Ukraine is on edge after Russia launched its largest air assault of the war.
Drone and missiles hit dozens of targets, killing at least four people.
J.P. Tasker has more on the scale of the bombardment.
Russia has unleashed its largest ever drone assault of the war,
blowing out critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
Kiev was also pummeled by the Russian war machine.
More than a dozen missiles and some 800 drones
raining down destruction on the capital city.
That familiar sound of air raid sirens
sent residents scrambling for safety.
Civilians did not escape unscathed.
At least three are dead, including an infant.
Twenty more people were injured.
After a Russian drone hit an apartment building,
U.S. President Donald Trump may be answering the call to do more soon,
telling reporters he's ready to hit Russia with more sanctions
as his push for peace falls flat.
J.P. Tasker, CBC News, Ottawa.
Israeli forces carried out heavy strikes in Gaza City this weekend,
including on two high rises and a school housing displaced Palestinians.
Sasha Petrasek reports.
Israel says all of these,
as well as other residential high rises hit Friday and Saturday were being used by Hamas.
Hamas denies that. But there was another reason for hitting these buildings to send a message
to the million or so Palestinians here to get out before Israel launches a major offensive to
occupy Gaza City. Promise to begin any day now. Now, as for those negotiations,
everybody would like to see, it's not clear where they stand. The two sides are not talking
directly to each other. It's not even clear if they're passing messages through the mediators.
Hamas says it has accepted the deal the U.S. presented weeks ago, but Israel has not responded
publicly. Though today, U.S. President Donald Trump posted that it said yes, that Israel has agreed to
it, and he warned Hamas to fall in line. Though Trump's made similar statements before,
and there is still no deal. Sasha Petrissik, CBC News,
B.C. Wildfire Service information officer Mikhail Elsay says crews fighting the many wildfires
around the province saw some favorable conditions on Saturday. But he warns there could be challenges
in the days to come. It's kind of a bit of a double-edged sword there. We've got cooler weather,
maybe some pre-sip if we're lucky, but at the same time, the thunderstorms do bring fire winds that
could push the fire around. Officials in the North Okanagan say progress has been made on the Noble Canyon
wildfire that first sparked Friday night. That fire prompted an evacuation order for 15 properties
and an alert for dozens more, which remains in place. In central BC, hundreds are still out of their
homes because of the Beef Trail Creek and Dusty Lake wildfires. And in Newfoundland, a fire
near the town of Lethbridge has prompted an evacuation order for some residents there and forced
the closure of Route 233, which is impassable in both directions. Premier John Hogan said
evacuees can go to a nearby school,
the local fire department, and firefighters with the Newfoundland's Department of Forestry are responding.
Norwegians are heading to the polls in what is expected to be a tight election race.
The incumbent left-leaning Labor Party has a narrow lead over the right-wing block.
Voter Benjamin Tegelar Bribe says he's worried about what he sees outside of Norway's borders.
I mean, an obvious one is climate, but also I feel a bit stressed about this kind of like,
right-leaning wave that's going through Europe.
I feel like the world is kind of like crumbling around us.
And so I would like stability in Norway.
That's kind of what I'm voting for, yeah.
Another hot-button issue in this election has been a national wealth tax
and whether it should be kept, cut, or abolished.
And that is The World This Hour.

Thank you.
