from cbc news the world this hour i'm mike miles an evacuation order has been issued for fort providence
in the northwest territories a wildfire burning about two kilometers north of the community grew
overnight fanned by severe winds and a forecast shift in those winds could drive it toward the town
on top of that the highway north towards yellow knife is closed because of smoky conditions so residents
will have to head south and the wildfire situation in northwest saskatchewan
is flaring up again. Properties west of Il Alacross, about 400, excuse me, about 450 kinleaders
northwest of Saskatoon, and campsites in South Bay War Veterans Park are both under evacuation orders.
A stretch of Highway 155 is closed because the fire is crossing the road. The junction of
Highway 165 and 914 are closed for the same reason. The Public Safety Agency says the heat dome
has caused the fires to flare up. Major world leaders are in China today for a summit of the
Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Among those attending are Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister
Narendra Modi.
