Air Canada will be grounding flights today.
The move is in preparation for a potential lockout or flight attendants strike this weekend.
Mark Nasser is Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for the airline.
A first set of cancellations that were processed this morning,
affecting largely long-haul international flights due to depart tonight,
providing as much advanced notice as we can to customers,
and the cancellations will proceed and grow in magnitude.
Nasser says Air Canada still wants to reach a deal,
but QP, who represents the flight attendant,
says the airline hasn't shown up to the bargaining table.

The union says it's tabled its most recent proposal to air Canada Tuesday night.
Over 100,000 customers are expected to be affected by the cancellations.
Ontario is ordering the province's public workers back to the office.
Currently, the provincial government employees are mandated to be in their offices at least
three days a week. That will increase to four days starting this fall and full time in January.
Move follows a similar announcement by Canada's Big Four Big Banks, rather, last month.
Out-of-control wildfires are threatening communities across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Tens of thousands of people remain on high alert as fire crews struggle to suppress the flames.

I mean, we've had 11 fires over the last three months, so everybody is thinking in our case that
somebody is setting. Higher humidity in the St. John's area has meant decreased fire activity.
Officials hoping the blaze just outside the city will soon be under control.

that pressure must be applied to Russia in order to achieve lasting peace.
