned to walk off the job this weekend.
Anis Adari reports.

The goal here is not to issue strike notice and sit around for 72 hours.
Wesley Lissoski is the president of QP's Air Canada component.
He says Air Canada didn't come to the table with additional money after the last offers and
counteroffers were rejected.
We also need to bargain a collective agreement.
Air Canada said it is offering to now pay, at least partly, for hours worked before and
after flights.
In the days leading up to this strike notice, the year.
Union said the offers didn't keep up with inflation. As for Air Canada passengers who are worried
they won't have a flight to catch, they could be moved to another airline. And he said R.CBC News,

And a lack of rain is causing problems for crews battling wildfires right across the Atlantic provinces.

Today, a team of Nova Scotia firefighters are waking up here in New Brunswick ready to help battle a pair of stubborn wildfires.
They're part of the close cooperation we've seen this past week between East Coast provinces.
Right now, the fire outside Moncton is smaller than in recent days down to 45 hectares.
Meanwhile, in Miramashie, that fire has grown to more than 1,100 hectares and has nearby residents on alert ready for a possible evacuation.
It comes a day after a fire ignited near.
Halifax's busy Bayers Lake Shopping Center. Water bombers flew in from New Brunswick to try to knock
down the flames. That fire is still considered out of control, but is now down to around 25 hectares in
size. All of this under ongoing historic heat and dangerous dryness. Today, communities across the
maritimes will again be sharing both resources and the hope for rain in the forecast.

push forward with expanded operations in Gaza despite opposition to the plan. The idea to take
control of Gaza City comes as a new round of ceasefire negotiations begins in Egypt. Susan Ormiston
reports from Jerusalem. Israel's Prime Minister says Palestinians would be allowed to leave Gaza
before a military escalation, but rejects criticism. He's pushing them out. Benjamin Netanyahu
made his remarks in a television interview Tuesday night. Talks have restored.
started in Cairo to try to revive a ceasefire plan and a delegation from Hamas is in the capital,
says Egypt's foreign minister.
Our main objective is to go back to the original proposal to have a ceasefire for 60 days.
Neither Hamas nor Israel is commenting on the prospects for any deal.
This morning, a clash between the government and the chief of Israel's defense force appeared to be
growing.
Ayal Zamir reportedly told generals that Netanyahu's family had marked him.
supporters of the prime minister wanted him out.
Defense minister, Israel Kat, said his conduct harms the military,
and in a statement cautioned all the critics and moral preachers opposing the war.
