Starting point is 00:00:26 Certain conditions apply. from cbc news the world this hour i'm mike miles an evacuation order is now in effect for fort providence in the northwest territories with a fast-moving wildfire burning about two kilometers away an expected shift in the wind direction could drive the flames toward the hamlet our forecast weather is winds from the south through much of the day changing to north by late afternoon to early evening this is our troublesome wind that's the type of wind that would put the fire towards the community. There is a risk that the fire does reach the community by this evening. Structure protection teams are in Fort Providence working to protect homes and critical
Starting point is 00:01:10 infrastructure. Another fire force of the evacuation of Wati yesterday, firefighters say they've had favorable winds for the last 24 hours. The fire is grown, but it's moving away from Wattie. And in Nova Scotia, officials say the Long Lake Fire in the Annapolis Valley is still burning out of control, but no more damage has been reported and favorable weather. is helping crews make progress on containing the fire. It's taken more than a month, but the devastating Kingston Fire in Conception Bay, Newfoundland is now under control, and the last evacuation alerts in the area were lifted yesterday. The fire destroyed nearly 200 structures in several communities.
Starting point is 00:01:47 China is hosting a number of world leaders today at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a regional security summit meant to counter a number of similar Western organizations. Julia Chapman has more. China has rolled out the red carpet for members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or the SCO. Leaders of Russia, India, Pakistan, Iran and several other countries are gathering in Tianjin. The SCO was formed in 2001. It's an informal grouping focused on security and economic ties. And its members often use these events to air grievances about the West.
Starting point is 00:02:25 The overriding theme this year, tariffs. On Wednesday, the U.S. hit India with 50% tariffs, punishment for buying Russian oil. Today, China's Xi Jinping and India's Narendra Modi sat down for a rare meeting. Beijing and New Delhi have a tense relationship because of border disputes. Starting point is 00:02:58 A crowd ringing bells and cheering as Greta Toonberg and a group of prominent pro-Palestinian activists set sail for Gaza today, hoping to break Israel's blockade of the occupied territory. The Israeli government says the aid ship is a prop-gaganda stunt to support Hamas, something Toonberg denies. This story is not at all about the mission that we are about to embark. Starting point is 00:03:28 is how people are being deliberately deprived of the very basic means to survive. This isn't the group's first attempt. Toonberg was arrested by the Israeli Navy in June for attempting the same voyage. U.S. President Donald Trump's trade advisor, Peter Navarro, doesn't like that a federal appeals court ruled most of Trump's tariffs unconstitutional. But speaking to Fox News, Navarro says they're not too worried. The court delayed the imposition of the ruling until October 14th pending an appeal to the Supreme Court, meaning for now a 35 percent tariff on Canadian goods not covered by the Kisman Trade Agreement stays in place. In Australia, thousands of anti-migrant protesters clashed with counter-protesters in the streets of Melbourne. Ozzy! Roy! Police used pepper spray to break up fights. Large antique migrant rallies were held in cities across the country. The Australian government denounced the protest,
