Children were transferred to private residences, other airports. There's been no response yet from RCMP or the CBSA to Bondi's claims. charges have now been laid in this week's raid of a decommissioned school in Richmound, Saskatchewan. Self-proclaimed Queen of Canada Romana-Didulo and site owner Ricky Manns were arrested Thursday. Our CMPs say they violated a condition of their release that they not contact each other. They're also accused of intimidating a person in the case. Both have court appearances scheduled for Friday morning. Starting point is 00:01:55 and a fall budget. Tom Perry reports. What our government is really focused right now is obviously on the economy. Industry Minister Melanie Jolie repeating a pledge to build Canada's economy by investing in infrastructure, defense and housing. That's been one focus at this cabinet meeting, the other the upcoming federal budget, which finance minister Francois Philippe Champagne says will require some difficult choices. I want to be straight with Canadians. Tough choices ahead, but ambition when it comes to investment, rigor when it comes to spending.
Starting point is 00:02:25 The opposition leader Pierre Palliev dismisses all of it as empty talk and paints a colorful image of what he sees as bloated government spending. The government has become a big fat man, and the private sector is a skinny man carrying that fat man up an increasingly steep hill. A preview, perhaps, of what Canadians can expect when Parliament resumes later this month. Tom Perry, CBC News, Toronto. Portuguese authorities have identified eight of the 16 people killed in Wednesday streetcar crash, and they say there is a high possibility that remaining victims include two Canadians. Canada's Global Affairs says it's in contact with Portuguese officials to gather more information. Another Canadian is among the injured.
Starting point is 00:03:08 The city of Vancouver has presented its final recommendations on the car ramming that killed 11 people during the Filipino Lapu Lapu Day Festival in April. Officials say events will be playing differently from now on, but there's only so much they can do. Georgie Smyth reports. Recommendations included developing a framework to more robustly prevent cars from entering event spaces and allocating more money to event safety, but there was also a difficult acknowledgement by Mayor Ken Sim. Let's say we protected every single event with cars. There's going to be another item in the future.
Starting point is 00:03:44 And so we're not going to solve anything unless we get to the mental health aspect of these issues and the root cause of these issues. 11 people died when a car rammed through the block festival in April right as it was about to finish. The city's report restated that the Lapu-Lapu-Lapid event met all the requirements for event planning and there was no reason to suggest festival goers were at risk. Kaiji Adam Lowe is accused of driving the SUV and faces 11 counts of second-degree murder. A ruling on his fitness to stand trial is expected next week. Georgie Smyth, CBC News, Vancouver. A member of the Canadian Armed Forces has gone missing in Latvia.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Warrant Officer George Hull was deployed on Operation Reassurance, currently Canada's largest overseas mission. It's part of NATO's defense measures in Europe launched following Russia's invasion of Crimea in 2014. The military says Hull was last seen on Tuesday in the town of Adagyi.
