sunday where he detailed canada's two billion dollars of additional aid to the military

from keef ukraine's destiny at a press conference mark carney said that if there is a ceasefire in
Ukraine, Canada would step up as part of the so-called coalition of the willing.
But the prospects for a quick truce appeared dim.
U.S. President Donald Trump might have received a momento from his summit with Vladimir Putin,
but Russia's leader has given little else.
Given that Russia has rejected the idea of a NATO-backed security guarantee and European
forces on the ground, what actually do you think the chances are of a ceasefire?
We need a cessation of hostilities.
ceasefire, but it's not the choice of Russia, how the future sovereignty, independence, liberty
of Ukraine is guaranteed. If there is a peacekeeping mission, the U.S. has said that its troops
will not take part, but a few European nations have said that they would be willing to send
peacekeepers in. Russia has said that it would view NATO forces or those from Europe on the
ground in Ukraine as a non-starter. Ryers-Stewart, CBC News, Kiev.
Prime Minister Mark Carney will now make his way to Poland on his European trip, where he'll hold
bilateral talks with the Polish Prime Minister before heading to Germany. Evan Dyer tells us more from
Warsaw. Prime Minister Carney will be here in Warsaw to meet with the President and Prime Minister of Poland,
a country that's become increasingly important to Canada over the last decade or so. It has one of the
biggest militaries in Europe. And of course, this is also the place where Canadian forces train
their Ukrainian counterparts under Operation Unifier. And Canada is hoping to deepen its trade ties to
Poland with a focus on defense and aerospace. And trade and defense are also a big part of the next
leg of the trip, which is in Germany. And there we're going to see Prime Minister Carney
tour the TKMS submarine building plant. That's a company that is one of the contenders to build
a dozen submarines for Canada. And then finally, the trip will wrap on Wednesday with a visit
to the 2000 Canadian troops who are stationed in Latvia, serving there as part of Operation
Reassurance close to the Russian border. Evan Dyer, CBC News, Warsaw.
In Alberta, Premier Danielle Smith says
Albertans are entitled to use
reasonable force to defend themselves on their
properties and shouldn't face criminal charges
for it. Smith was speaking about the
incident of a man in Ontario, who
was recently charged for allegedly using a knife to attack
a home intruder. Well, if you don't want to get
shot or beaten up, don't break into people's houses.
Smith says Alberta saw a similar
case a few years ago.
Canadian golf star, Brooke Henderson, has
captured her second CPKC
women's open title on home soil.
As Ed Clyman reports, she's now
accomplished the feat twice in seven years.
In a tense and well-played one-on-one battle with Australian Mingey Lee,
the pivotal moment for Brooke Henderson came on the 17th hole,
where she arrived with a one-shot lead.
Lee drained a 12-foot birdie to momentarily draw even.
But the native of Smith Falls, Ontario was unfazed.
She calmly made her own 10-foot birdie to regain her slender lead.
After both players parred the final hole,
Henderson had clinched her first win on the LPGA tour
in more than two and a half years.
It's been an amazing week, and this year has not gone very well up to this point,
and it just feels like this was meant to be.
I felt like I got a lot of breaks out there and this week,
and I just felt like, yeah, it was meant to be.
Henderson became the first Canadian woman to ever win two Canadian open titles
and the 42nd player in the history of women's golf to record 14 or more career victories.
Ed Kleiman for CBC News, Mississauga,
Ontario.
It took more than 15 years, and now Oasis is back on stage.
The band played the first of two shows at Rogers Center in Toronto tonight, which are the only Canadian stops on the tour.
And that is your world this hour.
For CBC News, I'm Neil Kumar.
Thank you.
