It was easy. I called and spoke with a credit counselor right away. They asked me about my debt, salary, and regular expenses. Gave me a few options and helped me along the way. You had a ton of debt and you're saying credit counseling society helped with all of it? Yep, and now I can sleep better at night. Right on! When debt's got you, you've got us. The comments come from the country's foreign minister days after NATO spotted drones in European airspace and shot some down over Poland. Eunice Haydari reports. Russia's foreign minister addressing the United Nations General Assembly. Russia is being accused of almost planning to attack the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.
Starting point is 00:01:06 President Putin has repeatedly debunked these provocations. Those accusations come after NATO took down drones above Poland. And Estonia claimed Russian jets flew into its airspace. But at the UN on Saturday, Sergei Lavrov was blunt. However, any aggression against my country will be met with a decisive response. Christine Berzina is a senior fellow of U.S. defense in transatlantic security with the German Marshall Fund think tank. She says some of these actions could be tied to a more pro-Ukraine shift in Donald Trump's messaging. Instead, we're looking at a different strategy.

It means the country can be penalized for developing ballistic weapons. Also, any arms deals with Tehran are halted. The U.S. attacked Iranian nuclear sites in June.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Observers say those sites are being rebuilt. U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered troops be deployed to Portland, Oregon, authorizing full force if necessary, claiming that local immigration facilities are under siege from domestic terrorists. Oregon Governor Tina Kotech says she told Trump the city doesn't need the military, but she's also telling the people of Portland. Let's not take debate. Let's not respond to what the president is trying to do. We have to raise our voices absolutely, peacefully to the things that we believe in. But I also want to say that any property damage or violence of any kind will get us nowhere and will not be tolerated.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Downtown Portland was a site of fiery protest after the 2020 murder of George Floyd. More recently, demonstrations have been smaller and focused on the area surrounding the ice building. Negotiations between the union representing BC's public service workers and the province are set to resume Monday. But as Janella Hamilton reports, the union says picket lines in front of government offices and liquor stores will remain. We're hoping that government is serious about getting a deal. BC General Employees Union President Paul Finch says the provincial government has reached out, saying it has a new offer to present on Monday. Premier David Eby says he's glad both sides are going back to the bargaining table,
Starting point is 00:03:34 but adds the province's financial situation is strained. We can't provide the kind of agreement that we provided last time under Premier Horgan to the BCGU. And so we've got to sit down, we've got to be creative. I'm going to find ways to support those workers. In 2022, BCGU reached a three-year agreement with the province, giving workers a 3.24% wage increase in the first year, 5.5% in the second, and 2% in the third. This time, the union is asking for an 8.25% wage increase over two years.
Starting point is 00:04:10 Janella Hamilton, CBC News, Vancouver. A cyclist from Quebec made history Saturday, becoming the first ever Canadian elite road race world champion. 24-year-old Valier-Mille triumphed in the UCI Road World Championships held in Kigali, Rwanda. In the end, her win came down to the final stretch of the 164-kilometer race. In the last climb, I decided no regrets. I just go all in, and then I just went to the finish as hard as I could. Mill now has the honor of wearing a special rainbow jersey for the next year, which is only given to world champions.
