The Iranian government directed at least two and likely more attacks on Jewish interests in Australia. Our painstaking investigation uncovered and unpicked the links between the alleged crimes and the commanders in Iran's Islamic Revolutionally Guard Corps. As a result, Australia is expelling the Iranian ambassador from its country. Australia has also

There's a new development in the growing fight between U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. Federal Reserve. Trump says he has fired one of the seven governors on the board of the U.S. Central Bank. In a letter posted on his truth social platform,
Starting point is 00:01:48 Trump says he's firing Lisa Cook because of allegations that she committed mortgage fraud. Trump has criticized the Fed for not cutting interest rates as quickly as he would like. The American Central Bank is supposed to operate independently when it comes to monetary policy, although the Fed chair and governors are appointed by the president. Meantime, Cook is swinging back at Trump. In a statement, she says he has no authority to fire her, and she will not resign.
Starting point is 00:02:18 A new federal program meant to help low-income Canadians with disabilities is off to a rocky start. Payments for the Canada Disability Benefit started going up. out in July. But in just the second month, a technical glitch kept many recipients from getting the money on time. Ben Andrews has more. You've reached the Canada Disability Benefit Call Center. An automated message greets callers. A limited number of client payments remain outstanding. Many wondering what happened to an August payment that hasn't showed up in their account. John Reddens is one of them. He's eligible for money from the Canada Disability Benefit. The program pays up to $200 per month. Every dollar helps.
Starting point is 00:03:01 The House of Commons passed the benefit in 2023. Money started going out this July, but already Redens says his August payment was delayed. He had earmarked the money to cover an expense. For this money not to show up into their account is a huge disappointment. Rabia Khadar is with Advocacy Group Disability Without Poverty. She says many people were affected by a technical glitch and need reassurances after the breach and trust. Employment and Social Development Canada confirmed some payments remain outstanding.

Police in Toronto are searching for a man in his 20s who fell off a rental jet ski Sunday evening. The incident happened in the east end of Scarborough, and it's raising concerns about jet skis, with some calling for more regulation on rentals. Tyler Cheese reports. Toronto police say the city's marine unit had been called Sunday evening,
Starting point is 00:03:58 After two people fell off a rented jet ski, only one had a life jacket. Raj Mehta owns Jetty, a rental company operating in Toronto's West End. The industry is mostly unregulated. There's really nothing stopping you from going out, buying a couple jet skis, calling yourself a rental company, and start renting out to the public. Under Transport Canada Regulations, using a privately owned personal watercraft above 10 horsepower requires the driver to be at least 16 years old and have a boating license. But for rentals, drivers only need to complete a rental. boat safety checklist. Brad Bradford, a Toronto City Councilor, agrees more regulation is needed. But he says the bigger issue is an increase in companies operating illegally without licenses.
Starting point is 00:04:39 I think we need to strengthen the deterrent factors.
