from cbc news the world is sour i'm neil kumar prime minister mark carney has announced that canada will remove

as the federal government works with the u.s to craft a new trading relationship olivia stevanovanovitch
has more from ottawa the prime minister emerged on a quiet summer
day in Ottawa to jolt the country with major economic news. Canada and the United States have
re-established free trade for the vast majority of our goods. Starting September 1st, Canada will scrap
the 25% counter-tariffs it placed on American goods covered by the North American free trade deal,
a gesture in the hopes it will reset the relationship with the U.S. Do you have any assurances from the
Americans that this will kickstart negotiations. Did President Trump specifically say that in his
conversation with you? Yes. He's removing his retaliatory tariffs, which I thought was nice.
The two leaders discussed the move on Thursday. Their first one-on-one call since blowing past
Donald Trump's August 1st trade deal deadline. Oliver Estefanovich, CBC News, Ottawa.
Manitoba's premiers criticizing Ottawa for dropping the counter tariffs on U.S. goods.
Wap Knew says this latest move caught him.
by surprise and that he isn't a fan.
Is this elbows down?
I think Canadians want to see a stronger response to Donald Trump.
And we've taken actions as a province to support business,
to take American liquor off the shelves, to repatriate energy.
I'm not sure that taking these steps that the Prime Minister announced
is the right move at this time.
Kano would prefer to see the feds remove duties from Chinese EVs.
in the hopes that Beijing would live feasts on Canola.
Carney says Canada is not letting its guard down
and lightens the tactic to hockey,
saying players don't always need to have their elbows up.
Lyle Menendez, one of the two brothers,
convicted for the 1989 fatal shooting of their parents in Beverly Hills,
has been denied parole by a California review board.
The denial marks a significant development in the decades-long case.
Lyle, who's now 57 years old,
has spent more than 30 years behind bars.
His brother, Eric, was denied parole on Thursday.
The FBI has carried out raids at the home and office of former Trump administration national security adviser, John Bolton.
It's being suggested that the search is part of an investigation into the handling of classified documents.
Bolton served during Donald Trump's first term in office.
However, he's since become a vocal critic of the president.
The road to the Canada Games involves hard work, talent, and skill.
For two members of Nova Scotia's men's softball team, it's also involved fighting for their lives to make it to Canada's largest multi-sport event in St.
Johns. Elizabeth Chu has more on this story.
19-year-old Ty Campbell steps on to a softball field at the Canada Games in St. John's.
For the co-captain of Nova Scotia's men's team, this dream come true almost didn't happen after a
medical emergency in December.
I was diagnosed with brain aneurysm. I had a stroke. I'm still not 100% today, but I'm
definitely very, very happy where I am, I'm able to play. The goal, making it to St. John's,
is shared by Garth Parenthood.
G, as he's affectionately known by the players,
was the head coach until early May.
He had to give up the job
after contracting a dangerous infection
in his spine and arm.
He was recently released from hospital in Halifax
just in time to root for the team.
Blessed, I guess, to be here.
Nova Scotia is the defending silver medalist.
