Starting point is 00:01:00 All the right steps were taken, including multiple reviews, site walks, and coordination with first responders. The report makes recommendations to prevent any sort of repeat, including making safety a core objective for outdoor events. It also advocates for standardized safety planning and developing clear guidelines for preventing vehicle attacks. A woman killed in a mass stabbing in a Manitoba First Nation today was the sister of the suspect.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Another seven people were injured, as details emerge from Hollow Water First Nation. Cameron McIntosh has the latest. The community is all shaken up from it. Christy Williams says her father was one of eight people injured in the early morning stabbing attack. His door was kicking into, he was sleeping in his bed. RCMP say 26-year-old Tyrone Samard stabbed at least eight people in Hollow Water First Nation, including his 18-year-old sister who died.
Starting point is 00:01:52 Samard was also killed as he fled in a stolen vehicle and collided with an RCMP SUV. An officer was taken to hospital with critical but non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP Assistant Commissioner Scott McMurchy. Without any doubt, she put her life at risk for the safety and security of Manitobans. The motive for the attack is not clear. And William says it's left the community shaken. It's not something that happens in Hollow Water. Like, Hollow Water isn't about this. This isn't hollow water.
Starting point is 00:02:22 Cameron McIntosh, CBC News, Winnipeg. French President Emmanuel Macron says 26 countries, have pledged to deploy troops to Ukraine as a reassurance force once the fighting with Russia ends. He hosted a virtual meeting of 30 world leaders, including Prime Minister Mark Carney, who said Canada will provide military assistance but gave no specifics. Russia has said foreign troops inside Ukraine would be unacceptable, but NATO Secretary General Mark Ruta says it doesn't matter what Russia wants. Why are we interested in what Russia thinks about troops in Ukraine?
Starting point is 00:02:55 Russia has nothing to do with this. Ukraine is a sovereign nation. If Ukraine wants to have security guarantee forces in Ukraine to support the peace, it's up to them. Nobody else can decide about it. And I think we really have to stop making Putin too powerful. European leaders at the meeting said Russia's only role is to stop fighting. America's top health official Robert F. Kennedy Jr. defended his actions at a combative Senate hearing in Washington. He was grilled on changing vaccine policies with no scientific evidence to back it up, and recent dismissals, rather, and resignations at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Chris Reyes says more.

How many preventable child deaths are an acceptable sacrifice for enacting an agenda that I think is fundamentally cruel and defies common sense? The combative hearing lasted more than three hours, with the secretary standing his ground. Chris Reyes, CBC News, New York. New Brunswick has reached a tentative agreement with the province's nurses union, which represents more than 9,000 registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and licensed practical nurses.
