All right, look, I am not going to lie to you.
I love when an album drops, and it just, I know it's going to define my entire summer.
And that is how I'm feeling about this new Lord album.
My name is Alameen Abdul-Mahmood.
I host a show called Commotion, and that is where we talk about the biggest stories in entertainment and pop culture, like this new Lord album or the Haim album or whatever great new music is defining our soundtrack for the summer.
Come hang with us.

From CBC News, the world this hour. I'm Kate McGilfrey.
We begin with breaking news from Manitoba.
Two people are dead and at least six others wounded in a stabbing incident in hollow water First Nation.
That's about 200 kilometers northeast of Winnipeg.
The wounded were transported to a hospital in Winnipeg.
RCMP say multiple detachments responded to a serious incident early this morning.
They say the suspect is dead and there is no risk to public safety.
safety right now. A stretch of Highway 304 is closed as this investigation continues, and we will
have more on this as soon as we have more information. Mark Carney's cabinet is on its second day of
meetings at a cabinet retreat in Toronto. Industry Minister Melanie Jolie says the federal government
is focused on the economy by protecting existing jobs and creating new ones with new projects.
We need to invest in housing, and we will be coming up with a list of major projects in the coming
weeks. We're investing more in defense. Well, we've increased the salaries and the benefits of
our Canadian enforcement as well. We need to make sure that we're building back capacity,
industrial capacity, in Canada. Those investments are coming at a price. Finance Minister
Francois Philippe Champagne is warning of tough choices ahead. He says the government's fall budget
will contain austerity measures as well as some spending. Statistics Canada says exports to the U.S.
again last month, despite Trump tariffs. Peter Armstrong breaks down those numbers.
The Canadian economy is showing some remarkable resiliency. Total exports are up. This is the third
consecutive monthly increase we've seen. And if you scale out over the year, through the first
seven months of 2025, exports are up 1% compared to last year. Now, month-to-month exports to
the United States, those were up 5% in July, largely driven by crude oil.
and passenger cars. But over that same seven-month period to start the year, U.S. total exports
through that period are down 2.9%. Now, it's safe to say the reason it's been so resilient is
largely due to those vast exemptions for QSMA compliant products. 90% of what Canadian
sell to the U.S. is tariff-free, at least for now. And that is why those U.S.-Canada negotiations
are so important.
Peter Armstrong, CBC News, Toronto.
Lesbans mayor says all of the city's funiculars are closed,
while authorities investigate the deadly crash that killed 16 people yesterday.
Many people were also injured, including one Canadian.
The nearly 150-year-old tram is a popular tourist attraction in the city's downtown.
The company operating it says finicular's had been operating correctly,
and that maintenance costs have.
had doubled in the past decade. It says the findings of an internal investigation into yesterday's
crash will be released soon. U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took a grilling from
Democrats on Capitol Hill today on the recent turmoil at federal health agencies. Since taking the
job, Kennedy has restricted those eligible for COVID shots and has fired all 17 expert members
of a CDC vaccine advisory panel. Senator Michael Bennett pressed Kennedy on his vaccine policy
overhaul. I'm asking the questions for Mr. Kennedy on behalf of parents and schools and teachers
all over the United States of America who deserve so much better than your leadership. That's what
this conversation is about. Senator, they deserve the truth and that's what we're going to give
them for the first time. Kennedy also defended his recent ousting of the CDC director. He says he might
need to fire even more people at that agency.
And Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died.
Armani launched his own fashion line in 1975,
and he eventually created a multi-billion dollar empire
that extended to perfume, music, sport, and luxury hotels.
Armani is credited with pioneering red carpet fashion
and is considered among the most successful Italian designers of all time,
Giorgio Armani was 91.
