The airline says its latest offer would have made its flight attendants the best compensated in Canada. Some say employers like Air Canada have become too reliant on the federal government
Starting point is 00:01:14 to settle contract disputes. Well, I think this is the chickens coming home to roost. Air Canada has taken, and other employers federally regulated as well, have really taken advantage of trying to pressure governments and governments conceding to their demand to order people back to work. In a statement to CBC News, Patty Haidu's office told us that, like many Canadians, the minister is monitoring the situation closely and referred us to the Canada Industrial Relations Board, which did not get back to us with a comment.

U.S. Special Envoy, Steve Whitkoff, says Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to allow U.S. and European allies to offer a security guarantee to Ukraine. Cameron McIntosh has more. We have to stop the killings. That is the stark choice facing Ukrainian President Vlodemir Zelensky when he meets U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday. You don't have the cards.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Famously berated on his last trip, this time he's not going alone. The leaders of the UK, Germany, Italy, France, Finland, the European Commission, and NATO will be with him. All meeting virtually preparing to present a unified front. We had an extremely productive meeting. Trump, after his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday, told them Putin wants Ukraine's occupied Dombas region. Zelensky insists Ukraine won't give it up and wants Trump to guarantee Ukraine's security and independence. This is our main task. need security to work in practice like Article 5 of NATO.

Starting point is 00:03:35 In Nova Scotia, there are 15 wildfires that continue to burn. However, only one remains out of control and is threatening homes. That's the Long Lake Fire in Annapolis Valley. Andrew Samson has the latest. The Long Lake Wildfire is showing no signs of letting up. It's expected to grow even larger. Four air tankers, two helicopters, and more than 100 firefighters are on the scene. But Jim Rutterham, the director of fleet and forest protection for Nova Scotes' Department of Natural Resources, says the weather is not cooperating. Today is very low humidity and wind and warm, and it's everything we don't need for helping us put out fires. More than 100 homes have already been evacuated, and officials say that number might grow. Scott Tingley, manager of forest protection,
Starting point is 00:04:20 says the fire is still a couple of kilometers away, but crews are on standby. They are on high alert there, where everybody's ready and prepared for what might happen. Evacquees have been out of their homes since Thursday. Many of them are staying with family or friends, and some are even camping. Showers are in the forecast, but it's been so dry for so long
