children officials say the attack happened during morning mass marking the first week of school
when a gunman started firing a rifle through church windows the city's mayor jacob fray
says the families of the victims are suffering an immense pain
These are kids that should be learning with their friends.
They should be playing on the playground.
They should be able to go to school or church in peace without the fear or risk of violence
and their parents should have the same kind of assurance.
These are the sort of basic assurances that every family should have, every step of the day,
regardless of where they are in our country.
Officials say the suspected shooter was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a pistol.
He was in his early 20s and took his own life shortly after.
Denmark's foreign minister is summoning the U.S. ambassador.
The country is launching a protest amid allegations the Trump administration has been carrying out covert operations in Greenland.
Dominic Volitus has the story.
Citing unnamed sources, Denmark's public broadcaster, DR, claims at least three Americans with ties to the Trump administration
are suspected of conducting covert operations in Greenland.
The broadcaster claims they face a number of allegations,
including making lists of Greenlanders' opinions towards U.S. President Donald Trump's plans
to take over the mineral-rich and strategically important semi-autonomous territory.
Greenland! Not for sale!
Trump's ambitions to take control of Greenland, potentially even by force,
sparked protests in Denmark and beyond.
The Danish foreign minister has now summoned the U.S. charged affair in Copenhagen over today's claims,
telling journalists any attempts to interfere in the kingdom's internal affairs would be unacceptable.
The U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen has not responded to the allegations.

Prime Minister Mark Carney visited Canadian troops stationed in Latvia at the conclusion of his four-day trip to Europe.
If we're going to defend and advance our values of freedom of democracy and peace, Canada must do so from a position of strength.
Some 2,200 Canadian troops are in Latvia as part of Operation Reassurance.
It's an ongoing NATO mission to deter further Russian aggression in Europe.
Carney has announced it as being extended until at least 2029.
Conservative leader Pierre Polyev is demanding that Ottawa drop its clean fuel standards,
but Polyev says people struggling with affordability can't afford the regulations.
Olivia Stefanovic reports.
We are making it a priority to boost take-home pay and reverse the liberal cost of living crisis
by opposing Mark Carney's carbon tax 2.0.
Even though the liberals scrap the consumer carbon pricing system,
conservative leader Pierre Polyev still will.
wants to campaign against it.
So we need to get rid of the carbon taxes altogether, make our lives affordable again.
Poliyev is now attacking the federal clean fuel regulations, calling them the second carbon
tax. The standards were introduced a few years ago to reduce carbon emissions, but the
parliamentary budget officer estimates that by 2030, the price of gas will increase by 17 cents
per leader, Polyev says Canadians can't afford that. And the conservative leader is
trying to convince the federal government to dismantle the regulations altogether.
